the, the, this is dw news life from for lynn is really air started to hit god's us more than 20 people die. and what israel says we're to come us command centers, one and a former school and 8 former last. where do you say they were sheltering, displaced people, and that dozens were injured. and donald trump returns to butler pennsylvania, the side where he merrily survive in a nation attempt in july. the
11:01 am
melissa chan, thanks for joining us. more than 20 people have been killed in gaza and it is really air strike on a mosque and a former school. the last one government, he also said 93 other people were injured in the attack that took place early sunday morning in the central town of darrell. all it said the school was being used to shelter displaced people. israel says the 2 facilities were a mazda command centers, dw, correspond atanya, kramer joins meat from jerusalem. tanya, what more do we know about the overnight strikes on gaza and israel's current military campaign and the strip squared? suddenly a reminder that the war in garza is continuing at a full force. now that is where the military is confirmed that these truck, there's uh, 2 areas in deal by lock which is in the middle area of call. so we're
11:02 am
a lot of calls and has a flat. and so to show to, in this area, tens of thousands, i believe, to be in this area. now the military confirmed that it struck a most gonna form a, a school and deal by law a. they are saying that it had targeted us. i'm us, command and control center. and as they usually say that uh from us and other militant groups on bedding themselves in a civilian areas without providing a for the evidence of that you understand from has this ortiz there that some of the victims there are still under the rubber. now the is where the army has also said that they are we launching a ground operation in jamalia, which is in the northern part of the gaza strip. jamalia is in the north of kansas city, the scene multiple times, the army going into that area where the house being before they're saying now that i'm us and other militant groups there are regrouping or are trying to re install
11:03 am
their military structure there. that is what the military is saying and a residence that are remaining in the noise of the not that many of the united nation street there over 200 thousands in northern garza. they have been called a button by the is where the military to move a south. they the military, so they have expended what they call a humanitarian zone and people should be moving there. but that means again the people are again, if they follow this, this order um to their again, on the move, we know that a people in garza have been multiple times displaced with the united nations. estimating that about 90 percent of cause this population has been displaced by no . we are on the eve of one year since the october 7th terror attacks in israel. tanya, what is the mood like in israel?
11:04 am
i think that's a rather complex question. depends on who you are as though. certainly people have lost their loved ones in the terror attack on october 7th, a year ago for them it's a day to, you know, remember the to remember the loved ones. it's a day of a morning and come in. we'll ration then you have people who still wait for the last ones to come back from guys. i've been taken hostage there. there were over 250 people taking hostage, a 101. i still believe to be in garza and there's no cease fire or hosted steel on the horizon to bring them back right now and then you have people i spoke to also who has survived what happened on october 7th. i went with them back home. most of those residents of the keep it seem the the, the localities to around the gaza strip villages and towns they, most of them have not really returned home for them. it's still a trauma to be back home and the situation is not really resolved. and on top of
11:05 am
that, of course, you have to political situation right now you have the conflict which has been in limbo and also the ground operations, the in southern lip and on with israel saying they want to bring the residence back to northern israel that have been displaced or have been evacuated while the uh, in uh, in october last year. then you have the ongoing conflict in gaza without the political horizon there without a scenario for the day after. and as i said, no cease fire hostage, dividing on the horizon to bring back to hostages. that's a topic that's so an issue. so important for many, israel is uh that is not being resolved right now. and on top of that, as well as the uh, ongoing, no direct conflict was yvonne uh, we saw the uh, ballistic missile attack last week as well as the 2nd in time. and now it's rather
11:06 am
is planning on some sort of retardation such a, it's not a matter of it's but when and how, right and also so people would say, you know, depending on who you ask, some fee of the to turn test being restored, but many also asking the issue of a, the, the question of responsibility for the security failures of october 7 has not been really a solve. so there are many questions that remain open. the w is tanya kramer, in jerusalem you and secretary general antonio gutierrez, released a statement on saturday. denouncing home austin, calling for an immediate end to the quote shocking violence and bloodshed and gaza and loving on. earlier in the week is real declared that you and she's a persona non grata, denying him entry into the country. gutierrez, a statement comes on the eve of the october 7th anniversary when her last militants abducted 251 people. it's time for the use of the hostages. fine to
11:07 am
silence the guns. time to stop the suffering, the closing gulf, the reach and time for peace, international law and justice. united nations is fully committed to achieving these goals. in the midst of so much bloodshed and the vision, we must hold on to hope that the memory of the victims united, samuel is and then the suffering and violence seem to hold me the least. and this has never stopped working for the last thing solution to the conflict where israel, palestine, and all other countries of the region can find the leaving piece and dignity and respect for one another. the former us president and republican candidate donald trump has returned to the pennsylvania town where he was targeted in an assassination attempt in july. security was extra tight for saturday's event, with just one month until the election. polls show
11:08 am
