willis report." thank you for joining us. have a good night and a great weekend. thank you. ♪ lou: there is a rebellion under way in the democratic party and the president's slide to the public that they could keep their health insurance if they elected is to blame. democrats defying president obama today. they voted with republicans to assure americans can restore their previously canceled plans. i am lou dobbs. ♪ good evening, everybody. president obama vows to veto the bill and democrats eager to put distance between themselves and that failed rollout of obamacare paid little attention. the 39 house democrats lined up with the republican colleagues

to pass the keep your plan bill. legislation put forward by house energy and commerce committee chairman congressman fred upton that would allow insurance companies to restore the policies to millions of americans who have been canceled because of obamacare regulations democrats voted with republicans despite the president's veto threats just one day after the president's so-called fix was panned by numerous congressional democrats. and just hours after the head of the state insurance commissioners association called the president's proposal a threat to the solvency of the system. president obama today tried to convince the heads of many of the nation's largest health care insurance providers to go along with his proposals and to restore the plans that have been cancelled for violating obamacare rules despite their illegality under that very long. fox news senior white house

correspondent with our report. >> a day after asking the insurance industry arrest to his promise if you like your policy you can keep it, president obama met with ceos of the white house. >> we are going to be some brainstorming and now we make sure that everybody understands what the options are because of choice and competition. kohl lot of americans who always seem health insurance out over a score out of reach are going to be in a position to purchase it. >> can't force the insurance companies to reassure the policies. mr. obama would encourage them to offer renewals. >> the purpose here is to provide a choice not to compel people to renew or compel people to, you know, choose any particular plan within the marketplace. >> polls suggest the failed promise and the problems of the health care website have shaken public trust in government generally and mr. obama in particular. in detroit where she visited a community center and health

clinic hhs secretary kathleen sibelius' seemed to blame contractors for the launch of a website that was not ready for prime time. >> i think the contractors gave us the green light and said as recently as the end of september, not only there were talking to us but congress, we are ready to go. >> internal memo show there were serious reservations in july riding, i just need to feel more confident that there not going to crash the plane take off. the plane did crash, and thursday mr. obama's seemed to take responsibility for it. >> there have been times or i thought we were getting slapped around a little bit unjustly. this one is deserved. it is on us. >> several state insurance commissioners have rejected the president's real proposal and insurance industry group is warning that it could raise premiums, bu some experts feel some insurance companies would grant the president's wish. >> there in the business to make money on policies command of the

policies that they were selling they had to discontinue, if they were plausible i am betting that there will be issued them. >> even though he opposed the house bill, aides say the president is not opposed to a legislative fix. the two parties are so far apart on what is a fix and what is intended to undo obamacare that an agreement is a long shot. lou: thank you very much. the u.s. military is showing progress in its efforts to help restore order and to provide aid to hundreds of thousands of typhoon victims in the philippines. roughly 6500 marine sailors and soldiers are now in the philippines with a thousand more on the way to help the victims of a typhoon. military personnel moving more than 190 tons of supplies and aid, 200 since the typhoon destroyed much of the island nation exactly one week ago. in the hardest hit city american marines are working to recover bodies and to provide aid to the

survivors who are increasingly desperate for both food and water. fox news correspondent in. [indiscernible] with our report. >> the u.s. says george washington is an iconic symbol of power. tonight the aircraft carrier is a sign of hope delivering two things many typhoon victims don't have. food and clean water. >> we had about 20 sites. people that have not had any contact before. probably double in the next doubleday's. >> a first look at the carrier's humanitarian mission. many houses had no roofs. others were destroyed. the moment our chopper landed residents formed a human chain unloading more than 150 boxes of supplies in a matter of minutes. >> a lot of small villages. luckily because of the ships we can access most of them.

