10:30 pm
and such repairs are nice, so why, but i want to go back to the idea. like, i don't have any reason. there's no reason, investment thing for me that yeah, believe something that is coming very, very soon on. we don't know when the story in for my renewal. i've only so migraines, wherever they may be, the a kim john own and allow me to put a 1st concert, gather in person and 29 team. now united in their growing international isolation. they are set to meet again, seeking weapons for the war against as western neighbor. russia is looking towards another neighbor, north korea, for support. the by the administration has expressed concern over increased military cooperation between the 2 for us. but more than what russia could get from north korea, observers worry about what north korea to demand from russia and return the call
10:31 pm
for ocean berlin. and this is the day the o. this is penny. russia running shows that i am in the ship right now and having to go to north credit, and i think that comes at the time with groceries increasing the lovely, isolated. and i would say, as well as what we have seen, choose best and not guessing what they need from china. russia 3 d. what's the problem up north korea to create more trouble to demonstrate the excessive wave process.
10:32 pm
also coming up to exit us from the desert, one bath 1000 joints long lines to leave. as the organizers of the burning man festival and nevada finally opened the only road out ahead of the basic time. would i want to do it again for another $34.00 days the save? where is the last 3 for this? never. but we're not in the trenches in the ukraine. we're not in in the refuge account. we are, we're playing a game together and with us walking into the show, or you can choose your neighbors. so you better live with them in peace and harmony . the russian saying sounds awfully cynical in light of wonder where food is war of aggression. honest neighbor, ukraine. there are some neighbors been increasingly isolated. russian leader does seem to be seeking peace and harmony with or at least to arms deals. us officials say north korean leader kim jong will soon travel to russia to meet with fulton at
10:33 pm
the top of the engine. now a potential deal to supply russia with munition for the war and ukraine. the white house has already warned that north korea will pay a price if at supplies russia with weapons. north korea's military mines on full display celebration in july my can be ended the korean war, russian defense minister. so it gave show you store to side by side with the north korean president, the parade in the capital p on yang made a big show of north korea's big spending nucular program. but what russia needs is most simple. ammunition, notably, artillery shells and empty tank missiles, as many as they can get. you officials estimate that russia had spies it around $50000.00 salary shells per day since invading ukraine. international sanctions
10:34 pm
have limited most of those options to replenish its supply. and so it appears to have turned to north korea, the young yang hole, significant quantities of ammunition. so analysts are unsure about the quality of its stuck piles. but north korea can also offer role materials, particularly oh, which rustic can use to ramp up it's own production of shells? another question for you crane's western allies is what russia might give in exchange. in the immediate term, food is a top priority for people in yang years of cobra. deluxe downs and strangling sanctions. have left many north koreans. on the brink of famine, south korea suspects russia has offered to hold the joint. naval drills with china and north korea. a mirror to the annual exercises held between south korea and the united states. but many also see a russia may offer advanced technologies that could be used to the young young's
10:35 pm
new caleb program. a prospect that would violate over a dozen un sanctions. danielle salisbury is an associated fellow at the royal united services institute in the okay, joins me now from oregon in the us. mr. sales. very welcome to the day homework thing is this tightening alliance to you? i mean, it's obviously very concerning. i think concerning for multiple perspectives, so obviously to something for the war and ukraine and the rushes procurement of what is to fuel level. and also from the perspective of those career sections and, and the nonproliferation regime, it looks like that's a part what exactly is putting hoping to get from north korea here. the i'm so as i understand the pretend is most likely shopping for, for weaponry, how to fuel the war. obviously the war is stretching the russian defense industry and rushes to stop miles to the limits. i know, so it's just probably looking to maintain significant stop calls as well for other
10:36 pm
contingencies. and so it's turning to us are kind of a increasing a section upon us that they can rely on folks with technology. but this wouldn't be the 1st time north korea sold arms to be used against ukraine. what? no, no. so we haven't already seen uh sales of the battlefield rocket, some battlefield miss houses. and so i'm going to create the russian private military organization. i'm gonna think we've also seen some sales o homes of artillery shells because we recently saw evidence that the ukranian military forces and catches of these on the battlefield. that russia is in a rather desperate position here. so came young only has a lot of leverage. what is he going to ask for and return? well, he usually has the most career and the regime have means. and this can be things that are as simple as, as a oil of food have been such a wiser,
10:37 pm
