i like this diversity to make up your own mind. d. w. need for mines. ah ah, this is the w use life from berlin, russia blaine's ukraine for a political killing in moscow. the weekend car bombing killed a prominent ultra nationalists daughter, a father, an ally of vladimir putin supports his invasion of ukraine. keep says if plato passed german chancellor, olaf shoulds takes a trip to canada,
5:01 pm
is looking for energy deals and some help winning germany off russian gas. ah, i've been for solid welcome. russian security services claim. ukraine is responsible for a car bombing it. moscow. the attack killed daria davina, a daughter of an outspoken russian hardline nationalist said to be close to vladimir putin, both to deny and her father publicly supported rushes war in ukraine. keith has denied any involvement, but an obscure russian group now says it was behind the attack. they call themselves the national republican army and non non groups. that is now claiming responsibility for the killing of daria to ganache from which in a video statement read by a former russian lawmaker, the group threatened to more attacks on people with connections to the kremlin or,
5:02 pm
but there are doubt that an improvised movement could have carried out such a sophisticated attack bites in investigations over the death of dark doogie. now continue, the russian investigative committee says an explosive planet in the vehicle killed at 29 year old t v commentator. the power of the explosion was evident parts of the toyota land cruiser. was strewn across a large area. her father alexander duke in may however, have been the target of the attack brush and state media said login was intending to travel in the vehicle, but changed his mind at the last minute. both dugeon and his daughter were on her way to moscow after they attended a cultural festival. that what we should, alexander doogan, is one of the staunchest allies of president vladimir putin in a far right philosopher in author. he has been pushing for a revival of the russian empire. his daughter, although less known, was also
5:03 pm
a prominent member of the orchard, nationalist movement, supporting russia's invasion of ukraine. e on let me throw at her, he called for a genocide of ukrainians. she called greg in so soft human race, she called for public or public killings of ukrainian prisoners of war, et cetera. so yeah, she's against daughter bart. she is 1st of all a very active member of our russian fall, right. nationalist, neo nazi are influential. c rushes federal security services, now accusing ukraine of being behind the blast, as spokesperson for ukrainian president followed dimia. so lensky has denied keith was involved earlier. we checked him with dw corresponded woman. gotcha, thank oh. who's in keith? he told me it's unclear who may be behind is attack well, it is still not quite clear if that organization that claimed it was responsible if
5:04 pm
or if it was, it was real or receive help more questions than answers. and we have no official confirmation for or no confirmation from independent sources that it exists that such an organization underground organization. it is not why a clear why now, 6 months after that and after the rush invaded ukraine, not clear why such targets. i'm because i'm doing himself was well known, but he's not a was not i'm, they were active in that war, but on the a propaganda front i would say and am, if you read that letter that that organization published. ah, and it is written in a very, very pathetic language. some experts here say it is maybe too pathetic to be true. okay, so what were you saying is that sounds very amateurish. what, what's the likelihood of ukrainian special forces then being behind the attack?
5:05 pm
will it is possible, but i would say it is rather unlikely because it will, it will be very, untypical for ukrainian special forces. let's remember in the coming in the past months, ukrainian forces tried m. m at recess and 8 m separatist leaders, some military men, some ukrainians in the south, and in the east territories under russian control. people, cuba collaborating with the russian forces was russian. i'm the military administration there, war assassinations, but there were no and no such killings on the russian territory. no killings of women. this is something completely new and i don't see why ukrainian forces should do it. i'm just a few days a few weeks ago. ukrainians, presumably they did not say it officially, and he'd some military targets on the russian occupied crimea and dismay sense because it's ease with there was more of military targets. this is a completely different story. and in that letter of that organization,
5:06 pm
it claims at the it will not hit civilians and daria duncan and i was a civilian. she was not part of the military. can you tell me what sharpe hooton's reaction has been? well, we've heard some reaction a, he's a, he's a press service, a said that he sent a telegram of condolences, presumably to looking himself to the father of the victim, saying that she was a victim. that it was a ah, a vile act and saying that she was a patriot of russia. so very short, a short letter of condemnation by president booting, which is also a rather unusual anomaly. it takes time for russian president to react this time. he reacted after the russian secret service f as be claimed, or there was a ukrainian woman who killed at daria tonight. so it all happens very, very fast. a very fast investigation, very 1st of foster finger pointing towards ukraine and very fast reaction by the
5:07 pm
russian president. there was also reaction by duking himself. she was shad i'm that it was a no terrorist attack by ukraine and that he would like to see not just revenge, but he would like to see a victory over ukraine, a reportable ankle in keith ed. pakistani police have filed terrorism charges against former prime minister iran con. he threatened to suit pakistan's, police inspector general, and a judge during a speech at the weekend. the media watch felt the since band, with the broadcast of live addresses by con, accusing him of hate speech. hundreds of his support, his have surrounded his home in the capital, a slam about to try to prevent his race. i asked human rights activists for santa berry, if the case against the prime minister has legal merit. i think it does hold some grounds. although, you know, he used the word that he would take like
