7:31 pm
welcome to another edition of your max or if mir house. megan lee has a look at what else we've got coming up on today's show. we follow our to youtube or is allison and eric as they eat their way through italy. pan, we find out what give hunger is famous tokai wine, it sweetness. whenever i take a bath, i love to fill up the tub with lots and lots of bubbles and simply think into this fluffy foam or one german are the thought potential in these foamy forms. and she decided to develop the idea on a bigger scale. stephanie learning now creates giant installations with flowing, colorful bubbles, but her works last only as long as the bubbles were hold up. well, we caught up with her for her latest work in paris.
7:32 pm
ah, the square in front of the santa won't be due in paris is covered with millions of colorful soap bubbles. this piece of art is called island of foam, and it's the work of stephanie learning. even she, i'm stephanie learning and i work with colored family because i'm fascinated by hopefulness. so temporary and yet and 2011. the artist was taking a bath when she suddenly came up with the idea of turning foam into art. this foam is 95 percent water, 4 percent food coloring and one percent biodegradable dishwashing liquid. what i was shown class and yet what fascinates me about found it had been is how lively and moldable it is. is the sin, how it has no solid outer boundaries, and especially how you can color it. i think i'd fabric. stephanie learning is
7:33 pm
bubbling over with creative ideas from whole buildings, to empty factory home. one more and public spaces. her 3 d works of art are taking the world by storm one. now what a sin, i'm glad to have the chance to work with colored film. so i guess it's so voluminous. and so it lends the color a spatial dimension. and of course time plays a role here to one of my because my art is never done as if it's created. you can watch it forming, growing and changing, and then watch it disappear again. it's never done. what's happening here. the artist is preparing things for the afternoon. the 1st step is to mix the food coloring into hot water. she needs 600 leaders of colored water for her foam art or about 3 bath tubs of it. yeah, and i did. yeah. i grew up in communist east germany. i was 11 when the berlin wall fell, the bell sickly, grew up, improvising condo that gave me the strive to invent things, try them out,
7:34 pm
combine and new ways, or we purpose them. i think it's incredibly exciting to make your own creation out of them. that's what it is that i was thinking of last month. the equipment stephanie learning uses for her foam are as inventive to i'm gonna blow, we've got blue, red and yellow. and basically the fluids in here are lost and it comes out here and runs into this garden mixing unit i. bree purpose did, and i put in the 3 colors here, then i can turn the colors on it off. if i mix blue and yellow when i get green, of course. and that basically green coloring runs through here and, and is split between the 2 pipes from the 2 pumps. 2 houses go directly up to these 2 phone machines. stephanie leanings, foam installation as being presented at the ne blanche art festival in paris. but is it real art more just fun with colors? well, you might think it's silly at 1st, but it's quite beautiful. and sometimes art is just beautiful. so this might also
7:35 pm
be art. art that's free for every one de la. o meg, i'd too much because i do think it's odd because it triggers emotions. it makes you want to dive into the foam. it's joyful, it definitely has an impact on news. unfair, unassailable gum tankless. as on the one hand, it's art, it's very pretty. and it draws people in it's click on the other hand, i still think it's wasteful. what's the point of it? exactly said exactly. oh, most people. yeah. i think art can also be humorous. i don't think the one rolls out. the other dish was he spoke with stephanie learning has enjoyed showcasing her work in paris and even hands out parts of it to her enthusiastic audience at the end even for free. i feel good about how it went and i'm glad the equipment worked . everything went fine and the winds calm down a bit busy. i think it turned out to be a beautiful mess. so of
7:36 pm
a one. and stephanie learning and her team also apt to make sure the mass completely disappears again once her presentation comes to an end. but all it takes is some water from a garden hose. and the colorful island of foam is gone. traveling through europe by car is a dream for many tourists who come here for a visit, but to american you 2 birds have taken on and even bare challenge there visiting sites here in, in electric camper van. now we have been following their journey on your o max, and we've already seen some of the highlights as well of some of the difficulties that they have encountered along the way from germany to italy. well, today their adventure continues along the italian riviera where they are forced to leave their even behind. ah,
7:37 pm
good morning. good morning. allison and eric again, we have arrived at the 5 lans, also known as to what day were here, and it is beautiful. i guess it's so beautiful. ah, we're taking a break from the caper band today, mainly because cars are not allowed in the city. it's called the 5 lands, but it's actually more about the 5 villages in the area. and they're super unique because they're all carved into the cliffside. they're made up of these incredibly colorful buildings. they are so picturesque and they sit right next to the sea. so you have this christine, blue, water, complimenting all the cultural buildings in the villages. it's so the plan today is to visit each of the 5 villages, but also eat some local dishes along the way. all right, another perfect and delicious day in italy starts right now.
7:38 pm
awe we have made our 1st official food stop. we have come few pet to syria, laura for this. this little piece of pie is called them mantra, sierra, and this is believe apricots jam at the bottom, some custard, and then a chocolate layer. all sandwich between this lovely peach tree. it tastes like perfectly melted hot cocoa or something like that in case form. we're currently in vanessa, and that is monta row. so where we started this morning to get in between each city, you have several options you could drive, but you have to go up through these winding mountain roads and it takes an extremely long amount of time. another option is you can actually hike between
7:39 pm
every city. there is also a ferry on the water that you can take, but there is a 4th option. the best option, the option that we're doing, and that is the train because it cuts through all of these hills and takes about 4 minutes to get in between each town. and so that of an hour or so with for like those stairs were never going to in, oh yeah, he kept going like round one corner and you couldn't really see. and you turn one and be like, oh my god of at double left would have already done, but our restaurant is conveniently located right at the top of the stairs. with this is passed. oh, pasta. jenko tara is actually part of a bigger region called luxurious and pesto was invented here, and it's on all sorts of different pastors and lasagna on bruschetta. it's in and
7:40 pm
on all the things here. to be honest, i was actually more excited about this. see best ravioli now, man to sleep, so dang delicious with. wow, that is very, very good. and then hit your tongue. it's a flavor explosion. so cheesy and buttery and just packed full of flavor. i'm a huge fan of the get the sea bass ravioli. come here guys, we made it to the southern most village. real majority y'all. a guy who is another thing is region is actually known for. they have very good katya. it's actually delicious. and you guys know the dough itself is the star of a couch. i mean, obviously the ingredients are delicious, but just so soft and pillowy. then you have all this oil cake on the top. now it is
7:41 pm
a lot like pizza, but just basically thicker. what an awesome spot effect got. you checked out. mm. ah. finally, you have got to catch the sunset from one of the cities. we chose, man rolla, as the final city. we haven't seen you guys, but we're here. it's awesome because you still have new to the city of there at sunset over there. amazing company right here. oh to, oh, wonderful, wonderful day. we're about to hit the road. we only have 100 kilometers range because we weren't able to charge here. we kept tripping the breaker. that will probably last for 50 kilometers. yeah. because we have to drive up to get over to the mountains and air. stay tuned for our next episode in the series to see if were stranded on the side of the road and our amazing electric vehicle. i. well, let's hope they make it. normally when i order wind from a restaurant,
7:42 pm
it's from france or italy, or occasionally from california. but if i'm looking for a special dessert wine, it helps to look further east towards hungary. the tokai region of the country is known for its wine of the same name. it's typically golden and sweet and was once the favorite of kings and queens across europe. but what you may not realize about took high wine is that it gets it sweet character from rotten grapes. ah, so this is we'll try this, this paper call we are looking for. and also the boatright is itself, it can be seen over there. and here as well as it's developing day by day, but most the need to become as concentrated as it can be. i would say that we would rate a little bit more so that we can produce higher quality. it is
7:43 pm
a very hires because if it gets rainy, then we can lose all the vineyards of tow chi and northeastern hungary produce a wine that has been the staff of legends for centuries. pope's kings and royal dynasties have all raved about this extraordinary sweet wine talk. hi. it's really difficult to put it into this, but so we are creating something solid. so we are creating a unique, combined specialties, sorta. i sing that is something big. it was the wine of kings and the king of wines to french king louis the 14th german poet. johan both gang from good. her was also a fan, as was russian empress catherine the great with some 5500

