disapprove of president obama's job when it comes to health care according to our latest fox news poll. in the first of my a exclusive interviews with heritage foundation president and former senator jim demint we talked about the push to defend obamacare and how realistic it is. >> first of all, it is important. obamacare will fundamentally change america as we know it, not just health care, but our economy, culture, the way we think about ourselves as americans. we were founded -- in fact, i was in london just a few weeks deal. they cannot believe that a country founded on individual liberty and freedom is considering doing this to ourselves. we are finding out, just beginning to see how bad this is, how it is going to affect people. unions did not like it. lou: that is a spectacle. i personally never thought that we would see the afl-cio and

partial rebellion, organized labor looking for an exemption. congress has found one. everyone wants a way out. stand back. >> my point is, this is a very destructive law. and so when i hear those in congress saying it is a political risk to try to stop it or we really cannot be funded, i say this is worth fighting for. the only way to get the president's attention here is for republicans step fund the government in its entirety, but not fun obamacare. and if the president decides to set the government down tenth save his failed law, that is what he's doing. and so i do not see any other way to stop this from being implemented in the next few weeks. lou: if i may, it is a clever strategy. it is a strategy that even has some things that might actually work. what is the reaction from republican leaders, if you well,

the folks in congress and the senate as to how excited they are about this and the political fallout that will ensue. in the house obviously they're the ones to have to make the decision. >> some of the is very risk averse and they are saying, well, if we do this we could risk losing the next election. frankly, lou, every republican mayor place to do everything that they could to stop this bill, and there have been several times of the last three years since the republicans were in the majority where the has said, let's not fight here, let's push it to the sea are, the debt limit. now, october 1st, they started signing people up. this may be the last off ramp. this is the time that we need to stand up and stop it. lou: as jim demint says, we start to see obama insurance exchanges open up, and we are going to see where that leads us. it begins january 1st, it being the affordable care act or

obamacare as it is more affectionately known. >> government health care is what it is. lou: and you talk about folks in london with the national health service, out of their minds. but here we go unless congress does act. what is the likelihood in your judgment that congress will defund obamacare? >> it really depends on the voices of american spirit that is why we have been traveling around the country last month trying to keep people informed engaged because a lot of people still do not know that this is happening. the edges starting to get notices in moving to part-time. i think that congress is probably 5050 on whether not they will take this action. the problem that the speaker has is he cannot get democrats to vote for a funding bill for the government. he has to give republicans, and a lot of republicans have decided they did not want to fund obamacare. i am trying to get as many people in the country to support the right policy year. lou: and in prospect, the battle over continuing resolution.

the budget. what is, in your judgment, the smartest thing for republicans to do with an eye to 2014 and that is the best thing for republicans to do for the country. >> well, i will not speak for what is best for them. i am trying to do what is best for our country. that is what we are about. frankly, it is more important that we stop obamacare than who wins the next election. also, if we cannot stop obamacare, how much difference does it make? >> you scared the dickens out of some republican leaders. >> i think they knew that when i was in the senate. there is a time when you have sarah place your life, fortune, and sacred heart for the right thing. when people say we might lose, i keep saying, since when do we not fight for what is right as americans because we are afraid we might lose? >> the netting millions of americans start to see the impact of obamacare and the

impact on their taxes which is not going to be raised in the middle class that will be, star to add up the burden, the cost of what we call obamacare. it is going to be -- lou: and unfortunately a lot of people will not feel it personally intel next year. a sign up what had been in the millions. we will be hard to unravel this one starts. lou: where do we go with the continuing resolution? where do you think that we will be in bringing some sense of fiscal responsibility? of october 1st now, obamacare insurance exchanges into the new fiscal year. >> the president will force a showdown regardless of what the republicans do on obamacare because he said that he once a clean increase in the debt limit with no strings attached. he wants to change is sequester and knows that the republicans are afraid every time he says shutdown. republicans are not going to get

what will happen tomorrow? >> none of us exactly know. the expectation is the fed will begin to taper and reduce its purchases. i think that the market professionals are expecting that. i think that the retail investor is going to find the fed stepping away a little bit disconcerting. it will be very interesting because they are, if they can't am going to taper and our opinion. lou: that means slowdown easing money. >> that is exactly right. >> and it also means that the fed has some -- to questions that arise from me. one is how did this consensus ten to 15 billion a month in tapering, how did that arise and also might well be the impact of ten to $15 billion? >> the consensus is budget people figuring out how much withdrawal of easy money the economy can tolerate. doing about $85 billion. 15 percent asian. that is what they're looking at.

lou: i just want to bring you some facts about the minimum wage. california has done it again, raising the minimum wage sit-in dollars an hour. by 2016 it will be the highest in the country. at least eight other states are going to try to boost their minimum wages. supporters say they're advocating for the poor. one economist says that is madness. he and many others say raising the minimum wage actually increases unemployment making labor more expensive. switzerland, one of the few countries without a minimum wage. at an unemployment rate of just 30%. a time when the net estates to nat have a minimum wage law. the 1920's during the cooling it -- : demonstration. the unemployment rate that down to just under 2%. take that switzerland. many economists say raising the minimum wage is now lower poverty. most of the poor -- follow me on
