history. for people to go for the electric. of. rev the auto and mobility show. will this car lead to a breakthrough for hydrogen vehicles the new toyota mirai. the nice thing about hybrid gen is a long range of fast refueling and low emission this can this car handle driving on snow and ice to tesla model 3 with snow chains if you need them. we have to you hear chains on a real electric. plant is key for the ring emo belletti on 2 wheels this poor little converts bicycles into each bikes. kept trying to duplicate you want to jump on my car but some good it's enough to come up with you can type as yours it's been trying to run your present predicament sprocket through. all charged up and ready to roll buckle up for another british and i'll grant.
7:32 pm
you guys when i come through raf today we have something rather special for you your new 2nd generation. one of the latest electric cars and one of the very few hydrogen cars and when it comes to range and fast refueling nothing can beat that says toyota so let's check it out. so is this the future of. electric cars. if you want to you can let your coffee on the streets. design wise things have drastically changed in the 2nd generation as you can see for yourself and definitely for the better if you asked me nothing really reminds
7:33 pm
you of the well kind of ugly looking spaceship the mirror i was before now we've got this nice looking front that split headlights not sure if i like those maybe one single unit would have looked better but on the side profile you've got this nice looking almost like roof line and then at the back here the only strip that goes all the railroad and i really like the design kind of reminds me of i don't know maybe meets already a 7 sport spec class b.m.w. at sirius trying to play looks nice. despite the new sporty looks toyota managed to lower the base price but they're almost $5.00 metre long hydrogen flagship down to under $64000.00 euro's. in here you've got pretty much all the space you could ask for very roomy uncomfy and the leather
7:34 pm
seats well they feel very nice i like it you've got a nice big center console wave can put you on to rest and well in the 1st generation the interior looked a tad too futuristic if you ask me in here you have got more classic layout but the nice stream behind the searing wheel and the big touchscreen plus the separate climate control or you could ask for let's check out the back. well. at the back. you can already see things. so spacious anymore i mean i'm only one metre 70 so i can fit pretty much anywhere but if you are bigger than your let's say ever japanese engine you know them well i mean like room is fine but could be a little bit more you can feel in here that the engineers they needed some of the space for all the electronics and the tanks at the back especially here in this
7:35 pm
center tunnel you can see how huge and massive that is so although toyota says that is a 5 seater i don't really see 5 adults sitting in here but what's pretty much if you look at the armrest you've got this little control center here so when you're sitting here you can control the temperature change the tracks and well if you're not too big a quite good time back you well let's check out the trunk then. just as with the back seat the same can be said here it's not the most spacious 450 metres capacity could be better but ok it is what it is because the engineers also here need the space for the electronics and the 3 tanks. so driving the mirai pretty much feels like driving any other electric car you get
7:36 pm
in turn the car on and off you go there is no need to adjust to anything because at the end of the day the mirai is just another electric car only difference being it doesn't store the electricity it needs in a big better read but instead it produces the energy it needs while driving in the fuel cell now although the 2nd generation will give you 182 holes because by no means a sports car so. you don't need to expect acceleration times of like. 0 to 100 kilometers per hour or takes are on 9.2 seconds and the top speed is limited to 175 kilometers per hour so those numbers are comparable to those of the 1st generation but still this one feels different you could say. it's a little bit more refined i would say whereas in the 1st generation you could
7:37 pm
really hear some pounds and compressor was working this one is really silent the only thing you sometimes can hear is maybe a little hissing sound coming from the fuel so in the front but i mean as soon as you turn on the radio you won't even notice that and if you combine the silence in here together with the little stiffer bodywork then the almost 5050 weight ratio well all that makes up for a pretty chill and relaxing right. now toyota didn't just change the design they wanted bigger range and more power and for that they needed more space so that's why the car compared to the 1st generation is so much bigger now the tech back then was just revolutionary as it is today you've got your fuel cell you've got an electric engine the fuel gets fed
7:38 pm
with hydrogen and produces energy that will make the electric engines spin and off you go at the end the only thing that's left is the emission is water which is pretty nice not to change the whole layout of the engine and the tanks the electric engine now sits at the rear of the car so we've got rear wheel drive on top of that they improve the fuel cell which now sits at the front of the car plus we've now got 3 instead of true i'd written fuel things that also sit at the rear of the car and together they will parrot 5.6 kilograms of hydrogen fuel and that is enough to reach ranges of up to 650 kilometers which is quite a lot before we had 500 but i mean compared to better electric vehicles there aren't that many that can go that far.
