a u. s. presidential buys and has reiterated his country's unwavering support for israel. he said that support was rock solid and that's talks well underway with. is there any government to provide military aid? a saw the full stop to see why this would do him and he has type in security a to do is installations and responds to the attack. it also lets off the brandenburg gates and berlin with the color. so the is what any flag and what is called an act of solidarity. the is really impass of the fact to germany for what he said was a beautiful, simple german foreign minister on an available cast,
11:16 am
condemned to the assault on israel and said that was a risk, the conflict. you could spread these out talk if i knew the day is a war to shed. i'm one of the president of escalation by how much do you, how much is a trouble as a result of these terrorist attacks, there is no being comfortable danger of being original. escalation 9 is cut out soon is trying to off. i can only warn dot in the strongest terms against all those joining in this era. and she's and we're now going back to a husband, but lucia journalist based in gas joining us on the line. just checking awesome. can you hear me? yes, i can. wonderful. we can hear you so high. so again, the is really prime minister, has one civilians in gaza to get out and also stay away from from us, the military buildings and sites. how is that procedure by the population?
11:17 am
where do they go, come they get away. this is the big question actually goes a is a small area. it's still very good. related to we are talking about $2200000.00 people ation of dollars trip. it's not divided into places like this is not or bits is not uh it's, it's, uh, 8, it's very hard. we're talking about like whether it's public places like police has patients or how much training sykes needs fit within that to intervene. it's been to find areas, so even the building that you know, some offices that as well is claiming this is affiliated with him. as for other factions, it's within said lilian buildings. and so we kind of differentiate and, and some people sled their houses and went to uh on the schools as a ship taking it as a shape as it showed to. but um, i mean still some areas near it where targeted uh,
11:18 am
what about the situation uh, in general is reassessed, but it will stop supplying electricity, fuel and goods to gaza. how people expected to cope with his blockade? well, this is very hard. it's not that located in both on guys for more than 15 years in the every use that was very time. it would be disaster in, in the, in a short time. the is, is controlled and field ad for a long time and then an actual amount of fluids are allowed. do i do, you will need for daily basis for short period medical stuff despite. ready rules are provided like and so can these is and so for now i think it's, it's available, but if it took very long, so i think it will be disaster. now there is no electricity and all that out 4
11:19 am
hours a day and it cannot continue. ready 6 x random sometimes comes and goes into that. i have no internet to be honest and it's, it's down since yesterday and there were some air strikes targeted and the sweet lines or for the internet it's connect disconnected in most. ready places in the oldest red, most of the stores all shop and the supplies is very limited. people are moving very, very carefully and for them for said we've only so it would be very hard if that was implemented. and of course we, we keep hearing about the new figures with regards to casualties. the number keeps rising, to what extent are civilians they are getting close up in cross file or? well, according to the mean issue of sale like us over sweden's,
11:20 am
i actually this number was 315 with killed. they don't differentiate what goes like come back and or civilians, but in clothing that children and women which we assume that they are civilian. and so it's, it's not easy now to say sort of in and who's not. but different actually there are many civilians like children and this all right to gentlest huffman pollutions that in gaza for us. uh, thank you so much. awesome. i don't now by richard walker dw, so tease international correspondent who joins me here in the studio and richards. you can bring us up to speed on of the broad international aspect to that story, the united nations security council meeting of the special session today. in order obviously to, to discuss the, the home us attacks on israel. how much support can, is really expect the yeah, well, it's been interesting to look at the statements that have been coming out of the
11:21 am
relative of the relevant big players in the un security council. you've already mentioned, of course, the united states and uh, very clearly condemning this. and i think we can expect that also that from the of the west and permanent members of the security council, the british and the french who have both come out with very explicit statement and condemnation with how much is attacks. and expressions has full authority with israel. what's going to be quite interesting, i think, just to see, to see exactly how the russians and the chinese, the other really major powers, obviously within the security council and how they present depositions and the statements that have come out from their respective farm industries have been quite interesting to look at and to compare with the statements that we've had to have from the west. because you don't have the same unequivocal statements of support for israel, for instance, both of them talk about the levels of concern but, but they quickly move on to saying that that needs to be movement and progress on
11:22 am
finding a 2 state solution. so the chinese farm industry, for instance, a saying that this conflict shows that the protracted standstill of the peace process cannot go on. the russian statement saying something similar ending to in fact accusing the west of blocking progress in what was called the middle east quartet format. which has been going on for a couple of years since the ukraine will. so. so i think quite different positions from china and russia is that and of course set matches because it's not just the united states and the west that, that are important place in the middle east of, from outside, the middle east. that is increasingly china and russia, very important in terms of the relationships, particularly with, with syria and just neighboring a israel angels. so iran, of course, and iran, we've maybe talk about that in a moment. a key, plaza, russia, and china increasingly close to iraq. but, but,
