2:02 am
shooting occurred in a district of the city called ulster dwarf. please say the shooter may be among the debt. when a spokesman for hamburg, police force described the scene as officers arrived at the sight of the shooting. depos godaddy dot rang the officers entered and found people he who had been injured have i some fatally, by gun shot at it from title. totally. so let's wardens and the officers and also heard a shot from the upper part of the building. it is in the home and found a person there uh before. yeah, i mean we have no evidence of an assailant at large and the evidence points to the assailant being in the building and possibly among the dead. or i will for more in the story or reporter stacy beavens is here in studio with me and has been following this story very closely tonight, stacy, so we just heard there from the police spokesperson from hamburg. what sir, what more details can you tell us? pablo the image is coming out of hamburg are shocking,
2:03 am
and they are heartbreaking seeing what the victims went through and what the police saw when they arrived is something that the city has never experienced. and like you can see in the video here, police are carrying a crying and injured person, up the block to an ambulance, other people who were injured but were able to walk or escorted away from the scene . this is what we know so far. so after about 9 o'clock in the evening, local time, police were called to that jehovah, witness kingdom hall. there was an event going on there. and once police got there, you can see there was the full on police presence. they called it a large police operation. and at that time, they thought the gunman was still on the loose, that they were warning people, fi, emergency apps to stay home, not to come outside. that there was probably a shooter on the run. but now, as we heard from the police spokesman, we know they believe that the gunman was among one of the 6,
2:04 am
a 7 people that were killed inside the hall. now police say that when they arrive, they heard a shot in the upper part of the building. so we saw video of them with their long guns going towards that, that direction a carefully. and they found one body. so they think that this incident has been contained that they have the gunmen, but what they don't have yet is a motive. and we don't know who this person is so far. right. well, those images that we're seeing are very shocking indeed. and stacy shootings are not very common in germany. they buy occur. so this is clearly a huge shock. yes. especially for place like homburg, homburg is a beautiful cultural city. it's a port city. the people are friendly. there is a lot of things to do. you don't see events like this happening and in germany
2:05 am
overall, there are a tough rules when it comes to citizens having guns and tough rules about police officers carrying guns. not all police officers do so how this person attained a weapon. we don't know yet, and i'm sure that that's one of the things that police are, are looking at. germany has had a little bit of an uptake of white supreme white supremacy violence, neo nazi violence. we don't know if that's the cause of this. this is still early on, the pieces are still coming together, but again, this is something that you don't see typically in germany too often and not in a city like the. yeah, we're overseer. the of the moment we're, we're, we don't have a huge number of details. just reminder, sir. once again at the main details of what's happened dead soon, right? so at least 7 people are dead and they believed that the shooter is among the dead
2:06 am
. this happened in downtown homburg, or just north of downtown homburg, at the jehovah, witness kingdom hall. there wasn't a religious religious events going on at the time. and then shortly after 9 o'clock, police got a call about shots being fired. there was a witnesses that they, they heard 12 shots and, and so then the police went in and carried victims out of the building up the block to where the ambulances were standing by. they walk some of the people who were injured or shocked, who but who could walk up to to get medical care as well. but so far we don't know who the shooter is. we don't know what his motives were and we don't. yeah. so we don't know who this person is, it's just something that's just really hard to take. i'm just looking at the pictures now and i'm just shocked. this is not something that you see in hamburg.
2:07 am
