[000:00:00;00] the, you're watching, you know the names coming to live from berlin. israel says it will allow, allow aid into gaza from egypt. us president joe biden pushed for the concession during a visit to tel aviv bite, and also urged his riley's not to be consumed with rage over a mazda is tara tax. also on the show, the palestinian health authorities as an explosion at a hospital and gaza has kills nearly 500 people. come awesome blaine's in his

railey air strikes israel and the us now say the evidence points for rocket misfire by another palestinian group. the clare richardson, welcome us president joe biden says israel says it will allow humanitarian aid into gaza from egypt. biden pressed for a deal on a visit to tel aviv wrapping up his talks with prime minister benjamin netanyahu biden warned his riley's not to be quote, consumed with rage over the homeless terror attacks. he added the united states would do every thing it could to insure. israel is safe and warrants that war and other countries not to launch attacks. janice as well biden's plans to hold talks with arab leaders and jordan have now been cancelled in the aftermath of the

explosion of fight and reiterated the united states as commitment to supporting israel october 7th, which was sacred. due a sacred jewish holiday became a deadly stay for the jewish people since the holocaust is brought to the surface, paid for members. the scars let find the lenny of anti semitism and the genocide how the jewish people throw, watch, then it new and the world did nothing. we will not stand by and do nothing again. not today, not tomorrow, not ever. and before that trip, the white house said the bite and was traveling to tel aviv with hard questions for the israeli prime minister. i asked our washington bureau chief in his pull to explain whether we actually saw that happen now. well, you know, us policy has always been to support israel regardless, regardless which party actually is in the lead. so,
7:03 pm
and also the us doesn't recognize the state of palestine just to give a little bit of a context here. this trip is meant to ensure that the state of israel is still supported by the us government and the administration. it would be a complete $184.00 united states president to really start interrogate the israeli government. yeah, and it's also interesting that bite and, and that in the all who are known to have something of a rocky relationship themselves, is that going to put a limit on what biden is able to achieve their, on his diplomatic mission as well by doing as many western leaders actually is trying to thread the needle in the us response to israel, a military campaign. the democrats, this is biden's policy, are really divided over the israeli offense and gaza, especially after the hospitals tried yesterday, which killed hundreds of innocent people. as you just mentioned,
7:04 pm
and in this regard it is really important advice and said that israel would not be behind, but definitely flossed according to information he of the u. s. president is receiving . but you know, as we just heard in his speech, he underlined the commitment to standards is right in saying you are not alone. but she also talked about the mistakes us made off to the $911.00. this isn't the knology which is actually often used these days. he aust, israel notes to be consumed by rage and follow the rule of law. i think it's fair to say that the united states influence in the region has been massively diminished in the wake of 911 and its subsequent war on terrorism. how much can biden realistically hope to achieve with this visit to thank as well as the president biden? uh, there are a limits to watch. he can do the us itself doesn't have an appetite to try and
7:05 pm
control parts of the middle east like it did during the early years of the bush administration by then who asked me effectively, elizabeth thrall from off gone. this done, which we know had it's slow, it has no interesting in being involved in another war. and the days of this military hawks actually seemed really to be in the past and even within the republican polity, received trends towards more nation. it's nationalistic tendency, so the role by it and, and the u. s. place, and the region does seem to be really changing. he wants to be rob, or someone who is able to help catering a piece deal of and being actively involved in another more. thank you so much for that. that is the don't these washington bureau chief in this paul would like to welcome into the studio. he dos stein back, who's a senior fellow at the german institute for international and security affairs.