11:23 am
but you just mentioned something we'll definitely get to you on uh, but uh you just said something about, you know, all the players from the outside. yeah. and closer to israel, of course, is the entire arab world. yes. you'd like to how exposed is israel? yeah, yeah. what israel's position within the middle east has in fact being improving and this is partly with the help of the americans. but, but um, israel has been able to normalize relations with, with a series of countries in the middle east, for instance, the united arab emirates and by rain. and it's been a lot of speculation recently and a lot of effort put into hopes that is real me from being able to normalize relationships in diplomatic relations with saudi arabia, which would be huge milestones, had you right bill to see if i recall that everybody likes that yeah, not everybody obviously likes that, and i think it's, it's being interpreted as one of the reasons why, how much may have gone to this now is that they want to scope of that process. they want to say to the saudis, yukon, normalize relations with these rel,
11:24 am
while we're still suffering here. and i think it also reveals that, that the israel is hopes that he could sort of compartmentalize the, the palestinian issue. i move to try to move on to, to have normal relations with his neighbors. it's going to be more difficult than they sold. and that how much still has the ability to really torpedo that process. so when we talk about everybody likes the idea of how does iran come into all of that because it's usually left right and center that somehow they do play a role. yeah. as well as as well. yeah. so i mean, the problem is a key back of how the last will so of his beloved the millicent fruit that is based in lebanon to the north, which has already loved some missiles towards israel during the course of the morning today to beats. obviously there's a lot of concern about what happens if his belie gets involved in this if iran is showing to have had a really key role in facilitating this attack, then it's very likely that is relevant to retaliate against iran in some way. at
11:25 am
that, of course, will make the situation potentially even more escalate 3 to the situation, could get even more dangerous. and i think that also throws the spotlight back onto russia and china as countries that have more influence with around and say the americans left to the relations between the americans and run have been in a periods of protracted prices for many years. so a very complicated situation here, and we may be just at the beginning of a will to that really becomes lexi and potentially could spill beyond. israel support is that, of course, or in an already quite depends the political situation. uh, you know, be with richard walker. as always, thank you so much. i us and we have time to go back one more time to august bonded to rebecca richards, who is standing by for us outside of asking them that's close to the gases for rebecca. what we've heard about the hostages is really hostages,
11:26 am
that were taken by hum us, but we know very little about them. is there anything more that you can tell us? now we would already seen reports and video searching id yesterday morning because it's rainy hostages, both civilian and military hostages being taken back into guns and that has been confirmed body is riley military. this morning i was speaking to the military. they have not been able to give anything in terms of numbers, they are not ready to release any kind of figure. whether that's because they still need to ascertain what that figure might be or whether more customers are being taken, or whether they need to speak with family, nor to 5. determine who the people are that are being held hostage, but they're not willing to release those numbers. yet they all talking about potentially thousands we hear and by the videos that we saw circulating yesterday. it certainly appears that that might be the case. there are reports of thousands of soldiers in captivity and also civilians, elderly children,
11:27 am
as well as bodies and corpses. now i don't know whether you can he behind me, but not far from the gauze border, and we can occasionally hear and see striking in there. and there is also what it, what a sounds to be a tell a refund coming from the coast, which is not fall behind me to my left the so the, the, the military operation happening in guns a very much so ongoing things here where i'm standing and getting a little bit more time. so as i mentioned before we've, we saw a number of military vehicles and military personnel, hair up this road to an area. so the news from where we're standing, where this appears to be street fighting happening, or a pace to be that they're searching for more partners in that area. going showing the end of this room, it military still doesn't have this on is under control. it still doesn't know exactly how many militants have broken through the guns and boat, whether they're in fact even still able to make entries even from the border into into is right in territory. but street fighting is still continuing and things
11:28 am
attempt to shortly. we're going to have to move because of the military and the police behind us, a worry that that's but the fighting is going to spill out here. so your situation here in the south, still incredibly tens. monica? well rebecca, then please make sure that you are safe for dw corresponded with it could reach us that reporting from ashley cologne near the gas a split. thank you. and find any more than 2000 people have been killed in a series of s quakes in west and i've got to stand these. all the deputy is timeless to hit the country and use the tale. bonds say at least 9000 more have been injured. several villages of the province of high roads have been completely destroyed. emergency workers are continuing to look for survivors. and that's all from us for now, for me and the team here in the land. thanks for watching the