♪ lou: the state department insisting that it will not give congress access to survivors of the benghazi terrorist attack. fbi director opening the door to that possibility yesterday when he testified that he has no problems with survivors

testifying before congress. the state department quickly issuing a statement saying, as we have said in the past, we share the department of justice's concerns and know that they advise congress that i witness interviews outside the criminal justice process could possibly lead to attempts to support the investigation. well, that is not what the fbi director now says. the state department did reveal that it as been quietly offering rewards of up to $10 million since january for affirmation leading to the arrest or conviction of anyone involved in the benghazi attack. and new reports, the central intelligence agency is amassing a huge database of international money transfers that include the financial and personal data of millions of american citizens. that program reportedly being carried out under the same provision of the patriot act empowers the national security agency to collect the phone and

internet records of nearly all. the united states reportedly getting close to an interim deal ahead of next week nuclear negotiations that will be held in geneva. as the obama administration urges congress to hold off on new sanctions against iran. joining us now, general jack keene, retired four-star army general, former army vice chief of staff and fox news military analyst. let me begin with this peculiar position that the administration finds itself in and what they hope will be significant in closing negotiations with the iranians in geneva and at the same time going to capitol hill to tell the senate that they don't want any strengthening of sanctions against iran. what do you make of it? >> well, i think we have justifiable concern. so anxious to make a deal that we will make a partial deal.

clearly the secretary has almost said that demand least a final deal at some point. the fact of the matter is that we will remove some sanctions. the iranians will not take, i don't believe, a major step that they have to take, that is dismantling the program. that is really the deal. why do you have to take baby steps when you know that is what is? it just want the pressure off. i think we will begin to take the pressure off. the iranian cities negotiations for 20 years now. as a step to take one step back in two steps forward. it buys them time and they continue to advance the program. i don't think this is any different for them. unfortunately we seem to be on the same path that we were with the north koreans and negotiated ourselves right into nuclear-weapons with a similar process where taking on now. lou: the process in this case with iran may come as it did with north korea, the to interesting and even hopeful

results, but never a conclusion that eliminates and resolve the problem. the senators of both parties an appropriations bill tougher sanctions. this has brought the iranians to the negotiating table. they think they can take it angeles. putting more sanctions on the tour will strengthen the hand in those negotiations. lou: a development that surprises many people we can't

permit that. your thoughts? faugh. >> that's absolute rubbish. a breath of fresh air by the director who is responsible for the investigation. he certainly knows what would be in jeopardy and would not be in jeopardy. he is willing to open it up so that those people can talk to the representatives of the american people. if it is necessary to be in a closed session and keep it within a small boat people, there are plenty of ways to do that. i really applaud the director's comments. what the state department is doing is really unfortunate and i think your response will. lou: turning to the cia, an essay. again, as various principally in

the news media, we hear allegation after allegation against these two agencies. why is it that the president of the united states himself who is responsible for both agencies, why do you suppose it is that he is not standing up and defending these agencies and asserting a perspective that would reflect his values and is directed to these agencies? >> yeah, i mean, that is such a major point. and both of these agencies are very much involved in radical islam and the threats to the united states as well as the threats to our interest overseas. there are in this war up to their ears, frankly. they are executing the president's policies, as you point out. and so when they are under attack he should be putting his arms around them and taking the brunt of it and telling people, these are policies.

if we need to review them, we will review them, but he is not doing that. he puts general alexander out their time and time again before one congressional committee after another. i know him very well. as good a man as we ever had. very transparent and forthright. really is unfortunate that you not hear from the president of the united states defending the instruments in the policies that are being implemented for this world. lou: are we to infer from the lack of, if you will, demagoguery that one might normally i think it is fair to say expect from congress or in the senate, we have not seen that emerged. on the president is being acquired, and also appears that capital is exercising and customers. and is not demagoguing this issue trying to seize political advantage. other congresses, others and it's tough those two agencies

are under attack. >> the thing that has really made a difference here, the heads of a special intelligence let committees. the congressional leaders and also the leaders in the seventh, both highly respected people. they certainly have been major protectors of the agencies involved and the techniques and policies that they are executing. so they are irresponsible. they have the total picture. they have invited other members to come and take a look get some of that evidence and certainly some have availed themselves of that opportunity. a lot have not. that in itself as tamped down the tendency for some to make a lot of of this one and maybe they shouldn't. that's a good point. i really had not thought about it. lou: great to have the year. we are delighted. >> always good talking to you.

