several students were ordered to the principal's office and suspended for 10 days the school also notified the police. we've got an idea how did you all feel about that and a hand accounts of bad things started we kept thinking about what happened and how stupid it was hust but when it finally sunk in the kids were really bummed out. no one in our class laughed any more it was a pretty dark mood people were really sad and they were upset too i live on. the sets it was only then that the students understood what actually happened so maybe indeed something sticking forth that's missed in tickets and i don't see it so much in their daily behavior i think they get along well with each other i talk to 5 here but i also see that they're living in 2 separate worlds. when they use

the internet they behave differently 5 it isn't the digital world seems to have its own code of conduct and this really worries me that's how these 2 live some mixing together in the real world so i may be from the. most crimes involving child pornography are investigated by a special unit of the frankfurt prosecutor's office this unit works closely with the federal police the b.k. . in 2019 the b.k. registered almost 4900 cases of children or young people accused of distributing acquiring possessing or producing child pornography. and 2018 the number of such cases was just 1700. we are on our way to meet. a prosecutor who works with the cyber crime investigation unit. she's concerned that child pornography is turning up more often on the cell phones of young people this isn't going on many of us feels like it's this phenomenon has

been increasing in this age group for the last 2 or 3 years some of it in such. a home we are worried about this trained and we're trying to figure out what's behind it so. in october 29000 the b.k. and the prosecutor's office launched a crackdown on the distribution of child pornography on cell phones. and i'm going to fight it out so. they stick it in the fields in all sections. many of the suspects had shared images on social media. i don't suppose it is to use a corporate we're not dealing with pedophiles here they had no idea how serious this is. most of the investigations were later called off but some of the younger suspects had to take part in an internet education program. the prosecutors main goal is to track down those who actually produce pornographic images and post

them on the web. where does this stuff come 'd from doesn't it where does it will begin that's a good question and it's difficult to answer because the material spread within specific networks and it's fair go and the images are sent to all kinds of different contact let's talk president of us some of these contacts appear on digital. so we have to find a specifically out and then follow for you. often the investigation simply leads back to a student's cell phone. as much as you had you want to tell lights and it here we know that many young people are just being careless but we take this problem very serious some top for adults the distribution of child pornography is a crime that's punishable by a minimum of 3 months in prison and this is if this law is created for an important purpose the penalties are severe because this crime is associated with the sexual

abuse of children and 6 and most powerful can and. often the same images appear in a number of different places as for example here in the towns of fadden and also holds in the state of lower saxony all it takes to spread this material is one click on a phone or computer. the local police are investigating one case in particular it came to light after a mother discovered child pornography on her child's phone she reported this to the authorities. the local crime prevention team soon learned that the. image had been shared many times. we found it in several large what's up groups over the years young people often set up these groups and they're huge with a 100 or more people taking part time. going to them when someone posts material that it can spread quickly. during the investigation police

a father myself so i have to make sure that my children learn all the traffic regulations before us and the mountain narrowed get rid of them before she will she which is the same with cell phones i'd like parents to talk to their kids about how to use a phone properly and warn them about potential risks. the police have adopted a preventative strategy to inform children about the dangers of using the internet . he was talking about 10 and 11 year olds and criminal activity so we stress education of a punishment the. police are still investigating 2 local whatsapp users linked to this case. but what is whatsapp itself doing to prevent the spread of objectionable content. the company told us that the sharing of anti-constitutional content and

child pornography is unacceptable and that every month the company blocks about $250000.00 accounts and encourages users to report offensive material and once. we return again to the school in houghton today the principal will meet with parents to discuss violent videos and illegal images. zilker miller and her colleagues will show the parents some materials that were taken from students phones. about $100.00 parents are expected to attend. but there are $800.00 students at the school so the principal was hoping for a bigger turnout. one of the videos will have a huge impact on the audience. to get my number one we want to raise awareness about what's out there we can't ignore this kind of content any longer it's not

enough to just put your phone down and stop fooling around with social media this material is everywhere. then he doesn't know if you can stand to watch animal cruelty. the principal plays a video that shows a man throwing a dog into a pot of boiling water. shocking for the parents certainly but almost all of the 9th graders have seen this one already. the had kids seen with us surely this affects them. and i mean this woman has this one shows adult hitler saying greece things to the whatsapp group. on the methodology i thought look at when they were shed at 22012144. we're only here but i know you really don't

the parents had no idea that just a few weeks later things would begin to get even harder by march 2020 germany found itself in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic people started spending much more time online. right now no one has time to keep track of the content that students are sharing on whatsapp and no one is talking about guidelines for using social media responsibly. mischa's no vision of a clear that all that for me we shouldn't be worrying about technology computer skills and artificial intelligence 0 automatons we need to focus on developing digital. also. against me i've been saying for years that we have to apply ethical principles to social media communication and that. this is our responsibility as educators this is a serious problem right now and we have to deal with it and something. has made

this point clear to her students and they're getting the message. i don't think anyone knew that sharing this stuff was illegal. and when some of the kids got caught people started paying more attention to what they were putting on the internet. and. i don't think anyone in our class will ever share a sticker like that again. that all of us understand now that it's against the law . it's stupid and you shouldn't do it. this is a step in the right direction students are now talking to each other about what's right and wrong in the digital world in fact they know the rules better than many adults do.
