around strict female dress code. the rounds attorney general told a major state news agency that quote, morality police have nothing to do with the judiciary. earlier i talked to cameron matina, he's a senior lecture on international relations at the university of sussex. i asked him what he made of this announcement. well, 1st of all, i would sure note of caution initially about the announcement because the attorney general said the morality so called morality police was not part of the judiciary system. it wasn't an organ of the judiciary. it was actually part of the so called low enforcement forces or, you know, police force. so did they, did such an announcement should really be announced by that institution. and that hasn't happened yet. and secondly, since the protest began after the killing of fuzzy and i mean these,
3:03 pm
this morality police patrols have de facto seized because of the situation. so they really haven't been in operation allowed 2 or 3 months anyways. so i think until the government formerly announces this, you have to treat this question, but what is clear is that the government is, pursues a to policy. similar heinously seems that on the one hand, it has increased the crackdown issuing like the sentences against those arrested. and this in the, during the protests, increasing military presence in certain areas such as cornerstone and baluchistan at the same time, they are like signaling certain messages about flexibility or adaptability of these, let me go public towards sets and policies, including the so called, hey, job policies, so hoping this combination of the, to the stick and the carrot might bring the protest on ends. so it's not quite perhaps a victory. is it likely to stop the protest? do you think though?
3:04 pm
well, the very fact that for the 1st time, really islamic republic announcing such approach, it is in itself quite a significant weakness because the origin is really not used to making concessions to protests. so in that sense, i think the protests have already actually achieved something quite significant. but i really, i'm not sure actually this will bring the protest to, to a halt. in fact, one reason such announcements might be made is that people, organizations of civil society protested have and they will have a 3 days of action on the 5th, 6th, and 7th of december and over the course of the coming week. and maybe the government is trying to somehow preamp this by announcing such decisions to kind of discourage people from coming to the street saying that what you want is already being discussed or is going to be implemented. but i think those 3 days are crucial in assessing whether the protest movement is going to have the momentum it has had

march on saturday, the netherlands booked their place in the quarter finals playing the united states . the dutch men scored twice in the 1st half and never looked back. memphis de pike struck 1st. the orange army of dutch fans was in full force as the game finished. 3 goals to one and a lima attack he is here with me in the studio. she's from d. w. sports of oars are welcome a lima. so tell me about argentina and met messy message to the rescue. basically. yes, massey doing what is best that and that is. and setting the tone in midfield. wet his dribbling magic with his amazing maisie runs into the final thread, connecting this team. and he, you know, and he paid, i'm at the end because he did score his 1st ever worked kept knockout goal. it took quite a long time, but he finally did it. and that goal also helped argentina now to advance for the quarter finals where they will be up against the netherlands. but this is also

a very personal world cup for mercy because it probably is his last shot at a world card there. after all, he is 35 years old nick. so now he doesn't have much time let. okay, i'll tell you about the other round of 16 march. that was a big one yesterday, usa versus the netherlands. how did the americans that the americans have been a joy to watch because it's a very young team there. the 2nd youngest in the turn, a man, and whenever you, they are in action, they play with so much spirit, so much hung are so much hide. but i think up against the netherlands, i think the kind of met they match. i think just the gap in quality was way too huge. and although the americans did have possessions, they couldn't really make much use of it. and the netherlands, of course, they're comfortable without the ball and they're like, look, you guys can have the ball and they were ruthless when it comes to the counter attacks. yeah. put in the ball and that this and tell me about today. some football power. yeah. so we have to the 2 favorites in action today. we have france,
3:14 pm
of course, taking on poland and france. i think you know, our aiming for consecutive world cups. that is something that hasn't been done in a very long time make the last team to do so. was brazil, and that was back in 19581962. we also have in the later game, england in action against synagogue. england, of course, have been getting closer and closer. and they were semi finalists in russia 4 years ago. they were run us up at the euro's, and i think they want to take it a step further and end 56 years of hurt. that's how long the men's team has not won a major trophy in football. but if you look at the way this entire world cup hausman playing out, i would say do not rule out the outsiders, the underdogs cause they have been so many upsets that we saw in the group stages. i pollen sit senegal, i say, don't rule them out. just yet, okay. i just, yeah. i know you don't like this kind of question, but here question, who's gonna, who's going to win to dad? says power house matches the left also based on paper, i'm going to say france and england based on the odd. okay. as playing it safe,
