welcome outlines all reinstating the a $380.00 c put you on the passenger demand lease. we'll explore why and it's a growing market here in germany. businesses are preparing to capitalize on the increasing need we'd this is due to be a business on robots in berlin. welcome to the program. these efforts to end its reliance on russian gas are simply not enough. that's the warning from the international energy agency which says the block is that to have insufficient gas supplies to see it through the wind. if russia turns off the taps, the message came from the eye, just as rushes gasped from, reportedly sent a letter to european importers declaring force much on deliveries down the north stream, one pipeline to germany, the states gas producers said that extraordinary circumstances meant the resumption of flyers was beyond its control. germany's government says it's now considering

whether to extend the life of its 3 remaining nuclear power plants to alleviate the looming crisis. meanwhile, the u. s. just signed an agreement with as of i john on monday to double it's gas imports to europe in the coming. yes. well let's get more on that european commission president. ursula found a line was at the signing ceremony in back to which i could see a 50 percent increase in gas from azerbaijan. this year. i want to emphasize 3 points from our memorandum of understanding. the 1st is that we will double the supply of gas from as a by john to the european union. indeed, with this m o u, we commit to the expansion of the southern gas karita. this is already a very important supply road route for the european union,
4:47 pm
delivering currently more than 8 b. c. m 1000000000 cubic meters of gas per year. and we will expand its capacity to 20000000000 cubic meters in a few years. well, let's put those figures from us on the line into context because the idea says the gas imports from all sources outside of your asset of russia, even, i won't be enough to replace russian supplies. so, as i look at this in 2021, russia sent a 155000000000 cubic meters of natural gas to the european union. the north stream, one pipeline we've been talking about has the capacity to send 55000000000 cubic meters in a year. meanwhile, as a by john sent a total of 8000000 cubic meters to the last year and under the deal is not expected to deliver. still any 12000000000 this year, so that wouldn't even come close to replacing flows from north stream, one less, learn russia as a whole. let's discuss this further without russia specialists are until some

things off, which one means you did talk about this. so we have this letter from gas from to russian, import us calling force, majestic. can't guarantee the delivery will restart down node straight one. how likely is it looking that they wired? well, i mean, so far away now we don't really know what rushes justification for this. they haven't actually made any direct statements to that. however, that does seem to be the most likely outcome when you are talking to international experts here in europe and also european leaders as well. they've long had the supposition that this is an attempt by the kremlin to put pressure on the you and more specifically, on germany, especially as we're moving towards the colder months. you have to remember germany is dependent for around 50 percent of its gas imports on the russian federation. and russia is really looking to kind of cause the support for the grain in the current conflict to dwindle. and it seems like this is, i mean, as one economists we spoke yesterday, put it in the 1st opening salvo in a gas war. so it does really seem like experts are expecting russia to keep the taps to close when it comes to this pipeline stiffening salvo. in
4:49 pm
a broader gas war, how likely is it looking that the fear that you're going to have to do without russian gas this year is actually going to come to fruition in the winter? well, i think that really kind of depends on what happens in the next weeks and months. you have to remember gas is still coming from the russian federation to the european unit. this is just one pipeline. it is incredibly important pipeline for germany, but i do think this is kind of them, you know, just kind of in a little, you know, testable or carrying the coal mine trying to see exactly where this is going to go . they want to see what this is going to do to gas prices, and they want to see how the public and also european politicians and specifically german politicians react to this move. and of course, you know, we're already starting to feel the pinch here. i mean, gas contracts here in berlin have already tripled quadrupled in the last couple weeks. and as we're moving towards winter, when things get colder and gas becomes more important, you're definitely going to see those prices start to increase. and i think the kremlin is going to be watch the noises coming out of berlin and coming out of
4:50 pm
paris in the coming months to see if this is actually a tool that they can use to exert pressure on the european union moving forward. so i mean is anyone's guess if they're actually going to go for a coat full incomplete stop. it's really gonna determine how european industry and politicians react to the next coming weeks. ok. or until some thanks for keeping his upside on that. thank you. next, the searching demand for air travel may have put enormous strain on understaffed international airports. but it's also awakened a sleeping giant, an iconic aircraft previously consigned to the great scrap yard in the sky. now making a triumphant return it back the air bus a 380 super jumble is taken to the skies again. thanks to a resurgence in air traffic, the world's biggest passenger aircraft has been pulled out of retirement by many airlines, including emirates and british airways. and for many,

