the, the, this is the, the, we news long from berlin. israel is assessing the damage the day after being targeted by entering in my style bars. some injuries and building damage have been reported. israel is promising to retaliate. this comes as new airstrikes hit pre roots, while israel expansive ground operation and southern level not defending armor and infantry units across the border. boosting it's dale ground defensive against hezbollah. strong winds and rental rains, calling to taiwan is typhoon krypton. insurance been toward the island. its already

shut in schools and businesses as people there prepare for the work. the welcome to the program i'm the call for at least is rarely prime minister benjamin netanyahu says iran will pay after it launched an estimated $180.00 missiles at israel overnight. israel says and intercepted many of the missiles, mid air, and officials and washington, se us naval destroyers, assisted in israel's defense there on claims that most of the missiles hit their target. there were several report of injury, some building damage during the attack. officials in the occupied west bank said a palestinian man was killed in jericho by falling rockets fragments. this is the 2nd time iran has fired miss all that israel since april. of the conflict between

the 2 powers and iran back from the alicia's deep and or no social media footage of an array of un miss all exploding just north of tel aviv on the sky or the israel, a light with the fire of incoming missiles and the defense systems taking them down . israel says the majority of that is a $118.00 ms. silas intercepted. this venue has been destroyed by shot know from one such interception was the most people thought we were in the shelter and we were something like one hour. and it was the booming, like a crazy um i see where is the world going to and uh, i don't, i don't feel comfortable with it. and i hope everything is gonna be good, you know,

supposed to be rainy and government took to the streets to celebrate a bronze revolution. because it says the assault was in retaliation for the recent killings of how my son has believed is just really ministry operations. and nothing and then goes a, israel's prime minister benjamin netanyahu says a ron made a grave mistake. look like we will uphold the rule. we have set, scott, whoever attacks us, we attack them. this holds true wherever we fight the axis of evil. so somebody in that single vision as israel formulates this response, citizens on the streets of terror on getting worried of the last half bond was personally, i'm against florida. and i think be better because it's the people who suffer the consequences of what i'm really worried because it is well, once it's implemented through tally
12:04 pm
t measures, it will lead to an extension of the war. everyone is worried about that, but i heard of the united states, we stopped supporting israel and the israel will not retaliate. last night i'm gonna say that but to retaliation by israel seems inevitable. the next step and then expanding conflict in the middle east. as a 1st time, iran has targeted israel up directly since april. earlier i asked been, i'm been to lead blue from the foundation for the defense of democracies. all this attack was different that yes indeed, and pleasure be back with you. this attack literally doubled the scale of the scope and the previous attack. if there were about a 100 to a 120 ballistic missiles, up to the largest reg, package of 300 projectiles last go round naples. this one feature just shy of 200, about 181 reported a medium range ballistic missiles launch from the running territory directly of
12:05 pm
israel. unlike the previous rank, however, this was not combined with lower and lower flying projectiles that the coalition in the past was able to shoot down for even getting these really territory. those types of project house related back cruise missiles and suicide drones. another more difference, of course, is the fact that in the previous generation, it was about a 10 or 12 data leda. likely a word to run, threatened revenge, and indeed reportedly even worn to international interlocutors. this time to run lightly, threatened revenge, and delayed that revenge after the killing of any uh and only gave anywhere between the 2 and the 4 hour heads up. so what do we double the scale and significantly shrunk of wanting time. israel has about to retaliate. what do you think is real good target in iran and is iran prepared for it? it well, i think the easier question if you're looking at this one military perspective at the level of compared that despite these monica public, having uh,
12:06 pm
several advanced russian air defense systems in several domestically reverse engineered air defense systems. even in the previous generation. when the as rallies responded to the april 13 april 14 attack the these relays were able to penetrate it, running your states with projectiles and target and radar of the most advanced russian provided air defense system. yes, 300. so the chances of a successful aerial interception by these mama public run is pretty much close to neil, the kind of deterrence they're using and gauges and is often determined by punishment rather than insurance. by now, that's the 1st part of your question. that really is the $1000000.00 question right now. of the timing of the scale of the scope of the is really military response is being debated. that response is probably not going to be limited for just inside a ron. even though the range of targets would include anything from the nuclear program to military facilities. that missile and drone program, the storage facilities there, you name it, and you look at the things that have been subject to cyber attacks or, or,
