ah, ah ah ah, this is dw news live from berlin to night f b i. agents armed with a search war to pay a visit to donald trump's florida estate. agents, searched for documents allegedly removed from the white house. trump is claiming that this is part of a conspiracy to stop him from running for president. again. also coming up tonight, change in kenya as voters a like a new president and a new parliament. we'll take a look at the front runners. it will says what the outcome might meet plus equal

pay for equal footwork, women, soccer stars, demanding salaries to match those of the men. now even the german chancellor is charming yet. ah. i bring off is good to have you with us on this tuesday. the f b i has rated former u. s. president donald trump's estate in florida in an unprecedented swoop. on the home of a former american president, trump claims the agents broken to his safe at the mar logo complex. he's under investigation. you may recall for allegedly removing official records, possibly classified material from the white house, but truck claims. the raid is part of a conspiracy to stop him from running for president again in 2024. mar lago. the morning after the search police remained at the scene to secure the

property. trump referred to his florida residence as the wind to white house because he often received world leaders and heads of state. there. the search was part of an investigation into whether the former president illegally moved classified whitehouse records to the estate. back in january boxes of documents were also confiscated from the property. trump was in new york during the latest search, but protested online these a dock times for our nation as my beautiful home mar. lago and palm beach. florida is currently under siege rated and occupied by a large group of f. b. i. agents, nothing like this has ever happened to a president of the united states before. in office, trump was often criticized for mishandling sensitive government documents. us media broadcasting images which claim to shar notes. he tried to flush down a toilet under us law. he should have handed them over to the national archives.
9:03 pm
documents that are at the top secret level or a bar represent in a get out. ah, ah, and exceptionally grey damage in the national security. trump support has protested the search in front of the maro lago property throughout the night. they suspect the right is part of a conspiracy within the justice department to prevent trump from running for reelection. if a more now i'm joined by jennifer town, she's an author and law professor at western new england university school of law and she joins me to night from north hampton, in massachusetts professor. it's good to have you with us tonight. this is the 1st time in u. s. history that the f b i has rated the home of a former president. do we know what led the justice department to take this stunning step? thanks for having me. according to news accounts, we believe that this search warrant was sought in order to find documents
9:04 pm
that the former president apparently pilfered from the white house fac, when he departed in january of 2021. apparently he had returned about 15 boxes a year later when asked, but not everything came back. and there's a concern professor, isn't there that there's classified information in these documents, and if that is the case, then taking those documents outside of the white house when you're no longer you as president. that's a crime, isn't it? yes. but this has to be more than that because in order to be able to execute to get a judge, to approve a search warrant, you would need to believe that there was a car ongoing crime that this search would result in finding evidence of their crime on site and that
9:05 pm
a regular subpoena would not work was you really have to convince the judge that something fresh or new has happened. so it seems either, most of the legal experts believe is not merely his possessing of these documents, but a true concern that he is or has used them or distributed them in and additionally unlawful way perhaps. and again, this part is speculation that they fear he was going to sell or share them, or give them to somebody or give access to somebody to these top secret documents. and that would be an imminent crime or an ongoing crime they might be concerned about. it and we know that there are several investigations into donald trump's time and he was president. but with this read that more lago can we say? is it possible to say that he is perhaps closer to being charged with
9:06 pm
a crime than he's been before? absolutely. you could say that, given that our attorney general mayor garland has been exceedingly careful and cautious and is known to cross every tea in dot. every eye is highly unlikely that this would be the 1st step into and criminal investigation. and as for the other investigations at the grand jury or grand juries are looking at, it's possible that this particular search could yield relevant evidence in the united states. if there is a lawful search, such as this one pursuant to an approved search warrant. there's this notion of something called the plain sight. so if they happen to come across in the documents or locations that they are authorized to search other evidence pertaining to these other investigations that could lead us farther toward, toward a, you know, criminal consequences in those as well as before you in
9:07 pm
a time. what do you make of double trumps accusations? and we've also heard this from some republican members of congress that what we're seeing here is a plot by the democrats to prevent donald trump from running for president again. and that they're using the justice department to do this. is it possible that this is a weaponized politicization of the justice department that we're seeing? i very much doubt that today or yesterday would have been the worst possible day to do something political joe biden had a week long of, you know, great results. his approval ratings were up. he got this massive legislation and only that, donald trump running would be ideal. there's no way he could possibly win. anyway, so this is not, you know, the white house did not know about this. local law enforcement didn't know about america or land in the f. b. i kept this very close. this is not something that was
9:08 pm
a political decision. professor jennifer tell we appreciate your time and your valuable insights tonight. thank you. thank you. and i will vote counting is underway in elections in kenya, the nation is choosing a new parliament, anthony president, that's a tight race for the top job. and the winner will face some big challenges. inflation, unemployment, and corruption have dominated campaign. oh, you can hear him before you see him arrive. presidential candidates right now didn't go on his way to cast his vote in kenya's general election. people have been waiting for this moment the whole morning played this did. is that a level dingo? ah, because he has suffered a lot. yes to you so much time to get this. this chair people started queueing as early as 4 am here. and i, ruby's largest informal settlement keeper. they have different issues that

