the western media, i must of this war of attrition. the russians war in ukraine on prisons. frontline starts october 26th on d w. the this is dw news live from berlin is riley air strikes, claim more lives across 11 on 3 lebanese tv workers are killed when their compact is struck in the sides of the country. there among the growing death toll from israel's campaign targeting the around back to the bottom, looking group also coming up. so that in our opinion, isn't denying that north korean troops could help russia with it's more in ukraine . in an interview with dw whitehouse spokesperson, john kirby says it shows the crime and is quote, desperate for mine power and was kind of a harrison and donald trump locked in
10:01 am
a tight election every vote mattress. we looked at the 2 campaigns efforts to will latino voters, the problem found really as welcome to the program. lebanese media are reporting that 3 journalists have been killed and then is really airstrike in se, lab and on the countries. information minister has accused israel of deliberately targeting journalists in the attack, describing it as a war crime is right. the military planes have a building housing journalist in has by a near the syrian border as a continues it's war against the militant group. has paula the pro, around 11 east channel. my dean says a camera man and broad cost engineer were among the $3.00 killed. another broad cast or an are which is run by his boss,
10:02 am
says one of its photographers also died in the attack and the media say the is raining, military issued no warning ahead of the strike. you have the, i'm from. well, earlier i asked, don't use a re bureau chief mohammed tried to to tell us more about the is writing strike that killed 3 journalists. so it is confirmed that 3 to another swear, killed this morning and others the injured in, in this really strike on a small compound in house by yeah, east and depend on this compound is known to the hosting, turn the list for local and regional broadcast us since the, at least since the, so you the incursion uh, in the loop in on began last month at least 7 teams have been spending the night there since then. and um, you know, uh, according to journalists on site, the compound was completely destroyed overnight as they were sleeping has,
10:03 am
but yeah, the target, the region is the in eastern, depend on and is a prominently drew's time. and it's, you know, it hasn't been a target. so far so out this confrontation and the, the inhabitants of house by haven't evacuated their, their towns, unlike the neighboring towns in the area. this is the 3rd time is why it is directly targeting journalists or press teams since last october, since october last year. and that's when this will have killed the reuters to another, to sum up the law. and again in november, it killed 2 journalists, working for panel rob pro yvonne in the way of the info. acosta. and then we'll have to, israel continues to hit targets across to that, but not including the capital, a route where you are, give us the latest on the situation. yes, it was. you have to know the tough, nice here and be route as is why continues to strike. what he says is his beloved

for us structure and the southern suburbs of the woods, but also bumping elsewhere across the southern and east and live. and on some reports. this morning suggested that more than 100 as well in the air strikes have been recorded across the country in the last 24 hours. and in return, as the law said, 8 conductor, 27 minutes reopen patients against is right in the targets. this is becoming a daily routine as to what escalates between is playing and has below it. clearly noticing that the closer we get as, as, as you know, as we get closer to the expected this, right, you need retaliation on a ron. this front end of been on is further heating up and the conflict parties are stepping away from a to magic solution. thanks to that update my how much detail using how much right to joining us from a root. ukraine says that north korean troops have been deployed to russia's
10:05 am
western course region. that's according to ukraine's military intelligence service course. case where you cranium forces staged a cross border incursion into russia. back in august, seizing a chunk of territory, south korea, nato, and the usa. thousands of north korean troops. i've been training for combat in rushes east in recent weeks. this ve, dear, according to ukraine, shows no screen soldiers at the training ground in rushes far east. they are wearing what appears to be russian military uniform, potentially preparing to fight in ukraine. keith says the 1st north korean soldiers have already been deployed to russia's best and of course, screeching to come to ukraine's cross border offensive. this comes as russia ratified a defense treaty with north korea. the treat to pledge just mutual assistance by the country is attacked by the way in the struggle. say it's it,
10:06 am
i'm not sure with me. my machine is for our relations with the democratic people's republic of korea. so as you know, to go to aust of teaching partnership treaty was rectified only today. but i'm just the to this article for addressing never doubted that north korea is serious about dressing corporation. see what i'll tell you, but what we will do the most and how we will do it is that it's our business. no, i store it. got them when we didn't diligence it was, you know, should do. rush was president sledging the ports and has neither consent, no denied the presence of the most korean soldiers and russians could, i mean uses to eat. but she offered a vague comment on the satellite images, allegedly showing north korean personnel at the russian military facilities. you images are a serious thing and if the image is then that reflects something that showed that according to the us, this reflects rushed us weakness on the battle ground. or this really highlights
10:07 am
the rushes desperation. um you know, 10 coming to the dpr k to a ron enticing dpr k soldiers. you know, if, if they were to ever enter the fight, i think that shows that pollutant has failed and his strategic objectives on the battlefield. and this is something that the metaphor to strongly disagree. swift. boynton says it's an illusion that russia could be to sit on the battlefield. the dw spoke with wide eyes national security spokesperson, john kirby. and he gave us the us as reaction to these developments. make no mistake. this is a concerning development, the potential for north korean soldiers to be used by russia to fight ukraine. whether they'll do that in russia, whether they'll do that in ukraine, we don't know right now. the other thing it shows us is how desperate mister, prove this for manpower, i mean, he's losing $1200.00 russian soldiers per day. and over the course of this war,
