a comprehensive defeats of the ethnic are meaningful says they believe that this is now the opportunity to create this land card. all that will link to key directly. we've also by john this has always been a goal of those 2 leaders. they have very strong economic as well as ministry ties and aligned card always seeing it's a key priority of strategic goal of these 2 countries. now that line card a will go through on media and that is a potential flash point to you. i mean, it has being very opposed to the idea of creating such a car adult which would see on most of the territory potentially bought to uh to one analia believe that they do have the ascendancy here. and this is a time to push through these key strategic all these countries. but then also this will bring concerns of further the stabilization iran, which is also neighboring this region. we seen that to be very opposed to such an expansion of turkish as airy influence in this region. and that can bring the point of the tensions in this region at the time when the leaves are talking about

a time of stability. that was during the josie reporting from the stand bolt, the chairs military rulers are welcoming and announcement by france that it will withdrawal its troops from the country. the shares democratically elected president mohammed by zoom was allocated back in july. he was replaced by the commander of in the lead to military units. and that process also ended new shares, military cooperation with france, which is the country's former colonial power, which present emanuel macro and says that $1500.00 french soldiers currently stationed in this year will lead by the end of this year. that sort of delete the initiative, the only legitimate leader of new jersey is present the zoo mix was elected by his people with that he's over here. so today he's being held hostage if i skip the victim of this crew because he wasn't gonna break for phones because there's ethnic score cycling going on. this is almost, there's a lot of political cowardice that the honda,

it's why francis decided to bring it back to the several different months back to friends and that's all full of holes. we're putting an end to a miniature corporation with a car, and these are with ortiz of it because i don't want to fight terrorism anymore. like the delta i've, when y'all, i'm joined by and chris again, mo, data, the associate editor for world politics review in city goals. capital the card because it's good to have you with this. there have been rising tensions in this year in the past few weeks with new jerry is insisting that french troops get out of the country. me. why do these areas? why do they want to see this withdrawal? if the troops were there to help with the security situation and the threat against illness, terrorism, seeing the answer, the question is that many jerry and simply do not believe any longer, that the presence on frank troops necessarily contributes to the dentist security
9:08 pm
team there. coaching, you know, there's been a lot of in the last couple of years for the most. so on the president bassoon, who stepped up security relations that with the west, with friends in particular, there's been many concerns in the shed. that's the presence of frank troops on the soil that since last year when frank troops, we drew from neighboring modeling. many the jerry and simply saw that as a compromise on the sovereignty. and that the fact that it's, of course, the relationship to the new dates all the way back to the balloon era. many of them seem to be so a does to bound up in many elements of an equal partnership that they simply do not want anymore of. and i'm just wondering, chris is the, the average person in new share? what do they consider to be a greater threat to their security, the presence of french troops in the country? or, you know, this growing is list insurgents as well. i mean,
9:09 pm
it's for one thing, it's very hard to speak for the average person in new jersey. it's a large country, uh its, uh, people have very many different views, some of which, you know, most of which are new one, some of which seem like they're contradictory. but when you, when it's done to politics, they and many would reject the premise of the question that needs really as a sign to re, you know, because they would argue that there it bunch of structural conditions that we created by the colonial legacy, between friends and the chair that's have expose them so that themselves indeed security crisis in the jan to neighbor region. so for many folks, not just in the me, but broadly across the country. they see due to things as they so they don't quite see, doesn't either or purposes of shuttle do you want the french president? so what do you, what did you hide? is the thing to, to, as a think in a variety of ways, some of which, you know, can be contested, but some of which definitely do you have, do, you know,
9:10 pm
historical out in the beginnings, we're seeing french troops withdrawing from the entire health region, including molly burkina faso, it can we say, then that is one, this terrorism will most likely, or at least the right of it will increase. now, with these, these peacekeeping forces go on or does that get back to this binary situation you are describing? well, i should point out that frank troops, us doing chat with charlie sydney this i help, there is no discussion of what will come next there as well. there's, you know, there's no telling what will happen this, but more to do to the question you're asking. i think for many in not just in the share but across the region. there is a sense of which as they recognize the difficulties that i'd like you to come up with the, to divide your frank troops. but at the same time,
9:11 pm
they do points out that with the presence of frank troops, the security didn't get bid. so at the end of the what have they really didn't. and we, in terms of the partnership with friends, i have this is an opportunity for local that regional labs, security and political. it leads to finding these things very deeply, not just about to secure, just jump with more broadly about building purpose feedback and secure lives that bring more prosperity to people. chris, more data from the world politics review in stock are critical to have you. but this, thank you. thank you. all right, here is a round of bill of news headlines from around the world. the ruling honda in molly says that it will delay a presidential election originally scheduled for february. the vote was aimed at ending bank power to elected civilians. a spokesman for the hunter said that the postponement is due to technical problems. authorities are also refusing to hold

