. yeah. a new venue in your accepted name. that's gone, and off she goes on to the ice. in the 1st scene, she and her true portray character is living in another world. with holiday on i says putting on their show a new day, 180 times at 22 venues in germany alone. marianna torres, annie appears in 8 different scenes away from the limelight. the cast members rehearse every day. i am diana, that is annie and we're here in the night. i'm so blessed to be here. it's like a big getting that came to marianna torres on the was 5 when she discovered figure skating in 2013. she was a national champion and took part in the european championships, and she's been in many international competitions. but a show like this is different. the big difference for sure is that i'm not
1:05 am
individual anymore. like we are all together. even like before, i was competing against each other and now we have to work together to we have to collaborate to create a unless or vis. jose it and that's just what makes the show so challenging. everyone has to perform live and with perfect accuracy, while making sure not to get in each other's way. the cast is made up of 40 figure skaters from across the globe. they put on up to 3 shows a day during their 6 month to her, and it really pushes the group to their limits. ah, besides ice skating, marianna torres on. he also keeps in shape lifting weights and doing yoga. a lot of practice goes into the challenging jumps. this time she doesn't manage the double axle. they're most difficult part of this does jump is the takeoff. if

you goes wrong, you can control it e f to wait, but it is not to much. is really add debbie kate part the 1st holiday on ice show was held in 1943 in the united states in 79 years. the troop has taken their act to over 80 countries and featured more than 6500 figure skaters including norwegian figure skating legend, sonya hen, you 2 time olympic champion, cutting of it from former east germany. and this year the current olympic figure skating champions french, do o gabriela, pepper dockets. and do you see the home? what sets holiday on ice apart or it's elaborate costumes for a new day over 300 different ones were created. marianna torn his auntie. where is one of the most extravagant ones? a 2 meter long peacock costume. the only thing i can do is really moving my arms,
1:07 am
my upper body and then be really careful to done it anywhere with my tails in my that's it. but yes, it's really the meant like manage how to move it and the and be pre to it in the middle of the show. the 23 year old performer takes center stage and her peacock outfit. ah, in the finale, marianna torres, auntie is one of beautiful fantasy creatures. a new day runs for 2 hours and is a real hurt with the audience. it was exciting. it was really a put a lot of energy than what you saw me and giving energy to the ideas. i hope they
1:08 am
like it. and we had some problem with the rivers and ideas. but i think we, we have it are you have you know? yes. tyra have really, really happy with her. i don't know about you, but for me, christmas isn't complete without attempting. and often failing to bells, one of bees a house made entirely of gingerbread. but for once we dish artist gingerbread creations are far from festive. caroline ericsson uses the pastry as modeling clay to create erie creepy sculptures. there are a far cry from the classic hansel and gretel house covered in sweets. and it's a lot more complicated than anything i could attempt to create. monsters from horror, films and science fiction series fill up the living room of artist caroline erickson. but don't worry, they're only made of gingerbread for the thing i'm most concerned about. is this
1:09 am
the structure being able to hold the weights of the gingerbread? and if it doesn't, it's gonna break and fall to the floor. and all of my work is going to be lost. so i really hope that doesn't happen. for over 2 weeks, the oslo based swedish artist has been working on demo gorgon, the monster from the american supernatural series stranger things. the gingerbread figure is one me to 20 tall and weighs about 15 kilos. darth vader from star wars is in a more from alien root from guardians of the galaxy and venom from spider man. our other gingerbread creations. i'm a big movie nerd and the sci fi fan and everything that's got to do with pop culture. so i think that this why shoes to do these kind of characters. and there's also something special about making something scary and mysterious. now
1:10 am
i really like them. each project begins with a sketch. i have learned and what i should always pay attention to in the beginning of the process. and because if you, if you do something and if you do mistakes in the beginning and something is always going to go wrong later on. and so i always try to to imagine what problems i'm gonna run into and tried to solve them before they happened to stabilize the figures and she builds a skeleton out of wire and wraps it in aluminum foil hawk who the dragon in the japanese enemy films. spirited away is one of her current projects to seek his exterior is always made of pure gingerbread dough. is this art or no leopard cookie that has sir, never really occurred to me to, to eat these sculptures and since san, i'm creating them f,

