morality police have nothing to do with the judiciary will bring more on the story in the course of the day. but earlier i spoke with cameron machin, he is a senior lecture on international relations at the university of sussex, and i asked him what he made of the announcement. well, 1st of all, i would sure note of caution initially about the announcement because as the attorney general said, the morality so called morality police was not part of the judiciary system. it wasn't an organ that destry, it was actually part of the so called law enforcement forces or, you know, police force. so did they, did such an announcement should really be announced by that institution. and that hasn't happened yet. and secondly, since the protest began after the killing of fuzzy and i mean these, this morality police patrols have defacto seized because of the situation. so they

really haven't been in operation a lot to 3 months anyway. so i think until the government, you know, formally announces this, you have to treat this question, but what is clear is that the government is, pursues a to policy similar heinously. it seems that on the one hand, it has increased the crackdown issues like this instances against those they have arrested in the, in the, during the protests increasing military presence in certain areas such as cornerstone and baluchistan at the same time, they are like signaling certain messages about flexibility or adaptability of the let me go public towards certain policies including the so called, hey, job policies. so hoping this combination of the, to the stick and the carrot might bring the protest on. and so it's not quite perhaps a victory. is it likely to stop the protest? do you think though?
1:04 pm
well, the very fact that for the 1st time, really islamic republic announcing such approach, it is in itself quite a significant weakness because the origin is really not used to making concessions to protests. so in that sense, i think the protests have already actually achieved something quite significant. but i really, i'm not sure actually this will bring the protests to, to a halt. in fact, one reason such announcements might be made is that people, organizations of civil society protested have announced that they will have a 3 days of action on the 5th, 6th, and 7th of december and over the course of the coming week. and maybe the government is trying to somehow preamp this by announcing such decisions to kind of discourage people from coming to the street saying that what you want is already being discussed or is going to be implemented. but i think those 3 days are crucial in assessing whether the protest movement is going to have the momentum it has had thus far. ok, thank you so much for that insight. cameron martin from university of semi thank

you. thanks. covered 19 curves are being relaxed in china following some of the biggest displays of public anger in decades. residence in beijing and beyond are welcoming the gradual return to normalcy. after years of tough restrictions, chinese authorities say however, they're not abandoning the countries at 0 coven policy, yet just implementing it more flexibly. in the south west, in mega city of john ching life is beginning to return to normal. shops are open and residents are back on the streets. just last month, many of its $32000000.00 inhabitants were under locked down. but now authorities are relaxing cobit rules across china, even as infections remain near record highs. in several major cities, testing requirements for buses and other public transport are being dropped in

beijing authorities have been closing test sites leading to long queues that those that remain open as tests are still required to access many public spaces. despite the frustration of a long wait, many, beijing as are enthusiastic about the loosening of restrictions. and i don't think rosanna can yet. oh, i feel that the controls are loser down before i thought. i thought you are though you and everyone is eager to go outside. at granularity, every one feels more relaxed. and though cadillac miss and then a figurative or don't for the now, with rules and without gradual being, is there those of us working with her the had her have a sense of hope. you've already got a phone on them go through to her despite the rule changes, beijing says it's still following it's 0 cove. it policy just with a more flexible targeted approach. but with vaccination rates,

not openly communist, communicated yet. so i mean, i think you have to this really ambivalent see of, you know, you're feeling free, but also feeling very uncertain. and face of what the 0 coven policy was supposed to be. really an exceptional policy, if you look at policies around the world, what was it a uniform nationwide set of rules? how does it work? yes. so the idea behind, as you recovered policy, as it was implemented in china, was basically to eliminate the virus. and that means that, you know, every single infection was met with resolute measures. for example, the whole building was shut down. several hundreds of people were sent to current 100 facilities, et cetera. every 3 days he and beijing and many other cities, you needed to go to a p c r testing station to be able to participate in public life. and some of the routes that have changed, for example, and paging. are now that, yeah, i could confirm that if you are in fact that he and beijing at least many of the

