in this election, the opposition is presenting voters with a much stronger alternative to add on and eval before. today here i feel the same feeding as i have in 2002 when we came to power. we will change and also retiring regime with our phones. i. oh, i see the some authority between me and my nation. nobody should forget that spring will come to this country with a very different the vision for the country's future. one that appeals to a wider section of people. here. also on the day 2 days ago, donald trump turned a cnn town hall into a campaign events. the aftershocks of that performance are still reverberating, but it would be a very dangerous, devastating and destructive thing. if donald trump got anywhere close to $1600.00 pennsylvania avenue,

out the ridge of type ad one for many people here that was long considered impossible. but soon, his days in office could be over. as more than $60000000.00 voters prepared to add to the ballot books. let's look at the issues that could threaten the president's grip on power. the most pressing concern to vote has something that's being felt by everyone. here is the cost of living prices. food prices, for example, have skyrocketed in recent years and even many middle cost of say they find it harder and harder to afford a decent standard of living. the value of the taxes you levi has plummeted with inflation, heating, 85 percent last october. and that's the highest, it's been in 25 years, many blame the situation on ad one's unconventional economic policies.

the president has also been criticized for his slow response to the devastating quakes that struck turkey se, only 3 months ago. more than 50000 people were killed. experts say failure to enforce building codes is to blame for the highly dest told. and that ad one's highly centralized system of power had weakened, state institutions. in the course of the 20 years, the ad one has been in power. he has hollowed out the democratic system. critics say he's face party loyalists and key positions crushed down on civil rights organizations and vote most of the media under government control. while ad one still enjoys the support of many religious conservatives, other states, they are increasingly put off by his strong men who like a better. he also faces an unusually galvanized opposition.

a watershed moment for turkey. in your opinion, what's at stake and sundays elections as well. these are very, very different divisions that compete said we have the ad on vision, which turkey knows by and large for the past 20 years. so he's antoine, gets elected. it will essentially continue with regard to a set of policies. because justifiably, you will believe that the new popular mandate as being the case of a he's a policy that however, is crucial when it's a different, a very different options. including democratic reforms on the return to conventional economics. and also for a revitalization of turkeys west and location. so in that sense or the choices are actually very strong. yeah. that with air to on controlling 90 percent of the
12:09 am
turkish media and his crack down of the opposition and defend in general. it's hard to call these elections fair to begin with, but do you think they'll be free? yes, i think by and large they will be free. it is true that they are a number of elements that make this unfair. the government party is able to rely on the state police forces. many of the states and situations tend to favor the government party when they rule. uh, the lead. yeah, it's another case. but ultimately, the, despite the parents of these elections, he will be by and large street. that's the, the tradition for which the head of the opposition cannot believe. so let, today accuse russia of interfering and the turkish election. what do you make of that as well?
12:10 am
it's quite a remarkable statement. i think that apart from the 2016 elections in the us, we haven't really heard the, the, these are all the head of state or who had to state a choosing rough shot with such clear language. so i assume that a crucial role that some evidence to back is interesting to today. uh, are dawn uh, protect up to 10, and therefore here as well, there's a very clear difference between the 2 leaders in terms of their perception of the russian leader. me put an arrow on go way back or no one has been in power for 20 years. no fears are that if he were to be defeated, he wouldn't go down without a fight. will he respect the outcome of the democratic process if he loses, or she will respect the outcome of the democratic process. a turkey has a very long tradition of multi party elections. they to $94.00 to $6.00. uh and uh,
12:11 am
people know and care about the importance of develop, fox. uh, that has been an example back of 2019 during the local elections for instance, when the government a challenge, the outcome of the elections. this some of the forces rerun in the 1st instance of the challenge and come with no more with the truth may or will be stumble at one by a false to a 20013 volts. and in the 2nd round, with this 6 weeks, the, the difference of mushroom 860000. yeah. so that's just kind of already being in that instance pressure, the courts to allow the rerun didn't they want to move on? because we don't have all that much time left at turkey, it has been walking a very fine line um it with regards to the war in ukraine, the famously broker at the black sea green deal. where would lead show lou,
12:12 am
stand on the matter of ukraine. on the matter of ukraine, the churches for the sea will not change very much. turkey has been supported politically of ukraine, but it has also sold to retain a high level engagement with russia. that's for the sea of calibration will not change the federal a waiver of the relationship between the 2 b. there's this change. i don't think that any other choice either then add on can have the same type of relationship which puts in this. so that this voltage. what is your production for sunday? i seem to position when i'm off the bat over 50 percent to the yes. more likely than not that we'll see, you know, on sunday uh, with a 10 margin. so a little bit above 50 percent. but that's now the more likely so not all right, that was former charges diplomats and and many thanks for your time. thank you.