my arts and not cookies. now i think it would, the kind of hurts me actually to, to eat this sculptures. she started off building gingerbread houses, which then gave her the idea to make creatures using the same material. don't. this is san ordinary gingerbread, their recipe, and i may kick myself from from scratch. so it sounds it's edible. it's actually a really, really good caroline. erickson's latest method is a finding like ginger breakdown, mixed with water, which gives it a clay like consistency, easy to mould. she gradually glued the gingerbread dough on to the framework and lips dry multiple times, the construction homes. finally, she applies edible paint to make the figure even more vivid. but it's not permanent art. these figures of course and doesn't last forever. they are gonna break down at,
1:12 am
at some point points because it's so it's food. and so i guess it would last for a couple of months or so before it starts breaking down than the of course is that's gonna feel really sad. but sir, there's also a certain charm to art that doesn't last and basically because i think you appreciate it more scary on the outside and suite on the inside. and that the reason why caroline erickson's works of art fascinate from surreal sculpture is to a more classical kind. but our next piece doubts into the lives of 2 exceptionally gifted brother is to play the piano and the violin, giving classical concerts around the world. but the most impressive part is that they're only 7 and 9 years old, we took a look at what life is like for these child prodigies and what their talent means
1:13 am
for the german families everyday life. ah, 9 year old maddox mar, solich is considered a child prodigy with ease. he plays pieces like these variations on a theme by violin virtuoso paganini. the works are not normally interpreted by children. his age ah, is treated kathy playing the pianist and so 3 and a half years old. but i never feel that i'm perfect enough in his perfect. oh, what does it mean to be a prodigy? lou maddox is at home and take his hug in near berlin, where he practices 3 to 4 hours daily. oh, he discovered his passion for the piano at the age of 3. his skills developed rapidly. already at the age of 4, he gave his 1st concerts. o, at the age of 7, maddox played at the mozart t. m in salzburg, austria

1:15 am
a very tight schedule to me. helena, do you have any time for yourself? no. oh, maddox and miles is lives are filled with their music and their performances. they've been on countless concert and competition tours, whether in israel or at a competition at london's royal albert hall. but in spring of 2021, they suffered a family tragedy. their father died unexpectedly since her husband's death z, mona marsala has been a single parent. in addition, she home schools, the children, maddox and miles, are exempt from school due to their giftedness. vocational of maddox grasps things faster. he does need to spend 6 hours at school when he can learn everything and one or 2 hours with that. and then with that he said he and that's why we decided that instead of going to school, he could learn it in its own,
1:16 am
passes in his free time. and it saves high to him of giving him enough time to prepare for concepts into competition. i am feeling a site oh, fun petri dish would have more as he mona's daily life is dictated by her children's schedules. today, they're going to berlin for piano lessons. the running costs for the lessons and the travels of both children are in the $4.00 digit range every month. maddox is godfather, pays part of it. the mother of 2 can no longer work full time. and she has to put up with a lot of prejudice. motherhood, you're criticized as being a stage mom and keeping the poor children away from life. forced to practice piano and violin. i've also read comments on facebook saying things like, yeah, the best way to make money is with little kids. as nobody realizes that it costs money, time and nerves that people will think what they want was again,
1:17 am
had. maddox has weekly ear and voice training and composition lessons plus piano lessons 3 times a week. 5 0 no, ah, concert pianist, elysa better lumina, has been teaching maddox for about 4 years. she's rehearsing with both children for an upcoming concert. oh god. oh, i often advise children who are not so fond of music to choose another profession, and keep it as a hobby. then but when music is everything for them, like in this case, then i have to give medics for example, the best foundation that i can. so he can decide later to i want this letter in the toilet or maybe not after all, hadn't deleted them. delete hospital, collect nifty and miles and maddox. want to go on stage. today they're playing a concert in our glance back a town east of berlin. such performances are just the start of their big dream. that after that will play a big concert stage is being clump like,