answered the call to help in the war, the international legion is made up of foreign troops who fight and alongside ukrainian soldiers dw mathias bellinger met legionnaires. returning from the front, y target practice keeping skills sharp while away from the front line, wrist resupplied, and the be to for looks ation. the international legion has been part of the ukranian army since the beginning of russia's full scale invasion. we address the symbol unit, normal units, just come forward and us and to live together with the opinions. bucks, yvonne have 2 years experience in the gym and ami came to ukraine just weeks after the war started. and then the never followed. that would be a one year old again, so i didn't really have better things to do back home. that can, let's say

a boring job, one of the people in the us and then scales. so come here 3 days into the war, the ukrainian president quoted for friends of peace and democracy to help defend this country. it was a message that had ho finish, volunteer call, sign corporate. it's kind of stuck with me about the europe didn't do enough. and i remember when you had the would be a good one. and so i was like, well at least i can do that. a hobby, it was referring to the finnow soviet was the 19th, thirty's many spring. the nations, historical experience with plenty is from more than 60 countries, have taken up arms on behalf of decree. some only stay for a few weeks on month. they fight side by side with the ukrainians. but international fight is going to leave and go home if they want to. that makes
9:15 pm
a difference, says caleb, the list when you go to, are you trying to you? did you notice like, the whole place is plain? um they have uh they have people who cook and just set up and it's nice. so like when you come off of mission it's, it's, it's the place is nice and spotless with the legion because the new and people like, you know, new people they and because people leave and come back they, they re make a lot of mistakes or places on the dirty, it's not as well organized to leave stuff behind. caleb list is from australia. he has no military experience when he joined up a year ago. but his now the platoon come on he says he was about to join the french foreign legion when russia evaded to crate. so he changed class adventure. he says was part of his motivation. i want to test myself. i want to say like, again,
9:16 pm
i want to be extreme. so i came here with the same motivation and basically done that. and now i just, i just do this. that's the only thing i'm really good at here away from the front. things are a bit more relaxed the legion has been fighting under ukrainian, come onto the hockey for offensive, and towards boston. although hobbit has his own only half joking description of the most important contribution to the one. the diode it gets wounded that when a couple of months, so the rest the keeps having you put in the headlines. so i'm giving support. i mean we, we don't intend to to do it, but i think and then it turns out to be that,
9:17 pm
how do you say because impacts you kind of assuming they don't make that kind of impact all 3 men say they have no plans to return to normal civilian life and disturbing report there. let's go now to daniel by him and he's a professor in the school. the ford service at georgetown university is also the author of the book road warriors for him fighters and the armies of jihad. he joins us tonight from washington. is good to have you with this. you written of a foreign fighters that and i'm quoting here, most end up as cannon fodder i. i assume they don't go into the fighting. thinking that that's going to happen to them is how can so many be so wrong? so when we think about people who are going to fight, of course, the understandably often see themselves as heroes. and the people you profiled are
9:18 pm
a good examples where someone come in with considerable military experience and some come in with non whatsoever and many of those where they are who have no experience who only fight for a short time in past conflicts. they're often thrust into the breach, and as a result, end up dying in large numbers. what we've seen now when you claim that was quite different, where people have often been there for months or even over a year. and those who remain are really in up almost are waiting, incense are skilled fighters where they have a lot of experience and are able to fight quite effectively. so the additional rush of volunteers often involves a lot of casualties. but subsequent fighters tend to be more experienced and skilled. yeah, i mean the story we just saw, you get the impression that many or maybe lost souls when they do actually go to battle. you have cautioned against the reliance on foreign fighters,
9:19 pm
y 4 and fighters often come with a lot of motivations that don't have much to do with the day to day struggle for, in this case, the ukrainians or others involved. but sometimes they're there for adventure. and when the fighting guys down they, they still want to fight sometimes their own views and work street than those of local fighters. and as a result, they'll do atrocities or otherwise be more violent. the key is really integrating them in a disciplined way into the armed forces of the country. and the acquaintance of done that with a considerable degree of success with some of the worst predictions people had about 4 and 5 years at the onset of the war had not come true. it is 0. we know that there are russian citizens in the ukrainian for in legion. i mean, what do we know about these people? so this is often referred to as the russian volunteer group. and some of the
9:20 pm
russians fighting there are, if you will, they see themselves as dissidents. from the russian system, but some have so far, right tendency, some are white supremacists or do you not to use it? so it's a mix of individuals. and many of these people have actually been quite effective and doing cross border operations, interaction itself for obvious reasons. they can blend in very effectively, but at the same time, there was a turner sheet of ukraine's cause these ideologies up to the at least some of these people are quite extreme. and it lends credence to the russian propaganda that the cleaning government is controlled by nazis. and even though that's patently false, even having a few of these individuals at high profile operations contributes to that misperception visitor daniel binding with the school of foreign service at george send university profess. we appreciate your time in your analysis and i thank you.

