concerns over fast spreading variants of the corona virus trancelike americans said she was called satisfied by a recent decline in cases but worried new coronavirus strains could robert lead to a 3rd wave of infections the new plan pushes the end of the lock down from this saturday to march 7th business groups have pushed for early openings warning of in solvency. for some more analysis i'm not joined by our financial correspondent chelsea delaine in frankfurt chelsea what have some of their reactions been to this decision to extend the lockdown. well many businesses are obviously very disappointed that they're going to be remaining and lock down heard several more weeks especially for companies and businesses in the retail sector and the hospitality sector hotels all of these companies have really been pushed to the brink by the past over 3 months of lock downs they've really basically gone through

all of their resources and they now are on the brink of bankruptcy and there's also a big concern because the government has set up help for these companies bridging aid and which the government is helping to cover some of their fixed costs like rent or electricity bills but for many companies they haven't even received the help from november and december that they were promised so even though they they are being promised aid they're not getting it so that raises a lot of concerns among these businesses as well now there are a few exceptions here dresses for example are allowed to reopen sooner is there a plan on how to move ahead with other businesses should in such numbers continue to decline. so they've decided that once the level of infections falls below $35.00 infections per 100000 residents that

businesses should be allowed to reopen countrywide we're now at about $68.00 infections per 100000 residents so we're still a bit away from falling to that level but this is also been a big point of criticism from the business community while the government is laying out at the rush holt for reopening they haven't really put forward what the actual steps would be what businesses would be allowed to reopen so there still isn't a lot of clarity on when and what will be able to reopen once we do have that threshold now the slow moving vaccination campaign here in germany has been urging many people here germany's economics minister has offered support to covert vaccine makers what is that supposed to look like so this is from a letter that. peter outlier that the economy minister sent to 9 back scene manufacturers it was a very specific he offered state aid and the german government has offered already hundreds of millions a year is that aid to some of these companies but it's obviously intended to get
