least 6000 people and disputes are for the several 100000. most victims of these i talk id, peace. they used to stay in another community that came here for safety. with this we set an attack. most of them have told us they don't know exactly where to go next. that's because even in the city of boy, yeah, the company to one of the 2 english speaking regions, super disability terms continues of cutting out deadly attacks. like this one do model. but at least one person died in the blast, and more than $3.00 and $2.00 went injured. in, in october, cvt is accused of spying to ami with more that in public. you know, these are jumpstart key. with the belgian works for human rights organizations. boy, you do,
10:35 pm
can i vision is recorded houses of acts of violence against this by the corresponding dentist, not community, as well as friends of come around to get, get into a negotiated dialogue or piece stokes we or pots us to the conflict. and so that's a result conflict between the state as well as most it has not yet of right as a compromise. and i think it still fits cation of disposal costing an increase in human rights violations and abuses. and they're not with us out with regents of color and it seems to be new and insight to the conflict and the suffering attacks. and sealants have become so regular that the people no longer want to be more would happen. they know is just too much out of time. what's already we now from boy a is a go on congo. he is the president of the center for human rights. and democracy in africa is good to have you with us here in dw and use africa. i like to stop us the
10:36 pm
by getting your thoughts on this attack in muncie. so um, thanks for having me. the. busy i talking monthly, it was to speak a blue. it was an example of, of crime against humanity where, you know, tends to be on its way attacks. so i'm about 25 being cute. 12 seriously when their level house is but this is draws great jobs and it shops my conscience, he shrugs the contents of humanity that these double puffins. why not even both oxygreen in this trouble could just be the victims of some people? oh, i suppose to be a bit spam. yeah. protect those. it wasn't because venus had did for us in the country, especially for those in the region. so kind of all right has faced the number of challenges in recent years ranging from a succession of movement to the threats posed by arms groups. but just take us back
10:37 pm
as to why there is this split between the english and french speaking regions and in cameron. well, historically kind of wrote and used to be on the front cover and used to be part of nigeria. and i'd probably just come right. used to be independent, but we have to go back from the vessels treaty. the punch is on the, the bidding commtrans a bunch of june of africa, the versailles treaty under you. and if you cation so it's been a chick categories um, the type of, of what people use the younger phones under, from the phones, to build a nation. that would be fair. that would be the critical. and the justice would be the cut to the objects, or what is it that the separate test calling for at present? what i mean by the name disabilities are clamoring for extra now. self determination, which is that are still original on all the speed of on by sonya or the solving cumberland states via or the uncle phones we want internet ourselves to diminish on
10:38 pm
. so my client, maureen, full of duration, you know, some of some of them feel that if it a ration would to take care of the interests of what the front before on the, on the phones it would risk pet. i'm the control. i mean, we stick defenses. that's why. so i'm think a tuesday. it for original. no, that's believing it tends to go. that'd be, that'd be leaving it for that. but i think it's just the breakdown of communication and the need for the central gulf main to try to. we have some minds of the younger phones because i'm the phones have suffered subjugation for a long time in this country that goes to that 2nd class citizens. you know, so there is the need also for ross to go back to the drawing board to have the constitution out. i range been where we bought a new phones and franco phones would be called in everything in the country. and that if that is a possibility of our sharing beautician, not presidency, which would be under forms on the front before you could go
10:39 pm
a long way to help the situation. what do you make of the timing of the status to attack? and in terms of your reading because you know, many were mocking the 41 years of poor b impala. how much of this escalation of violence is linked to his continued leadership as well? i think it's particular um, easy to ended in a bit cool. i, i don't think it was connected to me. that'd be as $4.00 to $1.00. e as in pot. why does these parts apply into that? because it has a hor, my post call said to lean some of the boat. keep people not quite. yeah. they came to it back call where some of the king spin that maybe the. busy one of the of the does have been killed, i'm very dead. i do believe that the people what they contribute it to the killing sort of the lead us. but overall, i think we started the steam power wise contribute to also um to the conflict because i personally don't think that he has what it takes to resolve the conflict some of the separately that's have a plus
10:40 pm
a particular beef with the precedent because the few that frustration on some of the way to get it from the best. so all that went into x that some of them went to do the believe that the was a b. i to be gene that contributed to the i'm just for teams on some of the, the problems that the f as in. so with this comment redeem, i don't see how that would be peace. i don't see how they can come down from the high goals to try to find a solution. and i think what he also, i don't see the super it is really, really to get into a pro pot truck. but um they will see show on wood with the car and go from the bedroom. unfortunately, it lives you'll have to do with what you off. and if we all be as president, then just separate this off to find a way to, to, to get into a dialogue with you my mist. that'd be else the last one is done. do you mind mr. you might have to understand that for us to find a solution now to talk to the other parties also, because if we don't talk to the other parties, we'll go through this because,
10:41 pm
i mean, the other thing was about when you do pay it to that way, cute, and they back, wait next week at one kid him too many in on the for the comfort room. you know, not every kids can go to school, this economics technician, we have our products and that's what we're currently seeing in the federal. we have been trying to keep things, we have lots of human rights violations taking place in solvers unload with the tribes. it gives you money being committed by both parties and the only punish. yeah, the only solution is it both part is good. 5, it will only stick solution that would need to run into this concept extra oh mediation play a role here. i just wonder what role of the international community could play as well them we have had his recently addition though, we had to kind of that pre towards which field because of those the hawks in the government. why not really prepared to just see these dogs come through because they don't want to lose the power?