12:07 pm
or corporate access medic, sabotage in the past. it could be a very, very wide list. plus of course, the holding of the running the interested broad, be at the proxies weapons, depos orland restructure across the region. you name it. but one thing i can tell you that probably will be a more difference from the april is really response. is that in april 19th, these release did not claim the attack. my thing for public diplomacy and that determines purposes, they might actually claim this attack now, and we're looking at a textbook tit for tat here aren't wait. and iran says it doesn't want an all out war with israel, but i want to ask you is not precisely what the region is spiraling towards. and indeed, as we get closer to the lead, october 7, a terrorist attack anniversary. and that touched off this regional kind of a gratian. you have his real fighting something of a 6 or 7 front war, depending on how you count. and indeed,
12:08 pm
we are already in the midst of something of the regional more just depends on the, the level of ferocity and intensity and the geographic domain that you're looking at this think through and with respect, you mentioned textbooks, this entire ordeal from april to present as shattered textbooks, i mean, if you look at 2024 in the 1st 4 months of 2024 is monica public. i've run a non nuclear weapon states overtly directly and conventionally attack to nuclear arm nations and live to tell the tale. that's something during the cold war night of the soviet union north america did. and that's something now in the post cold war period. neither one, there are no rush to have done. so it has really shattered presidents here and the missile port braj that expired. just the other night, 181 projectile is 181 medium range, ballistic missiles that to march the largest single ballistic missile garage and 119 record of history. so much more to get to but unfortunately we'll have to leave it there. then i'm going to label around analyst with the foundation for the

defense of democracies. many things great speaking to you and for more on how all of this is being viewed in israel. i can now speak to a journalist bindix levine and tell him he's welcome. what's the situation in israel at the moment by or well, the work of the 2 and you day where things are somehow are back to normal at least in the go study area. the total be area to the audience full person yesterday. um almost immediately after that has said that there is no further from me around what is central. okay. yeah, we'll say as well. uh, i just reminded the one that we're talking about the book fair, what are some of the, and you do here. so everybody is going to be a to do the groceries on the, to do the shopping for today's holiday. but in these really, you know, the situation is a bit different because of course, the confrontation of the work that we the is trying the military at the table.
12:10 pm
while we still see that the operatives are targeting is ready to move to the community. the human insight, israel with the rock is the also the ministry so that they're very close to that. and it just a couple of minutes ago, actually the idea came out saying has a lot launched around a 100 missiles on the area north of haifa. but what more do we know? yes, so this morning actually a back to 100 missiles. uh, rockets actually were quite a common level not to what the uh is very, you know, in general specifically what the deal with, you know, pay high for window rock. that's where the fire salt been met. so in open areas, others were intercepted by the result. but there were no uh, casualties included as a result of the bracket on the monument damage and illegally open areas. be damaged
12:11 pm
in major damage happens actually in between over to uh, the front of the town. the price of the is really liberties the other side of the border, close to 2. yeah. actually right on the 3 and they bought it as well. and then there at least 7 houses where head bike, i'm sorry, tank missile. that is, a lot of it just has quite a bit explains why the easily round rates are now being carried out because of the fact that the situation got to be going on in order to bring back these very population residents in the know back to the home safely, bill needs to be as somehow with a situation where a wrote deals with this very news, the law offices right in the reading room in buddha, the, the counselor will be able to fire the sense that miss all the poor wouldn't be able to carry out any similar to like scenario from these really knows what these

would seem and communities along the border peace butler turn lebanese villages next to east valley villages into military bases all ready for an attack on israel . but now that is really ground forces all in southern lebanon. there's no knowing when they will leave. and a quick quote now at some other stories making headlines around the world. police in denmark are investigating to last but went off close to the is really embassy and copenhagen. no one was injured in the explosions, which happened over nights in an upscale suburb of the capital. danish authorities are trying to establish if the explosion was aimed at the israeli embassy. the type police have charged a man with reckless driving, causing deaths and injuries after the boss who was operating burst into flames. 20 children and 3 teachers died. the driver who was transporting students and teachers

