the, the, you're watching the, the news coming to live from berlin. israel says it will allow a to from got into garza from egypt. us president joe biden pushed for the concession during your visit to tell of the fight, and also urged, is riley's not to be consumed with rage overhead losses. terror attacks. the palestinian health authorities as an explosion at a hospital and gaza killed nearly 500 people. i'm off to blame and there's really air strikes israel on the west side. the evidence points for rocket misfired by another palestinian group, the

clare richardson, welcome. the united states president joe biden says, israel says it will allow humanitarian aid into gaza from egypt bite and pressed for a deal during the visit to tel aviv wrapping up talks of prime minister benjamin netanyahu . bite and warrant is re lease not to be consumed with rage over the homos, tara tax. the out of the united states would do everything it could to ensure, as well as safe and warrant other countries not to launch attack surface pays for most biden's plants to hold talks with the arab leaders and jordan have now been cancelled in the aftermath of the explosion, he reiterated the united states commitment to supporting israel october 7th, which was sacred due a sacred jewish holiday became the deadliest day for the jewish people since the holocaust. this is brought to the surface painful memories. the scars let by
6:02 pm
millennia of anti semitism, the genocide, how the jewish people, the world watch, then it new and the world did nothing. we will not stand by and do nothing again. not today, not tomorrow, not ever. and before that trip, the white house that the buy in was traveling to tel aviv with hard questions for the israeli prime minister. i asked you, they'll be use washington bureau chief in his pole to explain whether that in fact happens. yeah, well you know, us policy has always been to support israel regardless, regardless which party actually is in the lead. so, and also the us doesn't recognize the state of palestine just to give a little bit of a context here. this trip is meant to ensure that the state of israel is still supported by the us government and the administration. it would be
6:03 pm
a complete $184.00 united states president to really start interrogate the israeli government. yeah, and it's also interesting that buy it and, and that, and yahoo are known to have something of a rocky relationship themselves. is that going to put a limit on what biden is able to achieve their, on his diplomatic mission as well? by doing, as many western leaders actually is trying to thread the needle in the us response to israel, a military campaign. the democrats, this is biden's policy, are really divided over the israeli offense and gaza, especially after the hospitals tried yesterday, which killed hundreds of innocent people as you just mentioned. and in this regard, it is really important advice and said that israel would not be behind, but definitely the last according to information he of the u. s. president is
6:04 pm
receiving. but you know, as we just heard in his speech, he underlined the commitment to standards is right in saying you are not alone. but he also talked about the mistakes us made off to the $911.00. this is an analogy which is actually often used these days. he aust, israel not to be consumed by rage and followed the rule of law. yeah, i think it's fair to say that the united states influence in the region has been massively diminished in the wake of 911 and its subsequent war on terrorism. how much can abide and realistically hope to achieve with this visit to thank as well as the president biden. uh, there are limits to what you can do. the us itself doesn't have an appetite to try and controlled parts of the middle east, like it did during the early years of the bush administration biden, who asked me effectively, elizabeth thrall from of gone this done, which we know hated slot has no interesting in being involved in another war and
6:05 pm
the days of this military hawks actually seemed really to be in the past. and even within the republican polity, we see trends towards more nation, this nationalistic tendency. so the role fight and, and the u. s. place and the region it does seem to be really changing. he wants to be rob, or someone who is able to help catering a piece deal of and being actively involved in another war. thank you so much for that. that is due to these washington bureau chief in this paul, i would like to welcome into the studio. he dos stein back, who's a senior fellow at the german institute for international and security affairs. welcome. thank you for taking the time to speak with us and following the explosion at this hospital, the leaders of egypt and jordan, and the policy and present my who to boss, have called off a plan summit with us president biden. what would they have been discussing?