thank you. well, it was the dispute that brought hollywood to a standstill. writers of tv series talk shows and movies they stopped working about 5 months ago. they are demanding better pay and conditions and protection from the use of artificial intelligence. well, now they've reached a tentative agreement with their studio bosses, but cameras will not, not start rolling again straight away. thousands of actors are still in dispute with the big studios, close to a done deal. one that union negotiate to say contains quote, meaningful games and protections for writers. not much more has been revealed about the tentative agreement that has been struck between the writer's guild and film and television studios is finalized. it could bring an end to a stalemate that has practically ground hollywood to

a halt. for nearly 5 months, right, isn't creators took to the streets, cooling for best to pay rules on the number of writing stuff employed on shows and invitations on the use of us, official intelligence and the writing process. every day there's some new story about a i and there's no doubt that those services will continue to improve. and right now as some of our members call them, they're plagiarism machines and they have no business in the writing of scripts. but this deal wouldn't mean production in hollywood can redeem immediately suck astra a union rep. present some, 850000 actors also began strike action on july 14th and they have not to yet reach to deal with gta bosses. some famous faces have shown disappear. for the cause,
9:23 pm
the, our industry is a $160000.00 actors for instance. and they're struggling to make a living just to just to, you know, to eat. so and, and they weren't. and many of them were making a very decent living before doing the exact same job. so it's right to stand up active and making some similar demands to the writers, especially on the issue of a copyright. so there is hopes that they will be a full resolution soon and the hollywood can get back to work. you know, they've been out of work for a long time. now let's get to jason, kevin, tony, a. he is the los angeles bureau chief of nbc news radio and he said it's good to see you. the writers union is calling this unexceptional deal, but we really don't have many details. and i'm assuming that though all of the boxes have been to, is that true email, that's what we're hearing,
9:24 pm
that there's been some major developments behind the scenes. and i'm sure that they don't want to release the details of this deal as not this way. public opinion or sway voting members of the va and the writers guild of america. that deal, that is been tentatively reached. they're still formalizing some of the legal language to make sure that everybody is getting what they are. we're promising all of that. and once that deal is voted on and approved by the va board members, then we'll find out some of the deals about like a i, and how many people can work on it show. and how many writers need to be employed on a show of whatever magnitude? i say it's going to be interesting to see who gave up what in the long run. yeah, and i mean, this is really the 1st big industrial action we have seen. where a i is, is an issue and disagreement. it's going to be one of the 1st
9:25 pm
a i agreements that have been reached. that is unprecedented. the we know though, when the writers are actually going to be able to do what humans do and, and get back to, to work. you know, we're not exactly sure on that right now. what we do know is that the writers guild has the edge, the picketing. the striking will stop right now. we will not go out to the hollywood studios with their signs and add people on their horns and call attention to the issue. but you're right, this is going to be one of the biggest a deals and you know, it's going to be one of them. the more evolved language when it comes down to what a i is. because if you go to chad g to be g t p or whatever it is, go to one of those a i apps and you say write me a rom. com, about a man and a woman who met when they were kids. and having seen each other in 30 years,
9:26 pm
they're going to write a movie script that are basically the hallmark channel of movies. yeah. and it's very easy to, to duplicate. and so it puts a lot of these people who are already struggling out of work. i got about 20 seconds please. let me just ask you what. what does this mean for the, the actors strike? i would be really surprised if the actors don't come to an agreement fairly soon. you've got the writers back now. looks good. the actors back and a lot of the same issues with the writers guild, the actors have as well a i being the biggest one in residuals being another. so i'm sure the disagreement will come fairly soon. okay. yeah. well, why in the world, but we're certainly be waiting to find out if there is a devil in the details, especially with a i. jason kept it only l. a bureau chief with nbc news right here. jason, thank you. thank you. are you watching the the, the news live from berlin? i'll be back at the top of the hour with marble news followed by the day i hope to