5:08 pm
a case even though you know they decide to take a case against a game against the other. you know, i'm a proficiency but i think his kind of stone was very threatening. instead of using that, you know, they may appeal to the high court, you know, against the judgement of the, of the judge at the scene of the judge. ricky, kind of use the language and ready technique don't. and specially in the context stuff pakistan be that of so few women who are denied judicially and he named that of women jobs and said, we are going to go against no, we have a case against it was kind of i think is sort of brightening and in that context, i'm sure there is legal people that they can think better that they disqualify as a n. d. a kitchen has a sort of dentist and edition which i think probably
5:09 pm
a bit too much. but i think he the be, he has been threatening at the common features and the state institutions calling the domain he's calling out. i think there's many inappropriate as part of a politician, especially also as a prime minister of pakistan. a case of, from what you're saying, extreme reactions from both sides. how would you say the case is being viewed in pakistan? i think this is, i just completely finished a total due, right. and because i think this is kind of a power struggle which is going within the state and within this political, you know, players. so you will see, you will find the both opinion on the both sides. them and people will see, you know, he should be, there should be a case against him because he has been actually challenging the state and the, especially the judiciary and the facts. and i, me a, you know,
5:10 pm
the country and then there are people who would say this is betty in his and i do, you know, within his right to express and freedom of expression that whatever he wants to see, and he can see that. so i think that is a complete divide within our society right now and within the political circles as well as for, you know, people are concerned. does the current government view, the full a p. m as a threat? absolutely. they do. you know, i think there are quite really all the kind of sport he's, he has and, and his supporters what actually quite violent in the sense no, not physically, but i think they keep questioning people and especially in the social media use video, abusive language against those what and against against b t i?
5:11 pm
so i think in that context also when he was in power, he has misuses baldwood and he has been also putting people in jail and trusting and on that getting his gene that was happening. so i think that the present regime is definitely a 2nd or so by him. and therefore, i think it was probably that's why they want to now take action against him because he's keep on crossing the deadlines and all that. or if he's saying that it hasn't been happened, i mean in the, in the back is any politics in of you all know the establishment has been very awful, you know, even when it is a civilian government at the back of that, you know, it's all this establishment was calling the shots, but i think in this case, now the situation is that this is confronting is confronting guy is going out
5:12 pm
in a different way. he's calling out and stating that he should continue to sports. and they did, you know, back in 2018. so i think this is actually the situation right now in the country. very interesting analysis there from hosanna barry in islamabad. thank you. a quick look at some other stories making headlines, south korea and the u. s have kicked off their biggest combined military exercises in years. the 40 drills are being viewed as a response to more frequent and threatening missile tests by north korea. and he will protest in sol held a rally in opposition to the drills in lebanon for the parts of grain silos in bay roots. puerto caught fire and collapsed 2 years after they were damaged in a huge explosion. the towers were among the last remaining chunks of the structure . more than 200 people were killed 2 years ago when fertilizer ignited him, one of history's biggest non nuclear explosions. from a n b, a champion,

dennis rodman says, he'll travel to russia to seek the release of feller, basketball star, britney rhina min has a history of dabbling in geo politics. based on his friendship with korean leader kim jong on friday was sentenced to 9 years in prison for possessing vapor conferences with a small amount of cannabis oil. with german chancellor, olaf schoultz is in canada and is expected to hold a news conference with his canadian count upon prime minister just intruder. we'll have that for you. as soon as it begins they're setting up right now as we speak. we'll have the latest and the latest analysis from what about political correspondence hotspot? kenya's opposition, leader riley. dingo has formerly challenged the results of the presidential election, claiming boating irregularities, accompanied by a crowd of support. his he arrived at the supreme court in nairobi, filing
5:14 pm
a petition, demanding a recount during his rival william bhutto was declared the winner of the recent vote. but several election commissioners have refused to verify the outcome. to see this is i think his 5th attempt to win the presidency is blame several of those losses on vote breaking the presidential election results a note last week, slippers since that continued struggle getting the forces for democracy and a good governess against the corruption cartoons that are so determined that they would stop at nothing to take control of the government of this country. his and i, roby, corresponding physics, manga with mole. so there's merely diary loading god finally made his threat through 2 talents their presidential election. but he thought that was announced last week, so he got to the supreme court, got down to 12, 30 pm,
