outstanding, i'm not, it's not i personally as i've stand the leadership of the g 7 this year, as well as mrs. krashib and the entire japanese government for the hospitality. they've shown to joe myself and our whole team to being in the city and visiting the memorial on friday. was a powerful reminder of the devastating reality of nuclear war and our shared responsibility. to never cease our efforts to bill for peace. and together with the leaders of the g 7, we, every at every we have reiterated our commitment to continue to work toward a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons. over the past few days have a showcase the unity, the unity of purpose. among the g 7. it's a very different organization that it was 5710 years ago. because we're addressing the challenges and matter most to the world were united in our efforts to strengthen global health security. and yesterday,

and now and so the united states plans to contribute another $250000000.00 to the pandemic fund at the world bank. to make sure the world is better prepared to prevent, detect and respond to future pandemic where you 9 and our commitment to climate action and accelerating the transition to a global clean energy economy. by investing in the industries of the future were united in our push to build a more resilient, inclusive global economy that can better withstand the kinds of shocks that we've experienced over the last few years, including by building a more secure and more diversified supply chain is through the partnership for global infrastructure and investment, which we launched last year at the g 7 summit in germany. and we've addressed the infrastructure needs that are holding back to many low and moderate income countries. particularly in the global south. united states has already mobilize for the 1st a $1000000000.00 in p g. i projects around the globe,

a significant step toward our, our collective pledge of the g 7 to mobilize $600000000000.00 investment by 2027. and we resolved to reform the multi lateral development backs to begin the more flexibility and better able to flight poverty by help and respond to global challenges. now, we're also united in our approach, the people's republic of china. the joint statement released yesterday outlines the shared principles. we've all agreed at the g 7 and beyond dealing with china. we're not looking to do couple from china. we're looking to de risk and diversify our relationship with china. that these take the steps to diversify our supply chains and we're not the so we're not dependent any one country for necessary products it mays resist, economic coersion, together encountering harmful practices that hurt our workers. rece, protecting

a narrow set of advanced technologies. critical for our national security. those elements are all agreed on by the g 7. finally joint here here a shame of our presence unless key and the g 7 reaffirmed our shared and unwavering . appreciate again, our shared and on waiver and commitment to stand with a brave people ukraine as a defend themselves against russia's brutal war of aggression and the war crimes being committed together with our partner countries, we reiterate to the need for just peace respects ukraine sovereignty and territorial integrity, both core principles of the un charter. russia started this war, and russian good ended today by withdrawing his troops from ukraine, internationally recognized borders and c. c. it's a saw until then, excuse me, the ability ukraine's ability to defend itself is essential to being able and as

were permanently and through diplomacy, you know, and this morning i once more share and assure presence. and let's get together with all g 7 members on our allies, partners around the world that we will not wave put and will not break our resolve as he thought he could. 2 years ago, almost 3 years ago, we're going to continue to provide economic, humanitarian and security assistance to ukraine, so it can stand strong as long as it needs. today, united states announce our latest trench of artillery ammunition on a tank weapons and bridging equipment to help you can succeed in the battlefield. you know, i'm, i probably really would present unless the after the 7 meeting. and then with the staff, i told the guy who stays together with our allies and partners, going to begin training. ukrainian pilots in 4th generation fighter aircraft including f. 16 to strengthen ukraine's air force as part of a long term commitment to cranes ability to defend itself. we provided to last year,

