4:00 am
we see such a result in the form of suicide, well, in fact, i would still recommend paying attention to the child's behavior, and every mother, every parent knows where the child behaves naturally, and where his behavior is already out of line some kind of framework, and it can be like withdrawal, it can be refusal of food, sleep disturbances there, there are a lot of factors that affect these things, and i think in such cases you need to consult a specialist, because it a problem that can only be solved specialist, and we as parents should not press, as parents, the school has this problem , let's say so, select and send to work as a specialist, ms. tetyana, now the country is extremely... a difficult situation and children
4:01 am
are, of course, experiencing the war in their own way, as well as now many students have left distance learning, from online learning, and several factors can overlap here, on the one hand, the threat of rocket attacks and war, which in a certain sense disturbs children, they feel constant anxiety and often do not sleep well, and so the new load itself to study, from which they already...' well, let's be honest, we're a little weaned , some people associate such factors as learning difficulties now with such possible causes of child and adolescent suicides, what do you think about this, and can a teacher control such risks, i think that, in fact, there are certain risks, because of the situation... which constantly surrounds us, and
4:02 am
past problems, yes, which related to the covid epidemic, now is wartime, and we, as educators, as parents, it is necessary to implement well, probably this idea and to support and help the child, that both in war and in life, good wins, and we have our task... adults and educators, to return this faith to children, and for this you do not need any special tools, this is where, you know, such human values are in effect, and this is care, attention, love, everything that we can give, well, you must have analyzed , after all, if this is such a depressive state that can lead to suicide, after all , about some markers , so by which we can understand, we understand that every parent knows your child is better, however... you said

refusal to eat, yes, there may also be insomnia, but just for our viewers, this is very important, please name it, name it again, yes, this is aggressive behavior, also, if the child, if it's in an educational institution , the child can lose motivation to study , stop communicating with peers, he can, i don't know, not attend classes, that is , such factors, er, and the last one, in conclusion. tatyana, is there any specific question that you need to ask your parents, your own to the child, just now, if they suspect that the child has suicidal thoughts , that's right, i do, i think that it is not necessary, first of all , for parents to be afraid of their emotions, or not to show them, and normally, calmly communicate with the child on a topic that worries them, and only in this way of openness and love can we find understanding and can
4:04 am
, as it were, demonstrate an adult attitude. thank you for trying to help us understand such a very difficult topic, well, we hope that there will be no need to return to it, let's say, at least in the context of these waves suicide, however, we understand that it is still necessary to monitor, talk to your children, monitor their condition. thank you ms. tatyana for helping. to understand such an extremely complex topic , we hope that there will be no occasion to return to it in the context of mass suicides of children, but remember, friends, that monitoring the state of health, mental health, in particular of your own child, is simply necessary in order to prevent tragic incidents in in the future thank you ms. tetyana, tetyana serebryanska, teacher-psychologist, joined our broadcast. and also thank you to our viewers who have been watching us for the last hour, yasya lepka and oleksiy homan worked for you. see you for now

4:09 am
a guest olesya yaskevich, the founder of a charitable organization that helps children with disabilities and their parents. olesya yaskevich, special. brugynya, the founder and head of the public organization see with the heart. together with the team, olesya helps children, teenagers and young people with disabilities, creating projects for their socialization, raising a blind son who was diagnosed with epilepsy and autism. from my own experience , i felt that society has a hard time accepting children with disabilities. together with other parents of children with disabilities, olesya arranged various meetings and picnics. in 2014 , she founded a public organization, and since 2016 , the team to see with the heart organizes an inclusive space camp for children every summer. this year's camp participants are children with disabilities, displaced children, children who have lost a loved one parents as a result of russian aggression.