5:15 pm
east african time flanked by some of his followers was feel singing and dancing in solidarity with him. he has asked me by the newspaper to the supreme court. this is by that time the trailer dean got is challenging the presidential petition, presidential results in 20 bad italians and the kids were thrown out in 2017 italians and the country went to i read on know this particular day it will take just about 14 days to know whether that country will be going to another to a fresh presidential election in the next 60 days, or the country will swear in on the president elect williams some wired or talk. so these are just some of the supports as who came in georgia to sunday and silly day do with him. they've been calling for electoral justice. and as they i, he, i think that may need just the support. a low dba german chancellor ala schultz is in canada for a 3 day visit, hoping to clinch deals to show up german. he's energy security. on the agenda for
5:16 pm
discussion between shoulds and canadian prime minister justin for dough. a supplies of liquefied natural gas and green hydrogen germany is under pressure to find alternative sources of energy to decrease its reliance on rational gas. while we're waiting for that press conference to begin, i'm joined by the w political corresponded husband. hans. this visit comes at a very interesting time, especially for the chancellor. he's under pressure to show up energy security here in germany, which is so relied on russia. they don't want to continue funding roches war in ukraine at the same time. the chances asking the consumers here in germany, us to decrease our reliance on energy and energy prices are going through the roof . how can canada help at this vital time? the short answer is sir, in the short term it can't. and in fact, the chancellor has been stressing that we cannot expect any immediate help for this
5:17 pm
coming winter. now the woods from canada. there are discussions about supplies of liquid natural gas coming from canada in a couple of years. time. certainly not, not in the recent future. in the near future, and there is also some discussion about green hydrogen. as you mentioned, the idea that wind power in canada could be used to produce green hydrogen, which would then be transported to europe to germany, to be used here. but these are all long term projects that are in fact have been been planned for a long time. but what cut transfer shorts is doing now is to demonstrate to the german public and to the european community that the long term plans to reduce reliance on russia on track that canada is likely to be a reliable and important partner in those plans. so that there is hope for the
5:18 pm
future, but not the most near future, not for the next few months, not for this winter look completely different. political kettle of fish, when you look at canada, in comparison to russia and the politics that are play here. but what about the logistics? because russian gas is cheat, germany has fried the economy and the big companies here of thrive on that and roster is a lot closer than canada. totally bit a bit about how much of a challenge it is getting that clean energy or clean politically energy from canada to germany. well, i think we need to talk about the 2 forms of energy that we are discussing here. the one is liquid natural gas, which he can't really describe is clean energy at both germany and can. it has expressed a determination to get away from fossil fuels, in other words, to get away from gas. so even if there should be new terminals to export liquid
5:19 pm
natural gas from canada on canada's, he's coach which doesn't exist yet to germany, across the sea with tankers to be a landed in germany at liquid natural gas terminals, which don't yet exist in germany. even that if that happens, it's only like 2 to be for a fairly short term for a few years. the more important plans are the ones concerning hydrogen. if hydrogen is produced with energy that is clean, in other words, in this case, we're talking about wind energy in kennedy canada, then that will possibly part to possibly can be exported on the same routes using similar tankers, or even the same time because in lucrative liquified form using the same kinds of terminals it both in canada and in germany. so if you build up an infrastructure for liquid natural gas, it's an infrastructure that potentially can be used for clean energy coming from
5:20 pm
the 5 hydrogen. that's how the politicians have been selling it at least, but they do want to wean germany off, but just rush and gas the gas altogether. so i guess that's one of the predicaments here is there. is there any chance of that happening any time sooner? i mean, i've spoken to too many clean energy providers. wind energy providers say from canada, who say it could happen so much sooner. but we see these german politicians running down the same roads, switching supplies of gas rather than making a bold move. i know it can't happen overnight, but, but it can happen to much, much sooner, according to the experts i've spoken to. well, if you're talking about this winter, then i think you can't expect it. how should i say green phones of energy to be able to solve the needs to, to meet the needs of people in germany and elsewhere in europe. a coming from clean
5:21 pm
sources? i think that that would be impossible basically. so you do need to find a supplies of dirty fossil fuels of they could natural gas of oil. in fact, germany is reactivating some of its coal power power stations, which had actually been shut down already in order to bring more electricity into the grid. in case they should not be not enough gas available, but these are all emergency plans that are being made at the moment to get across the winter. basically the northern european winter or the northern hemisphere winter. and at the same time, there are attempts or there are very strong plans, moves and to produce clean energy to force the production of clean energy through wind power, for instance, the solar power photo, electric power and so on. and that is where the whole green hydrogen situation,