6:06 pm
and what will, by them be missing out on here now that this is not happening? i don't think he's miss missing a lot simply because the, the, the, the may major development are the talks between president biden and annette on you all government president biden. and who's defense minister lloyd austin, have already called for restraint, and they have told the israelis to think hard about what happens after these rallies go into the gaza strip. and i think that is the most important question. what do these rallies do after the americans have have told them? well, perhaps it might not be such a wise idea to reoccupied the gaza strip. president a boss and the leaders of jordan and egypt are not really the most important personalities in the field right now. this is about bite in net on yahoo and from
6:07 pm
us. so what options are on the table for israel with this pressure from biden's suggesting that it would not be a good idea for them to re occupied the gaza strip? no good options i, i think. but it's extremely important that these rarely governments government thinks this true because they, they might have only 2 options if they really go into the cause a gaza strip. if they reoccupied, they have to think about the day the best with ends. and as it seems, been that time, yahoo government hasn't thought about that yet, but they would have either to reoccupied the gaza strip with is rarely route or send send in. the security forces of the palestinian authority, both options and not really options. so i have no clue what the israelis i'm planning to do. so looking at the humanitarian situation in the gaza strip right now, there's so many people rushing toward that russell border crossing,
6:08 pm
hoping to leave to cross and to egypt when it opens. and yet both egypt and jordan have refused to taken refugees from god. so can you explain to us what, what their thinking is, what is behind their decisions? where the neighboring states always like to instrument the total to use to instrumental lies the palestinians, but they don't really like them. they think they tend to think of them as a security threat. i think that's somewhat understandable in their country like jordan, wherever about 70 percent of the population is of palestinian origin. in the case of egypt, i think that's a little bit exaggerated, but it is understandable simply because they fear that those palestinians who leave the gaza strip now might not be allowed back in after after the war. and they want to avoid such a situation and the end result of cause is immense suffering on the other side of
6:09 pm
the concept board. but what do you mean by not let back in? is it that they would not seek to return, or that most would prevent them from returning to because of strep? no, i think the, the, they are thinking about the scenario in which israel would re occupied the gaza strip a number of colors with palestinian who is in egypt and would not be allowed back into the gaza strip. i mean, this is what happened in the neighboring states of to 48 and 67. i see. yes. now i will want to come to the explosion at that hospital in gaza. president biden, today has said he has seen data from the department of defense suggesting that the explosion of the hospital was not from israel. if this is proven to be true and it is indeed from another palestinian, the wasn't group as israel is claiming, with this change support for a mos within the gaza strip. i don't think so. i of course, believe that of the president biden has been so, so open about this, this topic i,
6:10 pm
i simply believe these are at least right now, but it doesn't make any difference. the citizens of guys, many arabs, many muslims, always believe that it's the is rarely site that is committing crimes. and we have seen that already even the, even the governments don't believe the americans. and these riley's a fight that's all we have time for. but thank you so much for sharing your insights. that is, you don't shine but middle east analyst, we really appreciate your time because of how most run health ministry now says 471. people were killed in that explosion at a hospital in the territory. almost as we said is blaming and is really airstrike and israel and u. s. presidential bite and both. now see that a rocket and this fired by palestinian militants was what was responsible though. neither claim has been independently verified. this is where the sick are supposed to be healed. instead of the arab hospital
6:11 pm
in guns, the city has become the latest casualty. in a conflict, it's costing so many lives. hundreds died in this attack. here we would just sitting here and suddenly there was an explosion. the last shot dead on us. many people look is, or many of those cool shopping, the last, what palestinians who'd been seeking refuge haven't mccadney, literally section on the display as well as a safe haven for women. and children who fled is really selling near the hospital bubble on the market. they saw this place as a refuge for them to feel safe and secure. definitely not a young brother most. there was no advanced warning before targeting and the hospital for them. however, they sent us a lot. there were more than 3000 people. you can have an mca him displeased was
6:12 pm
a safe haven. the terrorist group home us, which rules garza lamed israel for the attack and she is route protests have been held across the palestinian territories, including in the city of ramallah, in the westbank no craters. these are that could be as riley army says, it has proved the attack was carried out by another palestinian militant group is law make jihad and that israel is being on sadly blamed air to ground meeting. it was at the time that 6 59 pm. when the reports open, that explosion is the highly in my dining hosp. the in got the seats according to our intelligence from us, check the report on this to this wasn't his stomach just broke it. so this has misfired and decided to launch
6:13 pm
a global media campaign. to hide what really happened. dawson's meanwhile on left to pick up the pieces from the night before. knowing this conflict is fall from ofa. john carlo fiorella is the director of research and training at boeing, kept an organization specializing in fact, checking an open source intelligence. i asked him earlier whether such research could help us stablish what happened at that hospital in gaza city. thanks for having me on. um yeah, i would say so. we've done that in the past and other high profile events. but of course, all of that is dependent on the availability of evidence. so throughout the day today, we've been looking at open source videos and pictures coming out of the complex. looking precisely to do that, to clarify the situation and try to determine exactly what it is that happened.
