1990s, since then nothing has happened. since then, the economy has done quite poorly. dagen: do you need something as transformative as the internet? the transformations we have had based on internet technology. just look at what apple alone has done with consumer devices. is that the reason the economy is growing so slowly? >> i think the marginal innovations you are speaking about help. 1982, gloom and doom. high energy crisis. then we had the personal computer revolution. dagen: speaking of energy, look

i am lauren green. back to dagen and connell. dagen: thank you. losing 155 pounds on nbc's "the biggest loser" back in 2009. she was later hired for a company known for kickboxing. connell: the company said she has gained an estimated 45 pounds. we will hear her side of the story. first, we have the ceo. thank you for coming in. >> thank you. connell: what is your side of the story? >> early in 2011, we looked to hire a spokesperson. we knew that tara was a great fit. we spoke with the managing team.

they were very excited. she seemed very committed. a few months into the contract, there were some challenges with her and her schedule. what really happened here is our contract continued for a second year. during the first year she had obligations. she was unable to meet, social media obligations. she made 12 out of the 48 the second part of it was she signed on with a franchise that offered a competing service. after six, seven months into it, it seemed like she gained about 40 pounds. she was scheduled to make appearances. the location did not want her to come because she had gained the

way. we notified her manager. we did not hear from them until the end of the contract. the second year, we were in the contract still. we continue to use photographs that we had of her when she was still thin. the second time, we get hit with a lawsuit from her. dagen: this is a response. >> initially, we have a letter saying we owe $127,000. twice as much as we paid her in one year. we made an offer to them to pay $110,000 because we liked her,

we thought she was a great person. they rejected that offer. connell: we will ask her about those details later. on the weight gain question, how was her contract? it seems to be there is some dispute on how you defined the word "fit" or what the word" fitness" means. >> we are a weight loss and fitness franchise. we thought tara was a great spokesperson. she made an amazing transformation. she could run faster or run longer. the fact of the matter is, she gained a lot of weight. she gained 40 pounds of fat.

dagen: the fact that you did not specify what that was in the contract, do you see that as a mistake? >> she had maintained a good way for a few years. i never actually anticipated that this would be a challenge for her. connell: nothing like that is in the contract. >> no. she did a triathlon that year and she did great at that. that is awesome. people say she looks great today. this is going back two years ago. people are coming to my franchise expecting to lose weight. i cannot have a spokesperson who gains weight during the process. i do not want to sue. she dismiss the case because

office it was 11.13 lost a the thousand jobs before i became governor we went to the low was state now to the highest of unemployment. you cut regulation, a cut taxes, and my administration said think like business people have attracted people to ask for business. hertz is moving the corporate office to florida. dagen: did you court them or is it no state income taxes? >> there are 6,000 firms all over the country and when they think about moving they look at you and think they have the opportunity to stay in new jersey or go to oklahoma or come to florida. we went after them to make sure that we come to our stay with lower taxes. think about it. when you buy things you are

not willing to buy a more because they're in a higher tax area with more regulation. it is my job to have businesses be more successful than any place in the world. on the question of housing housing, at rich edson reported on the federal reserve interest-rate spurt go what about housing now as it comes back? how important are sustained low interest rates to that? >> they will have an impact it impacts people's abilities to buy a house but they like it there. we are a 42 year lowest crime rate and businesses are moving and expanding there. we cut out the manufacturing tax some more manufacturers are moving there. ports are expanding, a tourism we have had two terrific years so people are

it will help us, as far as energy with independence. dennis: the nice thing is these pillars are just a big area soufflé. on the fed, you actually think they are overdoing it. >> i think they still had an emergency policy in place. having said that, they will clearly, in our opinion, continue to do that. they want to see a heck of a lot better numbers. dennis: let's talk about the housing market for a minute. rising interest rates could slow that housing market. >> there has been a phenomenon of people waiting on the sidelines to see if prices get cheaper or rates get lower.

it is not inconceivable to us that a year from now or maybe six months from now you could see a ten year treasury above 6%. there is incentives for people to close now. it is a good time to be purchasing homes. dennis: that does not suck some money out of stocks? >> not if it is based on economic growth. dennis: about the federal budget looking better, that would be because of those sequester. >> you are absolutely right. low and behold, it is doing what it is supposed to do. we are somewhere around 4% of

gdp. it will look better next year. we have the positions in place to have good economic growth going forward into 2014. dennis, look, let's face it, this could get messed up pretty easy by politics. we have very cheap oil up in canada, up in north dakota that needs to come down to the gulf coast. that is the oil we want to export. it is the sweet type of oil, not the type with all the sulfur in it. we will take the cheap stuff, refine it and we will sell the expensive stuff overseas. that requires some policy adjustments that seem to be long and coming.
