lou: very quick question, if i may. why the timing now? the ministration has had an opportunity to step forward and sign this treaty, but why choose this time? >> it has been the push now for the united nations general assembly this week to try and get this done. also it is a very symbolic issue for the ministration in dealing with some of the gun violence we have seen and the statements on the white house at the tragedies that be witnessed over the past few weeks. some critics worry despite the fact it may not be ratified by the senate, they are concerned the ministration could find your credit ways around that much like eric holder critics say has been reacting to that supreme court decision on the voting rights act. we will have to see what develops from that.

lou: troops today cleared the holder many rooms of the nairobi shopping mall after a four-day terror siege which at least 72 people were killed. shots heard from part of the complex, but officials say troops were shooting before entering a room to make certain they weren't walking into ambushes. according to kenyan officials, the al qaeda linked group carried out the attack. they cap weapons stockpiled at the mall. the justice department internal watchdog finding stunning incompetence at the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms. it says government agents acting without authorization conducted dozens of undercover investigations into illegal tobacco sales. misused more than $160 million in profits from those operations

it. this test nancy pelosi statement. can this give any more bizarre? >> congress never ceases to amaze me by simply ignoring the facts and realities. i go back to all the people i debate and we talked when the house as the democrats continue to say it will do this, it is a nice hope that it might do that someday. this is what is really occurring. people's premiums are going in. they're having to merge with other hospitals. doctors are going on salary rather than using their own practice. people can't find the doctor anymore that takes medicare. difficult to find medicaid and a constant exnsion that say they can solve this. it is one thing to say this will be great one day, a different thing when you're actually person trying to get care. we're trying twatch out for those individuals. this is not a personal fight, this is real policy issues that have to be resolved and we are

trying to take this in a right and rational way. lou: that is something one would hope in the senate would emulate. if you can hold that course at the leadership of your caucus can hold that course, here is the thing. i see a lot ofcoverage about the 21 hours. i see a lot of coverage of the government shutdown, a lot of half-baked nonsense about obamacare. i don't see people going through the list the part of which you just articulated a shortage of 130,000 doctors by 2025. 90,000 doctors shortly end of this decade. premiums rising as we have reported here endlessly, as if in the national liberal media is is some sort of popularity contest, some sort of political maneuver contrivance on the part of republicans because they

can't get beyond their own ideological blunders. where do we go from here, congressman? >> the simple pat come back to over and over again. they said would reduce cost, make sure every american is covered and increase the quality of care. nobody is saying that anymore because no perceptual increase quality of care. no reduced cost. 31 million americans still will be uncovered. after all this happens, through a million americans still not covered. we have to come back to it is really occurring on the ground and say this actually does not work. met a lot of folks nervous in the beginning, now they are not nervous, they are fearful of it because they want this to go away. we will work through the process of this one piece at a time. with the advisory board, mandate on employers and individuals. say all these are major problems that you just can't ignore.
