improve over the course of the next year. a very low number. really not much optimism out there, is there? nearly two-thirds of those surveyed think we're moving in the wrong economic direction. four full years after recovery and all of those people think the president has got it wrong. clear message here, president obama's policies not working and they're not popular. wall street doesn't care. stocks will open up again today. there's a lot more happening this friday morning, look at these headlines. first off, flooding in colorado. thousands forced to leave the city of boulder because of rising waters. some rivers and creeks have not crested yet. three people are dead. to the jersey shore, where the iconic boardwalk in seaside park went up in flames months after being rebuilt following hurricane sandy. listen to what governor chris christie had to say about that. >> when i got my first full briefing before i left trenton to come here, i said to my

contemplating whether or not they're going to list at the nasdaq because of what happened with the facebook debacle and i've talked to the executives here at the new york stock exchange to see whether or not twitter and of course they say right away, we'd love to have them here and they have been working on it for years and these are the things that build and build. so we'll see where they land and the big news is that twitter is going to follow an ipo and the social networking stock such as facebook are doing well today. stuart: thanks, nicole, i think% that twitter is helping the overall market because now we're up over 40 points in a minute's worth of business on a friday morning. i've got social networking stocks, linkedin is up 100% this calendar year. it's up another buck. yelp up more than 200% i think over the last 52 weeks and up about 1% this morning. 64. twitter helps them all. another point to be made, big money tech does not necessarily mean lots of jobs created.

all of these companies operate with just a few thousand employees apiece, that's it. big money, yes. big job creation, probably not. john layfield, layton morris are here and they know the technology, clayton morris and the investing angles, john is here on twitter going public. first of all, john, i don't know what the price of this thing is going to be, would you buy it. >> depends on the price. stuart: really? >> valuation. i believe, absolutely, look at groupon is down 50% and facebook you're basically flat for a couple of years and if it came out 10 billion valuation we don't know yet because of the jobs following s-1 instead of an s-4 and confidentiality included in this looks like 580 million doubled from 2012. 180 million. and you don't know where it's going from here and don't know the valuation. it's all a valuation right now. stuart: so, john layfield fresh out of the box from bermuda is not jumping all over twitter. >> absolutely not. stuart: hold on a second is

what you say. clayton, where do they get their money from? >> well, one of the things that twitter is doing well, you talk about that growth that they've seen from 2012 to 2013. it's from mobile. remember, twitter is a mobile company. they have a leg up on facebook. and people are wondering how facebook was going to continue to make money in the mobile, and mark zucker burg saying he didn't think that ipad was a mobile device? and twitter was out in front, started a texting company to use on your mobile device. twitter had been making money on mobile advertising. we realized we're on twitter on mobile phones and seeing in-line ads promoting tweet. stuart: a pain in the neck. >> might be a pain in the neck, but they're making them money. if i'm a new brand, samsung launching a new phone and see a promoted tweet from samsung on the new phone, i'm not surprised by it and making good money by that. stuart: just under 600 million in revenue right now right.

stuart: according to all things digital, i think. >> and they're projecting $900 million next year. >> the money is there, but the problem is, as they're making more money on mobile growth, but the problem is they might be getting new users every month. dave costello, the ceo, sai hoped 100% growth and only seen about 30% growth with new users, 4.5 million active users a month. much shall much -- and might not be getting them. and younger ones might be on to other things. stuart: and new tech is up. old tech, apple, microsoft, steady as she goes. what do you think? >> apple has never made an acquisition that was meaningful to the bottom line. and microsoft j us bought nokia, four months of what the outbreak cash flow what it's worth. they've not been able to grow

organically either. i think that's why you're seeing the old tech company except for yahoo! and google that are struggling. stuart: you like yahoo!? >> i like yahoo!. i like maris sa mayer, to turn around one of the giants that is going to the tar pit is phenomenal. if she does it, it will be one of the most phenomenal in history. >> i do not own it, i wish i did. i wish i'd bought it in the mid teens, i thought there was a chance it was going up to this. they're changing the way that we view television and their content that they're doing with yahoo! television is where we're going to go. we talked about the nfl has potential to go to google tv. they're bidding on the directv rights and that's where the whole migration is going and it will take a few years to get there, but that's the future. stuart: tepid on twitter. do you want to change my phraseology. >> no, less tepid than on facebook and i think as we head into thanksgiving with the potential ipo, less tepid because they already own and are smart with mobile where

facebook wasn't. stuart: last word, john, you're fresh off the box of thh computer and i've got to give you the last word. >> what you said about jobs is most important thing. 5300 people work on facebook and 120 billion in valuation and 278,000 employees and that's why we're having a problem with employees. >> big tech, big bucks. and family sized value meals, steak for breakfast, a lot of mcdonald's news this week and wait for it, you will be able to pay for their new menu offerings on your smart phone, whoop-de-doo. and accepting a mobile payment and i'm told that's big news, nicole. nicole: it is, steak and eggs, steak and app. you can now use an app to pay and receive your order curbside. you don't need to go in or through the drive-through. this is ala chipotle. they've done this as well and this is mcdonald's sayingway want to be up with technology.

