and political kind, awe in our series, guardians of truth and watch. now on youtube dw documentary, ah ah ah, this is the w slide from berlin. the world's biggest space, rocket explosives, the and crude space x star ship lifts off from texas, but fails minutes later. the craft is designed to take humans back to the moon and one day on tomorrow. also coming out, thousands are dead in
5:01 pm
a crash and the m and the victims were trying to get into school in san our to collect charity handouts for ramadan. and nato chief against oldenburg makes his 1st visit to ukraine. since the russian invasion, he says it should become part of the a lot. ah, i'm good. how those as well come to the program and we start the show in the united states where the largest rocket ever to lift off the earth has exploded just minutes after take off the giant on crude rocket from space egg successfully lifted off from the launch pad in brownsville, texas for 3 minutes into the flight, the starship caps will fail to separate from the booster result was an explosive, n y for the rockets 1st test flight. so take our bonnie
5:02 pm
from the w signs, watched the webcast of the rockets take golf fund explosion and i asked him if he thought this was a success or a failure. and it's a bit of both really, it's a success because they got off the ground. i mean the couple of days ago they didn't even do that. so they have quite a fleet. if you recall at the start of this week couple of days ago and i'm mosque said look, if we just, i'll be happy if i manage to you or we managed to not to blow up the launch site. so they did that. but yeah, this is the crucial thing, went wrong, be the actual space, cra, star ship carrier, up to $100.00 people with congo and whatever else failed to separate. that's what we're hearing here. all in the was who of is writing this place? it twitter feed or just experienced a rapid unscheduled business. this is
5:03 pm
a way to put it in a mask. it himself the c o l space access. but the chances of success at $5050.00. why it's over guys. it's so difficult to bring this big rocket into space. well, the 1st reason is it's, it's the 1st of its kind metty to this. absolutely. she age. this thing is a 120 meters. whole together the rock here plus the spacecraft, 120 meters tall. i'm 50 meters is just the actual space craft, the bit for people, et cetera. 70 me to simply 69 to 70 meters for the rocket. 9 meters in diameter. i mean, think about trying to work out that pace around the room. you're in right now and, and try to work at how big that is or how long it would take you to run a 100 meters dash. it's a huge thing, but it's also really difficult because what they're testing here are reusable bits
5:04 pm
. so moving away from space x is falcon 9, which is partially reusable, to a fully reusable launched vehicle that get people into space. and then back again. i mean, this is when, if this works out, you know, this thing will be, out of all bits of the moon will be able to re few in orbit um will be able to, in fact, what they're saying may point to point trips on earth. so you can go anywhere on the planet with them. and i mean, that is just phenomenal. you think about it, but the technology that to go into that, the engineering that has to go into that and all the risks. and just bearing in mind, you know, getting stuff off the ground on any normal day, it's difficult. $5050.00, the pretty young, generous, i would say sort of a proposition. well, sounds very, very ambitious. what you just described there. but nasa and space act. so their long term goal is to send humans to mars. what's the timeline for that?
5:05 pm
well, let's roll it back a little bit to the boat house in a sense. the 1st object is the moon and they're trying for what me, you know, nasa has its own space launch system rock. it is smaller than this one and starship and they want to send a crude mission to the moon by 2025. so in a couple of years time, you know, if you think about other things that european space agency, it's heaviest, largest rock area and 6 being delayed, once again, getting to the moon. crikey, i wouldn't want to put a number on that at all. if you know, and i'll mask, you might have some desires to say, i don't know by the end of this decade, that'd be sort of the way, you know, we worked in the apollo era in the sixty's. we want to do it within the decade. that's sort of foreseeable, but you know, hey, we've been trying this so long and there been so many gaps along the way. so many upheavals, don't forget the world is an economic crisis. you're really having to weigh are
5:06 pm
what are the priorities here? so i would want to put a date on that sometime at some point people would try to get that. yeah. but probably not in my lifetime. so oh, even if i hadn't in my life time get, i wouldn't care. i mean, i don't want to go to the house, it's cold out there. yeah, i me, i again, i want to put in a number and i think the 1st, the 1st the most difficult thing is that she just getting an, an cruet craft to mars. and bringing it back, that is really that difficult enough and there are missions on the way to do that. just to bring bits of rock bits of dust back from mars. that's tough enough. so people, that's just a, that's a really tall order. and what we see those being pre, actually quite fantastic, different base of got on now from an hour ago. but it's been pretty phenomenal
5:07 pm