donald trump's town to an answer session this week was this 1st public appearance since the jury declared and liable for sexually assaulting and defending the columnist 18 carol. and also sparked a storm of criticism of news network. cnn for staging and event that turned into a platform of spreading faucets for it from over an hour, a trump repeated letting me of lies, such as the 2020 election being ranked. it took no responsibility for the january 6 interaction that those very lies and signed. and he mocked carol his accuser on air calling her claim of a decades old sexual assault. faith and a made up story. and trump was challenged by the host, katelyn collins, whom he called a nasty person on air. but the sheer volume of untruths was difficult to keep up
12:14 am
with cnn's decision to provide a platform for trump in front of an audience of registered republicans in independent voters. as been blasted by many in the media in the us, brian stealth, or the american journalist, best known as a former chief media correspondent for cnn, posted this online. this is the 2024 republican presidential primary look away if you choose that. this is what it's going to be like. should news outlets sanitize it or spare it in the face for the writer and journalist james fallows this to say on twitter. this is cnn's lowest moment as an organization, but some voices were more sympathetic to cnn. there along well is a republican, political strategist and publisher of the neo conservative news and opinion website, the bulwark and c tweeted, i have complaints and i don't really blame cnn for having a town hall with a g o. p. front runner is good to know what we're facing. we can hide from the fight in front of us. trump is probably going to be the nominee,
12:15 am
and we need to be clear eyed about what we're dealing with. and this has raised a question if we deal with it, how should we as the media then handle donald trump declared sexual predator and liar? if he gets the republican nomination for president of the united states to discuss this, i'm joined now by mike's tiny media editor of the online news outlets settled. 2 max, what's your take on cnn's decision to stage the town hall? uh well, i think uh cnn ran into exactly what many people expected they would run into, which is a candidate who was unapologetic, who lied on camera and who made a number of other false statements. uh, that was totally expected by many people in the us media and, and many people at cnn who questions decision from the outset. i think the thing that many people weren't expecting was just how,
12:16 am
how bad and how disruptive it would be to have a, you know, a cheering audience, you know, in front of him, of, of trump, supporters and other republicans and independents, people who are thinking about voting for him either for you know, the 3rd time or, you know, possibly, possibly for the 1st. so i think it was, i think it was a, from one perspective, it was a pretty big disaster for cnn. uh it was, it was embarrassing to have their anger be ruled by trump to be overpowered by trunk on camera. but i think in some ways cnn thinks that this is a victory because you know that it was a pretty big readings weekday, reading success over 3000000 people to did, which is a lot more than they normally got. and um, you know, it was, it's part of a larger strategy that cnn, uh, has been implementing under their new leadership, which is, you know, to, to extended olive branch to republicans and conservatives,
12:17 am
to try to win back some of the conservative voters who have gone to other places including fox news or who are just simply not watching the evening news at night. um, so i think that they took a reputational hit on people in the media here. um, you know, but ultimately this is a business and they were able to, they were able to get a pretty solid reading site. yeah. zooming out of it and not, not focusing as much on the network now, the number and speed of fall. so it's coming from trump left fact checkers, spinning basically, and the ma, the writer didn't do an excellent job in calling mount for many of his lives. but he only double down from your point of view as a media analyst. what changes could be made to prevent a situation like this, from spewing unfiltered lives and conspiracies arising again as well. this is the question that a lot of people been asking for since 2015 when he 1st kind of emerged as a, as a serious as a political, as a candidate for the republican nomination. and as kind of a political forces. what do you do with someone who seems to only be in bold?