hector is under cultivation. this wine region is relatively small. the history behind it though is much bigger. the dagon failed families, wine estate is part of it. mattie taught has managed it since 1994, continuing a 150 year old family tradition. it's very important for us to keep the traditional her wines that he the traditional technology, the traditional varieties on the traditional set up. but also introduce all the modern technology which became available as soon. so since the ninety's, typically the tow chi hills is the morning fog, this type of climate creates the ideal conditions for this wine. the dampness rising from nearby rivers and the generally mild temperatures of autumn favor the po tried, has fungus or noble wrought infecting the grapes. this is norbert and not

drop. there is a huge difference between because of the but try. these are grapes a gets concentrated, and the crazy increases day by day if the bus right is it can grow. so this is something that is good and very thing for no other wine or great harvest demands as much work as the tow kite. every grape has to be picked individually because the book tried us ripens at different times. the grapes don't all swivel down to raise and like us who berries at once. when the boat try, this is us, golden, the going dividend. and the piggy assholes. and then we, they, then we pick again and again. so usually we can go to the st times, depending on the vintage usa. later the concentrated g said the sweet acid grapes will be mixed with a base wine and poured into wooden barrels for aging. a unique feature of the region's wine cellar is, is there walls, which are covered with

a fungus the most important job it does. it's an indicator this more likes the same exact climate, the same exact temperature, humidity, and especially the, the continuity of these climate, which is the best for the aging of sweet white to to chi wine ages in the cask for at least 2 years. many of the wines remain drinkable for up to 100 years. connoisseurs have pay thousands of euros for special. it is we even have it in as it is said that the next are the natural essential which is coming from the also berries. it is, it is also mentioned. so i would say that it is our nation and their history ta kinds, especially wine, with the unique history and a promising future. thanks

