strikes on its energy grid authorities have set up so called invincibility centers where people can warm up and get hot drinks. ah, i'm pablo foliage. welcome to the program. the united nations is launching an investigation into iran's crackdown on anti government protests now in their 3rd month. there was applause at the human rights council. resolution passed with 25 votes in favor. 16 countries to abstained and 6, including china, voted against protesters are still turning out in iran despite security forces using dead and force. the unrest began after the death of a young woman arrested for allegedly not wearing her head scarf property. the council estimates iran has detained 14000 people so far

or germany's foreign minister and alina burbock was among those calling for an investigation. our political correspondent, tom tom, a sparrow told us it's a good result for her. it can indeed be seen as a win for her as a win for german foreign policy. and this is, by the way, how it's also being presented by german authorities in their 1st reactions. after the decision concerning this resolution, the fact that germany any particular mrs. bab oak had pushed for this resolution, had pushed for this discussion at the human rights council, which, by the way, it's the key inter governmental forum at the u. n. in the u. n. system dealing with human rights is certainly an important decision for german foreign policy. what's also particularly important is the fact that the resolution included this fact finding mission. it was not clear all along that this fact finding mission would actually be part of the resolution. in fact, china had presented
12:03 am
a last minute appeal so that that could be maybe scrapped from the resolution that did not pass. so the resolution in the end also includes this very important fact finding mission. so all in all german authorities are certainly very pleased with today's result in geneva. how could this fact finding mission actually work without physical access to the country? it is essentially seen as a step towards accountability as it is seen as a compliment to the word to the work that is already being done, for example, by the un special rapport term for human rights in iran. so it is seen as a step towards accountability but you point something in the right direction because this is certainly the biggest challenge. now, how to move forward from what was discussed in geneva from all these decisions from the resolution to actually action. especially if you consider that it's already being reported that the iranian government to read enough, or it isn't not particularly interested in having that fact finding mission in iran
12:04 am
. so there's certainly a lot of questions as to how this could be implemented. of no german perspective from the perspective of the country that took part in this resolution that voted in favor of it. it's a step towards more accountability in the situation in iraq. that was very clear. and that was our political correspondent, thomas barry. thank you so much. thomas, for speaking to my colleague nicole foolish, earlier, moving on ukrainian authorities are struggling to restore power and water supplies after russian missile strikes hammered key infrastructure. once again, people have headed to so called invincibility centers in search of power, warmth and other essentials, rushes laid. a strikes have killed 10 people unforced, all of ukraine's nuclear power plants offline. for the, for the 1st time in 40 years, the head of the nuclear energy company is warning that the attacks risk a radioactive catastrophe. while the domain name comley told us how

it might just be, it definitely is the last trophy missing and his prestigious trophy cabinet. among all the belong, the oars champions, leave titles and leave titles that he has claimed. but let's take a moment to appreciate the greatness that the statistic really is. 5 world cups that he's gordon, that means he's been world class for the past 20 years. a 37 years of age. and does so unfazed by the fact that he has just mutually come to the agreement to terminate his contract. manchester united just days before the world cup even started and talk about emotions, he had tears in his eyes, his lips were seen trembling while he was singing the national anthem, it would mean the absolute world to him if he were to win this world cup. well, also on the list of favorites going into this tournament, is that brazil and they faced serbia. so what do you make of that? their performance, little bit of a shaky start in the 1st half or brazil, there was seen a really not getting past the serbian defense. however, in the 2nd half they did break the deadlock thanks to rich hartley's on who's going to brace both goals for brazil. the 1st one was an easy tap in, but the 2nd goal was an absolute beauty. we see here 1st touch was great and he