4:10 am
and so i want to start with the space camp right away, because i, i also liked the name, to be honest, in general, how did the idea to hold this... such an event, or i don't know how to call it correctly, a project, yes, a project, for children, actually, again, this is my personal story, i have a son who has a severe, complex form of disability. and a few years ago, for some reason i thought so, and why do all children have a camp, there is an opportunity for this experience, when in the summer one goes to a camp without parents, there is a daytime, 24-hour camp, in madvia there is no such possibility, only because he has a disability, and it seemed to me that it was somehow super unfair, then i began to look for something similar in kyiv or in ukraine in general, and somehow, unfortunately, there was nothing from the fact that i definitely wanted to send a child there, and then i tried to do... the first such camp we made on our own, it was such a small local camp for 25 children, we had children with
4:11 am
disabilities, children without disabilities, and after spending a whole a month, because it was a project for a month, we watched them change with them children, how their parents change, and we realized that it should be structured and next year be done on a larger scale, more fun, more cool for more children, and since then, this was the first camp we had in 2016, each year we hold it, every year we take a lot of children, almost 100-120, ah , before it was from different parts of ukraine, they even came to us, this year, it is only kyiv and the kyiv region, but even this year we managed to conduct it, but today just in the morning we already had graduation the party, yes, this morning was, and here's how it goes, it's like in classic camps, the children are also very sad that they have to go home, in fact, very... the children are sad, the parents are very sad, because for many
4:12 am
children, it was the first time in my life, this, the first time in my life, the opportunity to be in a different environment , to be among my peers, to have a great summer with my friends, cool friends, some master classes, parties, quests, for parents, children with disabilities , for many, it was also the first opportunity in their lives to experience themselves as conditionally ordinary parents, that is, when they bring the child in the morning, happy ones take it away in the evening. covered in sequins, i don't know, it's all messed up, but the kids are happy, and that's the rhythm we lived this year, the camp lasted three weeks, and today we had the final party, we're at camp planets, because it's space camp, everyone the planets prepared their numbers, they performed today, we had such a mini-concert, it was very sincere that the parents also prepared a number, they sang a song, they read poems, and in this way they showed their gratitude, of course, we cried a lot, because, well, but they were like that...' for sincere joy and sadness, cool, you said that this is the first time for some children
4:13 am
the opportunity to be with their peers, and why yes, why this, i know that there are some children who do it for the first time at 12-13 years old, 15, eh, why before that, there is no such opportunity, but come on, let's go now without all the rose-colored glasses, let's not pretend that we are looking there for some reason, because in principle we have never had, it is customary to notice children who are different, everyone knows that they are somewhere, but they are there somewhere, and it is desirable that they are not here, because they are kind of strange, they look somehow different, they speak differently, they manifest some their emotions, and of course that people are afraid of what they do not know, and very often pretend that it does not exist, and the older children with disabilities, with behavioral and developmental peculiarities become, the more difficult it is, in principle, for them to fit into a group and in principle, society does not accept them, because it is considered that they are some kind of strange children
4:14 am
they will be there in some special schools, in special camps, in special, i don't know, in some institutions, and in fact, we are talking about inclusion, and inclusion, well, conditionally, is when everything is for everyone, when any child she can come to any institution, any camp and she, well, she should have a good time and it should be like that, in ukraine it’s not like that, well, let’s be honest, it’s not like that, a child with complex developmental disorders can’t come to any and i don't know any school, i don't know there is an event there and everyone will perceive it as okay class, it's okay, of course they will look at her, of course they will pay more attention to her, but sometimes it's such negative attention, so returning to the question of why it happens that children are already teenagers at 13-15 years old, for the first time they find themselves in such a community environment where they are accepted, it is only because we are conditionally as a society so far, we are not... ready to accept those who are different, we have local, yes, not bad, there are local projects, there are local, i don't know, some
4:15 am
establishments, most likely, where it happens, and what to say at the level of our consciousness, it is not there yet, we do not yet accept people who are different, we still turn our eyes away from those who somehow behave differently, but it seems to me that we are now living in such a time when it is we just don't allow it to be done, guys come back from the war every day with various injuries, from their native form, disabilities, and we still, too, i see how we still turn our eyes away from guys who don't have arms and legs, as if nothing happened, and it can't be like that, now it's elementary, because just in elementary gratitude for. we should at least look them in the eyes and thank them in a basic way, and of course we should adjust our environment so that any person can enter any coffee shop, any, i don't know, sure, use any service, it's not available now, unfortunately, not yet, but i really hope that we dogo, we, we are not what we become, we are already on this path, but we need to speed it up a little bit way,
