is a man with a mission to when 1st the war and then the peace. i bring golf and berlin, this is the day the ukrainians has never chosen the war. our throats didn't go to other plans. the most important thing we can do right now says global peace and security is to support ukraine. we do not engage in unexcused plunder of other nissan resources. just peace is only possible for us to see that it was in this war. i'm cold packets troops to, to, unfortunately, i'm there awesome. in the world and here and on you put on a blind i the,

i'll say coming up the g 70 keys is beijing of using its economic power to bully other nation. so what is the g 7 planning to do about going to talk about the broad scope of course of activities by the peer c and economics is certainly a part of that. yes, that will be part of the discussion, but so will be the security of course, and that the, that we see coming out appear see whether it's in the east, tennessee, whether it's in taiwan straight or the south china sea. all that will be discussed here to our viewers watching on p b, as in the united states and to all of you around the world. welcome. we begin today with ukraine's president load of mia zalinski. the actor turned president, who also bears the title commander in chief, international lobbyist and traveling preacher man. russia's invasion of ukraine is forced to zelinski to take on responsibilities that he could not have imagined just a few short years ago. ukraine's armed forces are in an existential battle against russian invaders in the east of the country,
10:33 pm
in order to equip his soldiers zalinski have spent and much of the last year. lobbying allies defend weapons, everything from battle tanks to fighter jets. he's expected to do more of that to have to g 7 summit in japan on sunday. we have this report a symbol of a catastrophic consequences of nuclear war. the peace memorial park in hiroshima, when the 1st atomic bomb was dropped by the us in 1945, a compelling backdrop for the scots of the g. 7 summit in japan. at the top of the latest mines was likely not only the devastation of the past, but also that the need to pretend that his continuous reminders of russia's nuclear capability. the g seven's host, japanese prime minister tony oki sta once this summit to be a balance of commitment to a world with no nuclear weapons or the sad reality hanging over this so much. in
10:34 pm
hiroshima, you said the ukraine war is on the school, that nuclear weapons remain as relevant as ever. not just because of letting me poosey and threats, but because of the history of ukraine's own nuclear weapons, which it gave up to russia in the 19 ninety's leaving face a tunnel. question of what's happening now. what bruton ever having faded? if you train have kept those weapons for the 2nd year in a row, russia's board and ukraine has the shadow discussions that the g 7 leaders have announced. further sanctions against moscow, including on the trade of russian diamonds. and of promised for the unwavering support to key, if ukrainian president below them is a lensky, is expected to join them at the summit on sunday. tumble this pretty much is a those are those very important things will be decided that the presence of our president is absolutely essential to defend our interests. so we started with this, i'm not mosley. and that actually on the sidelines of the g 7 summit science key is
10:35 pm
also expected to meet the render moody of an effort to convince the indian prime minister to shift his alliance from russia to ukraine. as the war continues on the ground, there's no lights off either. on the diplomatic front, it was the lensky appeared before the arrow bleak today and saudi arabia of zalinski, the diplomat thinking those who support his country and so, and ski the preacher man, if you will, convinced of his moral authority not showing away from calling out those who live themselves with russia? one can only guess what syria and president bush are out of sod must have been fiji . moves terribly. nations have back un resolutions condemning russians invasion. but unlike the west, they have not imposed any sanctions. and many still maintained close ties to moscow . so landscape, choose some leaders of turning a blind guy to russian transgressions. you bring us
10:36 pm
has never shows in the work. our tools didn't go to other lands. we do not engage in unexcused sense um, plunder of other nice us resources, but we will never submit to any for in theirs or colonizers. that's why we fight, and i'm sure all your nations will understand this. our main emotion, and i'm also sure all your nations will understand the main goal. i want to live here in jetta and noble goal to all of you to help protect our people, including you create in muslim community as well. my next guest is alexander shabba, is the former ukrainian, and bachelor to austria. he's also the author of the book, ukraine versus dark is
10:37 pm
a collection of essays based on the 2 and a half decades that he spent as a career diplomat and speech writer for ukrainian leaders. and bassett. or it's good to have you with this get to see you again. what can or, or what, what could president zalinski hope to achieve by speaking at the era bleak summit today. i mean, considering that syrian president barger, i will sod was sitting in the audience there listening to it. thank you for inviting me. uh, well, uh, i think this visit was a long overdue because this part of the world was always kind of problematic. we crane and to receive the rest of it right now is trying to mount some wave of supports among the nations of what they call global self and the to try to pools as the downside into release. oh,
10:38 pm