to the internet, we are more connected than ever yet. i still experience culture shock when i travel to different countries. for example, when i 1st came to germany, i was taken aback at how quiet the germans are on trains, or at the airport. now i'm used to having lots of noise around me when traveling, and americans have a tendency to talk very loudly when out and about. well, my british colleague, rachel stuart, also found certain things here in germany. surprising when she 1st arrived here, beginning with a vegetable that is hard to define funded, pretty amazing that evening on globalized into connected world. when you go to another country, you're so bound to find things you never seen before. this experience is also going to be completely different for each birth. so here's my list of 7 things that made me go on. what, when i saw them here in germany for the very 1st time,
7:48 pm
that up an odd looking vegetable that the staple in both cash, mary, anne, german cooking, the coral gobby, its name comes from the words for cabbage and turn it, but actually belongs to the cabbage. family, so how do we call gobby and germany got out a side dish with potatoes to steamed with sauce or ra as in a casserole and salad it. i definitely think it's stacy. oh, the 1st time i did this to a window in germany. i thought i broken the kept fence, the or tilt window is standard here and germany turn the handle like this. and it opens completely but turn the handle all away and the window or door will tilt inwards. this practical double hinged window style seems to have originated here in germany, and it's now spread to many other countries. tourist and london often get excited about trip, red, double decker bus. but for me, it's all about the double deck, a trade. ah. in fact, these kind of double decker trains can be found in many countries all over the

world. but i set my eyes on one in germany and the novelty still haven't worn off something or rather some one i had never seen before. i came to germany a, gotten ecologist, that's no out of the ordinary in the u. k. but here in germany, women tend to go at least once a year for a full check up of the phone up to women. doctor, it took me awhile to pluck up the courage, but don't worry, it's really no big deal. twice a year the germans take the cost of the garbage and change the tires from winter to summer and back again. i've never actually heard of the concept of winter tires before and to be honest, it seemed a tad able to talk. i mean, yeah, sure it can snow. yeah. but it's not canada, but what exactly are the rules? when does even caught salt below 7 degrees celsius? you should use winter tires october the so that's why we have the old rule from october to eastern 9. you should strap on the winter tires people, all these groups are important to help the tire client, the no one can fly summer tires. don't need that. next up,

this sign. when you're in a standing up right? not necessarily many men in germany preferred to take a seat, at least in the right time. it's such an important cultural habit that it's proponents have a specific name that was fitting peer. this method means no mess from flashback or poor. on one study even suggested it can not help sometimes you don't realize that something's missing in your life until it comes along. a good example of that is ice cream that looks like spaghetti on and get the i is a hot favorite in germany. i think it was invented in mannheim, 50 years ago, pushing vanilla ice cream through a pasta making consumption. then that story pureed with its monte souls and grated white chocolate. when upon m g, i went to these things when you for you. now if you'll excuse me, i'm about to get cold from integrated with the bonus because he,

i clean and when i was a kid, i used to like to ride my little skateboard, but a lot of guys used to long board and i was always amazed at how they could do it. now, longboarding originated from surfing, but it always seemed to me a lot harder to ride on land than on water. well, besides doing various tricks, there is even another level of longboarding. there are also people who can dance on it. ah, the sprawling seen through a cash cash natural park near portugal capital. lisbon is a much loved tourist attraction and a popular longboarding venue. it's also ideal for long board dancing an art form that combines freestyle skating surfing and dance. with high, i'm 2 and my pronouns are they them?

7:53 pm
if you want to start language dancing and actually you have to suck with longboarding, which is very accessible, in my opinion, everyone can just stand on the board and try to cruise on it. and once you're feeling a bit comfortable with cruising, carving, pushing, than you can, everyone can actually lat learned on what you is king to get more people interested in this crossover sport and offers long board dancing lessons all over europe. the very 1st thing that you tend, if she wants to start with lung for dancing a sir. very simple step for the beginning. so what you basically do with your feet is taking the front foot to the right edge, left foot to the left edge, and then you just lift one here and then you switch to the other one. so basically you do a weight shift between both feet. now i'm going to show the same step, why writing what we do again, stepping into the right position as explained,
7:54 pm
lift the heel and do it. maybe 2 beats. and maybe even want to move a bit and give it your own spies, husband, and one of juice pupils. andrea fell in love with long, bored dancing. ever since she 1st saw a video of it online. oh man, it feels like flying. i love bombard, i think as a feels like flying a, it gave me a lot of confidence and, and i don't know it, it makes me enjoy myself. and the, i love myself more, you know, you is originally from ober housing in western germany. they are a long board dancing pro, but take their skill lightly. i'm trying to have communicated to other people and that they can also learn how to language dance or
