yes, so in doing this major rebranding i, when she took her the throne in 19 fifties, she was empress. i mean it, if this is an empire and she changed that over the last 70 years from a kind of a ruling party, a ruling, a body to this idea of service. and this is underway, this transformation before lisbeth that she kept this up. and this rebranding was fast and fast, the successful. okay. and, and just building on that idea of service. i'd like to play for our listeners. ah, the 1st comments on that king charles a 3rd made when she had completed the accession council and been officially proclaimed king i laws lives and gentlemen. it is my most sorrow who duty to announce to you the death of my beloved mother, the queen. i know how deeply you,

in turn nation and i think i may say the whole world sympathized with me. in the irreparable loss, we've all suffered. it is the gracious consolation to me to know of the sympathy expressed by so many to my sister and brothers. and that such overwhelming affection and support should be extended to our whole family in our loss. to all of us as a family, as to this kingdom and the wider family of nations, of which it is a part. my mother gave an example of lifelong love. and of selfless service. my mother's reign was unequalled in its duration, its dedication and his devotion, even as we grieve,

we give thanks for this most faithful life. i am deeply aware of this great inheritance and of the duties and heavy responsibilities of sovereignty which have now passed to me. in taking up these responsibilities, i shall strive to follow the inspiring example. i have been set in upholding constitutional government and to seek the peace, harmony, and prosperity of the peoples of these islands and of the commonwealth realms and territories throughout the world. in this purpose, i know that i should be upheld by the affection and loyalty of the peoples who sovereign i have been called upon to be. and that in the discharge of these duties,

i will be guided by the counsel of their elected parlance. in all this, i am profoundly encouraged by the constant support of my beloved wife. i take this opportunity to confirm my willingness and intention to continue the tradition of surrendering the hereditary revenues, including the crown of state to my government for the benefit of all in return for the sovereign grant, which supports my official duties as head of state and head of nation and in carrying out the heavy task that has been laid upon and to which i now dedicate what remains to me of my life. i pray for the guidance

and help of almighty god. and that was, of course, controls a 3rd making his 1st declaration after being proclaimed king henry cleavers. here with me in the studio, what did you make of the i was interesting, wasn't it? i mean he, this is him accepting what he says, god has a laid upon him this new role as king. so he thought the framing was quite nice as well. it was very interesting to see he's standing there. he mentioned his wife camilla. she's standing right there. next to her was prince william. he didn't talk about prince william, but prince william is that and prince william has been massive be visible all the way through this and we'll be over the next couple of weeks. i'm absolutely convinced he's the future from on a key. if we were talking earlier on about, you know, continuing the monarchy and securing the future for the mona key. that man, is it? him, he and his, his family and prince charles and king charles in many ways is really the

transitional king, even though he says he, he'll, he'll rule for the rest of his life in this, in this statement, this is him really laying out in many ways the deal that was struck a long time ago between the monarchy and the constitutional government of the, the democratic government that britain has. he talks about the, he's aware of this great inheritance, the duties of responsibilities. he's going to follow his mother in this. and then he very specifically mentioned the constitutional government, we'll say later on talks about how he, it will be guided by the counsel of elected politicians of the people he, wolves over. so he's not really going to be ruling and you know, this is important. this will be mentioned over and over again as we go through towards his coronation, which will be happening at an unknown date in the future. this has to be re stated, we have this monarchy, but we have a democratic, to some extent democratic government in the u. k. and this is steal,

and this is not often shown. and that what we've seen today is this acknowledgment of the new king. and again, laying out the different centers of power within and between the 2 different parts of the british constitution. ok, thanks hannah. last night a remembrance service for queen elizabeth took place in saint paul's cathedral in london. get a reminder of that, and of what we heard from king charles yesterday. at saint paul's cathedral, mona's from all walks of life congregated to pay their respects to the u. k. longest serving monic prime minister less trust and opposition leader kiss darma were among the attendees. hundreds of others had queued up for tickets the event to commemorate the queen's life and her legacy.

