7:17 pm
and 10 years of a cape of phenomenon buyback, v tiers for setup 10 years ago. today we look at why they're both fidelity and deals, and what that say is, if i say pops up in the, i'd be to expand it. you're welcome to dw and use aisha. i'm glad you could join us in there has dumbed an outright lie claims by phone my to a to see your jack to see the dental. you have to shut it down in india unless it complied with its orders. speaking to a youtube channel, dorsey said prime minister neither more. these government wanted accounts, critical of the government's handling of the farmers protest in 2021 restricted dorsey who left. i see you in 2021. was speaking to the breaking points general on youtube and he said, and i quote in there for example, india is
7:18 pm
a country that had many request suffice around the farm as process around particular done, most critical of the government and a manufactured in ways such as we were shopped down in india, which is a very large market for us. we will rate the homes of your employees, which they did. we will shut down your offices if you don't follow suit. i'm this is india a democratic country. and joining me not from what is canada modern dot india, a representative of the committee to protect your unless cannot all these recommendations from jack door, so you're told, surprising as well. yeah, this is emily's just not really a relation to be very honest because twitter under door to see has all these, you know, as long as they transferred in about such matters, especially request of censorship from different government. and it's, it's
7:19 pm
a well documented fact that there's been a sickness there was a significant spike in dumont mean by, in the apple, from the quotes as well as from the government to remove onto the front window between 20142022 done by others to be able to draw spencer to vote. and as far as the specified big acquisition of problems to dorsey around the bomb as booked as a government that actually in aust on nearly 1200 accounts to be blocked. you know what, i think asians of them being sympathetic to the post on movement, which is the same except for disappointment in india. and before that, the platform was also out of date on august. the date accounts now initially did comply with this request, but that some points that i did not do and then the unblocked some of the accounts which we initially blocked. subsequently we saw the documents and all the offices are off, but what does the daily and go down right now?
7:20 pm
no good. and then in july, uh, last year uh, with this being in government actually, what does it just uh, was just approved for the use of uh was by the ocean. uh, what do these allegations and everything that you have said right now say about this government's approach to free speech in a democracy as well. in the last few years, they had been growing concerns about the speech and press freedom in india and digital space, particularly as now because the new battle ground between uses was aligned with the government was as those were opposed or given independent voices, particularly journalist. and we have seen allegations of trolling faxed, this information, this information i even use a spine back to target charlotte and the government and is that social conflict with the has not done enough to console this information and stuff is required when
7:21 pm
it comes to allegations about the routing block is on, you know, i do sell the information technology stuffs which many allege has developed. and for many of this information i'm putting that into the brand. i have to leave it the timing, but thanks so much for joining us today. canada more than the from the committee to protect lists. thank you so much. thank you. the south career center basic and happy anniversary. escape of supergroup beach. yes. tons. 10. first of it is for the boy band intrude, fireworks dining. so landmarks, the band signature, color purple, and even a special post. it's time to mark the occasion video. so i've got them for you on hire to as, as some members of their medicaid duties. but that all me a funds are very much out in force. souls landmarks lift purple to celebrate the decade of south korea's most successful musical act. the b t. s is
7:22 pm
more than just the boy band. its role in driving the explosion of global interest in korean culture has made it a source of national pride. cartoon that, i mean you don't, i'm so proud to be a citizen of the same country as be to use. now anywhere i go when i say i'm from korea, people always welcome me. so i'm very proud of them and happy the little tough. so, but just send me that with fans all over the world. the 7 member band is credited for surgeon popularity of cape pop. before going on a hiatus in 2022 b t. s broke ground, bringing tape up to the main stream, topping u. s. and u. k charts, selling at a reno's around the world. and even boosting tourism the for the anniversary bands travel from all over the globe. when we planned
7:23 pm
