lecturer on international relations at the university of sas x. and i asked him what he makes of this announcement. while i think we have to treat this announcement with utmost caution for a number of reasons. the 1st one is that these so called morality police, which people actually in iran use it more commonly under the name of the job police, which enforces islamic. his job is not kind of a branch of judiciary, but of no inforcement forces, which hasn't made any announcement. secondly, these, the oppression of this particular branch of the police has effectively thief in the south of the protest. largely because the police forces have been deployed to crack down on the protesters and they just don't have enough troops to kind of continue this operation. but most importantly, the enforcement of the job in iran, or the so called islamic dressing code is enshrined the law. it's part of the limit criminal law which goes back to the $8983.00 and that's part of the law remains

intact and can only be repealed by the legislation in the parliament, which has not happened at this point. and even the government hasn't announced is so i think this is more of probably the tactic by the government to dissuade people from going to the streets or you know, doing strike action on, on these, those 3 days. which a position as called for in the, in this coming week. but again, protesters are now stepping up the pressure and calling for a 3 day economic strike. surely it's a sign, at least they believe that their movement is winning. absolutely. i mean, in the sense i was talking mostly and in kind of legal social sense of, of the, of this particular announcement. in the end. yes. in the, in the sense that the government or a high official indian state comes and makes this announcement in a press conference in itself is unprecedented because there's like a public up. iran is not used to making concessions to protest is one down on the

streets that has never happened in the past 40 to 3 years. so this is a find that they are on the back foot. they're trying to kind of maneuver around these in the, you know, the, the new way will protest which are coming. and of course, people are also re mobilizing and trying to re launched a protest in a, in an innovative way, true stock actions and so on. and so for so overall, i think, you know, even if symbolic, this is an important victory, but in the sense that it remains the law still, this particular law enforcement of a job. i think we are not there yet in the half minute or so that we have left is it likely will now see an escalation of the protest movement? i believe. so we have to remember that even though this protest movement began because of the keeling of massaging, i mean in the, under the custody of this, her job or morality police, the demands of the protest, those actually go far beyond the simply removing income poster. he job,

it's all about, you know, people shouting, we don't want to like republic, just a dictator. this to their supreme lead. the women lie freedom. so if we look at the slogans, what they want actually is that from the mental change in the uranium political system rather than one particular kind of practice or law to be removed so, so long as we see movement in that direction. i'm not sure that the, the protest as would be satisfied with what the government has announced thus far, and we'll have to end it there again many thanks to cameron martin. thank you very much. a look now at some of the other stories making news around the world. volcanic eruption on indonesia as main island of java has forced nearly 2000 people in nearby villages to evacuate. people have been warned not to travel within 8 kilometers of the crater of mount some error. the volcano has erupted a year ago, killing more than 50 people. authorities in northeast in sicily have declared

people can allow themselves to forget about the uncertain future. at the world, cup and cat are france at the later side to make quarter finals, they brush aside poland. in their last 16 match with striker olivia ju, becoming his countries all time top score in the process, killing him up, i was considered the danger man in this contest which for the 1st half hour resulted in nothing more than some bumps and bruises. veteran po robert, live in dusky fight, avoiding short, just wide of the french go. but it took until a minute before half time for olivia's room, the oldest men on the pitch to show how it's done. 36 year old, sliding of the celebration of a new france record of $52.00 national team goes surpassing another former arsenal man. teary on re one mill at half time. the pulse gave killing him by the spice to land, the killer blows in the 2nd half. the 23 year old put himself on top of the tournament, scoring chuck the 1st time he beat boycheck chesney. then extended his late and