10:42 pm
why they're not ready to really do. centralized, decentralize is showing us was that they just use more of us maybe. but equally also, the government always sees something to them out program and they don't need it. they're not by not. but i believe that extend up on us could be helpful, and it's been up on the doesn't necessarily mean west and that's because to mean respectable countries in the, in the african union and countries that's all the tasks that have the rest of the states. understood bridges, i think got difficult well in the, in only the alternate we could have a high breach of what actually can extend up on this on you to be an american and kind of down and extend up on us to try to see how they could brokers something the separate just don't believe in the, on this deal. government government argues that they're selling 10 out of my to and it only for my partners. so we needed me to drown. you know, we need to be new ground that will be win win situation. how do we get expand upon us? that's what parties we'll talk soon. but i think that setting lead us in the africa,
10:43 pm
you know, and i don't want to call about it, come down me is probably either a mouthful is that's probably um the check up on the president. i would love the don't you know, book that you know, does that needs to be i might have respect for them or distributed by of respectful them. oh oh, that is disappearing into accounting and also kind of can come with the president like judge. we played football in colorado and i think his respect that he can come route, i think the ship, which is with respect to my things to be i would also have respect for him. they also can, can put in the voices and try to see how we can come up on these media. okay, mr. as long congress, the president of the fence, a full human rights and democracy in africa. thank you very much indeed for your time and analysis. thanks for having me, have a nice the hearing for and then the science week has just ended and subtract that. some of the world's most innovative young scientists, hundreds took part in the event, one of the largest of its kind. it's about sharing ideas as well as research and
10:44 pm
solutions for the challenges of the future. the funding was the foundation set top science labs in africa to foster projects that find african solutions for african problems. and one idea was from tens, neil and it was presented among the 140 was projects at the bowl in science week. invention is an app. that's what about breaking unhealthy eating habits. it's an a i powered meal planning tool that enables use this to get dishes tailored to the specific nutritional needs and local tastes. this whole journey me now in the studio is janice coming to serve you from place a i. she's the winner of folding was lab tenzing now and her presentation title is breaking the wall of unhealthy eating habits. it's good to have you with us here and do the news africa. thank you so much for having and congratulations on winning your project back in may just tell us more about what it was like attending,
10:45 pm
but in science week and competing with 99 other people. i know the week was a, this, it has been a very great week for me. like actually competing with 9 to 9. i was given only 3 minutes on the flow at was a really tough being, but we managed. but the greatest thing was uh for me, like listening to the 9 to 9 preaches and hearing the solutions that they are coming up with in the was. but they're trying to break this was really insightful for me. i would say it's uh, was a great week, and i can't wait to like continue interrupting the more 9 to 9. i introduced that i met and you've been presenting your possible projects. yes, i tell us more about it. okay, so today is a personal project for me cause my grandfather died in 2021 and as he doesn't uh from that but its type to and it was a really hard moment for me and my family to with me. so i, they zip they didn't,
10:46 pm
i was born, i was actually wanting, i wanted to solve the problem of unhealthy eating habits in times when. yeah, and i feel not doing that research. i fall into 2 major uh uh, things that are causing these unhealthy eating habits. and these are the unhealthy dietary parton's in this an entire life so. so my major thing was coming up with what will i use in terms on year 2. i tried to create a healthy lifestyle ecosystem to prevent unhealthy eating habits, and those were fading. i was born actually. and how does it work in practical time? ok, so i the use of have to input data. we have the data preferences, we have the costs of expenses. so like the really enjoying the data preference is going to include like, what are they ologist? that one has uh they have a weight of a person. uh, what is he suffering from? is he having diabetic, whatnot, and then coming, going is, is suffering from now from there we can plan is now the muse not only planned but
10:47 pm
the planned according to the local. and if i remove the woods in pennsylvania, so i found that that a lot of ups existing, but the major problem was that whenever you want to move to the plant, the mill will be planned. but somebody who didn't seem to be available as an annual country into a senior, so i have to go police know, but i do think within some of them i leave my country. so my goal was to like create, uh uh, an app that would help people intends any applying them is with the available local fords that are in california. so give me an example of what is considered a very healthy local cuisine in time. so most of them are vigil tables like we have this uh, we show more of having a vital means uh, any of those that kind of well for me was, but they are also seeing some of the pictures shown up. so does that also type of uh, nutrition, some that are available in terms on it and how do you think and as like, yours will be received in times. now do you think people are receptive to the idea