4:16 am
and you know, and on the one hand, of course, that i am pleased that such attention is paid to our project is. many guests come to us, take pictures and are surprised, wow, how cool, but actually it surprises me, because that's how it should be, it's like that, you know, well, inclusion, it should already be in our dna, it will already be, well, like , we don’t need to talk about it anymore, because if we talk about it, it means that it doesn’t exist yet, it needs to be voiced and explained, but i very sincerely want to believe that we are already on that path, when we have already accelerated a little, there are two moments of inclusion, the technical aspect, yes, we understand that it is possible to install all... me it seems that the most important thing is the moral aspect of all this , because it is barbaric when parents do not allow a child, say without a disability, without defects, to communicate with a child with a disability, or even frighten them
4:17 am
in some way, i have met such a thing, how can this be , i don't understand, it's elementary. you know, we still have such a firmware of the soviet union , in which there were no people with disabilities, but they were not there, because they were in boarding schools, they were locked up somewhere, for example, in my childhood, i did not know that there are people from with a disability, i never saw there, i don't know, before the age of 17, i guess i didn't see people who were different, and when i first saw a person with a disability, of course i thought, well, of course, there's something wrong with her, but again after all, because of some stereotype, because what is the stereotype that children with disabilities are born where, in which families? a few of them, well, not very prosperous there, let’s say so, and unfortunately, we are now living in the 23rd year, and this still persists, parents of children who do not have disabilities, they are somehow there, ah, no they are lost, but again they pretend that it is not there, or they do not even allow the child to communicate, i also had an example,
4:18 am
many years ago, we were at the book arsenal with matvii, and matvii is blind, he walks with a white cane, and of course , what does it turn... the look and we were standing looking at some books, i hear a little boy behind me, probably about five years old, i ask my mother: mom, what kind of white stick is that boy has, and i became curious, what is the mother on it will answer, and mom is like that, listen, quietly, tomy naskatil, let's go, what a minesweeper, it’s true, i couldn’t remain silent, i turned around and said, i’m sorry, i went back to the third , they explain, this boy, he’s just blind, he can’t see with his eyes, but he has a special cane with the help of which he puts himself forward so that he will be safe there, and what did my mother say, what did you tell him to do, he will be afraid now, and why do you tell such horrors to the children, and this is my searcher, and this is normal, it must have been there years, this is a terrible example, and it seems to me that this, maybe this is my opinion, but this is still a soviet legacy, when
4:19 am
people there after the second world war, crippled disabled people were simply gathered around the cities and taken somewhere so that they would not get sick...' you said that after the space camp, both parents and children change a lot , what is the main change, you know, first of all, if we talk about parents, they look at their children differently, they understand that children are capable of much more, because when a child stays for a whole week, there for a whole three weeks without parents, well i mean from monday to friday. this is not a camp nocturnal, but still they are constantly surrounded by other people, and with the child, the child turns out to be able to be independent, he turns out to be able to communicate, interact somehow with other people, and the parents see that not everything is so bad, in fact, but with the parents there is an opportunity to breathe a little, because if we are talking about parents, children with disabilities, or children who have complex developmental disorders, then
4:20 am
as a rule it is, well, as a rule it is mothers, they are with them in 2014, they do not have the possibility of days off, quarantines, i don't know, some holidays, and during this time, maybe for the first time in their life, they pay attention to themselves, maybe they go to the doctor, some of them can go to the cinema, go to the store, but they pay a little attention to themselves, and you know, it gives a very big resource for parents for that , so that you know how it can be a new breath of air and further it can be, to the camp we constantly invite guests, volunteers, friends who conduct master classes, and this is not from such a group of special psychologists, that is, they are completely different people who simply respond this one philosophy, these values, and this is also a very cool example, because they just come and many of them have some kind of... well , fear, or someone comes, starts crying, well, that's the first reaction, because there are a lot of children
4:21 am