although uh this war they're conducting you into those or in the us history. yeah, of course it's a, it's, we are to see the serial president, saving him on the, the leaders considering how much blog here has on his hands. but this is like day by this week, and i'm wondering what do you make of the offer that has come from the soul of the crown prince, a selman, who many people also think had something to do with the murder of the journalist is jamal could shogi be he's offered to mediate between ukraine and russia. the problem in this war is not the lack of mediators. there are plenty of those sound yeah. of the list. so in this will do. the problem in this war is the lack of
10:39 pm
goodwill on the part of rush. i will send it to you on the part of losing the problem, ma'am. so of course that's a great thing. a driver was that they sold you either has played already a positive role in exchanges. so b o w, as in this war and we're thank him for that. but i think the key problem is in moscow. let's talking about president zalinski the traveling man. i mean, if he doesn't show up anywhere else 1st, he's expected to be at the g 7 summit in japan by sunday. how important is that? and just the symbolism, the optics of this trip for zalinski zalinski is not above the symbolism of 6 foot. frankly. you would be surprised, but it is my experience. he is very much resolved to we i'm just now. so when i heard the other day that he would be traveling to 0. so my,
10:40 pm
my 1st reaction was the must be some something concrete. she will bring back, i'm to him today or yesterday last night. they birds about the decisions about the f. 16 c i, i just confirmed in my expectations of for the pick since we are important to and he's a boy that know, let me ask you about this. the news with the f. 16 jets the unit. the us is now reportedly willing to train ukrainian pilots to fly these f. 16 fighter jets. what's your reaction to that? this is extremely important. it's a very, very much in 3rd to, to, to receive the certified to just as soon as possible. simply because the russian started when you web on the thing that's the, to change of the course of this war and this lab on this slide and have asian
10:41 pm
belongs so. so it's like a 500 kilogram. so 1000 kilograms. so whole was explosives and gliding on your head. so from the russian. if i took jets of bits of shooting them from the russian territory from safe distance. if we have something to counter that would be f 16, it would be in the collapse of old dreams of on hold for the invaders here in defense minister or like say, resident costs of says that f. 16 jet, so will be zalinski is main theme at the g 7 summit. the believe it ukraine is getting closer to, to getting the jets and the number of jets that it wants. well, we have seen this ceiling before, right? so at 1st it's a, it's an all go down. you might consider a of them uh,
10:42 pm
when maybe one of the sides, we'll supply as i'm down. it's a go. so we very much, it seems like we are very much close to this browse step. the answer where else to do it the staff is not good at the g. 17 saw me it's i think it's a little bit perfect and that's where i heard it today. a report saying that if the americans trained ukrainian pilots to fly the 16th, that they could possibly have the 1st pilots ready to fly in about 9 weeks. so a little over 2 months. that is very, very ambitious. are. are you convinced that your pilots have the where with all to make that happen? to me, that's incredibly fast. crystal, i'm not sure whether our pilot stuff no to registar the training. the 2nd of all, we have seen how capable our military is. you know, we just took a pilots are really skillful employ. i'm much less comfortable pieces of
10:43 pm
machinery. them modern western you know, 5 success, but big, strongly clever and big thing we, you know, must be that. so i think to also from the point of view it will go fast and sort of well, but frankly in the beginning of this war of river boomers, lots and lots of rumors about western pilots, super, we're ready to take to brand new citizens to, to help us out, the emissions like that is ukraine. happy with the latest sanctions against russia that have been announced that the g 7, that well, we are head the that's the word soros awesome is being pronounced final way because the most of them, that's the main nuclear maintenance and nuclear uh, you know, uh, hands uh, moves over ice uh, in building you,
10:44 pm
you'd never answers outside of russia. so it would be a huge blow to, you know, these rush on atlantic coast, which is there to spread all over the world. and so the injustice, it has been counting on you know, money flowing through a little d as in old maintenance of this new best patients, new football plans for years. and the kids, if they are comfortable, it would be, it would really, really, there are the other things are important. of course. do you know before we let you go? we've been reporting now the last couple of weeks about presidents lensky going to one year a p and capital after another either. now today he was in saudi arabia. now he's headed for japan. i mean, this is a real diplomatic offensive being carried out by your president. how is that viewed where you are? i mean, is he, is he in a pressing the flesh, the way you expect you should?
10:45 pm
it's to do in a terrific, joe who's doing the service. you give him his critics are impressed because um, no, you cannot underestimate this optics and the feeling that you've been young's gather and seeing our president being this warmly embraced embrace by really the leaders so hopeful for the most important countries of the world. and especially compared to the political installation of russia beds uh, just yesterday was the glowing about the 3 t. it was gone the about the non proliferation of weapons to this space. we saw this a little bit so the kind of funny. yeah. um, of course it gives us the advantage of upticks and circles north north only.