5:22 pm
the green hydrogen plans come into play. and we haven't mentioned nuclear power yet half way. yes, they are obviously people who say that nuclear power is kind of neutral and that it should be reactivated in germany to the is such a discussion. germany obviously has decided to shut down all of its nuclear reactors and the last are going to be shut down at the end of this year. and there is some attempt to try and extend their, their activity into the new year. and so far it's not clear whether that's going to happen or not technically, i think it's possible. but politically, it's a very, very big a decision to make because it would reverse a major decision taken by the previous german government and the chancellor ungrammatical to shut on german nuclear power. i think at the moment it's not likely that is going to happen in germany, but certainly the group of people that love the group who say that nuclear power is
5:23 pm
kind of neutral and should, under these circumstances have a long stronger role in the energy supply. and that is certainly an argument that is being made very strongly at them. and just as interesting i, i think it's an interesting question is whether or not germans are still backing sholtes is move to break with rush when it comes to gas, even if it means higher energy prices. what do you think? i think at the moment the support for a sort of distancing germany from russia and trying to find alternative supplies is still very strong. and the german government is doing everything possible to increase the storage of gas for the winter. in other words, the full it's reserve capacities so that even if there should be a shortage of supply, this could be taken up out of reserves that are being built up at the moment. so
5:24 pm
that tool would be a way of becoming less dependent or being less dependent on russian supplies in the winter. but i think in the long term after germany has been really tied to russian gas for decades, i think in the long term there is a lot of support for trying to reduce that. certainly at least finding alternative supplies, such as canada. and that could take up some of the energy supply for germany that i come and not coming for russia anymore. okay, well let's listen in to what chance all that sold has to say he's just get up to the podium. yeah, everyone pays over there. he's here to audrey shimaya over there for like a year when they're me and canadians. i'm it for go addressing it public in french, alaska. i've known a lot for a number of years from when he was mayor at hamburg, strong and progressive. both have a voice,

worldwide any progressive priorities and we're here this week to continue the important work we've been doing over the past years on jobs trade and growing the middle class on energy security and fight in climate change. because canada can and will be a reliable supplier of the clean energy that a net 0 world requires. and of course, we have lots to do and will continue to work on protecting peace and democracy in europe and around the world. or shall gm reality demand day in man? she allan, to morrow in toronto will, did you have an opportunity to meet with the business community to see what we can do to foster investments in partnerships? we're going to talk about the business opportunities in the automotive sector. and critical minerals and here and much y'all, which is
5:27 pm
a leader in artificial intelligence. we will most certainly talk about how we can strengthen our cooperation for new technologies with the private sector to develop technologies and create good jobs in both of our countries. we have to make sure that everyone benefits we must continue to invest in people. because when we invest in people and in progressive policies, we fight inequality and we grow the economy. when moms don't have to choose between their career and their family, we grow the economy. a policy like $10.00 a day child care is economic policy. here in quebec studies show that child care alone has raised quebec g d p by 1.7 percent. for every dollar spent on early childhood education, the broader economy receives between a $1.50 and $2.80 in return. that's real results for people and
5:28 pm
the economy. and progressive leaders like olaf and i understand that the way to grow the economy is to make sure that we're supporting every one's ability to participate in their shots. or you should see why i don't chance show this. and i will also discuss what we can do regard to climate change on bucks, cylinders, carvin, when she was battling this rate and how to strengthen the economy, and facilitate the world wide transition to clean energy for the 2 carbon neutral world. canada must and will become a reliable producer of clean energy. tomorrow we will go to newfoundland labrador to handle the intent of fair on hydrogen and make an important announcement in regard to our energy partnership. fueling energy on cash is a more important than ever issue because of the threat posed by climate change. but
5:29 pm
also because of the war between russia and ukraine, continue talking about our support for ukraine to morrow. will both participate in a virtual summit for crimea, or we'll talk about what we're doing to provide support for ukraine. oh, no, bertha illness. we cannot, and we will not become accustomed to the horrors of canada williams roy or the phone that democrats in japan, canada, will be here, actually offend democracy and to defend ukraine's on to that it was a defense democracy. we'll continue to work with allies such as germany, partners on the world stage because of our shared values in a world where our institutions are being threatened, where we face complex challenges. populism and other simplistic solutions are simply not the answer. liberal democratic values, strong institutions. these are the things that valve that guarantee our freedom
5:30 pm