been injured, find the approaching storm that some 10000 people have been evacuated from areas across the timeframes project as passages, taiwan, as president warrens. the storm is likely to cause. yeah. how does the traffic damage thoughts into the c d. w. corresponding, james trader has this update from guys showing where the type food is due to a glance, all of the rain and the wind, as you can see behind me in the southern city of guile shone, has really started to pick up the speed of the wind the intensity of the rain and likely to increase further as we move into this evening. and to more morning when this hyphen cross on is likely somebody's land full. as you mentioned in the introduction, no deaths, fortunately have been reported so far, but dozens of people have been injured by this type for 38000 troops or on standby and some 10000 people have already already been evacuated from some of these areas and will mountainous areas of taiwan, where the risks of flash flooding and stronger winds in rain. i liked the city
12:18 pm
files. where is the storm expected to was next? the has been somewhat conflicting reports about the exact pos, into the, the full cost and routes of this type. food is really had swung in from the south of tai ones, mainland, and was initially full cost to make landfill sometime today that was in the late of the type angle some what stuff in this part of southern taiwan. but it is expensive to move north over the west in costs of taiwan, the more populous parts of taiwan over the course of this evening, it into some more morning and potentially into friday as well. portions to point out today will of taiwan has been closed down businesses, schools and shelves have been shelves across the island. it's not clear yet whether those restrictions will be enforced across the on it as well tomorrow. but it's um, because this type thing has slowed down the pace of its moving has slowed down slightly. the length of time that the impacts of this type food could be felt, sorry if it's high one, even though it has weakens
12:19 pm
a little bit from initial estimates is likely to be more protracted over the course of the next few days. james is a time when he's government has warrants that the type who is likely to cause catastrophic damage. how well the parents are authorities, but also residents of the day when that time one is ready use of this type of natural disaster. it has a regular type for in season during which several type streams usually hit taiwan. so this is something that the government and residents are pretty used to, but something that's been unique about this type for. and i guess is that the roots of it, which is that usually type things that hits high want to strike from the east. so they move over the pacific ocean and initially hit the eastern parts of taiwan. what we've seen with this type thing, is it swinging from the south and then move up to hit the west in cost of time $1.00, which again is the more popular as part of tie one millions of residents with a major cities on the western positive of taiwan and so there will be questions as
12:20 pm
a what questions following typhon gave me, which struck taiwan in july with 11 people that left off the bad weather as a result of climate change. with the increasing intensity of this type of type thing, whether the measures in place across the taiwan, they're going to be fit for purpose going forward. you double your correspondence. james, trader in gosh young. in taiwan, thank you so much. your 9, it states the 2 man competing to be the next life presidents trend of barbs and argued over policies in their only debate before the election, democratic candidate 10 walls and republican j d benz cuz it's the civil as a man in new york but advanced it is best to characterize the democratic presidential nominee cumberland harris as a source of all of america's ill walls. meanwhile, laid out a list of ways he believes harris has rival republican former presidents. donald trump would divide americans. claudio hampshire kicked off the debate of the full political rivals. j. d. yvonne sent him rolls, began me a pitch to vote,
12:21 pm
hits the debate focused on policies including migration and donald trump's false claims about stations asian kids in springfield, ohio. but by standing with donald trump and not working together to find a solution, it becomes a talking point. and when it becomes a talking point like this, we did humanize in billing eyes, other human beings. we want to have j. d. von police ahead, his microphone conscious, he trying to talk beyond his allocate to the higher on the issue. the audience can't hear you because your mikes are caught. we have so much we want to get to thank you for explaining the legal process. pointed questions on healthcare, housing, the economy, and abortion access revealed vastly different divisions for the us. we have a partial birth abortion ban in this in place in this country at the federal level . i don't think anybody's trying to get rid of that, or at least i hope not. but i know that democrats have taken a very radical pro abortion stance at senator, but the debates remain largely civil with any attacks reserved for the candidates running manuals. we have 2 minutes where i'm going to be careful about the quotes,
12:22 pm