earlier in the day and now king charles greeted well wishes outside buckingham palace where emotions were still rule unfairly. oh, poor girl, sandra joe lovingly thought i was a very precious place to come to an alleged world diarrhea. so there's a joy, the sadness bottles o celebration. king charles and his wife camilla made their way through the palace gates for the 1st time as king and queen consoles. and charles vowed to follow his mother's example as moronic as the queen herself did with such unswerving devotion. i too no solemnly pledged myself throughout the remaining time. god groan smith,

to uphold the constitutional principles at the heart of our nation. and wherever you may live in the united kingdom, or in the realms and territories across the world, and whatever may be your background or beliefs i shall endeavor to serve you with loyalty, respect, and love. as i have throughout my life, many hope than you, monica will live up to his mother's image by keeping a steady hand at the helm. as the u. k. navigates through turbulent times and i'm joined again by hannah clever here in the studio, and i just want to come back to the comments you are making earlier after we heard king charles the 3rd make a statement of 3 and a half minute speech after he was proclaimed king, it was kind of a job description. he provided a list of promises. i think perhaps tell me if i'm wrong, just to remind his subjects what he's therefore,

as well as the people in the commonwealth. but there was an emotional note as well when he talked about his mother and how she said an example for him. can you, can you tell me about about that? why would you do that beyond just morning? his mother, it's passive, i think, a very wise and obvious strategy to link himself to her. she was so popular and remain so popular, not only within the u. k, but everywhere. you'd be crazy not to anchor himself with her and see if he can take some of that popularity and take some of that sense of service and all those things that people always attribute to her into the beginning of his reign. so that i think he's going to be very important for him to continue doing. the other thing that i think is interesting over the last couple of days, we've heard him speak a couple of times and he has mentioned more emotional things. he's met used the
12:25 pm
word mother a lot, and i think that is a lesson that he learned 25 years ago when his 1st wife diana died. and there was seem to be a real lack of emotion coming from the house of windsor, rightly or wrongly, but they were heavily criticized for that is one of the most the most difficult time, some of the times when the vote family is most unpopular because they didn't seem to really care, they didn't show that they had, they seemed bloodless. and since then, that was a lesson that the queen learnt and the lesson that king charles now is using to show some emotion to make him seem and make himself seem more human. and so he will be saying more emotional things about his, his mother. and that is a clear departure i think from his mother's an old fashioned, loved the old fashioned manner, which was to keep everything in that british step off, a stiff upper lip. that was kind of blown apart when they saw the depth and breadth
12:26 pm
of emotion that was, was sparked by the death of princess diana, the last princess of wales. i'm gonna get her in, i just want to tell her and we're going to come back to that. i apologize for the interruption. so want to tell our viewers that we have been looking at pictures of buckingham palace where people are gathered. it looks like in their thousands awaiting the return of their new king. i will come back to you hannah, please continue. yeah. what this looks like as she was saying, some of the privy council members going back. i left the privy council. i think i just saw this tougher. they were the people who kind of witnessed this proclamation of a king charles asked the new king a very broad collection of i think we so 5 former prime ministers various different or hi. hi. hi, guys, from the, from the church. all sorts of members of the british establishment were part of
12:27 pm
that witnessing and signing this letter. that said, yes, we do have a new king. the actual king was created the moment that the queen died. there is never a gap there. this is not them making him king, this is them, acknowledging that he's king and that's what they've been doing today. and that that acknowledgement is now being officially carried out through the country. we were just talking, i think about the sort of modernization, the emotional modernization of the monarchy under charles, which was set off as you were saying when princess diana died in that tunnel in paris 25 years ago. the royal family was seen as insensitive not react, and the queen in particular, and there's a sudden opening up. and his 1st speech once she had been proclaimed king had that emotional tenor to it. do you think that, you know, governor where i hopes forgiven rain that way? i think we're having him govern. um i, i think this is going to be part of his, his image. i think that has to be part of his image and he's really going to have
12:28 pm
to be looking forward. he's going to be working hand in hand with his oldest child's oldest son, william. and that's the way they're going to go. it's going to be a more modern monarchy. okay, thanks so much for that. in so many cleaner flavor. we've been covering the proclamation of king charles the 3rd force. last time this happened was more than 70 years ago. just going to give you a reminder of the top story we're following for you. prince charles, the 3rd has been proclaimed king in an efficient ceremony at saint james palace automatically became king when his mother, queen elizabeth the 2nd died on thursday, but the accessing ceremony is a key constitutional and ceremonial stuff coming up next, check in follows as social media celebrity as he tours the capitals of europe, as after the break from me, panic lever and the entire news team here. thanks for watching.