, a lot of different children with complex forms of disability, without disability, when you see that they are all together and they are dancing to ramstein, you understand, maybe something is wrong with me, why am i crying, why am i sorry, because it's like ok , and then they take it and carry it on, you know, become like that conditionally as agents of change, and they then understand that, in principle, interacting with a child or with ... a person with a disability does not require special education, it requires a little more patience, perhaps tolerance, empathy, some kind of inner sensitivity , in order to simply allow a person to be himself, and not expect that he should be the way i expect him to be, you know, in the soviet union, everyone should be beautiful, equal, healthy, i don't know what they are there should have been, we are all different, and that's ok, and that's cool, and it's great to learn to perceive us as such, and it seems to me that this is exactly what tabir is about, that we are all different and we can be next to each other, and these criteria are important for the team, it's right that you just need to treat these children normally
4:22 am
, or how do you select a team in general, because i understand how confident parents have to be, yes, they bring their child, with, as you said 24 hours a day, that mother will be afraid of this child into some unknown world, unknown to people to give what they should be able to... people who in your team also, well, let's say this, almost like a star from the sky, they should also be able to, of course, i'm joking, but in fact, we always select a team from people who are not from our group, conditionally, that is, i repeat again, these are not special teachers, where these are not psychologists, that is, we attract people to whom it resonates, and many of them just adjust their vacations, for this month , in order to come and just work, and they always say, we come to help, in the end it turns out , that they themselves needed help because of some things they rise in them, which somehow you know, there is such a thing, and of course, yes, we have certain
4:23 am
criteria according to which we are judged, first it is a questionnaire, then another questionnaire, then an interview, that is, not everyone passes these filters, there you have to answer, something , somehow, we give some tasks, then it’s a seven-day training, then such an impromptu assessment , and then they immediately start working, and in fact... not everyone reaches the end of this training marathon either, many come, you know, with such a feeling, and i will save now the whole world, i'm cool, we're looking for love all over the world now, but it doesn't really work like that, because it's all cool, but we always say that space camp is one story, when we see beautiful photos and videos on social networks, and another the story is what is behind these photos on social networks , it is screams, tantrums for diapers in epileptic attacks , some aggression, self-aggression, self-stimulation, and therefore we do not broadcast it, but it is there, and we honestly talk about it at training , that we should
4:24 am
be ready for this, and we had one, for example by some chance, a girl came to us, she was studying to be a special teacher, she was already in the third year of our university , she completed her studies, she had such doubts, but when she moved, she left on the first day of the camp, she did not return after that, she said , that i can't, it's not mine, i won't be able to, and after that she took the documents from the university and it's cool actually, because she's true, she, well, at least she didn't lose any of her years, she went to work where exactly her, and she did not harm the children she was with worked, because even if she worked, it was still because of some kind of rejection , aggression, children feel it very cool, it is much worse, in fact, it was worse, i also wanted to ask about the emotions of children, especially those who for the first time, for the first time in such... environment, i am talking about displaced persons, because i know that a lot of children are coming now from such occupied or front-line areas, where they
4:25 am
were, well, the child herself has never seen such a village, that there are still the same children, what kind of emotions do they have, how they learned to communicate and perceive reality, absolutely like everyone else, here we have people who were forcibly resettled from other regions of ukraine, i did not notice that it was somehow different for them, but simply in such a saturated program of the camp itself and so much is constantly happening there that the child will constantly immerse himself in some context of some activity, in fact, and to say that it was difficult for someone, only because they had no experience before that, well , there was no such thing, because they saw different children, in we had children with disabilities and children without disabilities on the same planet. children with a very complex form of disability, but they were all together, in fact, and they interacted, helped each other, there were some quests, they were preparing for parties and so on, so
4:26 am
it was somehow more difficult there precisely because the fact that they have not seen such children before, ugh, children without disabilities, you said there are also in the planets , they are there specifically so that socialization takes place in such a way as specifically, this is an inclusive camp, an inclusive camp i will repeat again, i mean when everything is in one planet , of course, we do not divide children according to diagnoses, according to capabilities, our only criterion by which we divide children is age, that is, starting from seven years old, this year we didn't have the youngest group, but the youngest was from five to seven and the oldest was 18 plus, so we only divided them, well, we only divided them into planets according to age and that's all, i'm interested, we talked about immigrants, about the war, how do you explain to children what is happening, me i know that for some types of disability, it is very difficult to understand that you lived for yourself, lived a peaceful life, and here there are some worries, airplanes, and explosions, how the war has changed.
