i will be guided by the counsel of their elected parliaments. in all this, i am profoundly encouraged by the constant support of my beloved wife. i take this opportunity to confirm my willingness and intention to continue the tradition of surrendering the hereditary revenues, including the crown of state to my government for the benefit of all in return for the sovereign grant, which supports my official duties as head of state and head of nation and in carrying out the heavy task that has been laid upon and to which i now dedicate what remains to me of my life. i pray for the guidance

and help of almighty god con osman is standing by in central london for as hello car. now people are out in the numbers. witness in history. what's happening where you are yet it has been historic day, a whirlwind day of roland week, really. and that continues to day behind me in just a few short moments. of course with king charles the 3rd now being officially declared as king, senior members of parliament. we'll have to now come back here to westminster, to take a new oath of allegiance to the new king. i mean, think about what this parliament has seen in the past few days just a few days ago. earlier this week they had a different prime minister and a different monarch. that is all now changed. in fact, official business within the houses of parliament cannot continue until they take a new oath to the new king. of course, that other oath they'd already taken to queen elizabeth. and we will see later on,
2:07 pm
of course, more tributes in a very rare saturday's session to the life of queen elizabeth. i mean, even i say it's quite overwhelming what all that's been going on. and although we are witnessing you've been talking to people under ground, what are the telling you about the day's advance sofa i have, i mean this has been a really exciting day to be honest, one full of an anticipation. we were outside of saint james's palace, as the new king was being declared and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. there were hundreds of people lining the street outside of that palace hoping for a glimpse of what was going on inside, hoping to see their new king. it was amazing to watch as the royal limousine pulled out from saint james's palace, with the new king inside, everybody started cheering, started clapping. there were spontaneous sings of god. bless the king. and you can

just tell that to day, despite the sadness of the queen's passing, there is that excitement in the air. however, of course there are still questions surrounding of king charles. he does not have the same popularity that his mother had. his popularity as prince had been in around the 40 percent area. the queen of course, enjoyed popularity in the 70 percent range. so there are still a few questions surrounding the king. but for to day there's definitely that excitement in the air in london. yeah, i mean, i see, right. he said, i mean change how's a bed is not queen elizabeth. what do people expect from him cause he really has some big shoes to fill, doesn't he? oh, absolutely. this is a very tough act to follow. in fact, i don't think anybody would be able to do that and nobody should want to either. this will be a different mon, arca, a difference royal family. now without the clean and with king charles at the helm . and there are some questions about how he might handle that role. of course,
2:09 pm
he's been in the public spotlight for a long time, but now at age 73, he is finally taking over. he's been a bit of an activist in the past. so summer questioning whether he'll be able to give that up to separate himself from his charity work environmental work and simply lead a more a political life on the throne. as his mother did, there are some questions as well about his prior letters that he sent to prime ministers and other members of government. whether he might continue to scale back and modernize the royal family and whether or not he might address the colonial passed of the royal family. all of that, of course, we'll wait. this is a week at a time of morning here in england and in the united kingdom. and he's just now beginning to set the tone of glory his time on the throne, whom we understand the coronation is expected to tip, at least that sometime next year. why does it take place later?
2:10 pm
right, i think a lot of people watching to day might think, hey, isn't this the coronation that that's a separate event. so that's when the king is actually crowned today, was the official proclamation of the king. the actual coronation is a very complicated process. they're expecting dozens of heads of state to attend that ceremony. thousands, hundreds of thousands of people to watch. just to give you a sense of how complicated it is. queen elizabeth, after she took the throne, it took about 16 months for her coronation to take place. just even today with the events that we've seen, that there is security everywhere. there are police everywhere. it just gives you a sense of the complicated plans that need to take place. we don't have an official date yet for the coordination, what it will likely take months, possibly even in the next year con osman in london. thank you. and i hope you stick around, we'll come to you with some more questions. i'm sure now,
2:11 pm
did of your father on nikita this would be a studio hello and good to have you. i mean, you've, you've been on a row, you've been back and forth, you know, really digesting, or that's been happening. it's been, it's been quite a long day. i mean, the last time this event happened was more than 70 years ago. has anything changed since the last the world has turned a couple of times? yeah. oh, yes. what you've seen today is really just to a pumpkin ceremonial move, but it's, it's quite interesting, very interesting to watch what's happened today is that this, the, the, it's the official declaration that we have a new king. now he became king the instant that his mother died. there is this great edition within the british monarchy that there will never, not be a monarch. so the moment that one dies, the next one instantly becomes the person in charge. and today has been at the ceremony. which has never been televised before 70 years ago wasn't feasible,
2:12 pm
and we're in a more open and more democratic age. and so we've seen this, this exception counsel for full as well. i think 6, i counted a former prime minister there all the great, good. well, the great of british establishment there from the church and politicians are all there witnessing this declaration that charles is now king. and then we had a really interesting a few moments where he basically gave the authority of the, of the royal family to the government to continue doing its business. and that's where you see the real kind of nuts and bolts of the british constitution, which is a kind of fudge between having this royal family that's kind of in charge, but not really. and this government elected by the people which is also kind of in charge but not really. and you have this kind of grinding of the gears between them . and that was really interesting to see. he was repeatedly asked whether the
2:13 pm
government could use the seal of this and the seal of that, and that is basically the governing authority. so he granted all of that. and nobody's ever seen that before. apart from the people who would have been standing there 70 years ago. so that was fascinating to see. and now you've got various different ceremonial soldiers and stuff going around the, the old city of london. and then beyond london out through the u. k. proclaiming that we have a new king, not that anybody's missed that news, i should imagine. but this is traditional idea that everybody has to be told. and this is part of this exception. exceptions of him as a new king telling everybody this is the case. you said it a bit earlier, the real family has gone through different stages, finding different ways austin, relevant. how would you, how do you think people view the royal family now compared to before as a change in any way? it's changed dramatically. i think,
2:14 pm
particularly in the last 25 years 25 years ago. 1997, the death of princess diana princess of wales child's 1st wife. that was a real changing moment for that for the royal family. they misjudged an awful lot of things. from that moment beforehand it, it'll be getting very messy. everybody, the tablo passive in ripping their marriage apart and then the separation apart. then they got to force and then she died. and there was this massive outpouring of grief across the world, really, she was a very much love to women massively in the public eye. and i think nobody expected there to be such an amazing group mass that morning for her. and it was a shock. she was young woman, she died next and it wasn't expected like the death of elizabeth. the 2nd was and they didn't to, the royal family failed really to grab that moment and to react in a way that the people wanted them to. and since then they have changed a lot since then. even queen elizabeth shown much more heart as shown what much
2:15 pm
more emotion and chance is picked up on that and the speeches he's made the last couple of days. he has taken deliberate, kind of note of his own emotions and shown some of those he and his wife camilla yesterday, when they arrived at buckingham palace mediately, went out and started shaking people's hand. woman even kissed him completely goes well protocol, but you know, she wasn't taken to the tower and executed as far as we know. and then they walked into buckingham palace. so all of that is much more touchy feely. and i think that is showing signs of how he wants to be. i think he learned his lesson from 9097, a new wife at his side. and she's absolutely with him in this kind of slightly, modernizing, slightly opening up of the monarchy, you know, for, for those that really want to understand the, the essence of them are coming to. so how queen elizabeth, now delete, conducted herself. now there's a controls where there's the moon.