free, your tax dollars are paying for it. monica crowley fired up with it and she's higher at the 10:00 hour, the whole hour. the next case, big labor. whew, very unhappy with obama care. crunch time has arrived. the president, the vice-president, richard trumka will be pounding the table at a closed door, white house meeting today. listen to what the head of the labors international union said. direct quote, here we go. if the affordable care act is not fixed and destroys the health and welfare funds that we have fought for and stand for, then i believe it needs to be repealed. elizabeth macdonald is following this. what do the labor guys want with this closed door meeting in the white house today? >> they want the same tax breaks, the uninsured will get if they have their insurance in the healths exchanges. the unions want the tax breaks. stuart: a tax subsidy. >> tax subsidy. stuart: they don't get it now and exchange people get it, but they want it. >> they want it.

and they've got-- a union has a delay in the cadillac tax until 2018 and won that in 2010. three problems with this, it's against the law. the health law says-- that's right, guess what in the health reform law says the tax credits are meant for unsured in the exchanges not for those who already have insurance. stuart: you could change that law. >> they have been doing wavers and more than a dozen or so. stuart: richard trumka is going to say you don't change that law, don't get the money and manpower in 2014. that's what he's going to say. >> that's what he's going to say and undercuts the reason for unions because they bargain to get great benefits, including health benefits for the workers and they woke up and said the health reform hurts us and hurts the health benefits for the workers. if they get the tax credits that they want the cost of the bill will go up by half-- just for half of the union workers. it will go up by half a trillion dollars over ten years and the question is, will the white house go around congress and just enact this tax break

for the union? >> wait a minute. they get the tax break, the subsidy that they want, the cost of obama care goes up a half trillion over ten years, 50 billion a year, a billion a week? >> we are talking about the unions under what's called the tax hardly bill. theres' about 20 million of them. say 10 million of them get the $5,000 tax credit that's a half a trillion over ten years, that means the cost of health reform goes up. stuart: i've got a bet at that there's a document dump late friday afternoon to announce something they want 0 conceal from the media, but i'm just being-- >> you bet that the white house goes around congress and gives the union a tax break without going through congress. stuart: i'm not going to bet on it, but it would not surprise me. >> would not surprise you. stuart: i see that clayton and john are nodding their heads. glad we're in agreement. it's a modest rally, but a rally nonetheless. we're up 45 points, 15345. call it the new normal,

journal poll shows that only 27% think that the economy will improve over the next year. again, that's not much optimism, is it? two-thirds still believe we are on the wrong track economically. here is in studio, in new york, fox news contributor karl rove. welcome to the program. >> thanks for having me. stuart: is this a sudden sea change in opinion on the economy? >> no, the president's had bad numbers on the economy for a while and both these numbers and his job approval have been, you know, in a secular decline since it's been many will the time of his econd inaugural. he has had a very bad first year of his second term and it's reflected in these numbers. the republicans now have an advantage of 4 points on which party is better able to deal with the economy. a 12 point advantage on which party is better able to deal with the deficit. a 7 point advantage on which party is better on foreign policy. these numbers are better than the republican advantage on the eve of the 2010 tsunami mid

term elections. stuart: or better than the republican showing prior to 2010. so, what does that -- and you're the political professional. what does it tell you about 2014? >> 2014 is not a good year if this trend stays. a year is a long time in politics. but, for example, on health care, the democrats have an advantage on health care of 8 points. which is good, but it's not what it used to be. they've had an advantage of 30 and 40 points on the issue of health care. so, this says to me that the affordable care act is pulling down, just as it was in 2010, this is a smaller advantage on health care than they had before the 2010 election. stuart: that could become an even smaller advantage as the-- i think it's going to be chaos if this things unraffles, unrolls. >> absolutely. stuart: if they're not peaking too soon, and i know a year is a long time to go. >> right. stuart: what does it look like the republicans taking control of the senate next year. >> there are seven senate seats in mitt romney carried and

those are you will an at risk for the democrats. and the republicans need six seats to win the senate so those seven are, you have to sweep a lot of them in order to do it, but it's a good opportunity for the republicans in the seven seats, in addition, there are seats in blue states, like this michigan. new poll out showing that democratic nominee is up by one point in michigan against a candidate,'s he been in the race from pretty much nine months, the republican candidate. one of the republican candidates, whom he was tested against, just got in the race and there will be several others. we're going to see a wider playing field. if there get to be ten competitive seats and races next year, then the republican chances are taking the senate are good. not great, because you have to take six of them. stuart: if the move towards the republicans on the economy, that stays in place and stays in place on health care as well into next year, are you going to see democrats peeling away from the president, and keeping him at a distance in the election campaign? >> oh, absolutely, absolutely. it's interesting because in a couple of these senate races,

in louisiana and north carolina, you have democrat incumbent senators who are trying it make had a positive of their vote for the affordable care act. we'll see how sustainable that is. these stay in place, people won't want the president campaigning for them and want to look for opportunities to distance themselves between now and 2014. stuart: you want to see obama care delayed not defunded right? >> i'd like to see it defunded, but i don't know how you get there. the republicans go for defunding and the senate substitutes funding and where are we? everybody says we don't want a government shutdown. and democrats want to play for it. the delay argument helps bring democrats along. narrative changes from republican obstructionism, the democrats and republicans alike want to delay. there will be 5, 6, 7 democrats in the senate and say i'm voting on the individual

vigorously backed. hell hath no fury like a union boss spurned. what is he going to get out of today's meeting? i don't know, but the odds are that with an election year approaching, the obama team will move heaven and earth to placate richard trumka, give him something. this is what gets to me about this president. we were told that special interests would not influence this administration. are the unions not a special interest? it is flat-out wrong that a health care law that hits us all will not hit the president's pals if they can get to him and apply some pressure. so watch out, here comes the closed-door meeting. looks like to me the fix is in.