actually, you know, can't help the feel a bit excited. so the tougher face on the show. thank you very much. so to cover honey that it would be w, thank you. let's have a look now at some of the other stories. i'm making headlines around the world. the military and sudan has ruled out negotiations with the power military rapid support force. the army says it will only accept the groups surrender. at least 270 people have now been killed in the fighting between the 2 sides of the capital and other areas. in paris, hundreds of protesters half stormed the offices of stock market operate the euro. next, they want big companies to help finance pension. francis been rocked by violent protests against plans to raise the retirement age. from 62 to 64, cubis parliament has re elected president miguel diaz canal for a 2nd fund year term, the communist party leader. while nearly every vote in the national assembly
5:08 pm
promised to tackle inefficiencies. she was place by placing and shortages of food and medicine. the son of cambodian leda hunt sen has been promoted to the rank of forestall. general prime minister has public backed his son to lead the kingdom in the future. at least 78 people have been killed and hundreds more injured in a crash and yemen. tragedy unfolded as a crowd gathered in the capital santa to collect financial aid during the muslim holy month of ramadan. this report contains images that some of you may find distressing. awe desperately trying to free themselves as security guards shouted at the crowd to turn back. others attempted to pull people from the mass of bodies
5:09 pm
but for many who had come in the hopes of receiving 5000 yamini rails or about h u. s. dollars. it was already too late. dozens of injured people were taken to local hospitals. as were the bodies of the dead ah, a one a little jimmy, a la betty, him in total. there were 78 people that were killed yellow and my salad to had at that the hospital has brought and 73 injured lemon. some seriously injured. and so my less critical condition all to be melted. bowden, what athene, what associate? there are 2 patients in intensive care study and 13 others are in need of surgery with a thought yet should i was of the sol almost cantavon officials from the hootie rebel group which controls santa were quick to visit the injured the hannah issue. mazda, we are experiencing a great tragedy of
5:10 pm
a large number of our people have died during this time. peter had the layla. nathaniel had the officials also visited the scene of the stampede. where investigate is already looking into the causes of the tragedy. some eye witness reports indicate that the crowd may have panicked due to gunfire. it's yet another bitter blow for yemenis, already suffering from more than 8 years of war and a devastating humanitarian crisis. journalists now say shaka and santa says gunfire may indeed have caused to panic. of course, this is one of their you or k that according to a bill, i was mrs. they said the gun via came after the crowd and the security of rush this year. i try to describe the people because i see over the city diction that the booth where i mean the entrance to the school where people were gathering
5:11 pm
is a minor is through the main street. ok. so hundreds of people were in. this is 3 and the main gate of the school is a stair ok to walk for 2 or one minute. i'm ha. so the people in the video, you can see people in the door. the were saying it will take some steps so that we can open the main gate. so when the people opened the main gate and people much worse, and this is what comes the all the time, the your washington d. w still to come. ah, we meet the kenny m kids whose become an internet sensation by recreating celebrity video. but 1st nato secretary general. yes. stoke burke has made his 1st visit to ukraine since the russian invasion,
5:12 pm
stalked back says ukraine should be part of nato. he also discussed bring ukraine's military into line with natal standards with president flor them is lensky still back also paid his respects to ukrainian soldiers killed in the 14 months i asked d. w 's him on oil shows in cuba, where this visit is more than just symbolic. oh yes, it is more than symbolic and it was much anticipated if anatomy zalinski had invited again. stilton barber at nato is a general secretary here in here for over a year. now, and a fact that stoughton bag was here this morning. the fact that he paid his respect to a full and sold is the fact that he spends a some time to talk to as the lensky about ukraine's or candidacy to nato. this is heidi significant here in ukraine, you know,
5:13 pm
especially given the fact that ukraine a possibly joining nato was one of the arguments used by letting me put in to launch sheets, a full scale invasion against ukraine and perhaps more significant. the even ease was children, beg, said, or to day when he said that ukraine's rightful place, e's in the euro, atlantic family, ukraine's right rightful place is in nato. and other positions of nato remain unchanged when it comes to her to the support. and he reiterated that from his point of view, where to ukraine will become a member of the alliance. he said that the support was a firm and doubt. this would be a support from natal towards you credit for as long as it's needed, as long as it takes for ukraine or to a wind is war. now, other than that, or did we hear any concrete pledges off of support from salt burger?