7:06 pm
welcome. thank you for taking the time to speak with us and following the explosion at this hospital, the leaders of egypt and jordan, and the policy and present model to boss, have called off a plan to summit with us president biden. what would they have been discussing? and what will, by them be missing out on here now that this is not happening, or, i don't think he's miss missing a lot simply because the, the, the, the may major development are the talks between president biden and the nathaniel government. president biden. and who's defense minister lloyd austin, have already called for restraint, and they have told these rallies to think hard about what happens after these rallies go into the gaza strip. and i think that is the most important question. what do these rallies do after the americans have have told them? well, perhaps it might not be such a wise idea to reoccupied the gaza strip. president
7:07 pm
a boss and the leaders of jordan and egypt are not really the most important personalities in the field right now. or this is about bite in no time yahoo and time us. so what options are on the table for israel with this pressure from bite in suggesting that it would not be a good idea for them to re occupy the gaza strip? no good options i, i think uh, but it's extremely important that these rarely governments government thinks this true because they, they might have only 2 options if they really go into the cause a gaza strip. if they re occupy it, they have to think about the day, the best lens. and as it seems, been that time you all who government hasn't told about that yet, but they would have either to re occupied the gaza strip with is rarely troops or send send in the security forces of the palestinian authority,
7:08 pm
both options and not really options. so i have no clue what the israelis i'm planning to do. so looking at the humanitarian situation in the gaza strip right now, there's so many people rushing toward that russell border crossing, hoping to leave to cross and to egypt when it opens. and yet both egypt and jordan have refused to taken refugees from god. so can you explain to us what, what their thinking is, what is behind their decisions with the neighboring states? a always like to instrument a total to use to instrumental lies the palestinians, but they don't really like them. they think they tend to think of them as a security threat. i think that's somewhat understandable in a country like jordan, where about 70 percent of the population is of palestinian origin. in the case of egypt, i think that's a little bit exaggerated, but it is understandable simply because they fear that those palestinians who leave
7:09 pm
the gaza strip now might not be allowed back in after after the war. and they want to avoid such a situation of the end result of cause is immense suffering on the other side of the concept board. what do you mean by not let back in? is it that they would not seek to return or that most would prevent them from returning to because of stroke? no, i think the, the they are thinking about the scenario in which israel would reoccupied the gaza strip. a number of colors with palestinian, who is in egypt and would not be allowed back into the gaza strip. i mean, this is what happened in the neighboring states of to $48.60. i see, yes. now i will want to come to the explosion at that hospital in gaza. president biden today has said he has seen data from the department of defense suggesting that the explosion of a hospital was not from israel. if this is proven to be true and it is indeed from another palestinian militant group as israel is claiming,
7:10 pm
with this change support for a mos within the gaza strip. i don't think so. i of course, believe that after president biden has been so, so open about this, this topic i, i simply believe these are at least right now, but it doesn't make any difference of citizens of guys. many arabs, many muslims always believe that it's the is rarely site that is committed crimes. and we have seen that already in the, even the governments don't believe the american sundays. riley's right. that's all we have time for. but thank you so much for sharing your insights. that is akito assigned by the middle east analyst. we really appreciate your time. what was a semester on health ministry now says the 471 people were killed in that explosion at the hospital. i'm off, as we've heard blaming and is really air strike while israel and the us president joe biden. both say a rocket misfired by palestinian militants,
7:11 pm
was responsible. it's important course to note that for now there has been no independent verification of either claim. this is where the sick all supposed to be healed instead of the arab hospital in guns, the city has become the latest casualty. in a conflict, it's costing so many lives. hundreds died in this attack. here we were just sitting here and suddenly there was an explosion. the last shot dead on us. many people who look is, or many of those cool shopping, the last, what palestinians who'd been seeking refuge haven't mccadney, literally select. the lease was a safe haven for women. and children who fled is rarely selling near the hospital.
7:12 pm
the not bubble on the market. they saw this place as a refuge for them to feel safe and secure. definitely not a young brother most. there was no advanced warning before targeting and the hospital for them. however, they sent us a lot. there were more than 3000 people. you can have them display as was a safe haven. the terrorist group home us, which rules garza lamed israel for the attack. and she is route protests, have been held across the palestinian territories, including in the city of ramallah, in the westbank, no creators. these are that could be as riley army says, it has proved the attacker was carried out by another palestinian militant group is la, make g had and that israel is being on sadly blamed air to ground meeting. it was at the time that 6 59 pm when the reports open that explosion is the honey in my
7:13 pm
dining hospital in regards to seats. and according to our intelligence from us, check the report on this to this wasn't his stomach just broke it. so this has misfired and decided to launch a global media campaign to hide what really happened. dawson, meanwhile, on left to pick up the pieces from the night before. knowing this conflict is fall from ofa. sean carlo fiorella is the director of research and training at building cast and organization specialized, in fact checking and open source intelligence. i asked him whether such research could help establish what actually happened at that hospital in casa city. thanks for having me on. um yeah, i would say so. um we've done that in the past and other high profile events, but of course all of that is dependent on the availability of evidence. so throughout the day today,
7:14 pm
we've been looking at open source videos and pictures coming out of the complex, looking precisely to do that to clarify the situation and try to determine exactly what it is that happened. it's such a polarizing issue with the motions really running high on both sides. have you been able to find enough evidence to allow you to do that kind of analysis up until this moment? we have it, it's something that we're working on. and as i said, we've been working on it since this morning and we're continuing to work in addition to this afternoon. but at the moment we haven't found any conclusive evidence. i can point the finger in one direction or another. and now, as i've mentioned, any anyone who's been on social media in the last few days has probably come across some really deeply disturbing images claiming to show atrocities. there is clearly in addition to being a war here, a war of information for viewers watching at home. what would you tell them about
7:15 pm
how they can assess whether information that they're seeing online is reliable? what i would tell people watching is that the 1st step to being able to assess the information that they're seeing online is to slow down. when we see something that is shocking. something that upsets us like a video, allegedly from something like a, an air strike or some other atrocity that affects us emotionally. we feel outraged, we might feel angry, and that emotion can lead us to not think critically and hit the retreat button. your head like reflexively and share what might turn out to be this information. and so the 1st step to consuming social media in an event like this is to really deliberately slow down and not reflexively share content, but rather take the time to ask critical questions about who is sharing it. with this account is this somebody who can speak from experience or authority on the