residential compounds now would allow you to isolate at home. you can q out your sickness at home. that might not sound super significant. maybe for outside us, but he in beijing, this is a huge relief because every day you basically were well going to sleep, waking up, not knowing if our building would be sealed off or whether there would be help workers knocking on our door and taking us to a current facility, so there is this change happening and it is not implemented in the whole nation. i know in some cities, as you recall, it is still very strictly implemented. he and beijing, as in other cities, there's definitely a small step, a small steps of easing up. ok, journalist, a fabulous crutch. more reporting force from bay. jang, thank you so much. let's take a look now as some of the other stories making news around the world. russian defense minister survey showing who traveled to bill a ruse to discuss the ongoing war and ukraine. he met with beller as his leader, alexander lucas, and go and his defense minister to assign an amended security deal. afterwards.

since david met goliath, australia's artisans versus the artistry of leonor messy. and the sa caruso soon saw his genius on 35 minutes when messy post to leave australia keeper, matt ryan helpless. but ryan was the architect of his own. don't fall when argentina made it to just before the hour. leon alvarez was onto pure touching the flesh and he made it to nil. ryan needed his teammates to dig him out of a hole. they got a lucky break when craig goodwin's wild effort afflicted anne of hens. fernandez, came on and the aussies nearly scored a shock equalizer. but emily martinez blocked brilliantly from garron cool in the 7th minute of injury time. messy led to celebrations in front of argentina's rock as crowed, whose expectations will be even higher their site in the last 8. in the early match,

the netherlands became the 1st team to make it to the quarter finals. they are playing against the united states and dutchman scored twice in the 1st half and basically never looked back. memphis de pi struck 1st, orange army was in full force as the game finished, 3 goals, $21.00, and a lima attack. he is here with me in the studio, she's from t w. sports of course. welcome a lima. so tell me about argentina and met message message to the rescue basically . yes, messy doing what he is best stead. and that is setting the tone in mid field with his dribbling magic with his amazing maisie runs into the final fur connecting this team. and he, you know, and it paid off for him at the end because he did score his 1st ever worked kept knockout goal. it took quite a long time, but he finally did it. and that goal also helped argentina now to advance for the

quarter finals where they will be up against the netherlands. but this is also a very personal work cut for messy because it probably is his last shot. it worked card there after all, he is 35 years old next. so now he doesn't have much time left. okay. well, tell me about the other round of 16 marriage. that was a big one yesterday, usa versus the netherlands. how did the americans that the americans have been a joy to watch because it's a very young team. they're the 2nd youngest in the turn, a man. and whenever you, they are in action, they play with so much spirit, so much hung are so much hide. but i think up against the netherlands, i think the kind of met they match. i think just the gap in quality was way too huge. and although the americans did have possessions, they couldn't really make much use of it. and the netherlands, of course, they're comfortable without the ball and they're like, look, you guys can have the ball and they were ruthless when it comes to the counter attacks. yeah. put in the ball and that this and tell me about today. some football power. yeah. so we have to the to favorite inaction. today we have france of course,
1:14 pm
taking on poland and france. i think you know, our aiming for consecutive world cups. that is something that hasn't been done in a very long time make the last team to do so. was brazil, and that was back in 1958, 1962. we also have in the later game, england in action against synagogue, england, of course, have been getting closer and closer. and they were semi finalists in russia 4 years ago. they were run a stop at the euro's, and i think i want to take it a step further and end 56 years of hurt. that's how long the men's team has not won a major trophy in football. but if you look at the way this entire world cup has been playing out, i would say do not rule out the outsiders, the underdogs because they have been so many upsets that we saw in the group stages . and i think parlance it synagogue. i say don't rule them out just yet. ok, i just, i know you don't like this kind of question, but here goes anyway, who's gonna, who's gonna win to and says power house matches the left. also based on paper,
