the country reeling and worried. this will become the new normal even if the world wasn't warming, the pacific northwest and stuff with canada would be having an exceptional way right now. but it won't be quite as severe. it wouldn't be blowing past existing records. or if it did, it would not be blown past them by very much. and so climate change less, it would be much more severe than they otherwise would have been in a world without any change. more than 105 still burning across western canada threatening other towns prime minister justin trudeau has conveyed an emergency response group and promises to help communities recover from all it speak with renee van. and she's a reporter at radio station. news 1130 out of vancouver. she joined us now by the on the phone a. renee, thanks for joining us. can you describe forth what happened in listen?

well, like you heard in that report, right? it was so sudden it comes after incredible heat, like close to 50 degrees, which is unheard of in western canada. and from you know, report from the folks in town. it just took minutes. it was the early evening and before you knew what they saw, the smoke and then they could feel the heat. and then some reports that the flames were traveling like 30 kilometers an hour just from one end to the town to the next . and they didn't really have a lot of time to respond or you could even see some footage of some cars at an intersection and they literally don't know where to turn. did they turn left to? they turn right. it was just chaotic scene. and we've also heard that people are now not being allowed into the town for obvious reasons. how is your station being reporting this disaster? well, like a lot of other stations. so we've dispatched our reporter to a town where people are congregating after they have been evacuated. so there's emergency centers where you're supposed to check in as an evacuation to let people

know. yes, you're alive, but now you need red crosses assistance and you need a home and you need to trees and that kind of thing. so there's a various towns that set up such as that. so we've dispatched our reporter 2 locations like that. so she can actually talk to survivors and people who, who manage to escape that day. i, of course the fire comes and made a record breaking hate wave. we've all been reporting on it over the last days and weeks western canada it's been experiencing. it's still ongoing what's, what's it like there at the moment? it's a little bit better, like i can tell you personally, it was very difficult to sleep in my apartment. again, this is vancouver, like in mid twenty's is considered really hot and vancouver were talking. oper, thirty's, and it was unbearable for our homes. people had to sleep in hotel rooms, people had to sleep where there was air conditioning. most people like myself don't have air conditioning, and a lot of people don't even have fans and that kind of thing. so we're just starting now to feel a little bit more comfortable if now in the mid twenties and i think and another

thing too with that, yes, we had a heat wave but, but he didn't go away overnight. so again, on the west coast, we're used to having a very comfortable evening's. it might be hard, a little hot in the, in the day time, but it will cool off completely at night. well, this did not happen this time around. it was hot all 24 hours a day and it was really, really hard to escape. and it's you know, the only the beginning of summer. renee, then news $1130.00 out of vancouver. canada. thanks so much for your time. stay safe. you're welcome. let's take a look now at some of the stories making news around the world. search and rescue teams have pulled wall bodies from the rubble of the collapsed high rise in florida . one of the victims is the 7 year old daughter of a miami fire fighter. the recovery brings the death toll to 22 officials have evacuated. another building in the area. i feel that it's also unsafe. residents were given just to our to leave florida. residents are also in the path of

international trips have gone this is the sound of us troops leaving us gone down to its fate. in 2001 after the 911 terrorist attacks us troops stoned bugs into a key military base to hunt down militant groups responsible for the atrocity. now the afghan government is getting control back, even though talks between them and taliban militants have made no headway. president biden believes that can work. look, we're in that war for 20 years. 20 years. and i think i met with the african government here in the white house in the oval. i think they have the capacity to be able to sustain the government. africans do not have as much faith in their government as biden as military truth depart. day to are looking for

a way out. people are flocking to passport offices in capital to plan their exit either be a very veteran about a possible return of the taliban, so we want to leave the country before the situation gets worse. from all of your, most districts have fallen. there's not a single district without fighting. they've even reached the chief of police and office and provincial capital. i've come here to get my passport and get out of a found the stone not safe for the soldiers of the african national and different forces. that's not an option. some field, a country is finally their own and they intend to hold it, keeping the taliban at bay on this land belong to you when the russians were here and they left than the americans came and now they have left. this country is ours and be, be protected even without bay or equipment. meanwhile,

the taliban are gaining ever more ground in afghanistan. over the past weeks, they've been on the offensive relieving propaganda videos and taking control of many districts. it won't be until the last us to pull out on september 11th, that the world will finally loan what the taliban have planned. the get more from afghanistan with marion south issues, the founding director of the organization for policy, research and development studies. i pro democracy think tank in cobble 9. thanks for joining us with these farm for post forces pulling out. can we expect the taliban to retake afghanistan including the capital cobble well, that's a question that's actually on everybody's mind right now. we have last about a quarter of a jonathan district to the tell the band since approximately endo april and me when

the announcement of the woodrow had taken place. not up by the 29th of june alone, we had about a $127.00 districts that had told him to the total that intent had been retaken by the national security forces. at this rate, it certainly seems that the telephone have left the piece off in the negotiation table and have resorted to a military takeover of districts approaching the courts of kabul, which they had been in the past, but far more aggressively. now. the potential for a military takeover of the taliban of the entire country is something that both afghan officials get people, members of the community are now concerned with. is there a way to get those paced talks with the combo government and the rebels back on track?
8:12 am
there are efforts underway. the i can negotiate in team is in doha right now. as we speak in there, there to start talks with the taliban reports come out that the taliban are not willing to sit on the negotiation table at the present moment. what about the gains that have been made by african women in the last decades i have, we're going to say a rollback of that. is that an area of concern? and if there are already reports emerging of districts in certain provinces like the har, very recently we have reports that just districts that have been taken over by the taliban. they have already imposed restrictions on women on media. for instance, women are in the ha, reportedly not allowed to leave the house without a male chaperone clinics have been closed. there's also reports of media blackout

in certain districts of the telecom have taken over. so there is no coverage of the atrocities that are taking place in those areas. and men are told to now keep a beard. and certain of these are reflective of what we saw in the ninety's when the taliban were in power. and. and so we're seeing that happen, there are reports that are emerging of, of that scenario. and that is indicative of a very horrifying scenario where we are very much of the, of the belief that there is going to be a rollback in many, many games. and particularly women's rights, if this continues at this right now, we're running out of time, but we as we hadn't that report, we're seeing a lot of people leave afghanistan. do you expect that to continue? yes, there are line ups all across the afghan passport office here in cobol, where we are. there are line lineups behind embassies, hopkins,