6:14 pm
it's such a polarizing issue with a motion to be running high on both sides. have you been able to find enough evidence to allow you to do that kind of analysis up until this moment we have it, it's something that we're working on. and as i said, we've been working on it since this morning and we're continuing to work in addition to this afternoon. but at the moment we haven't found any conclusive evidence. i can point the finger in one direction or another. and as i've mentioned, any, anyone who's been on social media in the last few days has probably come across some really deeply disturbing images claiming to show atrocities. there is clearly, in addition to being a war here, a war of information for viewers watching at home. what would you tell them about how they can assess whether information that they're seeing online is reliable? what i would tell people watching is that the 1st step to being able to assess the
6:15 pm
information that they're seeing online is to slow down. when we see something that is shocking, something that upsets us like a video, allegedly from something like a, an air strike, or some other atrocity that affects us emotionally. we feel outraged, we might feel angry, and that emotion can lead us to not think critically and hit the retreat button in your head like reflectively and share what might turn out to be this information. and so the 1st step to consuming social media in an event like this is to really deliberately slow down and not reflexively share content, but rather take the time to ask critical questions about who is sharing it. with this account is this somebody who can speak from experience arrest already on the subject and, and more and more critical questions. and is there anything in particular about this conflict with people should keep in mind when they are assessing information that they find on social media. i would say, anecdotally, my experience uh,
6:16 pm
you know, covering this online since i began to unfold about a week and a half ago. i said there was a lot of content and it's quite strong. both the quantity of it is apparent is seemingly overwhelming, but also the graphic nature of it is really strong as well. and so i would advise anybody who's looking to get information on this conflict on social media to really be mindful of that, that you're likely to come into contact with potentially traumatic content. and again to, to, to resist the urge to automatically share content based on emotion, but rather to slow down and to think critically about the information that you're seeing online. so it's disturbing. it's graphic, there's plenty of misinformation out there. um, we've also written about actors were intentionally spreading this information, who is doing this and why at the moment we haven't published any
6:17 pm
investigation into that. but you know, i can tell you from our previous experience and, and other conflicts and other information environments online. that there is a wide range of actors who take advantage of social media platforms to spread this information. and these can include militaries that can include national governments and they can include organizations or just individuals. and so while we haven't conducted any in depth investigation into this particular um conflict regarding this topic, i would suspect that we'd likely to see something similar, a wide range of actors engaging in this information practices for all kinds of different reasons. and very important to keep in mind to thank you so much for joining us. that is that sean carlos or i left from belin pat. thank you. or as i've heard the carnage as the cause of hospitals, of course, inflamed emotions in many parts of the world, protests interrupted across the middle east and world leaders are calling for
6:18 pm
accountability the fusion with the explosion that the only other possibility indoors and protests are taking place in libyan gym and and they were on, among others all of our demands are addressed to era leaders, not to the west. we don't want half of solutions or half speeches like we condemned . we did now. we are asking them to break off relations with a zionist enemy with all of the other was so he was the finest pinion people did not commit the crime. they don't want anything. it stared. who is the most militant group home us claims the hospital was hit by and it's really a strike. it's around so he's a did not carry out an attack on the hospital. it's a is a rock, it was misfired, but another palace didn't group is not meet. you held loosely as the blame game goes on the those around the world
6:19 pm
a condemning the blast for $45.00 by the hand. that is what people do. it's all holy or speech, all these same day you guys by us that i that i strongly condemned. earlier today, i called for an immediate, too many tendencies fires. there is no excuse for hitting a hospital full of civilians. all effects need to be established and those responsible must be held accountable. us and this tragic our, we must, all, we double our efforts to protect civilians from the fury of this war. many people around the world wants those civilians to be protected. the hospital last is also sputtering demonstrations fall from the middle east, including in the united states, in columbia. and in the philippines.