but also times logical needs. so i'm, so i please. so there is a risk that russia may assist those career. we solve it arms, i possibly w m d programs as well. so you say uh children will be looking for what technology in return for, for his, his technology that he's, he's wanting to supply that we have to bear in mind that russia is a member of the un security council. and in moscow has back you and sanctions targeting north korea's nuclear program for years. they couldn't this system now stopping the regime from developing an and trading weapons of mass destruction now collapse. yeah. so it is very concerning. um, i think since this 2017, we haven't seen any new sanctions put in place for the security council and we haven't actually seen any entities added to the sanctions. let's see the the sanction system has kind of been on life support for a while. but i think he's russia was to me from being honest, the,
10:38 pm
the kind of alongside china was, was trying to use feet with sections to, to be in our practice where they're in this whole process. you know, that's a real stuff change and, and it's always kind of bringing into the question, the future of human sections more broadly than us has made information about this needing public to dissuade north korea from engaging more closely with russia. do you think this plan is likely to succeed high? i wouldn't be surprised this amazing goes ahead and i'm there. awesome deals either made or seals at amazing. why don't we do here what those deals are, as in the awesome, you know, i, i think if it's a to watch me involve homes and essentially sang some preaching business. i might be kept secret on it, my feet down to the west intelligence agencies who can serve you well, not doing what i say. i don't really think as much to the, the us, i'm less than dollars can do at this point. so if it is to find common ground,
10:39 pm
there is no way of stopping this. this strengthened the lions from going forward to say, i mean, i think one of the, one of the challenging parts of this as well as the shared line border when she could enter a move across all kinds of goods where there's new technology or things like, uh, the, the few other furniture lines or whatever is traded in real time because of the shuttle on board and his brand new people do springs to take the issue. and so all that kind of thing. um so, so yeah, i would say there's probably not much that we can do apart from uh what you learned at this point. that is a bleak outlook. mr. sales. very. thank you so much for your time. thank you. here what says it has uncovered a trafficking ring, recruiting people to find for russia and ukraine. the government of nevada believes nationals living,
10:40 pm
and russia as well as back home are being signed up under false pretences, cuba as a close ally of russia. but after the allegations became known to foreign ministry, felt compelled to stress it is not involved in the war and ukraine and added that authorities are working to dismantle the network. and the statements by the foreign ministry was read out on cuba, national television, and i believe we have that statement for you. let's see if we can bring it up a 10 minute video, the video to that adult, the ministry of the interior detected and is working to neutralize. i'm dismantled of people. the human traffic and networks that operates from russia to incorporate cuban citizens living the and even some from cuba, things to the military forces participation, the military operations, a new crane without seeing, it's mainly guessing it will put on you. attendance of this nature be neutralized thing, criminal proceedings, i mean, initiated against people involved in these activities. nothing born with what of us
10:41 pm
and stuff like that. we'd always speak now. and dr. lewis bice, when he was a professor of sociology at palm beach state college in florida, in the us, is also the co president of the palm beach center for democracy in policy research . and he wrote the book of latin america and the post chavez, the era, the security threat to the united states. dr. flushing, welcome to the day in cuba and russia, have historically been allies. why one? havana air is grievances, so publicly or by the i think a, this is my view. of course i might use that. i know he's trying to do the see. i would say, because i find how to believe that there would be a package network that was open a door to good. cool. what do you, what sort years without the knowledge of the cuban government? so i believe that's right now what they have trying to go east to receive, to basically make believe that they have not support. that's
10:42 pm
a possibility. all right, so what you're saying is that cuba is actively sending cuba nationals to russia or, or how can we interpret what you're saying? well, according to based on this defense which itself yeah, blue book, unique size leaving in my the use the coupon going events e symbol i wouldn't be surprised because there is an entire thread the show way to the given government actually own. do you know, but saw just to fight in different places in napa, the guy you know, going out even in the city during the york in fort worth. but that was many, definitely the company, but it doesn't matter the separate issue. and also it was many big gates ago, that cuban restaurant when i went into going was a, now the scenario research, i'm the scenario that there must be precisely because of both these parties. all right, so you're leaning on his history. but what, what real evidence is there for that when he's really interesting
10:43 pm
because the things here he's, you know, he's very, very, to be because of what the, what the basically formation you get. there is no easy, this one way you won't be out of it. i am, i suppose you all know geez, associate. so you know, just i speak relate that few of us. i so they should be going on the guys, these cannot be held by anybody else except russia, as i'm on the other hand, keeping the conflicting. okay. i'm giving, i'm given the new company the show night won't say that they exist between russia and the united states. russia go that means or both resorted to american enemies. i'm due by stephanie vienna. maybe come handed me one of these, these every team that using the better side of your situation, go to the united states. yes. but the united states are watching cuba as well as
