a familiar face. but now he's heading up the most far right coalition, in israel's history. can you tell us more about what we can expect from this new government? that's right, clary. certainly no stranger to his railing politics, but as you rightly point out, he's now going to be searing the most far right government. the countries ever seen . these coalition partners that he's from government, they bring with them some pretty heavy demands. as you heard in that report, they want to make changes to the supreme court. that would make it possible for the government to override supreme court decisions that comes in the country with no constitution and no 2nd chamber of the parliament. so many people here saying this is going to really a road democracy in the country and other similar, similar proposals that have already been etched out in these coalition agreements. what we can really expect to see from netanyahu this time round is a balancing of those demands from his right wing pon is along with the opposing voices, both within the country and around with the palestinian authority. and as you had

brought with that from the opposition some, some pretty start criticism you heard there from hamas. and of course of the palestinian authority palestinians themselves. very worried about this. but also inside israel, people are very worried about how this is going to affect the relationship. let's not forget, this is coming at a very tense time. you know, we've seen mo, violence this year than we have in decades. you also had that in the report since 2005, this year alone would say more than $150.00 palestinians killed 30 israelis too. so people here very worried about watts settlement expansion might do for that relationship. thank you so much for bringing us up to speed. that is rebecca readers for us and we can get a round up now of some other world news had minds. the vatican says the former pope benedict remains gravely ill, but a stable and lucid. hope francis has called for prayers for the 95 year olds, which the former pontiff is receiving around the clock care as concerns grow over

gold, a military defense journalist based here in berlin. i'd like to start by taking a look at the bigger picture. here we are. russia has been intensively targeting power and water supplies in ukraine since october. but what effect is this having in the war? well, actually we are seeing 2 wars we see in a ground war in ukraine, in the east of the cells. and we're seeing this war against civilian infrastructure, which is mostly the energy grid transformation stations, water equipment, all this stuff. so this is what happened today. again, a massive wave against the civilian infrastructure. let's talk about that other war than in the east and the south. we know russian missile attacks has been coming quite far from the front lines. do you expect that russia is going to step up it's ground offensive as well?
6:11 pm
no, i don't think so. the point is it seems not really synchronized. we've seen these error text was cruise missiles was listed, missiles was grown since october, and this is completely out of sync with what is going on on the ground. the offensive, their counter offenses are following a completely different schedule. and so what should we be watching there specifically? we shall watch out. i don't think for much happening on the ground in the next weeks, but we should keep an eye on the civilian infrastructure on the energy grid, which is getting really, really a problem for cuba, warranties for the government of ukraine. because when you look at ukraine today, you craig claimed of 16 missiles, which a tech 16 were hot down, which is a pretty good tally. but if you look at other areas, other regions,
6:12 pm
it's not quite as good. and every missile, which gets through mean some new damage to the grid. and looking ahead, what do you think the prospects are for negotiations? the kremlin has rejected a plan of from a present lensky this week. instead, demanding the key of except a russian annexation of 4 regions. well, the problem is, if you look at what russia called cindy, go, she ation for offer. for, for negotiation, it's actually not negotiation. it's a call for surrender. and i think as long as this call of surrender persists, ukraine is not in a position to agree on anything. all right, thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us on d w. that's thomas v called freelance military defense journalist from well, he is still a teenager by vincent climber firmly establishing himself at the top of competitive
