working in this vibrant and welcoming countries with free of charge access to expert advice and excellent job opportunities. starts in new jersey now on korea's for germany dot com the. this is the w news from brielle in germany is trans, less stands up to his opponents in parliament as he fights to keep his jo. what of charlotte says there is plenty of what to do before the end of the year, despite his government collapsing last week. he promises a verse of confidence next month to open the way for us not selection in february. will say coming up on the program, us president elect donald trump points 11 months to lead what's being called a department of government efficiency or dosage. it's a mr. flush government regulations spending month says he's going to make
5:01 pm
government fund again. and the us secretary of state helps me blink and says, israel needs to implement real and extended pauses in dollars to allow more aid into the strip. but this comes just hours off to the white house, says it will not hold up lessons deliveries to israel, the money to this, mckinnon. welcome to the program. germany's and thoughtful chancellor has challenged parliament to keep working despite the collapse of his governing coalition. while i fell, it's pledge to hold a confidence vote next month to make way for snap elections in february. but he urged old policies to pos measures such as a child benefit height and an increase in tax thresholds. in the meantime, here's some of what he said on this up, this minor festive. that's how i go. i firmly believe that we should use the time.
5:02 pm
we now have enough to jointly pass important laws, laws for our citizens that cannot be delayed laws. that's a necessary i believe we must show the country the we can do this until the political correspondent. brent joins me here in the studio now to talk about what we heard from all efforts today. so hans, talk to us about his main messages, but as a pool he was talking to parliament, but he was also talking to the central vote as well for me. okay, part of the message was let's try and keep working until the new election. that's trying to make sure that this is not a line doc. parliament that we can convince. but to show that it is that we are still able to act, that was still able to positive those that are of crucial importance. of course, there are a couple of laws that to will most likely not be passed, including a budget for next year because they would need a agreement by the opposition. and this is the kind of little that the opposition
5:03 pm
would not agree to about opposition. leaders did say that they are a couple of laws that have been pre, being prepared over the last few months. that was in fact the past and the next few weeks and a couple of months. and then charles address to the voters indeed. and basically what he was saying is that he would try to ensure and future and all and, and future that there was not a kind of either or alternative between spending money on things such as security, but not on social security, spending money on helping ukraine. but knocked on improving infrastructure in germany. you know, these kinds of either alternatives should not be the core of the government from both. rather, both of these, both these goals of governing. she'll be possible it should be possible to combine them. so really, who's saying if the people continue to elect the sessions,
5:04 pm
democrats to vote for the social democrats and basically the pensions uh secured to the unemployment insurance will be insured. the health insurance will be insured, is that kind of classic social democratic offering that he made to badges today. okay. so given that the election is going to be happening next february, did you, you know, get the sense that campaigning has started already pro so absolutely, yes, yes, it was a, they were obviously attacks on the opposition, especially old. so on the policy that left his government now that led to the collects of collapse of the government, the liberal, free to free democrats by the law. so i'm looking more conservative opposition. at the same time, charles did say that not only do we need corporation all in this parliament where he has on the, on the dollar t is in a minority government cooperation between old democratic policies. but he started even off to the election. the kind of cooperation will be necessary and indeed this
5:05 pm
very likely to be another coalition government. but with some most likely the conservatives in the lead. still, they will have to agree then with other policies as well. okay, we'll have to leave it the hands, but thank you so much for that. the w's political correspondent has brunt. now us president elect donald trump, has appointed the c e. o of tesla a loan mosque. i'm the former republican candidate that they run the swami to lead what is being called the department of government efficiency. trump said the new department will advise the administration on dismantling the federal bureaucracy from outside the government. now this would mean, but neither mosque nor on a swami would be bound by federal essex rules mosque, celebrated the appointment on his social media platform, ex and provost. all the departments work would be posted online for transparency
5:06 pm
as we can get more on what's happening in the us from dw report and steven eventually get to see stevens. so if all of this goes ahead, elan mosque would be advising the administration from outside of the government and that means that he wouldn't be bound by any ethics rules, wasn't it? so, you know, give us an overview of, of the risks of an appointment like this. we just, the key word is that this would be advisory, right? so it would exist outside of the government to work with the governments. what's confusing us all is the word departments release it, confused me at the beginning because the department is usually something that's enacted by congress is budgeted by congress and then whoever leaves that department has to be, their nomination has to be approved by congress. and so i think in this case probably the part was taken just for the acronym, those d o g e, which is of course, affiliated with the currency that's closely tied to the lawn mosque. so the joke is already in play here. in all seriousness, what this means is still sort of hard to scrutinize. will this be something that
5:07 pm