7:39 pm
now the real strength about hydrogen cars is no question refueling because with battery electric cars you oftentimes have to wait hours or at least 4530 minutes at the super charger to keep on going here you just take the i didn't install just like in your normal combustion car put it on wait for 5 minutes the whole thing is done you can go for another 650 kilometers pretty nice now there is of course one problem and that this the amount of hydrogen fuel stations now today there are more than the 1400 fuel stations from 2015 right now about 100 but i mean come on 100 stations in the whole of auden whole of germany compared to the a 1000 or 10000 petrol stations that peanuts now the distribution of those
7:40 pm
100 hydrogen stations is quite ok so in germany you pretty much can go anywhere but to get to the next station you will have to drive for some time as it won't be right around the corner. the original expansion plan in germany in vision 405 region refueling stations by 2023 however due to the slow pace of expansion it's doubtful this target can be reached in the next 2 years. one reason is certainly the low demand due to few new the registered fuel cell cars. the new mariah could be the hydrogen car that leads to a breakthrough. so as i said the nice thing about hydrogen is long ranges from. refueling and no emissions
7:41 pm
well besides water and normally the mirai will get rid of it by emitting water way but if you want to you can quite literally let your pee on the streets and by just pressing this spot. which is obviously quite nice if you want to avoid having bigger puddles in your garage another nice can be found inside the infotainment stream as a set for the fuel to work it needs hydrogen and air that is coming from the front of the car and now because during the process the air will get filled it will get out of the exhaust after the process even cleaner than when it entered which is crazy when you think about and you can even see that inside the engine for taman screen so basically. driving the car you will clean the area around you which is. nice i guess.
7:42 pm
so to sum it up is this the future of electric cars well i don't really know but the rise certainly shows that you don't need bigger and bigger better reason to reach higher ranges and when it comes to fast recharging or in this case refueling times when we're talking about electric cars nothing really beats hydrogen now would. certainly yes if i often had to drive long distances and don't want to spend my time waiting for the car to recharge now if i only needed the car for short commutes well maybe then a smaller car with a smaller bettery might be the better choice now why wouldn't i buy me right well probably because i need a lot of space in the trunk and stood there are in bed. many hydrogen fuel stations in germany but hopefully that will change in the future. the ugly
7:43 pm
duckling has become a beautiful swan and the 2nd generation has just about everything it takes to help fuel cells make a breakthrough what's missing are more hydrogen filling stations and hydrogen produced from renewable sources for it to become a troop 0 emissions be a cold. i am on effects of our gut and 6 times guinness world record holder in tightest parking and today i would like to explain your something about snow chains and in that way we have prepared it even for the tesla and we try to find a tesla f.
7:44 pm
for snow chains but there's no available. i so we have to use we're chains on a real electric car and by the way this is my very own tesla model 3 performance all will drive 500 feet and i was sure you what it is capable of even without chains. now i'm in the car with you and would like to show you a very special feature of motor islam one of 3 performance and that is actually the treatment so you can see here you can adjust and take mood because they can hit the front more in the remote so that means these 2 more does it seems like that you can separate them if you really like that we will see but actually with the slider i can see really. with the sled i can say from the bridge right if it's really in
7:45 pm
detail and that's what we would see when we look at that little graphic here because there we can see where the pole is really transmitted and that's why i put it in the in the 1st part of it and put it in the form. of because it means 100 percent to the front let's see what the individual a tie as a place. as you can see it's going on all 4 tires. so that means the 4 wheel drive it's not going to prison to the front that means it's not the front we're going to now we move to $5050.00 and see what happens. on the real time the spinning wheel. so that means it is already transferring power to the rear and a little bit to the front 100 percent to the rear. end
7:46 pm
still when the car comes into a dynamic situation to get support from the front. so it's not always set they do 100 percent in the recent ration so it is more of a truck make terrain so that needs you can define how much you try to glued to the radio or you raise a probability that a lot is going to the area a lot is going to look for. that is actually what the system can. pick our is at least trying to deliver cost to the front or to the rear depending on the slide up. and the moment we are and unit. will it be. so it was a magic of the car. so now we change it. completely to the front that's what happens and. getting into the corner of a card washing out to the front.