10:08 am
more than flat 530000 casualties russian casualties. and it's not like he's being very honest with the russian people about the losses that he has sustained in this fight. um, so it's a definite sign of weakness. no question about that. but again, we're going to talk to allies and partners, and we'll have more st coming days about what options may may lay before us. to do these ukraine correspondent economy told me whether the ukraine government shares that the opinion that russia is getting desperate. i mean, certainly it is getting harder for russia to recruit people to fight to new crane. they have to pay more money. there are even discussions in russia. oh, you know kind of briefings, you get the sense that they are considering, mobilizing people, something they've tried to avoid doing, trying and search to get people to come fight with financial enticements. but there is also another element that people are kind of talking about hearing key of, and that is especially ahead of these use selections approaches doing all he can to
10:09 am
make it look like. basically, ukraine's fight is hopeless that he has unlimited results. he's left to go and that he can now tapping potentially into this huge military kind of support pool from north korea. not just in terms of missiles and amunition as has previously been the case, but now in terms of boots in the ground. so he's really, you know, dining up everything he has to try and make a rush's progress look as kind of certain and is limitless as possible in the hope that, that kind of beats down. and you kind of the morale among countries trying to support you guys, especially in washington and within your 1st 50. uh and you us government to then dial down support and to basically force ukraine to come to negotiations over systems make ukraine says that the 1st group of north koreans have already arrived in course. so if that actually proves to be the case, how big of a boost would it be for the russian army in that region?
10:10 am
the numbers we're looking at for now are still pretty small. so we've seen up to $3000.00 being discussed in some of the south korean intelligence reports talking about took out a total of just above $10000.00 expected potentially by the end of the year to compare that to the size of the russian army right now, which is many, many, hundreds of thousands of it is not going to be comparable, isn't going to make a huge difference. i think it is discussing public importance. i don't see those free up russian troops. if you know, if the north koreans take your positions and codes, because then that allows us to send to manpower to uh, domestic leasing ukraine. but i think you need to look at this more widely in terms of material in terms of i'm interested supplies. no career has been changed. there was one estimate by western intelligence sources saying that hoff the shells fired by russia could potentially be north korean origin. most people here and key of say that actually knows agree on it. so it is pretty much as effective and allied to rochelle. bit probably for money and for yeah, not for free. as most western countries altogether for you, craig, this is
10:11 am
a country that basically has come to the agreement with russia and the supplying we see is that like images of ships going into rush or of trains caring, amunition, i'm you hear me. i tell these people, hearing ukraine say, basically a couple of weeks off to those are munition trains reach russia. you see a huge kind of uptake and fighting the front lines because basically russia is now so dependent on north korea, north korea is able to provide at the scale that lots of western countries are now looking at it from the perspective of that ukraine. what is keith doing to do with this development anymore? so i think there is a sense that this is really something that will get world's attention that lots of other recent developments front lines have struggled to keep people's attention internationally. but this is something that really is a new quote to this war. and then there is obviously the factor of south korea and all this south korea is, you know, the west and i like country that is basically best prepared for the kind of war that russia is fighting in ukraine right now of south korea. never really. and did
10:12 am
the cold war, you know, they have been in your expectation of an invasion from the north for decades. and they can provide weapons. and i mean, obviously scale. we've seen poland remaining of ukraine in the neighboring countries getting low supplies. and so there's a hope that software will reply and restore ukraine in a way that really make a difference. a hi snake for that of don't use ukraine correspondent and economy joining us in case us presidential candidates. donald trump and carla harris are writing in swing states where the latest polls show a tight race between the 2 parties ahead of the november 5th election. donald trump took to the stage and the key buffalo grand state of nevada, to give a speech focused on tax coats and immigration. harris's campaigning in the swing state of georgia, where she emphasized her middle class routes. former us president park obama and rock legend to free springsteen joined her in atlanta for a final push for votes. for more on joint nearby dw
10:13 am
reporter, i mean east of here in the studio. i mean great to see you. so this is a pretty tough question to ask you about leading in the polls, considering that were less than 2 weeks now from november, 5th, paris or trump, whose favorite twin yeah, was getting tighter and tighter. the latest polls showed that harris is still up by a couple of points. she's at $48.00 to donald trump, $46.00, but that's the popular vote. don't forget, the us doesn't vote directly for the president. they have an electoral college system, which means you have to win the most electoral college votes. those are based on states. that's why we see pears and trump campaign in swing states. and in that case, um pollster is the, the, the leading culture isn't us actually give trump an advantage there. they say that he has about a 52 percent chance of winning the election by getting the most electoral college rhodes, which is the only important thing for the presidential candidates. and that's because his, while his national lead, as national disadvantages narrowing into and,
10:14 am