10:44 pm
russia quite closely. don't you think that us intelligence would've picked up on have an outstanding cube and soldiers to fight and ukraine? that's supposed to be the b 5 may or may not, you know, not, not be able to think we know that from 911 and as an example, that the, the, you know, the, the us security services and don't became anything. okay. and don't get be able to think about it on the face or basically the thing that they everything. all right. i think the, i'm very much in the speculation here. but i want to look at the bigger picture with, you know, um, how has this war transformed rushes role in latin america? well 1st, before they even started with these war, i think i need to expand it in eastern europe,
10:45 pm
crash shop. so to expand the like in america, taking advantage of the fact that there were new regina that way, that when you speak to the united states, many so a lot me got out of why for the right. and so these pan continues, seems barely, i would say seems barely 2000 seems particularly since 2010 me. so it is not the 1st time that the brush up, it shows these black, you know, maybe can countries back now more than that, man steven, they want, you know, thing. yeah. and is it just anti american sentiment that that unites these countries though, because that is, that is not really a stable basis for, for meaningful co operation. is it? no, i think it'd be, uh, i'm gonna gather things these categories. i mean these redeem side of the revolutionary ad on many aspects,
10:46 pm
but one of the elements that got expedited is on these redeems east. precisely the needs of the united states these last week the or the social or the state. the that the united states has exploded like you know, many times down to these throughout the they gave me draw the same 5. we have not seen these only among the think of sheep seem like, you know, maybe cause i just need that are when really sway not in cuba, but also a i'm on a country such as but as the end of june payment. okay. but the fax number for the joining breaks. let me jump in there because i, i do want to get back to the war in ukraine. a number of countries in latin america have been reluctant to condemn russia's invasion of ukraine. now, anti american sentiment assigned that as an invasion of an, you know, a sovereign country. um, are they really on russia side here?
10:47 pm
in my view, they yeah, they, yeah. they claim you, bradley d id that you know like, but as the 40 s, as they claim that they want to be mediators to achieve these. but the, these that if you look at the scene about these chords, it'd be clear that he definitely seemed like very sweet. ok, have you 5, he for did say lensky. i'm sick for they may go for these war. even though the air condition came from russia, and so in my opinion, yes, they cite with restaurant even though they don't acknowledge that they wouldn't recommend that they wouldn't acknowledge that. but thank you my opinion, they do site with brush, i guess. right, that was those flash one of the palm beach state college. so many thanks for the burning man festival in nevada is often described as a once in
10:48 pm
a lifetime experience. and this year's edition certainly was unlike any other before. after the deserts turned into a sea of mind, organizers have now reopened the only road leading out of the site, allowing stranded revellers to had home. earlier, heavy rains had converted the desert grounds into a monday bath, leaving 70000 burners, as they call themselves to make the best of the terrible condition. vx it is, was long and tedious as thousands of vehicles sneak their way along this 8 kilometers stretch. desperate to get out of the northern nevada desert and onto the nearest highway. a summer storm had left them stranded heavy rains to turn the ground at the annual counter culture celebration into a sea of mud. the heavens opened up on friday, the rain tore down installations, leading organizers to cancel offense, and institute of driving bad as
10:49 pm
a safety precaution. when the rain came down, we'll just kind of went back to our tents and hung out with each other and waited until it stops. it was incredibly muddy. we had to a lot of us put bags over our shoes or tape them over our feet in order to protect our feet or shoes. but overall, it wasn't bad, nothing bad happened. it was just money. the tired revellers carrying mud covered bags at the nearest airport in reno, offered mixed feelings about this year's event. i had an amazing time. would i want to do it again for another 3 or 4 days to say, where is the last 3 for this? never. but we're not in the trenches in the ukraine. we're not in in the refuge account. we are, we're playing a game together in the desperate i wish that there was a little bit more communication in terms of events like this. the especially for those of us who come knowing we can't get refund. and just knowing that we spent
10:50 pm
a lot of time and money to get out here. the annual burning man celebration attracts tens of thousands of musicians, artists, and activists every year. community and self reliance are among the core principles of the annual gathering values which were very much put to the test at this year's event day protocol. is that the festival and he enjoys this now from austin, texas to share his experience today. you were one of tens of thousands stuck in the month. when did you realize that you were not going to be able to leave as well? it was a, it was a really great experience. i think we realized when start like the bicycle stopped moving in the mud and as people were trying to make their way back to the camp, they would get stuck and then the rain started much quicker and faster and we realized something was probably going to be changing very soon and how did people deal with being trapped in the desert?