10:46 pm
alexander share about the former accredited investor to austria, investor. as always, we appreciate your time. we appreciate you taking time on a friday evening to speak with us. thank you. thank you. one of the names of the g 7 summit in japan is to craft a unified position against what is called economic coersion by china. the us for example says that b, g retaliates with economic measures. when other governments or companies businesses do something better, doesn't like such as maintaining ties with taiwan. for example. now we don't know if g 7 members will find common ground here, but we can confirm that this agenda item does not sit well at all with b, g to watch when i find out has never engaged in collection of bullying. china has always a post game in the unit, naturalism and cost if diplomacy. we are just the g 7 to confirm to the general trends of the era which is open this and inclusiveness and refrain from engaging
10:47 pm
coercive diplomacy. i closed an exclusive clicks or if i'm more now i want to bring in matthew reynolds from the center for strategic and international studies in washington. matthew testified at the hearing of the house for an affairs committee on showing is economic aggression and predatory practices just yesterday. matthew, it's good to have you with this. um i read the transcript from your. busy to moni, i'm wondering have you received any feedback or reaction from the lawmakers on capitol hill since yesterday? first i wanna say thank you for having me here today and talk about this important topic person. i have not received any, any feedback from the hearing, but i will say that the hearing, i think, is indicative of the increasing attention on capitol hill that this important issue is receiving. and the, the efforts by the administration also to counter trans economic course in your organization. and i've recently published a comprehensive report on chinese economic co where coersion of what is the big
10:48 pm
threat here. yeah, so the big threat from china's economic question is, is basically it's deterrence that does the threat mean threat of trends that kind of according prevent uh, you know, allies and partners. i'm taking positions to push back against china as malign behavior in other domains. and would you say that china is open about the way it targets? you know, those entities which have displeased incoming compared to the way the west uses. the sanctions. i would say it's the opposite. uh, so in our report, you mentioned there we, we did a deep dive into a cases of china's economic course, and that's been roughly the last 13 years. and those case studies we identified, you know, some common characteristics of trends, economic portion, and the report we, we name quite a few, but informality really stood out as one of the primary characteristics of china is
10:49 pm
i cannot make coersion, i, you know, basically likes to mask its its economic question behind excuses that way. it gives itself a bit of a possible deniability. you know, i was reading a report just this week that listed countries in the global south that have taken huge loans from china and that the terms of paying back those loans have led these countries to maybe behind gloves doors to regret taking the money to begin with and i'm just wondering, and your opinion is what china does, is it really effective or does it actually hurt itself as much as it hurts others? yeah that's, that's a great, a great insight that i think from our report and something that surprised us was looking into these cases. we actually saw that china is economic origin, has mixed results at best and achieving and short term goals and actually carried a long term strategic costs for badging and a lot of these cases. so, you know, i think australia space is very indicative of this trend. so australia has not back
10:50 pm
down and it's caused for an investigation. and to the origin of the coven 19 pandemic. and it's only been pushed closer to the united states since china is economic bullying began in came to the office security agreement in 2021. so you do see a lot of blow back for, for badging when it uses these packets. if you've had the year of all of the leaders at the g 7 summit in japan right now, what would you tell them to do in terms of, of developing a counter strategy against this economic bully? so 1st i would say uh, you know, you have to dump resilience to try is that common core as in one way you can do that is engaging a free trade agreements with, with like my allies and partners that will reduce, you know, china's economic influence on a relative basis and, and help to speed these market adjustments that we see taking place naturally in response to china's economic course. and at the same time, i'd recommend that the g 7 look to develop relief policies and they can use to then
10:51 pm
not provide relief when analia partner is chorused by china. one thing that we identified in our report was that speed a response is very important that countries are, you know, most likely to back down, you know, during the threatening process or shortly after those sanctions by china are in place. so the us and the d 7 other g 7 countries should be clicked right, relief and speed, those market adjustments to decrease pressure on the targeted countries. let me just a minute before we run out of time. what role does trade play in, in any us push back against china? i mean, you know, a lot of the countries see china as their most important trading partner. yeah, so as mentioned in our report, we sort of, uh, you know, recommend a 2 pronged strategy. one on one side we have a rebuilding resilience on our side. we have providing relief and trade free trade agreements typically are the major component of that resilience side of our
10:52 pm
accounting for and you know, before and just record. so as you mentioned, you know, countries are increasingly seen. i think the majority of countries now see china as their number one trading partner on where the us can offset that influences by getting back into business. a free trade in negotiating a free trade agreements with allies and partners to, you know, decrease that influence on a relative basis that china has over our, our friends may have rentals with the center for strategic and international studies in washington that we appreciate you taking their time to talk with us, we will probably be calling upon you again soon. thank you. great, thank you. with a boy in ukraine is being waged in the mass media as well as on the battlefield. in our next report, we profile a pop singer whose become when it rushes highest, paid the entertainers. he's also an enthusiastic cheerleader for his president vladimir approved

in our country. a long and shame for tradition exists, of sponsoring and spreading state propaganda for popular as the city of so many people. but some artists have chosen to leave russia rather than be part of the kremlin propaganda contains either because of political pressure or to signal the disagreement with a kremlin. what it can stand is one of them. the millionaire wrapper now lives in to buy the car to the music. in this video, he listens to music in a car, next to young ukrainian school place a voice message from his mother describing their house being bombed the weather out of to conviction or pragmatism. so mind and other artists have chosen a different route, a great to group. so this is the hype around shop on is artificial. she is