and kind of colliding with harris on the charts there. his lead in swing states more than swing states is even more narrowing. or he's gaining an advantage in states where he is predicted to win. and that means places like arizona or nevada, which may have gone for harris a few months ago, are now looking more like they're going for trunk, super tight. stay there for a 2nd now because we're going to talk about a specific voter ad group. looking at this camera, at the 65000000 self identified latinos in the united states, they make up around 15 percent of eligible voters. and they could play a key role in the swing states. so both democratic and republican campaigns are buying for their support. let's take a look at this report. my buddy is an immigration attorney living in miami. she was born in the dominican republic, a move to the us in the 90s. she supports donald trump district immigration policies and doesn't see a contradiction with what the controversy comes from integration our journey is
10:15 am
that one who would be taking o, taking phone calls from overseas to have somebody come to the united states equally . so at that point, that's not an immigration attorney, that's joseph can yada, yada echo yelton with a title with the clients and in her law some office. the attorney also opened the support. so candidate, however, might have rejects categorizing photos based on the backgrounds as a lawyer, she believes that the one second does trudy, the sizes they look like. all of that is no, not the no vote ladies americans vote in and that this american melting pot, there were a lot pianos that are voiding that blacks, that i'm going women that are born. there is no volt that have to be it, put it in some sort of a box on the other side of the country, close to san francisco list. i mean the session. she left mexico with
10:16 am
a family 50 years ago to start a new life in the us from when you had where, cuz to winery own us, the 2nd time of the accomplish what many immigrant farm workers are unable to. despite the hardware, that's why installation living costs or health care and put, and for many latinos, despite political divisions, amelia sheriffs. myra few voting isn't about heritage. we all want the same thing for our families, that they're safe, their shelter. they have no food and access to an education. we all of us universally once once a year during the hispanic heritage months. the session, so many organized as a wind says to celebrate their culture and share it with others. next again. but i feel like home in my adopted country and i've embrace everything that is really wonderful about the culture embracing to cautious,
10:17 am
feeling that many latinos in the united states can relate to. so back to you, i mean, how could the latino vote sway this election? this year, well, there's 2 trends. look out for the 1st one is that the number of voters identify as latino or latino has increased over the past several years. and it's now about one 5th of us, a voting population, which is a pretty sizable chunk. the other thing is that democrats are kind of losing their advantage among this group of board voters, if you want to call it that democrats have always been able to count on roughly 60 percent of the latino voting block. but what we've seen is that since obama, who 170 percent of that building block, the trend has gone in the opposite direction. harris has now is only at pulling at around $56.00 or 57 percent among latino voters versus 37 percent for donald trump
10:18 am
. that's not quite george bush's all time record. if you want to put it that way in 2004, he was the republican candidate in 2041 that election and he got around 40 percent of the latino vote. but what we are seeing is that democrats advantage in this building block is slipping, and that's a big deal for democrats. and of course the latino vote we. we talk about the latino vote, but it's, it's not really one block. it's a complex at group of people. um, as you said, quite a significant percentage now in the united states. so how are the candidates dealing with that and how are they appealing to a group, which is, you know, very varied. we'll say, right. it all comes down to data, and that's a very abstract thing in a campaign when you're trying to reach people's emotions, like we were talking about earlier. for some people that you know means even immigrants from spain and that's obviously different. then i'm a asylum seeker from venezuela or cuba, for example, some tend to be very conservative. some tend to be even socialist. so you can't
10:19 am
really look at it as a solid block. we saw that and report as well. but what we have seen is that their views differ slightly from the national population, but generally comma harris and donald trump. this campaign, this election are trying to talk to them as they want to be seen for most of them as american voters. so economy is a huge thing and obviously there's different opinions about how to solve the problems and the economy come with harris is looking more towards a more housing, more jobs, and using tax money to do good things from is are struggling. where's donald trump is working more cutting taxes, helping small business owners. and yeah, and immigration is not really what they're using to appeal to hispanic and latino voters. well, let's talk about the topic of immigration because donald trump has a, let's say, made some pretty harsh and strong comments with regards to immigration over the years. and so how can you still appeal to latino is considering what we have heard
10:20 am
from donald trump? yeah, you see in a riley's calling in regards animals and rapist, what's very interesting is that pull show that most latino voters, even those born over overseas. so in immigrants who came in 1st generation immigrants are immigrants, themselves, they don't think that trump is talking about them. so this happens all over the world, and we're going to make it successful in a country, then want to keep an advantage and don't want more immigrants coming in to compete with the precarious thing to be an immigrant in a country, especially if there's racism. and it's difficult to get jobs, so they want to protect their status. what that's what you see often. and a lot of people, as i said, was he knows both the way that americans vote generally. and they're looking more at their daily bread, the economy. how side health care, things like this fascinating stuff there. i mean, thanks for breaking it down for us. and of course we're all going to be keeping a really close eye on what's going to be happening over the exact closer, getting closer and closer. and it'll be really interesting to see what comes out of
