5 d, w, i hope that you will tune in the c w. this is available and it hasn't made up in some sense. this is dw news live from berlin, florida, braces for catastrophe, and what could be the storm of the century? waters from the gulf of mexico or surging a shore as tornadoes ripped through communities on the floor. it is west coast for cane. milton is due to make the land falls. shortly. millions have been ordered to evacuate as president, bite and warrens. it's a matter of life and death. also coming up the leaders of the us and israel discussed israel's plans for where it's highly ation for iran missile attack is rarely defense minister guidelines. warren's retaliation will be lethal. precise, surprised. the

and david lab, it's good to have you with us. hurricane milton is off the gulf coast of florida and is about to make land for the us weather service now says it's to wait for those who haven't left evacuation zones and that they should now shelter in place. earlier, tornadoes rips through the community of that matlab shay and other places in south west florida. leaving a trail of destruction and debrief millions of people were earlier told to leave florida as west coast for safety. the tampa bay area home to over 3000000 people is expected to see the worst of the storm. it's only been 2 weeks since the area was hit hard by the last deadly hurricane. and let's put, let's bring on some live images of what it looks like right at this moment. this
1:02 am
live feed is coming to us from fort myers. as you can see, it's bringing very strong winds and heavy rains. the storms tornado outbreak is already causing damage. and the storm surge is causing water levels to rise quickly . hundreds of thousands are already out of power. will of course keep you updated on the situation in the coming hours as the hurricane progresses. and dw reporter stuff on z months is in orlando, florida. stuff on this is moving faster. it's due to make landfall earlier than expected. what's the latest you can tell us. it's yeah. hours earlier than now. recently expected. it was supposed to be making landfall in the tampa bay area. sarasota area. uh, fort myers area about like 2 am local time the in the middle of the nights of its uh, wednesday and
1:03 am
a thursday right now. it's going to happen in one or 2 hours from now basically like in the evening, off today. and as you pointed out, the tornadoes, 17 confirmed touchdowns, $91.00 plus warnings issued the head of the storm before even made land phone. that's historic and it's all based now. we're in orlando wind gusts of picking up. you may, can see this in the back, the palm trees up spending more and more so in the course of the last 2 hours this intensified and the problem. what you probably can also see is what is hanging here before the palm trees. and these are power lines, so this is what the major concern is for people and for authorities here, those strong winds. because milton will still be category one when it hits orlando . and that's the other side of the states from where it makes actually a land fall originally will still be category one. and that means that lots of those power lines will come down and thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of millions of people we're looking at uh,
1:04 am
being without power, maybe for days, at least for hours to definitely for the, for perhaps also for days or even weeks. this can also happen, so it's now hunkering down as you said, wherever the store with it even here, there's no a, a, a mandatory request on the authorities, not to go out any more. stay where you are. don't go out. and that's where we are in orlando. know stuff on this. there's so many parts to the storm. there's the fast wins, the power outages, tornadoes, as we saw flooding expected, all over the states. what's the biggest concern? that's the biggest concern right now is the, is, is the flooding is the actually the, the wall of water which will push into the temper by area that's expected to be up to 15 feet. that is, that is really, really tall. on 6 feet, something a house is about an average house here in the us is about maybe 14 feet and this
1:05 am
will be a foot over this. so there will be says, there will be damage. there will be people who chose to stay and to, to write the storm out. well, unfortunately, that's what all the export. that's what all the officials say. there will be people dying to night when the storm surge hits the bay area of the beach as they are. and you know, for, for us here in orlando, for example, or for the entire path across the florida states that will be high wins, still 40506070 miles an hour category one, hurricane and 1st responders. and rescuers will not go out if the wind is not going down below 45 miles an hour. they don't even come. you can call 911, the emergency call and ask for help. they will recognize that you will call they will talk to you say, okay, we know you're in an emergency, but we can't send anybody else because we would risk lives as our of our 1st responders. and that's going to be the problem. flooding in orlando storm church at the coast. when tie, winds power has that power line down, trees down,
1:06 am
washed out streets, the whole, the whole enchilada if you will, is possible and is a concern for infirmity. and for people who live through this you for the next few hours and stuff on. we know that about 6000000 people were ordered to evacuate to we know how many people got out of those mandatory evacuation areas. what were you, what was this just that they are hopeful and positive that most of the people they asked to leave in flood zone or hurricanes on a, b and, and see those are the mandatory evacuation those that most of them got out and you know, or the traffic jams and the clock, the highways are speaking towards that, that may be, or hopefully most of the people got out there will be some who for whatever reason decide if they can write this out. we'll see about that. but i think the majority of those people have those $6000000.00, they are out, they have evacuated, they faced some obstacles, no gas the there's a gas shortage already,
1:07 am
of course in florida and they close it as far as our closing restaurants are closing, there is no food in, in many ways, and this is all obstacles and challenging thoughts. people made it out now. now it's time to hunker down for all of them. and most people are doing this. now they're waiting this out now and see what's going to happen and deal with that. then dw stuff on z months reporting from orlando florida for us. thank you. and stay safe. well, deadly storm searches and tornadoes aren't the only hazard facing the us and an address from the white house president bite and condemned miss information about hurricane relief efforts, including claims that the government was controlling the weather. those claims coming from some backers of republican presidential candidate donald trump bite and called him his information on americans. he also from america is looking out for one that's america. that's very best, that's who we are. so my final message tonight is to the people of florida and all