4:27 am
the life of children with disabilities, and i know that the stress of the parents of these children reflects a lot , of course, you know, i don't have a disability, but i still probably don't accept this reality either, because i think it can't be like that be, if we are talking about children, for example, the category of children with whom we worked, we worked with them before the war and after the war, of course we explained, developed certain social stories, certain pictures, certain step-by-step instructions , what's going on, how to behave if you hear the air on the... alarm, what to do when you 're down in the shelter, like, in general, what is the war, why are the planes flying, who are they, the soldiers, well, why is this all happening , we basically simplified all the information that is available now, well, we told, showed, illustrated in accessible language, well , for example, how do you they explained to their son the first alarm, the first explosions, no way, in fact, matvii in principle does not, well, i cannot
4:28 am
say that he does not, he certainly understands what is happening. now, for example, when there was thunder recently, it was very strong and it was like this: oh, rockets are flying, we have to go in a hurry, and i understand that it will be with him forever, that is, he already has thunder associated with rockets and with the fact that you have to go to the shelter, and matvyi has clear instructions, if the alarm sounds, we must go down to the shelter, that is, he is already at night, during the day, no matter when it is, for him it is such a routine, and if we if we don't do it, then there may be some hysteria or aggressive behavior, because if it's anxiety, i explain to him that it's a danger. i don't even know, i don't fully understand, whether matvii realizes what danger is, well, just like a word, because it's some very abstract thing for him, but he knows that if the alarm sounds, he gets up and we gather, he takes his rucksack, we go down to the shelter and that’s how it should be, well, in principle the same, probably this algorithm for other children, the same way, when we were in the camp, there was an alarm several times, we the team was also developing an algorithm of actions, how it would happen, so we will explain
4:29 am
, knee anxiety, we had special such cards , it was prepared that now attention, anxiety, and stairs, there we descend into exposure, and in principle, well, there were no problems, because the adults were prepared for this, that is, there was no commotion, there was no panic , everyone clearly knew what was happening and what needed to be done, but the children read the situation for adults very strongly, if we panicked, somehow ran , my god, what to do, of course for the children too there was some hysteria, aggression, but of course there were children who, in principle, it was difficult to do this, especially children who were purchased from them . she knew there with her tricks and methods with different tools, she used to calm down this hysteria and say that the child is safe, you are safe with you adults, everything is cool, and we continued some activity there, the space camp is of course a cool thing , but
4:30 am
it is not for long, just a few weeks so that the children can rest, the parents, i think first of all, can also rest, and if we talk about something global, about your global projects, and i know what you do separately for young people, separately for school teenagers, what kind of projects are these, well, look, taking off our rose-colored glasses again , let's talk about what is the route of growing up for children in our country, i mean children who have complex developmental disorders, well, on the example of my son , but he is totally blind, he has autism, epilepsy, mental retardation, so what awaits him? nothing, conditionally nothing, if there were not those projects created by our organization, and he would conditionally finish his nine classes, get his certificate and everything, of course, yes, there are some rehabilitation centers there, some programs where he could walk, but all that is there, well, it's not about growing up, it's not about any, it's just necessary, i think that some, so we need a tick.