our trip to korea, we kind of find it around the 10th anniversary, and we're hoping to catch a little bit of everything and just to experience the culture experience of the people who, who loved the details. so much special edition series of stems and bts as honor saw fans and collectors line up at post offices. so even with the band taking a break, bts frenzy is in full swing. and the joining me not from serial is gen list and documentary filmmaker heavy and con, she's reported extensively on cape pump and it's styles this tongue time. yes o b t s. how big of a d e is this and career the it test or not just past grades in south korea. there's something like national here. i was know people adore them,
7:24 pm
and revere them for having promoted crew. brienne music internationally and, and being successful in the us market. and so, you know, if you can imagine there's a visible sense of excitement in just the architectures that the buildings install, where very prominent buildings like the sole city government, to sole power the world cut, bridge, their lit and purple to commemorate this event. and this saturday there was a huge party of fireworks and screenings and a beach. yes. member r m appearing at the 100 river. you've covered the cable for quite some time in your assessment. what is the impact that bts has had on this, on rough music? as i think there is a variety of influences they, they've had, i'm sure they're uses, which have been immensely popular. the way they engage with fans built their world of music and marketing and so on and so forth. have had a huge influence is on artist worldwide,
7:25 pm
but i think specifically on cape pop and the influence they've had on this this brand of music is that they've normalized representation of artists from regions that were called thought to be marginal, especially in the european and american market and the american market is especially thought of as the sort of holy grail in the music market because we have it how it holds such power globally. if you think about the year before, bts be viewed in 2012 size con, i'm style had just become viral on youtube with that same as horse stance, which everyone probably can remember. and that was the time when k pop and music from korea was just beginning in, in little leaks. and i, and you know, rare occurrences beginning to be very successful, internationally in and by internationally. again, i think the us market and so beat us with significant because they were the 1st to
7:26 pm
have had consistent success in the us market where a year after year, the top billboard charts and have continued presence in mainstream media in the us . and that's how this thing goes. a country serving in the ministry, implying the details, as we know it isn't really a group at the moment, but is this just temporarily? are they gonna get back together so to speak up to this mandatory services over so just to give a very brief context about the south korea's technical state of war with north korea, every able bodied south korea man is expected to serve around roughly 2 years of mandatory military service and this is no exception for b t. s. members. and starting at the end of last year to members of bts have already joined the military, gen and j hope. and the rest of the members are likely to start military service around 2023. but there are other uncertainties besides military service. because
7:27 pm
even before the member started going into the military service, last year around summer beach has members announced that they will put group activities on hold for reasons that they weren't. they didn't elaborate into. but, you know, they implied the, the constant stream of activities head straight on their, their, their self as individuals. and there's other uncertainties like they're contract renewal with hyde agency. their company is going to be in 2025, but it's unclear which way that will go. but at least from the company's perspective, will this be temporary, likely. so, and the agency says that the ts will reform again around 2025. i just wanted to ask you a broad spectrum question about the cape pump and why it appeals to so many audiences across so many geographies and cultures. yeah, i mean, this is
7:28 pm
a question that's interesting and also a tricky because i'm always careful to differentiate between why bts is popular around the world and why a pop is popular around the world. the latter, i think, is a much more complicated and broad question because k pop has so many different varieties of personalities in music. and i think in bts as case and in, you know, spans constantly refer to music how the music hit them and how their stories resonated and their growth resonated with the growth of the fans. and i think in a lot of different ways, different k pop groups must appeal to fans through their songs and through their stories. and i and i think also, you know, this is my hypothesis, but i think because of the way the world has been changing, and especially in the us market, consumers are so much more open about receiving different cultures and, and artist from regions other than their own so this opened rather than the change
7:29 pm
in the way people perceive diversity need have made people more receptive to keep pop around the world. relieve a better, but thank you so much for joining us for the very interesting context here young from sarah. thank you so much. thank you. and that does have such a bed as low on our website and as ever you can follow us on facebook and the trip to have it back tomorrow at the same time. we'll see you then by the b, b, y for some drivers. what troy cause the testing out with bmw s $1002.00 times per by who
