and for more let's bring in correspondent emily sure one who has been following all of the developments for us from moscow emily what more do we know at this hour. well we know that 8 people so far have died as a result of this attack and over 20 people are injured some of them in quite bad condition according to media reports the dead are pupils and one teacher the attacker has been arrested and seems to be currently in questioning the area itself around the school has been sealed off by officers of the national guard and there are ambulances working on site emergency services as well and the russian minister of education and also of health are now on their way. along with additional medical equipment additional doctors and psychologists who

will help with dealing with the aftermath of this attack the president of the republic of tatarstan where this attack took place has made an emotional statement and has also declared that tomorrow will be a day of mourning in the republic and do you know anything more about why this happened you know who perpetrated this attack. we don't know too much about the motives yet this is an ongoing investigation of course in this case pretty quickly we saw the interior ministry announce that there was a counter terrorism operation going on and the president of tatarstan even called the perpetrator a 19 year old male a terrorist but it doesn't seem that there were kind of any religious motives going on there in this muslim majority republic at all at the moment it seems that

perhaps there may have been personal motives the 19 year old who perpetrated this attack.