12:18 am
and by not telling the truth, it's a really, really tough assignment and it's true katelyn collins. the moderator really did, did her best to fact check. but i think that one of the, one of the issues is that she was essentially not playing on her turf. even though cnn hosted the town hall was filled, the audience was filled with people cheering for trumpeter. many from supporters infuse the republican front runner for the nomination, and the audience was a republican, primary voting crowd in new hampshire. so i think that one of the things that they could try to do in the future is if they do want to you, uh, you know, conduct interviews with them or, or, you know, have sort of exclusive appearances is uh, you know, having a cheering audience of of trunk supporters in the background certainly does know favors, you know, for it for the interviewer, for the network and for, for news consumers as well. and obviously this is the whole reason why you have
12:19 am
this event is to try and make news to try to ask him tough questions. and it's, it's, it's tough when you're being drowned out by an audience of the, of the supporters in the back. so i think that, you know, starting with maybe a, just a one on one or even just a, a room full of people who are undecided or a mix would be that would be much more helpful. he is back in the mainstream. now for spending much of his post white house time in his mag, a bible, we all have to learn how to handle these kinds of situation. has this caused you and your colleagues of 74 to reconsider how you will report on pro or um, you know, not necessarily obviously uh we're very familiar with uh, you know, most of us of, of covered in for, for, for many, many years now. i think that i can't see a situation in which we would put ourselves in the, in cnn's, in the same situation as, as cnn. uh, you know,
12:20 am
with that kind of audience. but obviously, you know, we want to be continued to be a continued asked, asked him tough questions and you know, what went on when the opportunity arises. and, you know, obviously we would not turn down, you know, in the interview. you know, with the republican frontrunner someone who could be the president again, but if i don't think that we would have a form of similar, similar to that one. i mean, i, you know, i don't think i'm speaking out of turn by saying, and before we move on, have you noticed anything changed about the trump of 2023, as opposed to the trump who left off is absolutely not. he's exactly the same candidate that many of us, he's the exact same candidate that he was as, as president and candidate before that he continues to, to make statements to make, you know, the inflammatory statements and to kind of, you know, overpower whoever is whoever is interviewing interviewing him, you know, he continues to also resonate with many conservatives and republican voters who
12:21 am
love the fact that he challenges the media big, relatively and, and into meetings and bullies journalists, that's part of the appeal. and, and so no, i think this is very similar to in media parents. he would have done in 2016 or in 2018 or pretty much any time since he, you know, emerged as the mayor of the republican party. there is something else i want to discuss with you max because a long musk has announced a new c o. to take over from him as a head of twitter in about 6 weeks. mosque will be handing the reins to linda. yeah, corrina. he says she'll focus on business operations while he concentrates on new technology and design. decker reno has a strong background in advertising sales and appeared on stage with must last month in front of hundreds of advertisers. many of tutors advertising customers, a band and the site and the chaotic aftermath of his purchase of the social media company. right. lower big macs. so yeah. see what in town,
12:22 am
what can you tell us about linda? yeah. carina. yeah. um, you know, she's actually a very familiar person uh in, in the media industry here in the united states. uh, she was a very powerful figure at nbc universal, which obviously owns nbc news. uh and uh, you know, universal uh, you know, movies. uh, so she is very, very well known uh, in, in media circles here. and, you know, the news was applauded by advertisers in many who, many of whom she's developed very, very strong relationships with the main takeaway that we should kind of have here is that this is yolanda attempting to extend a, you know, a managed fences with some of the advertisers who have left twitter since the since he took over it's, it's been a chaotic space, and many advertisers have been unsure about what to make of some of the changes that he's implemented. linda ya from, you know, is one of the even most respected uh,
12:23 am
people in that industry. uh and so i think this was, this was a really smart and savvy move by. you want to kind of bring it in somebody who, who knows that world is familiar to people there and i think it was very, very clear what he was, what he was trying to accomplish. does this mean laska is no longer going to be calling the shots and twitter ultimately i, i mean we don't really know yet, but i think that he's gonna will, he's remaining on as, as chairman and as chief technology officer, i think that he's still gonna have a tremendous amount of power, and that's going to be one of, of windows challenges is it's gonna be, how do you manage both your users? uh, you know what, one thing your advertisers who expect, you know, a safe environment where, you know, a brand safe environment where you can have their ads next to the content that isn't objectionable. and someone who has proven that they like to push the
12:24 am
boundaries and post in inflammatory content as well. and, you know, play date, some of the more extreme users on the platform and that person is, is your boss. so i mean, she's got a lot to juggle, it's not going to be an easy task, but it certainly is the 1st 1st step in trying to rebuild bridges with advertisers to a 6 weeks to prepare for it. now some of forest max, tanya, always great speaking to you. thank you so much. for instance. i thanks i, this is your is your vision. san contest is almost here. it's usually hosted by the previous years when or that honor last year when to ukraine. but because of russia's ongoing war against his neighbor, there's been a change of plan. last year's run around the u. k. as hosting instead. but ukraine is hoping for a 2nd consecutive when with ukranian music, do a torch e and their song inspired by ukrainian fighters and mario paul,