his wife addressed the media, we just hope for the best. and we think that they're not going to bring in the rubbish that they have done before. and she referred to the failures of the electoral commission in the last election when the supreme court nullified the result. despite these pastel injures canyons are hopeful for a clear result that both sides will accept for i want to go down to our correspondence. felix maria. he is in i robi, good evening to you, felix. i know that the polls closed a couple of hours ago or when can we expect an idea in terms of results? good evening, prince. yes. the post closed i was a gorb. but these actually one county mombasa county, reach the ports i yet to close in that is because the policy began at 11 am. so they're independent. electro lynn boundaries commission had to extend their time for the voters who had been on their lines for the whole day to be able to be given
9:12 pm
that that would be able to be compensated their time that they lost in the morning when they didn't start on time, but we are not so sure when to expect their results by those results have started streaming in at the national telling center sofa layla dingo has a slight lead over william router ala dean guy is leading at around 49.6 percent. while william router is trailing at 48.7 percent of their total would cost, but the results are still streaming in so many it is i would say yes to be counted . so that is just the provisional results. of course, the other 2 presidential candidates chilling far, much behind the 2 leading presidential candidates and the numbers that the jew jokes to side. there would tell us that this could be a very, very close race all the way to the end.
9:13 pm
absolutely, their risk would be very close. in fact, some of their people or the analyst that we've talked to have said that this election could even lead to a ran off. but we wait to see once every board has been counted, where they will actually lead to a ran off. but the one thing that is very specific about these election is that the water note was very minimal. as at 4 pm, only 56 percent of the $22000000.00 voters were registered towards had wooded. so the voter channel for this particular election, i can tell you for sure has been very low voter turnout. whoa. and young voter turnout. that was a bit more we talked about that last night to turn out to be that way. absolutely. and this this evening actually just stopped by the roadside and talked to an old driver who said that the reason as to why he didn't go vote is because
9:14 pm
the vehicle he rides is owned by a boss who expects him to actually deliver some amount of cash on a daily basis and so there is no idea that his boss will actually see that you went to ward. so today i don't expect you to submit to a quarter. so that is just one of the puzzles that we talked to. but most of the people we talked to also during the day she had the same sentiments that some of them could not leave their workplaces to come and would, some of them are young. people could not even find the enough motivation to actually come out and vote in this particular election. and that is something that probably moving forward. the country will be looking at on how to engage more young people so that they can be motivated enough to come in votes. you know, it's a big challenge for all democracies around the world. at the moment you w felix marina, in my room phillips, thank or to russia's war in ukraine. russia has repeatedly denied targeting civilian infrastructure in its attacks,
9:15 pm
but the destruction on the ground, it tells a different story. ukraine's government says that hundreds of hospitals and clinics have been damaged. t w's forgetting sugar reports to night. as deputy house minister, pablo coughed on yoke, worked for years to rebuild ukraine's health care system. in his new job, he documents its destruction. this used to be the chinese cardiac center until it was totally destroyed by a russian airstrike. that strike is one of more than 180 hospital attacks cofton nuke and his team f documented. i see the systemic read that often destruction of healthcare as a part of civilian livelihood because it's not only about health care, it's old types of civilian objectively. systemically targeted a dash can video caught the moment we ate, rush and bombs hit the residential area, leaving

a crater right next to the cardiac center. the attack it 47 people that day. the city was under constant selling, a resident tells us tomorrow, excavators had to take the grave. there were so many victims that they had to bury them, the body backs. pavlov, tanya and his small n g o collect witness accounts, photos of damage, and remnants of weapons they held the evidence can be used in future litigation. they just work on cases where no ukrainian military were based near buying only then. gov tanya says, could such an attack a moment to a war crime attacks on house facilities like this one leaf, much more destruction than a wrecked hospital. they leave people without immediate and long term health care, and they add to fear and insecurity because hospitals are no longer a place of safety. doctors at the chimney of children's hospital just across the