you with focusing on an isolated instance. did not take you long to approve rules nice little. what do you think is going on? >> well, i think it is two things. a lot of these navigators are not qualified to be in the insurance brokerage business to begin with. there and over their heads. they have no formal training in anything medical. as you can see, lot of them are either incompetent or don't know what the rules are, but it is deception. in this case change happens. a local community organization in houston that receive somewhere around $700,000 of your taxpayer dollars confederal command are advising our reporter wearing a hidden camera to not report income to the irs so that we give more obamacare subsidies. if you're at the federal poverty line you get 100 percent subsidy if you are fourimes over you get less money from the federal government. it is just a systemic thing. if you're familiar with my work

i release videos one at a time to grab the naysayers and critics say it is isolated. lou: isolated not in this instance certainly. and a stand yet another video coming out next week. tell us about that. >> well, in the first video we focused on the relationship between battleground taxes which is a political action committee and in rural america which is a 50163 group, and how they work together to achieve a political agenda which is not really what i thought health care was supposed to be about. so what we're going to do is have a little deeper into out people's private medical information and medical data is shared with political action to many sports is shared to achieve political purposes which is what fundamentally this is all about and i think it will be explosive and their release that. lou: do you establish a connection, a direct connection or can you tell us or do you want to tell us at this point between the democratic party and

its various ancillary organizations and what you have discovered a mocks the navigator's? >> so far we have released two different video pieces. the first video did establish that the battleground taxes which is an organization trying to turn the state into a blue state was on tape. they cross pollinate data. it is illegal for a 501c3 group in this case in rural america, to give anything to a political action committee. there is letter sent to the attorney general of texas in the media today. they're thinking of taking away a nonprofit tax-exempt status for that relationship. we are going to do is go a step further than that. we are going to expose on video some of these people willing to give out private medical debt which is even further than sharing information.

now they're going to potentially given out they explicitly for political reasons. that is totally illegal and immoral, and i am sure it will be a big story when it comes out lou: it is already a big story. and congratulations on your work this is -- you know, i hear people trying to a discount you as an activist or a provocateur or. as if labels matter. i just want to ask you, what do you refer to yourself as? how would you describe your role and all of this? >> i think i am a journalist. you know, the median no longer does this type of work. think it is some of it is liability. a lot of people have simply become abundance or aggregate years. what we do is knock on doors in the go live into the field, do shoe leather journalism, and it is risky work, expensive, risky. the investigation took us three, four months to do. we gathered a hundred hours of

footage and we will release a little lead time. but i am a journalist. sixteen is used to do this. abc news used to do this. they no longer do and now they consider me an adversary, and i don't understand why. i am just trying to expose fraud and abuse and waste. that is something that journalists ought to be doing. lou: you are really falling in very long line in american journalism. you are as close as i can imagine anyone right now being in the country to being a muckrakers. that is, for me, a pretty high standard that you are sitting for yourself, and i think you ought to be proud of that label. we salute you here. keep up the great work. >> i appreciate that, and if you want to know more about why people don't do what i do well why people are deterred from what i do, read my book because it will talk about what the media and the government put me through to get to where i am today. lou: we will do it.

maybe even part of many cases because he is african-american. there is no question about that, and that's the kind of thing that no one says. but everybody is thinking it. joining us now to tell us what they are thinking, the editor and publisher, conservative blog check.com, kristol writes. and georgetown professor brad lincoln. thank you both for being here. what is your reaction? let's go down the line. we are watching some of the most liberal newspaper editorial boards and columnist saying that this is game over and it is a mass. >> it does slightly undermine the myth of the liberal media. but it's been a rough week at this point in the rollout has not been part of this. >> i mean, it has been immense. and i think that it is an open

question about what the long-term implications are. long-term political damage to the president. lou: i'm not asking you to speculate on the future. i'm asking you to react to the fact that these newspapers are criticizing the president openly and directly and straightforwardly without pulling any punches. >> unsupportive. >> i mean, come on. lou: you don't see it as a new development? >> these are reporters and columnists and that is correct. >> barely supportive? they have their lips affixed. >> and that burst blood they shout that. >> it has taken some time for a man who hasn't succeeded in a single initiative beyond obamacare. kristol, what is your reaction? >> i agree with you, lou. "the new york times" from "the washington post", usa today, they have all had their time

wrapped around obama's presidency that they can't even see the light of day and i think that this is a new development. i think the reason that they are criticizing the president is because each day brings a new embarrassment that is in their face, the failure of obamacare, that they would have no credibility if they didn't call the president on the fact that this is his signature legislation and he refuses, even a press conference yesterday, to take ownership and accountability for it. he comes out and says, on another website had these problems. you'd think i'd be that stupid and go and market? well, yes, we do. lou: turning to brad, if i may. asking you. this president right now. he is being defended by oprah winfrey who has played the race card. and in the midst of this, it is just bizarre.