or egypt is a key to humanitarian aid for gaza with the israeli border close. the only other way in and out of the territory is the roof of border crossing with egypt. egyptian government says it was forced to close out porker because of his really air strikes on the other side and trucks carrying aid are waiting near the border to cross, but it is still unclear when they'll be able to neva, it's a gaza and is rather egypt holds the strategic and historical place and the conflict cairo opposed to the formation of these riley 1948 and the 2 states. of course, several was sections of land passed back to the falls between flareups. egypt took control of the gaza strip when its waters was 1st thrown in 1949, but less than 20 years later, israel claimed it during the 6 day war. at the same time seizing this, you know, i mean to us in 1979,
6:21 pm
cairo was handed back to the peninsula and the 2 states signed a piece deal. egypt became the 1st arab country to recognize the state of israel. the 2 nations have had mostly peaceful relations since and if cooperated on issues like security, past governments of mediation between israel and tomas, which has historical ties to egypt. the militant islam as groups began as a palestinian branch of the muslim brotherhood, which was found and an agent muslim brotherhood briefly held pow wow. up to the gyptian revolution in 2011. that was an ousted by current president of delta l. c. c. in a who the, the group has been outlawed in egypt when despised cooperation with these rail sentiment amongst objections is largely full of the palestinian court. in crowds in cairo has been rallying against these rails bombardments of gaza with an election

due in december. the government is standing sun on borders and security and says it will not allow a mass movement from gaza. egypt fee is a crew to become responsible for millions of palestinian refugees like lebanon and jordan, before it cairo who said palestinians should not be forced to flee. the lat does advocated for a 2 state solution. the government said it rejects the killing of any civilians. it is urged restraint and said, israel is response to a mazda is terrorist attack now, amounts to collective punishment. egypt is working to mediate, along with other international partners and to create a humanitarian lifeline for civilians in gaza. or brussels correspondent bands and we got spoke to as well as and foster to the un nato. i am rake of he asked him whether israel was doing a nuff to protect civilians in the gaza strip. this. what i'm saying is,
6:23 pm
1st of all, we need to look how it started, how much for walk it war natural. so these that they conduct noted before, get in and can not be, they'd be not be an excuse for that. he's run, he's actually in the cold, into the national, non human and town. little. these are at least they will, this war is not against the policy and people is not against is really honest, is not against the man woman that they're not involved. it's only against thomas activities in theories, so we do own in our power to avoid, to avoid harmon on involved people and civilian. nevertheless, the european union says visit or radiation and tearing treasures in gaza because the 2000000 people are deprived of both of food and so on. and that you've been now sent if it's possible, as you military aids, to gather strip. so what can east road do to avoid that? we are not, i'm not aware of any humanitarian crisis. we are monitoring the situation. there is
6:24 pm
no you mind to and crosses the movements still fee for these because we do not wants to harm any on involve civilian this. why is read all the army and defense establishment called the population to move from areas that make some that they do. they might be harmed. so again, the purpose of this warning that we will not harm any of people that are not involved. unfortunately, they come us use those people as a human shields. they do not have, they do not care for that population like the incident that we saw yesterday at the hospital with some us fire, a real good. the heat or the stomach just heat the hospital they, they, they fire eat from it will pull out area versus you're going to live in any to they, he did their own or speaker, and they caused the deaths of hundreds of people. this is the way they, they act and they don't care for them yesterday was a successful they because they succeeds to says the story that these are these home
6:25 pm
and people and put pressure on ease. right? but we have the full evidence that it was done by hamas and islamic jihad. but i'm not saying that is will attack the hospital into european union. for example. the head of the commission was about fund a line also said the effects have to be established. i mean, of course, you are invested movies where you tell your story, who must have the other story. so what show the public to know he's the only one story fact and we have a clear rate quote from us terrorist activities. and we have a clip of footage video of these through ok. so there is no question mark about that. there is no doubt about it. and it's about time, i'm not really certain you. i'm just saying that i think that it's about time to listen. i'm calling you are open and, and everybody watching us be to about time to believe and distrust is right official statement and not arrogant. his vision statement, but we have the proof. it's,
6:26 pm
there is no question mark on that. the you says also that is sort of course has the right to self defense and that the ground offensive will come in the next days. maybe. are you not afraid that there will be more pictures of maybe killed civilians in gaza that then will the temper the, the image of the cause of israel around the road. we're north now looking into the image we're looking into what's happening and how to solve the problem in as long as how much is there the problem, we stay forever. we are fighting the war of these are our 1st and foremost, but these, this is also the site for the palestinian because as long as commodities there, they will not have any future. so we, i'm not going into the alteration or the thought of what we plan and what we end up planning. but europe and then we'll need to ask, understand, what is this fight about? that was our correspondence, speaking to is wells and bastard, the you and nato. hi rake of and that is your news opt in this hour. there's more