10:51 pm
and was there ever a sense of anxiety or, you know, maybe even panic? absolutely. there people, initial thoughts were on my gosh, how are we gonna get home? is the man going to burn? are we going to have as much fun as possible? but i think once people started realizing that resistance was few tile, uh your anxiety and everything went away. and once we came to a moment of acceptance, you're able to really actually enjoy the festival much, much more than how to not have been there. but can you paint the picture, maybe for the people who do not know, burning man and how it functions where you're not scared about running out of supplies before being able to leave, being stuck in the middle of a desert as well. that was actually a very real idea because you have to bring in everything with you. luckily, most people they planned for a few days extra than what they're going to stay there for. and at the time there was a lot of of misinformation we weren't sure if would be 3 or. busy a day we weren't
10:52 pm
sure if it was going to be a week. but luckily everyone banded together and just started sharing, whatever extra things i had for people that who maybe didn't have enough water or doesn't have enough food. and you know, so we're able to share, we've got the resources that we had, especially we had a lot of beer. and as soon as we started passing that out, everything was started really lightning and it became like a lot better. all right. how did you eventually get out because you managed to mean quote unquote escape on sunday. this is where you come in and leave your shoes. yeah, so what happened was once we realized zip low and chris rock were able to hide out to the road. we decided that, you know, what we can do is to and there was a couple of camp maids, a couple of neighbors. i really need to get out. so we put a garbage bags on our feet and we just started fudging away. luckily, before long we were picked up by some of the cars and our views, our already kind of on the outskirts of the apply a so they weren't really stuck in the center of the camp and the people on the
10:53 pm
outskirts we're able to just kind of push through and drive through. luckily we were able to catch a ride all the way back to reno. so we got really lucky actually. you did mess the big highlight though, right? because the festival accommodates with the burning of the man. having gotten out on sunday, were you a bit disappointed or were you happy that you managed to get out when you, when you didn't manage to as well. and you know, i really need to get back from my daughter's birthday, which was today. so happy birthday sophia, but what happened was, uh, once we got out, we realize that you know, that this period was still on. we still have friends that we were able to communicate with inside of the burning that event. i was able to watch it on the live stream luckily. and also i was listening to the b m i r radio. so it kind of felt like you were still there supporting each other. and also we were able to just kind of talk about our experiences and help people understand what was going on is going to be okay,
10:54 pm
you'll be able to get out soon enough. so just enjoy the ride while you're there. it sounds all very positive, but there must have been some things that you know, you didn't missed when you got out. oh, i mean, it was definitely, uh the, there was a sense of relief in the same day. there's other lows and other highs. people are breaking down left and right. so there's, there's this sense of community and that's really what the beauty beauty of it is that it really brings together humanity in a way where if people are down, there's other people to lift them up and really kind of highlights the fact that love is greater than sir, and in those scenarios, despite all the things happening in the world, humanity can still band together and get through any kind of adversity. there was part of it have shot in front of the online about you guys getting stuck in the desert. how did you feel about that? uh well, uh, i actually didn't mind it. i thought, you know,
10:55 pm
as long as they start the air dropping and of the water and mollie, you know, we might make it up. okay, but i'm not sure shit. i'm just joking. but yeah, it was fun, it was good. i think it was. um, there's no, there's a lot of people that are upset. but once you realize that, hey, you're stuck here and there's nothing you can do about it. you really just need to kind of like make the best of a bad situation and the end up being an amazing situation really at the end. we don't have too much time, but maybe a yes or no. will you be going back next year? oh, only if it rains only if it rains when i go back. all right, those days are gone. thank you so much for sharing your experience. thank you. thank you so much guess as i was there a time, but make sure to stay in touch. you can follow our team on x, formerly known as twitter. you'll find those under apps. it will be news and myself at nicole underscore for this is the latest headlines you're looking for. there is