7:47 pm
and now last check. we do it into the center and have a look. and now it's neutrally and the whole system all took care of behaves quite neutral. i can't keep it with a lie straight slightly closing hearing we're. neighborhood in a tree. so that is one of the reasons why i bought the car because i like the way it is to give the driver the choice. today we want to talk about snow chains and when to put them and where to put them i would decide in the tesla it's a 4 wheel drive car in that case i would decide to anyway put it on the front if
7:48 pm
the traction is to bet maybe put to each side on the area so that we have all 4 tires and was best traction when it's the right moment to actually put them on when you look at the saw face deep snow of course could be one argument or when you have real proper ice then snow chains make sense please remember there is a speed limit related to snow chains that means maximum 50 in your route this company says only 40 so always have a deeper look into the regulations and into that what the manufacturer is telling so usually they're always a little baldly but in that case they're quite simple to install it sold please read the manual when you do that. oh it's. on the right side and that nothing. damages your tire or your room or your we're holes.
7:49 pm
on the road. and one more last tip always try that out at home 1st before you come into the situation where you actually need. to actually you should test before you really go into driving if everything is fitting tight or if you can still make it tighter because otherwise you have a problem when it comes to more speed.
7:50 pm
so now is the moment when you have to take them off because as 3rd and chains are not good together yeah why is that a problem to drive with chains on asphalt just imagine they had to so face destroy the saw face they heat up so it's not at all recommended only if you have a layer of ice a proper layer of ice or deep snow then of course it makes sense to use them because then they will create use i hope you can use some of these tips i will do one thing no i will remove them and add some more fun in the. if you want more red check out our you tube channel. if you want regular features about new cars and car culture and. around the world can make you very happy.

classics and future tech or just some of the exciting content waiting for you subscribe to us at you tube slash. and you'll always be up to speed. on the. people have bikes they want converted into each bikes we adapt them so they can not only cover short distances like from home to school but even replace the cars so the only transport they need is the bike. turned 40 this year i've been riding motorbikes and bicycle since i was 19 i always loved tinkering with engines from the carburetor to the exhaust and eventually i asked myself if there was a way to do it in a simpler and more environmentally friendly way that's when i got into the mobility
7:52 pm
it was nice to travel without noise because there are no vibrations and in the summer no extra heat under you and i can even hear the birds singing sometimes it's a totally different feeling for the most part of through. this is my bike shop i opened in 2010 since 2016 we've been doing conversions for ebonics and it's really taken off in the last few years. we now have purely electric bikes in our range tube and i love them to. keep it you know limb purely electric bikes are still a tricky business demands not very high because they're pretty heavy for getting around or pushing into backyards or carrying into the basement and there's also theft to deal with but there's strong demand for conversions bus so people have bicycles they want converted into a buy. so we adapt the holidays again at the moment because we do more conversions
7:53 pm
than we sell. it's. fixing the tour to the frame. before. we start selling something i try to test it myself but in 2016 my daughter was still small enough for me to take her on the back of my cargo bike but i soon found i wasn't strong enough to transport my daughter and all the shopping at once. so i was glad to have the ijaw. so as to call me. on my own bike and tested it in all kinds of conditions and all times of day in summer and winter. we noticed how people are attached to their bikes and tell us they don't want to throw them away they'd rather convert them. and because they're

a bit older and more fragile nobody quite as much weight as before and it helps to have each ride. with this system it's not possible to use the back pedal brands but there is another brand with that feature. they attach the motor on the left hand side and that frees up the space for the back pedal brake to start with the 5. to. 7. years if you have it they get used to the geometry of a bicycle the distance from pedals to handle bars or saddle. someone who rides a bike for 20 to 25 years has trouble finding any bike because they're built differently. this was a pilot for you the price for conversion starts at about $1500.00 euros but it's
7:55 pm
brand new any by cost upwards of $252600.00 euros so converting saves a lot of money is enough. money to do kind of my you tube channel is called 0 pioneer we show how the bikes work out and how we install the electric conversion sets and how to charge a motorbike or how far we can get on a charge of. long trips like a few months ago i wrote an emoter bike from berlin to the black forest and back that was more than 800 kilometers in one weekend. and because of the bug kept on the way there was fine every charging station worked but the way back when all wrong for me i had 40 kilometers left in my batteries and we had to try 3 different charging stations before i could charge my bike.
7:56 pm
so it was on it's plugged in i'll do some paperwork while the bike charges then i'll take it home but sort of. when i knock at some amount of crossing town silently on my e. bike you just are cruising around for a while i'm really looking forward to that before you can. we look forward to seeing you again next week for more rants.