5:14 pm
well, ernest, or to bag a 3rd dad, he was expecting you announcements being made especially tomorrow during the hammerstein at a meeting in terms of pledges for more military support from ukraine's allies here . so it reminded her how much nato already provided when it comes to training ukrainian soldiers. for example, tens of thousands of ukrainian soldiers have been trained at e, nato, or facilities by an nato. are also a allies or of nato and member stay and nato member state are providing tanks. they're providing heavy weapon. we armored vehicles are all dart. and since the beginning of the full scale invasion, we're talking about equipment. data amounts to over $70000000000.00 plus a d, a. d, a weapons that might be pledge to more or in the ramstein a format. so there's doubt and of course are short on beggars. so, reiterated or his invitation or to the nato summit in vilnius dis,
5:15 pm
or july to president vladimir lensky. it's the last key who thank for this invitation, but he's, he's also as standing firm in that he wants to see ukraine invited into nato and not just good intentions, and not just their invitations being forwarded to them on all shows their reporting from keith. thank you. very much my nato members and partners are testing cyber defense system in a 4 day exercise. in estonia, teams from 38 nations will try to protect computers from attack and simulate decision making and critical situations. later says cyber defense has become more important since the invasion of ukraine. speed, strategy, and skill. that's what matters in war games. whether they take place on the ground in real life forests, on line as they do in lot shields. the international cyber war exercise. some
5:16 pm
3000 people from 38 countries are taking part, and most of them are online. the goal will bring the at different nations like minded nations to cover do the final capabilities and also to develop knowledge about each each other and trust or to watch each other. the participants here in blue are the victims of several large scale cyber attacks. those in green of the attacking team, the blues must defend their infrastructure, energy supply, financial industry, and national borders. the stability of an entire nation all be at a fictional one for the purposes of this exercise is at stake. the scenario includes proper gander attacks to it's what's called hybrid warfare, where both the attackers, andy attack, constantly look for new ways to attack or defend themselves. it's just like what's going on right now in russia's war against ukraine. traditionally
5:17 pm
military's focus only their own systems. they need to be available to direct the warfare effort, et cetera, et cetera. on our same time, we see her with a war in ukraine. ah, the adversary's trying to destroy their electricity, seville, an infrastructure on. so actually, what is under a ever seen? and that includes the media in a huge propaganda wool. right? from the start, it was clear that the war in ukraine was also being waged in the media as this effort produced by ukraine shoes. it's about the so called i t army, blocking russian propaganda and dis information. it's a measure that other baltic states have also taken on the right after the war started. it's no accident that lot shields is coordinated from talon in estonia.
5:18 pm
that's where nato cyber defense center is located. a central office of the western military alliance and its partners, the digital security. the estonian state had to defend itself against several serious cyber attacks back in 2007. and it's been taking the su seriously, ever since. oh, well, are up to know what it works pretty well. a so nice going to continuously on their heavy attack from my russia and the other source is potentially, but we hardly notice it because holla, defenses are very good, and that's how it should be for all nato countries. if the lot shields organizes have anything to do with it. so the cybersecurity analyst, dmitry, i'll peerage told me more about how cyber warfare is conducted right now in ukraine and beyond. let's, we'll assume because we're seeing the russians use cyber warfare quite extensively
5:19 pm
in ukraine. probably the most significant cyber attack we've ever had in history in the context. the warfare was undertaken by the russians in the 1st day of the war when they attacked actually not a ukrainian system, but an american company called via sat the provided satellite communications services to ukraine. and it had an effect in combination with other techniques that the russians were using to jam radio communications and the like to really blind the cranes in those initial critical hours of the conflict. and probably assisted the russians in the dramatic success, they pad and that 1st 48 hours and taking a big chunk of the country, particularly the south region where they made a lot of progress right away. and even in ki, if we're able to get almost to the outskirts of keith. then of course, the koreans fought back. in part because of star length, this solid communication system from the la musk they were able to re establish communications and turn the tide against the russians. but what the russians have not been able to do is really achieve any sort of strategic success. after that,
5:20 pm
despite the fact that they're launching all these attacks against ukrainian that works, ukrainians are quite resilient that bring them back back up quickly and are able to work around it. which areas are affected, the most military or civilian infrastructure? really, both the civilian infrastructure has been palm all of their energy sector, the financial sector, their media are under just constant assault in cyber space, with the so called wiper malware. a capabilities where they destroy date on, on your machines with denial of service attacks where they flood your websites and networks with traffic to or while you. so that is ongoing. on the military side, they've been really focused on gaining intelligence in cyberspace, gain access to sensitive military systems. a lot of ukrainian systems are actually connected to the internet because they wanna have every soldier in the military intelligence in real time, be able to submit information on russian troop movements and the like. and for that