10:48 pm
of, of incorporating more of a healthy diet? so that was also a great question that i had when i was starting the research, but i didn't, i didn't do research with a 100 people. most of them being the ones was suffering from diabetic. and actually i got a very positive feedback from that use from the ones was suffering from that medic . most of them are willing because they have these things uh means plans that they received from most of the doctors and they wish they would have like a variety of meals so that they would also enjoy like 18, you know, getting every day i've been using the same meal that is kind of like of a boring lifestyle and you'd wish it wasn't like having a variety of meals. so it was received positively by the people who are suffering from an incoming companies. it is so you're still in the research phase of this project. when does it take off? so we're hoping to take it off from my next year, but it's still a bit of
10:49 pm
a great process. and we're thinking that we're thinking the tons on and for nutrition center for my being a part of these. because without them we couldn't which anywhere. yeah. and what would be the next steps then as you head off to, to your project into fruition? so the next process i would be heading back to times in the end, like because we're still in the prototype, the m v p. so we are going to continue because now we are still collecting the data . and is that a i'll collect in from i've been so see how that can could be found in the play store. and from this that are the 3 collect from the bottom. so see how we find them to interact with them in the plate? a i way and now we can begin like planning news for these uses. what's been the biggest challenge so far? so 5 it'd be just challenge to me is getting the data cause i, we have to like physically get the data. i collect them off those and that has been
10:50 pm
the greatest challenge for me. not only that, but also like getting a talent in a i especially cause a i used to like a new field in times on. yeah. so getting experts we're reaching a i has been a change and i would wish to get assistance that out there to help me out in building a health ecosystem in africa by building 50 i. yeah, i was gonna ask you that. as the last question, what advice would you give to have the young women who are looking to pursue a career in tech ends and create science startups like yours? so the great thing i would tell them is that, you know, they shouldn't listen to what others say, you know, growing up and getting into science menu, look at me. and like i say, can you do this? i'm like, i can do it and i can make it. and that is the greatest thing that i've been telling everybody like you want to pursue science. believing yourself done by yourself. no matter who saves and much of what the person stays. you just believe
10:51 pm
in yourself. that you can do it. so confidence is that big way this. think of the funny dentist creek is so we thank you very much indeed for speaking to dw and use africa. thank you so much for having me here. so the and mex writing has gotten what pop it out as a sport around the world since it became a competitive event in the tokyo olympics. now in africa, it's instruments among young people is spreading across egypt. south africa, kenya and nigeria were the 1st to be in mex, pop in west africa recently opened to help develop a sports w is only such a coma as in lagos. and he went to watch the wheel spinning the getting up. so i know that the streets, right, 23 and quantum that me larry knows all about the challenges of practice into sports . he lives on the streets of legs, a, b, and makes athletes. he rides school,
10:52 pm
most of the practicing news funds to shop on his skills for him. it's all about getting to a professional level. why does that sound right in like 70 or 70 years back? so i wanted me, i liked him as going out of the case. so i think is the of, of an out of the case. i see of ways now i would say i'm a professional. so then you ask on that lots to because we are watching them. so the, so the and j i be that i found under our mission now. now i'm going to be and makes writing notes and national sports in the country is that tracks and young people to take part. and for many like when it all started on the streets box with a newly built the inmates park in the city. they now have more to look forward to supported by the state governments and other partners. it is the 1st be

a mix park in west africa and demands to provide a vibrance hub of f. d style supports b m x bike announcer support might still be involved in nigeria. but we pods like basically lagos young, right as hoping to help give ya dreams a bruce on shots as of sunday on preaching and major tournaments like your lympics . the upside is actually helps them improve these, these cues or tricks. they are able to log on to slug around like this, this way, but uh, do yourself with us. maybe either see us way i do and i do between most 80 to be most retained. they like sports. so if, if we just like for football, um the only thing is there is no much on this game as well. for now it will be coming in as soon as far right is now see the new park as a welcome development for the bruce. but the sports, but the one says it's also a step closer to fulfilling history where i didn't i just,

it's possible before now we're out of pocket on. so now that the boxes, i think the past helps improve the schooling. so my dream is rips in my country, in an antiques and as being competitions. so we administer items uh, i was a 1000000, pays for myself. and my contract with nigeria is lunch duty. population to hope now is that the inmates can take a flat spin into the mainstream. well, that's our show visual to check out the other stories on the w dot com forward slash time, because also on facebook. and i'm really the bahamas for watching. i'll face to take care by the,