but there's one that centered advance that does resonate with me. he said donald trump makes the people i care about afraid. a lot of america feels that way is i believe that whether you're rich or poor, you ought to be able to afford to buy a house. you ought to be able to live in safe neighborhoods. y'all did not have your communities flooded with fentanyl and that to has gotten harder with college because of campbell harris has policies the performances a refreshingly amiable tongue, amid a contentious campaign with less than 5 weeks until election day. let's keep talking about the debate without a report or statement. there's the statement. the headlines are that this was a very polite, very midwestern debate, but set it apart from the debate between harris and, and trump a couple of weeks ago. right? absolutely. i mean, you and i were talking with us earlier when you look at the past debate, especially when trump has been involved, this could almost seem refreshing, almost seems sort of antiquated. there was discussion about child care policies,
12:23 pm
health care policies. imagine such a thing taking place under the circumstances of the past 6 years. and it's very clear that both candidates wanted to pursue this strategy. we expected this somewhat from waltz. he's supposed to be america's coach. she's supposed to project warranty supposed to be the father figure. we did not expect it as much from vance, but he went out of his way to be accommodating. he often said, i agree with him here. he would begin his answers that way. and it was very clear that both sides saved their fire power for the presidential candidates, trump, and harris. at the same time, i find that this was a bit deceptive as well, because we know that the politics of both sides are so divergent. there's so distinct donald trump is a once in a lifetime figure i would say in terms of his political career by his political draw and vance. what he did was he was able to soften that image a good deal and talk about policy and waltz. couldn't really get his claws into that. he was so busy being nice, being approached by whenever he did,
12:24 pm
try and approach that and sort of go after vans a little but he never knew the right time the right way to go with. i'll give you one example. there was at the very beginning, vance talks about trump was the only president or the most recent present, which they were no major american conflict started. this was the time with waltz to come in and said, what about january 6th? what about the attack on the capital? he missed that it was only later in the debate when these things came out. so these basic income grew and sees of a trump presidency, the chaos, the bigness that you have mass deportations. the causing us with dictators all of this was left behind to have what would seem like an old policy debate. and i think that's an internal structure of this debate format. unfortunately, we have a candidate like donald trump. yeah. all eyes on these to man who was under more pressure to perform well. last night i believe it was vance. i mean, others would argue waltz, but i believe it was vance. given the recent comments there become very wide spread about, you know, thomas kept ladies his perceptions of the role of the family, the role of a woman in the family. what he talked about with, with patient immigrants, for example, in springfield,
12:25 pm
ohio. what came up during the trump debate with harris actually reflected back on that because he began this whole thing about patient immigrants in springfield, ohio, eating people's pets. this plays into the immigration debates, the kind of hard line they want to take. so by softening his image, he really was able to push a lot of that away, but a lot of his answers at the same time, they weren't very complete. he would begin by thinking migrations, not the cause of everything. and then we come back to the insight, but that's why these people need to leave our country immediately. there are a lot of holes in here. and waltz again, couldn't quite dig in and expose some of those mistruths that experts say that v p debates do little to sway voters on either side. do you think this one is going to be different? i don't know. it is a difficult question. we know that a bad performance is more likely to weigh on a ticket, then a good performance is likely to help it. i would say that for vance, he definitely didn't hurt his ticket. and waltz may have a little bit. but we will have to see and erase as close as this one. you would have to think that every performance could matter that every, the optics of every debate really does matter. i think in that sense,
12:26 pm
vance really did for the his cause. but it and, and waltz in that sense didn't really help their calls in the sense of being able to say, this is not a normal ticket. this is not a normal campaign. you probably should have interrupted more. he probably should have really interjected more to really underline that point. and that's something he didn't do. that's just my opinion watching this, looking at how divergent, again, these 2 campaigns in the politics of the more and how much of a unique agent of chaos. donald trump is even barely thank you so much. and a reminder of our top story is today. the israel is assessing the damage from tuesday's virus of a rainy and missiles. iran says the strife was in response to the recent killings of hezbollah and some of the leaders, as well as promised to retaliate as comes as new airstrikes hit very rude. while israel's military says, is adding infantry in the armored units to and stay on the ground. operation 11 on israel says the offensive it's limited and aims to stop has blasts cross border,