street, treated the injured of the cardiac center attack a day. dr. nikolai low cabbage says he will never forget malicious of the one that we just were trained, trauma surgeon, us. but we never, ever experienced this kind of bleeding wound but animal. but everybody was screaming adults and kid, we put 5 of them here on the floor, but more and more were coming. it was chaos, ships to party. you are the constant telling, the doctors did everything they could to keep their young patients safe. and that meant a lot of time in the basement. 2 weeks later, a bomb hit here. oh, certainly, obstacle, the preamble. it was a cluster bomb or want to use the ammunition parts were everywhere for the war. fortunately, there had been an air raid alarm for the cluster attack, so the children were in the basement, you could, if not, we could have had 237 death mazama, but do supersets himself. if they, if he sells cofton yoke,

the shrapnel he collected from the site they operated for hours. he says to get dozen south similar pieces are threatening out of the children's bodies more. we are also through with the doorbell and i, and when you're here to this, no need to explain why when it justice, for somebody needs to pay for what was done to that, to be polite like nicola, or his patience on the way out of cheney. if we pass another destroyed hospital, it may take years before an international court or tribunal starts dispensing justice. and when they need his evidence, cofton uke says it's ready and waiting. artless. take a look now, some of the other stories related to the war in ukraine. crimean authorities say one person has been killed and several others injured. after a series of explosions rocked a russian air based on the peninsula. videos shared on social media show several blast near the nova fed a leaf cut facility rushes,

defense ministry claims detonated ammunition cause the explosion. russia illegally annexed crimea from ukraine. in 2014, a funeral has been held for 15. unidentified civilians killed by russian forces in the ukrainian town of boucher russian troops occupied the area early in the war and murdered hundreds of civilian authorities, say several of the bodies showed signs of torture before millions of europeans. the summer of 2022 is very hot. a dry spring, scorching temperatures means whole countries are gripped by drought. now extreme. he waits in forest fires and plague, france, italy, spain, and portugal. for weeks the u. k. recorded temperatures above 40 degrees celsius for the 1st time. that is $104.00 in fahrenheit. and rivers,
9:20 pm
they are drawing up in the netherlands and here in germany, the rhine river has dropped so low that house boats are stranded and commercial shipping may be halted or corresponded barbara hazel, she reports to night from the banks of the rhine, near the border between germany and the netherlands here, it's ny megan, where the river barges come up from europe's biggest harbor. rotterdam, carrying goods like coal, allan gee, and building materials. the shipping lanes, which we can see here in the middle of the river, right, are just still possible. but what we can see, of course, if we look at one of those barges that they are hardly loaded at all, they carry an only up to assert off norma goods. they're riding really high out of the water here. this is one of the tank or is of course, that probably can just take it tiny amount of what it usually carries. so this shows a very clearly that shipping here is going to run out in
9:21 pm
a couple of days. it may be towards the next weekend because the water is the water is going down by the day the river is drying out. now if we look to the other side of the river there over there, the nice little beaches they are not supposed to be there, people who enjoy them, but that is really where normally the river is of where the water is. so this situation here shows clearly that the drought and all over europe has consequences even here in europe's biggest is shippable river in the river, right. and it is see clearly all experts agree is a sign and a consequence of climate change that was dw barbara visa, well from one extreme to the other flooding in the south korean capital. so has left at least 9 people dead. some parts of the city have seen the heaviest rainfall in 80 years. the weather office is forecasting more written in the next few days.

like fountains along the streets, the serious c all filled up with water, turning rows into rivers. it even drowned the upscale district of gun them known for its design outlets and high and cars. people thought they would be safe hill. now hambleton is all i couldn't believe that i was trapped in a building with 40 other people in the middle of gang of district due to floods. it reminds me of the titanic. i was so scared my 2 little sons were waiting at home. so i wanted to go back home, which was only 10 minutes away, but i couldn't possibly move. and that situation was unbelievable. to day i finally began to feel the impact of climate change. all these things are caused by, it tells me that climate change is believed to be making rains heavier and more erratic. this was south korea's worst rainfall in decades. the consequent flooding toned deadly and brought buses and subways to
9:23 pm