1:08 am
the impact of states. we've got your back, we've got your back. come on, i will be there for as long as it takes to rescue, recover and rebuild. so now let's talk some more about the false information spreading about hurricane milton and efforts to help victims of hurricane helene 2 weeks ago. brooklyn cowski is a journalist and this information expert. she joins me from san diego, brook, both president biden and vice president harris have denounced rumors about the government's response to the hurricanes. walk us through some of those rumors. well the rumors are that fema is killing people. there are rumors that the by the ministration is refusing to send aid. there is, there are rumors that there's, you know, operatives that are down on the ground in the are the areas that are been ravaged by hurricane uh, typically asheville, north carolina. um and you know,
1:09 am
many of these are the same rumors and just information that you see as or any kind of major disaster. and that's because they are specifically being circulated to make people less helpful and more just distrustful of the government. and you mentioned fema, that's the federal emergency response agency who exactly is spreading misinformation and different this information and why are they doing it or so um what i like to say in this case uh before you answer your questions, that the d is for the labor this is, this is an actual effort to, to cause problems on the ground. it is actually to deliberate effort and should be considered and attached. and the people who are reading this or the global bar, right, that would be a, was a donald trump here in the united states, members of the g o, p, but also members of the fluoride. and there was of the large, unfortunately, group of white supremacists that the united states seems to have. so all of these
1:10 am
folks talk to each other online and we're not messaging and so on online. and it's, they're ready to be deployed whenever there's a disaster, some sort when and also i should not go say this without mentioning the global aspect of it. there are also nations there off style to the united states and have been circulating this information probably. yeah. the specifically, the administration in, in russia, in particular. and there, i was like hungry and you were about and ministration. my members of those governments are also circulating this information in the united states. they have been, it is a well documented issue and it's always much worse when there's a major natural disaster like this. how does information does miss information and this information like what you're talking about, put people like in florida right now at a greater risk. oh absolutely. a huge range, i mean i saw something yesterday where um there was an evaluation map that was
1:11 am
getting circulated. it was very convincing. it was very real. you is deeply alarming. and it was showing that, you know, if you wanted to evacuate, you needed to go to, you know, several 100 miles away to any one of these neighboring states. you know, and, and the thing is people get, aren't big into accidents when they're evacuating, like they say they lose things. they panic, you know, they go into extreme um, emotional phase because this is really scary. tween a natural disaster is, is very frightening. so it causes more confusion, it can do to people and they need to find help. they don't know who to call and they don't trust their neighbors. they don't trust each other. they don't trust the government state, city, national. they don't trust anyone, or they trusted themselves and you know, presumably the saw file of guns that they have so hurting people who are already vulnerable in a vulnerable situation. a journalist and this information expert, brooke, brooke, binkowski,
1:12 am
thanks for your insights. thank you very much. us president joe biden and is really prime minister benjamin netanyahu have spoken on the phone for the 1st time and weeks is really official, say the talks focused on plans for a retaliatory strike on your run following its ballistic missile attack on israel last week. after the call is really defense minister you, i've got lunch. so the strike would be deadly precise and surprising. as w cheese international editor, richard walkers and washington, he told us more about the discussions between israel and the us regarding iran. what is clear from the us side is that they want to avoid israel's response of being escalade tree. that if we were getting to a tit for tat situation, which is a risk here, what's very important from the west coast back to visit those 2 for sat cycles. don't go, don't escalate,
1:13 am
they don't get more serious. but rather that there was an attempt to kind of dial down successively if there was going to be a tit for tat cycle here. so that is very much the, the us perspective and biden has even publicly adds these riley's not to go off to iran's nuclear program, which of course, is a major concern of these re lease. um also he suggested that he doesn't think it will be a good idea of for these, where i used to go off to iran, oil installations, so buying and kind of trying to, to, to, to rain and netanyahu that, and i think it's gonna be a real test of how bad that relationship has got to see what these, where your response is off to those warnings from bite and whether nothing yahoo respects those band reset bite in his set in public or whether he goes ahead and mounts and attack on that kind of level in any way, and i mean, as you mentioned earlier, i mean, we know that the relationship has been in difficulty. these 2 men have not been
1:14 am
getting on. they've had a difficult relationship for a long period that's, that's a pretty well reported. but of, as we've seen of the period last few months over and over again, we've seen a process of the, the americans trying to say, let's deescalate, let's try and find a seas find gaza. let's try and find a seas 5 with his blog. and each time the next yahoo government overstepping, i'm pushing ahead and saying no, we need to take these opportunities to to ensure our security. so real litmus tests, i think of the us is ready. relationship is we see what happens in this strike, which we assume could be imminent at this point. that was the deputies international chief editor richard walker. well, that's all for now, but keep it here on t w up next, an interview with namibian leader and then go, i'm going by the, on his country's cooperation with for when on clean energy. and his hopes that it will help communities affected by germany's colonial europe. atrocities and david
1:15 am
levitz, thanks for watching the power to kicks in the south china sea. i'm scared of the trees. why shapes are here? what this is supposed to mean as a hot level country to decades of chinese expansion is in the i'm in the nation is resisting with the support of a powerful ally. the philippines can definitely count on the united states, how some policies to pay to go and assign a set of sorts of tablets.