has a staff? what have a budget? in what sense is it going to be advisory? is that going to list options for the congress for their next budget? because they ultimately have the purse strings when it comes to how much money is there for each department, and then how many people they hire. and then all these cabinet positions that trump is announcing right now, all of these individuals are going to leave these apartments. are they going to be happy being told, well, slash 10 percent slash 20 percent of your department? so i guess there's some, there's some real questions from the forefront and of course not least among them is must relationship with the federal government already, which is what you're looting through with an ethics question. and that is through space x, of course, billions of dollars already is what space x has received in the past years to work with nasa in particular that remains to be seen. i would imagine that the argument here will be, we're not bound by government rules, and the sense that we're only there as an advisory capacity. everything is transparent. you can take our recommendations or you can leave them. so we'll have to see how all this plays out. another check on that is of course the congress. they again get to allocate the money to prove these rules or not. i also is to ask
5:08 pm
you about the man that trump has nominated to. so the secretary of defense has been making headlines. so of course this would be the person who would run the pen, took on, you know, would lead $1300000.00 active duty troops. and that is a fox news host, an army investor and these cold pete excess tell us more about him. pete hexa is a tv personality and has been a tv personality for fox news for the past 2 years. this is a network of course that for those who don't know as closely aligned with conservative causes and in the last few years more and more with conservative, populism, i should say probably last 8910 years ever since trump really came up, there were big support of trump and heck stuff was there for most of the way to cheer on and rally on trump. he doesn't have any government experience. he was, is an army veteran. he served overseas in afghanistan or iraq. i forget. and so he has some claim to knowledge about the military, but of course,
5:09 pm
the military bureaucracy is a totally different order than just being in the military. and i think this is probably one of the more shocking announcements that we've had so far. there's still some less, so we'll see what happens. but we haven't, we have seen this before. the trump tends to go to personality, see liens on personalities. larry called low, for example. you also called into the government during this 1st administration, another fox personality. so i think there's gonna be a lot of consternation. i think we may see that play out during the nomination process the confirmation process in the senate. now remember, the republicans have control of the senate. but as we saw in 2016 when they also had control the center, they have had some trouble getting nominees through some of the more radical ones through. and he would definitely so far be among the most radical one more thing on . yet he is known for supporting several military service members accuse. and once he's convicted of war crimes, when they were deployed and they were going to be punished by their respective branches and he spoke out on their behalf. so the trump should intervene during his 1st term, make sure that they weren't mishandled or missed treated by,
5:10 pm
by the respect of services and trump did intervene. so he really made his is cause us liberty caused right there. and he supported this very much and bain with this kind of conservative populism. steven, just briefly in, in summary, what we're seeing from trumps, you know, pick so far. tell us what your thoughts are about his future cabinet. i think stuff is the one that sticks out right now is being a bit radical. i think there's a sigh of relief from any quarters of the world. or if they saw marco rubio picks for or least the rumors are, we should say that he's going to be secretary of state. i'm not sure if that's been confirmed. also, mike waltz for national security advisor. these are 2 key roles that will tell that will be in trouble a year, often times about what's going on around the world. i think there's a lot of relief they are concerned about hexa. and then we really have to see with 2 big ones standing out secretary of education and then health and human services, our kids, you and your looming, they're in the background. big vaccine skeptics has had a lot of crazy conspiracy theories. and in the last few years, and trump has promised him some sort of role. we'll see if it's
5:11 pm
a must kind of condition role or if it's going to be something more serious. all right, we'll be watching closely. dw steven bits may steve, and thank you so much. i of the. all right, we're going to take a look now at some of the other stories making headlines today. and the us top diplomat times ne, blinking is in brussels, assuring allies that washington will ramp up support from a so and ukraine before donald trump returns to the white house, he reiterated a call for european allies, excuse me, to increase their own support. president elect donald trump has questioned both u. s. military ac ukraine on the fitness of the nato alliance is ready, military has struck, they roots southern. so that's just an hour after giving an evacuation warning. now this strikes comes off to 11 on his health ministry, said israel had also been bought at an apartment building south since a route killing at least 6 people. the that area is outside of the hezbollah

militias, the traditional strongholds and ukrainian so taken shelter in the metro is beneath . keep off to rush out, launched its 1st missile attacks on the capital. in more than 2 months. russia has been ramping up during a tax on key for weeks. ukrainian authorities say moscow is likely building up to a and i quote, a massive attack on energy infrastructure as winter settled in now and to be blinked in the us. secretary of state has cooled on his rail to implement what he called real and extended pauses in garza to allow a deliveries to the strips were ravaged population. he made the comment soft, amazing, with nato leaders in brussels. earlier washington announced it would continue to send to israel, saying that they had been limited to improvements in a deliveries to go into the kids to theme crossing from is real into gaza.