a close race including in the key battleground state of pennsylvania. trump urged supporters to deliver an election day victory invalid to quote, never quit. nearly 3 months after a snipers bulletin narrowly missed killing, the former president. trump train has returned to butler, pennsylvania, complete with higher security and merchandise commemorating the assassination attempt. on july 13 trump spoke defiantly about the events that day, which left him wounded in one of his supporters did. after a man with the rifle was able to take up position on a nearby rupe top and fire on the republican candidate as he addressed the crowd. for 30 seconds during the gunfire time stopped. as this vicious monster finalize your table from is snyder's perch. not so far away,
11:09 am
but by the hand of providence and the great you've got that villain did not particularly near you on most. it was the 1st appear instead of trump rally church listeners to tell everyone they knew to register to vote in frame the election as a less stand for american democracy. talked mega tech. people now know how and then make sure they actually do vote. if they don't, this will be the last election. that's my prediction. nothing is more important. trump campaign has lost some steam since his last trip to butler back then he was the head of president joe biden in the polls. now he's trailing vice president cumberland harris by a narrow margin. the voters here in pennsylvania. we'll have
11:10 am
a big se when election day comes from war. i'm joined by journalist william good craft deputy editor of parliament magazine. william, how much could eli mosques, appearance at trumps rally influence his chances, particularly among young male voters who seem to really admire musk as well? it does seem to be one of the strategies that the trump campaign is going after in it's, you know, net in that race with the harris campaign. because this election as many elections, at least in my lifetime, are really being decided on the margins, right? most people have made up their minds, most people have very strong opinions in one way or the other. so smaller groups, nice groups like young males owners, for example, and a very particular kind of young male motor that's turned on by the world of a lot. most americans sort of this tech,
11:11 am
no feudal vision that he has for american society could be energized to, to turn out the vote, especially in key places like more pennsylvania. and that is what this goes for the harris campaign as well. but that is what the trump campaign is really thinking of . the small groups in small ways could be those 2000 votes that are necessary to get one campaign of the over or the other over the finish line. very fascinating because you've been a long last with young male boaters on one side and possibly taylor swift with young female voters. it's a musk versus swift election in some ways. so must cause come kind of a long way given his previous criticisms of trump, right. he's gone 180. 0 yeah, i have a lot of uh, current from allies and these are all fair weather friends. uh trump himself loves to say that his, his priorities always doing business and making deals. and when you're making deals,
11:12 am
you're looking for people who don't have to be your best friends, but just a line whose interest is aligned, right? and so right now, a lot of money is seeing those interest aligning, whether it's any political ambitions he might have or just preserving his, his, uh, his, his is tact domain. and of course he wants, he of course, wants good relations with the government. he's under his, he's many companies under a lot of pressure, but in the united states and back here in the european union for misinformation, for a monopoly monopoly, monopolistic practices and these sorts of things. and so these are interest. so lining in 2016, a lot of us was not alone in discounting. and donald trump because they didn't think he had a shot, a real shot of becoming president, of course, all these years later, we know it's a very different situation. and you know, that gives people a reason to rethink their previous positions. what a lot of really things, what's really going on is in his head. just like donald trump, it's almost irrelevant. it's about what they're projecting. and the interest that
11:13 am
are aligning between these 2 individuals. and of course we also have to remember that j. d, vast, the vice presidential candidate with trump. uh once was a critic of trump as well. and has done perfect 180. yeah. so i mean, you mentioned this, i'm must, has promoted a conspiracy theories and this information on his social media platform x a. do we know the extent to which the platforms algorithms can or have influenced the election as well? of course, we won't know till the dye is cast in november, but there is a great amount of scrutiny of social media in general, right. the internet in general is, has become just successful for misinformation across all kinds of platforms. and there have been efforts, again, both the united states and the in the european union to try to police that a little bit. given a lot of us so called free speech declarations. of course, it's very much his idea of a free speech and free expression. and so twitter,
11:14 am
whatever we're calling in these days, and selection really is under a microscope for, for people who are interested in this and concerned about these, these issues. we saw that there's a i thought of twitters or x is had to be sort of re tool a bit when secretaries of state across the united states. and these are the people that are in charge of elections in the us, came out and criticized the information to missing information that this i chat plot was giving users on x, not directing users to official and trustworthy information about things like balance initiatives. and when people have to register to vote, and these kinds of rules to make sure people can both have access to actions. so x is under a lot of scrutiny, but of course it is by no means alone. facebook, youtube, all of these platforms. so it's a big open question, the extent to which they are policing, their platforms and all of these products, including ex, have laid off a lot of people that are needed to,
11:15 am
to do this kind of work. journalist william blue cross, thank you for joining us. and you are up to date. thanks for joining us. i'm alyssa john. good bye. it's the living independently. rise to our society is full of contrasts and any policy is a big many problems can only be solved by working together. yes, i think i pretend isn't misleading. what is home how do we tackle the major issues about time? let's do that. there is a significant risk of human extinction from advancing our systems.