5:21 pm
need access to the internet need access to the systems, but it also makes them more vulnerable for russian penetration. but the public is hardly noticing this, right? that's right. i mean, the public in ukraine is certainly notice in it, but when you put it in the context of daily kinetic strikes, the missile strikes this kamikaze drone strikes from iran going after critical infrastructure going after civilian buildings and, and cause a numerous casualties. you hardly worry about your website been down for a few hours. so that is the context in which we have to look at it in doesn't mean that cyber is an effective overall and warfare. what it means is that the russians have not been able to integrate cyber with their overall combined arms efforts with their ground troop movements with their artillery, with their air strikes for maximum fact, because that's really how you achieve successes in cyber not using as a standalone tool, but using combination with all of your other capabilities and they've just not had
5:22 pm
any success doing that, not just in cyberspace, but we're, as we're seen on the ground as well. now a one thing i would like to raise the, everybody is talking about a i these days. how big a role will artificial intelligence play in this kind of warfare in the future? well i think ai is really going to change every aspect of our lives and cyber is no exception. i think both on cyber offense and cyber defense, it's going to play a significant role. i think we're a number of years away from that. but the way that you can think about ai is that it's going to automate so many things that you currently do in cyberspace. from an attacker perspective, it may help attackers fine vulnerabilities in our software that they can then exploit to lunch. many more attacks going forward, but on the other hand, it's always a cat, mouse game, and cyberspace or defense as well. we're going to be able to use the same technology to try to identify those when we're abilities and close them off. so
5:23 pm
it's always going to be a race who is going to get there 1st was going to be faster. thank you very much. cyber security on the list to me to a pair of it. thanks a lot for sharing your expertise with us. thank you. kenny on our lives can be very tough for children. but some kids from the robes who room a suburb have decided to make the most of what they've got. and they've become a global internet sensation in the process. they use homemade props to recreate celebrity videos and have a huge falling on social media. w. news africa met up with the young stars on location in nairobi. phillips, marina reports mit the had shown kids can. as internet sensation, the group made a name for themselves, may mimicking the wild around them. here they do a parody or veteran kenyon opposition, leader reloading. oh,
5:24 pm
that anything do i? i felt so happy watching myself and the other people watching me again that encouraged me not to give up when you say to give up. they not only make fun of politicians, but try to find topics that appeal to a wider audience. who are laquanda until finance, we usually check what content we put out there within 11. i'd say we mostly do family friendly topic on law. ideas usually come from me or from the kids point and that is our content is made up of trending topics, picking something that impressed me online, or something the kids saw on a tv program online and come and say they loved it. so we go for it. oh good me. and i said, talked to her how it stole started out as just good fun, but to know that i knew for their daily lives laughing. i'm so happy to be in this group since it helps me make money which i use to buy sanitary towels, since
5:25 pm
a lack of sanitary towers is very common in our area when i picked yoke. knife made a lot of money, which i've used to pay school fees, the money help me a lot. it help my family to live, to pay rent. we use the money to buy food. every coin i made it's been put to good use for the group members hitched all has also given them a sense of bypass a group plan keeping. thankfully this group keeps me busy. then i avoid things like drug abuse or early pregnancy because i know if i wasn't busy, i might have gotten involved in these things. but there's only 2 tandem has not been shot of challenges near by. thou, i sometimes you find kids have come to at and they've not even had a meal at home. they start with morale law, but slowly that energy goes down. wish. yeah. ah. so hits on kids is not just an internet physician, but a group that has math at the, at all mimicking public figures,
5:26 pm
celebrities and other notable figures in the society. they have dreams for here and beyond for their future. in a while at that glen, i want to beat an actor lep on the i did the big it out, they mooney vas feature group, and this group has a bright future my by good actors, actresses and engineers. all of them my lawyer knew what, what up our vision is that people will come here to source talent, my only ah, you what changes w news is a reminder of the top stories we're following for you. the world's biggest space rocket has exploded minutes after take off the space, ex starship lifted off from the u. s. state of texas. but the cops will fail to separate from the booster, causing a huge blast. and nearly 80 people have been killed in across in yemen. hundreds, we're trying to get into school to collect financial message from me and the news
