[000:00:00;00] ah, subscribe to be done documentary on you to blue. ah ah, this is deed of the news live from berlin. russia's bridge to crimea partially, collapses from massive explosion. moscow says 3 people are dead, a blast that disrupts a vital link between the russian mainland and the illegally annexed peninsula. also
8:01 pm
coming up. anti government demonstrations erupt again in iran. protesters clash with security forces over last month's death of a woman in police custody. and bundles, legal, football, struggling liver, cuz and demolished, shall go for neil on saturday in the 1st match on the new coach. shabby alonzo that and much more coming up later in our sports segment. ah. told me all logical welcome to the program. russia's transport ministry says traffic is slowly resuming on the bridge, connecting crimea to russia after it suffered major damage in an explosion this morning. the bridge is a key road and rail link from the russian mainland to the illegally annex crimean peninsula. the mosque was blaming the blast on
8:02 pm
a truck bombing and says 3 people were killed, but was once a symbol of rushes dominance over the illegally, annexed territory of crimea, has now partly fallen into the sea. an attack on the bridge linking the 2 has damaged a key russian military supply line and claimed lives. it's also causing chaos for crimean residents and tourists forcing them to wait in queues that stretch kilometers as they wait to take ferries instead of water. they don't say anything, so we're just waiting to board the ferry. were you on the bridge at the time of the explosion of the approval for leo? no, we were resting. where returning from holiday while ukraine has not claimed responsibility . many military analysts are already assuming keith is behind the attack. ukraine has repeatedly threatened to strike the crimean bridge,
8:03 pm
which is the only direct road and rail link between russia and crimea. the railway is a cave route for troops and materiel to the front lines of russia's war in ukraine, but it also carries symbolic value. vladimir putin ordered its construction after seizing crimea in 2014, and inaugurated its opening behind the wheel of a truck. so many ukrainians, the timing of the attack has made the taste of victory even sweeter than the militia dawn. it was wonderful when i woke up and read the news. i thought what i mean, i expected that something was going to happen because yesterday was putin's 70th birthday. so i was waiting for a present from the ukrainian forces last night. i get your ballot for the room and it happened. it was a bit delayed, but that's life. i hope the russian dictator can forgive us, which i,
8:04 pm
at the thought of the world will now wait and see just how putin response, many fear an escalation after another ukrainian victory puts russian forces on the back foot. once again, it rushes coldest blast and a ukrainian act of terror. but keith says moscow may have had a hand in it. earlier on the tele sacramento from king's college london told us who she thought was behind the explosion. well i, i think it's, it's quite likely that ukraine young sort of special operatives, you know, what behind this i talk, i think they were at some point also meeting to a to, you know, publicly there were reports of that in some of a ukrainian newspapers. so i think it is a days from the information we have so far it's, it's likely that the ukrainians are behind it. it makes sense also operationally, because it really limits that sort of the ability of russia to supply, you know,
8:05 pm
it forces not only in the area of credit song, but also around maybe a around the areas that controls is up. patricia. so it is a serious blow to russia, sort of sort of supply system on ability to, to continue with a fight effectively in areas where it is sort of under challenge from ukrainian on forces. with that significance in mind, what kind of action do you expect from russia following the blast? what i mean, we've seen russia already sort of changing all put to placing a, you know, generally say, survey sort of in charge of the entire sort of military campaign. so she's someone who has been responsible for operations in syria. so in an attempt to sort of to carry out more effective military operations. but you know, this might not really change much on the ground. i think russia good is the lake. and by, for example,
8:06 pm
a bargain indiscriminately cities in your brain by deciding to sort of, i try to give more more, more actively and more effectively. so i think that we can expect to sort of indiscriminate in discriminatory bombing taking place in the next few days because that's been sort of the usual reaction of protein, you know, to sort of finish out and mass and discriminate a lot of civilians as of an emotional reaction which doesn't really have a military impact that was done with psycho mosul from king's college london. in iran, protesters clashed with security forces and fresh anti regime demonstrations and was allegedly shot dead in his car. and then on dodge the capital of kurdistan, province rights groups based in europe say the victim was shot after. honking at security forces demonstrations over the death of a woman in custody,
8:07 pm
or in the 4th week. iran denies a death was caused by police brutality leave i, as is the iran project director at the international crisis group and independent thing tag, mr. vice. welcome to the w news. now the protest are entering their 4th week. are you surprised that the level of outrage has continued for this long? no, not necessarily. there is so much pent up frustration within the iranian society and a sense of hopelessness because the system over the years has stymied and sabotaged any possibility of reforms and evolutionary change. so it has basically left no place and no space or to people to demand for change or ordered and on the street. so it's not surprising. and we see these images of, of women, of young girls at the forefront of these protest chanting slogans unheard of in
8:08 pm
iran. what does the signify to you? look at, 1st of all, it is not unheard of to ask for a change of fundamental change in the system and debt to dictator. these are slogans we started hearing in 2009 during the green movement. but the reality is that it took some time for narrow objectives to turn into demands for fundamental change this time had happened almost from the get go. and again, the reason is that the system has proven itself to be completely on reform, a bowl and has left no space for any other political or social, or cultural or economic reforms. but you know, the reality is this is a wide spread movement. but the system is also bound to crack down and try to prevent this from turning into any substantial threat. it hasn't yet deployed its big guns like the revolutionary guards. it has uh so for killer tens of
8:09 pm
protesters, but this can get bloodier if it continues over the next few weeks. do you think the protesters will be able to maintain that defiance? even if this violence escalates? it appears that the protests are changing form instead of being continuously present on the streets is turning into a civil resistance towards the system. in that sense, yes, it is likely that it can continue in the long run at the low simmer. but then the question is, what would it really achieve? because this is a system in iran that believes that if you give an inch to the, to the protesters, they will ask for a yard. and so it is very unlikely to compromise. and again, the processors have increasingly little to lose. so i think this is a confrontation that is continue, at least for the foreseeable future. right. i leave i as of international crisis group,