all that they needed to deal with what they were dealing with at the moment. and that's for the now we're moving in the direction of putting them in a position to be able to be defend themselves in ways beyond what they've had to deal with so far. the past few days have once more underscored how important america's global leadership is presumptuous thing for the american present to say. but i think you'll find a draft. can you? my colleague is true for security and prosperity, the american people are substantially increased by working in concert with our closest allies and partners to build the future of greater economics trends to resilience in a world that is more peaceful and stable. as many of these issues that matter to the american people, accelerating our clean energy transition, preventing another pandemic, dealing with china, standing up for ukraine. the meetings i've had with my fellow g 7 leaders have left us more united, more resolved,
12:08 pm
and more determined to set up for the greater progress in the months of head. and this has been extremely significant and important something with that, i'm gonna take some questions and trevor of reuters useful a moment ago about what you won't do in terms of your negotiations with republicans . but i'm interested in what you've signaled you already might do. in particular, by conceding in these negotiations to some form of a tab or freezing spending, are you concerned that mr. mccarthy has already forced you into accepting a policy position that could tip this economy into a recession? no, i don't believe that's the case at all. as matter of fact, i think that is we can reach an agreement, as i've told you, and you may be aware you've seen it. we have provided for a,
12:09 pm
a proposal that would cut a trillion dollars off the base line spent from the year before by just agreeing to deal with what we was initially offer. and secondly, we're in a situation where the me for this way, if you all were doing your budget at home and you said ok, we have to make some cards. would you only look at the spending? would you also look at your income? what was coming to the door to determine what you can afford. and so part of what i've been arguing from the beginning is a need to consider the tax structure as well as, as well as cutting spend. i'm willing to cut spend and i propose cuts and spending of over trillion dollars. but i believe we have to also look at the tax revenues.
12:10 pm
the idea that the my republican colleagues want to continue the 2 trillion dollar tax cut that had profound negative impacts on the economy from the trump administration. the fact that they are, we've provided for the number we got, we got a lot of input from serious economist and former administration officials and both parties that we need more people who are qualified to be able to look at the tax returns of the $6000.00 billionaires in america, very complicated stuff. it's estimated that if we had the appropriate number of tax tax personnel that we would save somewhere between we generated so. so somewhere between $200000000000.00 and $400000000.00 in tax revenue. and there's a lot of others to, for example, the idea that we're in terms of taxes that they refuse to. for example, we,
12:11 pm
i was able about is to budget in the past every day from the global warming bill. anyway, i was able to cut by $1700000.00 in the 1st 2 years. the deficit that we are we're, we're accumulating. and because i was able to say to it that the $55.00 corporations in america, they made $4400000000000.00 or 40000000000 dollars, 400000000000 dollars. that they, they had pay 0 tax 0. and so we said you've got to pay a minimum of 50 percent taxes. what a horrible thing you're pay more than 50 percent of the taxes. every one of you out there. and so guess what? we know a balanced budget we, we were able to reduce the deficit by $1700000000.00. so there's a lot of things that they refuse to look at in terms of the tax generation, as well as what kind of people were going to increase taxes for. like i said,
12:12 pm
we're now down to we went from some are roughly $740000000000.00 errors to a uh about a 1000 billionaires in america, they're paying an average tax rate rate of 8 percent. raise your hand if you want to pay percent only. i think, you know, be ready to do that. so my point is that there's a lot of things that they refuse to entertain. and they just said revenue is off the table, or revenue is not off the table. and so that's where, like you to, we continue to have a significant disagreements on the revenue side. all right, we've been listening to the us president and joe biden, speaking at the g 7 summit in hiroshima, japan, july, and speaking. they are more on domestic issues, but before that, he spoke a great deal about ukraine, about the commitment of the g 7 members to continuing their support of ukraine and fight against russia. he also spoke about the unity of the g 7 nations in
12:13 pm
addressing the challenges facing the global south supporting investments in those regions, supporting global health, climate action, working together to ensure a more resilient and global economy. also, unity on the position of the g 7 and china. so a lot of different issues that have been discussed at the summit. our chief international editor, richard walker, has been following all of that and he is with us from the g 7 in hiroshima. richard, what stood out for you most in vines remarks that we heard as well. well, i think it's close to what's to that it should be in february and you can't really ignore it. is, is um, you know, what happens when you take the white house press cool, uh to japan. you can end up with questions about domestic politics. and of course, it is true that joe biden is facing a serious domestic situation. while we were just hearing that him,
12:14 pm
there was addressing the fact that the united states is approaching what's called the debt ceiling. that, that it has to go to congress to get it to approve a further raising of the amount of money that they can borrow one international markets to keep the government operating. we know the end in the, in recent years and respect cases it happens on several occasions. is that that, that image is being hit and then suddenly the us government has to shut down operational so it, so that's the situation back home in the united states at the moment. this kind of big game of political chicken that is being played between the republicans and the democrats, and that actually meant the joe biden is causing this trip short. he was intending to go on from japan to pep when you get me into a stray. yeah. um the honors sort of a regional tool, the plus type of person, instead of pushing pep, when you give me the had been that already before coming to japan saying he wants to get back to washington to deal with the situation that you see. that's what the us press qualified focus on that the bite and in his remarks. certainly saying that
12:15 pm
he has a much better story to tell on the international uh from the, the discussions going on here with the g 7. i think the g 70 does seem pretty satisfied um by the progress that they've made, both in terms of um, showing support for ukraine. the fact of love to me is that legs became here. sorry, palpably symbolic. and so we're told to bounce back in a minute. we're going to hear from some of them is let's be soon as well in his own press conference. and also talking about relations with china, trying to get g 7 countries to really harmonize their approach. and how they should deal with the rising power of china, economic history, j to diplomatically, militarily and around the world. and they've kind of gathered around the spouse web, which has come out in the last few months. so the idea of the risking the relationships and trying to pull the risk out of, of elements of the relationship whether economic, technological robinson to more kind.