the return of the entire 8th we 80 fleets can't happen fast enough to by based emeralds has by far the world's biggest, a 380 fleet followed by singapore airlines in 3rd place, comes lufthansa. even the germans are planning to deploy some of their super jumble planes. again. australia's quantas and british airways round up the top 5 list for most 8th we 80 aircraft. lufthansa parked many aircraft and spain when the coffee, 19 pandemic ground air traffic to a halt. the 8380 was supposed to be retired for good thought to beg, unprofitable and bad for the planet, but times have clearly changed with lufthansa now planning. 8th we 80 voyages for summer 2023. let's speak to aviation journalist, andreas space. at least get a little bit more about this because some, it seems a bit strange to me, andreas,
4:52 pm
the problems with the a 380 haven't gone away. is that what those 4 big engines need? lots and lots of fuel and it's still massive. it's still difficult to fill as difficult as it was before the pandemic. so we're wired airlines willing to look past those problems and reinstated, i think they're just in need of capacity in that as fast as possible. so the 8th grade age you fleet, that was already kind of more bold and long term storage around europe and elsewhere, where the easiest solution. and as you does right, you said there's, it's job search of the mom right now. and it's also possible that them will last until the next season starts. so actually as it takes quite some time to reactivate them that just be ready in time for the early summer season, meeting spring. 2023. yes. as you mentioned it's, it's not an immediate thing, it's not really get out for any relief to the problems that we're seeing right now . it efforts. is it, but why does it take so long? i mean, i think the fans are not expected to bring them back in like you say until the middle of next year is it takes
4:53 pm
a full 9 months looked. how does the customer bought, told me recently to reactivate and create you from so on, so called a big storage device means it is kept in the air was the condition on the ground. but still it takes a long time to get it round and run up and kind of get to do the technical details and trick being done as a huge wrap up after all, on the other hand also then a pilot shortage. last hands has just kept 1488, the captains current, and that's the reason we are now. we'll base, it's newly revamped a new port because that further, if you 50 is the more modern act up to the base. and then that height is the a 50 pilot can easily be retrained and cross trained to also similar heinously by the way, to the reason compiled and re excavation and the terms so clearly renewed of demand for a large aircraft like this. but this isn't making them any more. and the jumbo jet
4:54 pm
is 747 also might as well. so where are they supposed to get these big enough aircraft if they need them? the island gets very big concern of some items, especially interests and yesterday, at the farm or actual in england, there was a high level panel with the head of the island and certain classes president and they both agreed. and it's really a big omission of almost like not to look at all at the moment. what's the next generation in big could be boy in currently has problems delivering on its lead. last are profit in production right now. the triple 7 dash 9. and that was the reason he's coming back to stop gap measure, but it's really a big form of the industry average. and at least there's nobody right now. notice any big replacement lack in the mid term, long term future. wow. i think in the pipeline and transfer thanks a lot for joining us. thank you very much. now,

germany is expected to become the biggest calibus market in the world over the next 2 years. plans to legalize the drug are pressing forward is by concerns over the health impact minister say the law will put safety 1st. when is passed, it'll create opportunities for businesses, potentially worth billions. a fledgling business is going mainstream as healthy alongside for a long time. the belief was that ben in cannabis would stop consumption, kind of this alchemy stack from that on the condom yet for now, the belief is, is legitimate money and jobs in it. but how easy is it to set up a cannabis company like demi con, near taste, and parts of these 3 mates from uni, quit their jobs, embed everything they had on growing the perfect strain of lady jane for medical use from taking a new cutting to harvest is about 100 days, but within the 1st 20 days the, the plan basically doubles in size every 3 to 4 days. because we have an a t rex