the reaction we're getting here. >> it's an outrage for her to allege that he would be incompetent. in these organizations, they are the very ones that created this. so the fact is that they are only turning on obama because they are forced to. the american people are understanding full well the incompetency and the veracity of this president, that it is just without major. they are being hurt by it. they are forced to do something they should have done long ago it "fast and furious" and ungodly and the irs and now it has come where his chickens are coming home to roost. lou: we will come back and our next question will begin about why didn't we know more about the trillion dollar britain check to the insurance companies? is this really a federal program, or is it corporate welfare obamacare? check us out on twitter and let us hear from you. call us at lou dobbs news and

great life. because you have seized the opportunity and the greatest capitalist economy in the world. and the rats are the people paying him. the idea that they would use taxpayer money and that they would run is absolutely disastrous health care plan, obamacare, down the throats of the american people, the senate, and the house of representatives, it is coming. what are your thoughts? >> i have to agree with you. the insurance company is our route. this is a huge transfer and we agree on i'm not. but this is a huge transfer to the insurance companies because a federal subsidy is not free. it is called hard-earned taxpayer money paying for your lower cost health care insurance what the american people really

don't get it. i think it is outrageous and i would like to see the republicans run more on this message. that is why we saw the bill today. nearly 40 democrats said that i am horrified. but maybe they should've read that 2000 plus page called the affordable care act. lou: it's pretty clear that no one in the administration read it and very few if any in the congress and the senate read it. and if kristol is saying, getting votes and you can keep your plan act, and is there a possibility that this could go to the senate and the jury read would put it up and it would succeed? >> no, i don't think so. i don't think think they're acting out of purged itself of preservation.

we can win elections based upon conservative principles in this includes a tremendous amount of courage. she never wavered from her conservative belief that she didn't believe in a consensus or giving ground to the left. and that is her opponents. she was a fearsome individual and figure he took on the left and she defeated the left and she made a great nation better and this is a huge achievement. lou: one of my favorite things is which she would take on all individuals and destroy them with her arguments and her logic and her player and her command of languages. she was just magnificent. i don't know what would happen if president obama walked into a room and had to engage that way

or president bush, to be fair about it. what do you think? >> that system is unique. and you have to rise to the top and be able to manage this and articulate this with your position. and i don't think -- lou: have you seen anyone better than her? >> i do not think so. >> the only thing that is comparable was winston churchill, her great friend. absolutely, she was a great communicator and she took consultative policy issues and translated them into simple terms that voters could understand. lou: as you point out, as you look at lessons on leadership with the conservatives here, there is all this talk and a subsets on every issue that has

a subtext in both parties are saying that we are in decline and china is rising and things are tough in the new normal is that we are not going to grow the economy and 20 million people can just write themselves off because we don't have faith in the government and we don't have time to really worry about our fellow citizens having an opportunity and we will just write a check and make this society something broad and deep and lasting. she brought great optimism. she could match him in spirit. >> absolutely. i think that margaret thatcher and ronald reagan projected tremendous optimism and hope. genuine optimism. and margaret thatcher demonstrated he can turn a great nation around and she made britain once again a truly great nation and she always believed

in american global leadership and great faith in america. lou: many in the uk will hate me saying that, but she brought the liberals kicking and screaming to the light despite themselves and turned into this. the idea that you say that the united states is not in decline and we have an opportunity to turn things around, how so? >> the 70s as was mentioned, was a very bad time and she was able to articulate this and it really wasn't an alternative to her with what she was proposing. lou: what the alternative is here for conservatives. >> i don't care whether they are independent or republicans or whatever they may be. who is the personality that is going to step forward and

challenge the obama are collides in the democratic candidates and hillary clinton is the front-runner from the conservatives part of the republican party? >> need to see leaders in the united states who embody the value like former reagan conservatives. those that are willing to count themselves as conservatives and not those who will be compromising with the left. this is a nation that faces real conservative policies implemented. otherwise we will have very bleak leadership. we need is leadership based upon conservative forces, which revolve around the ideals of limited government, destroying individual liberty to the nation. lou: i think all of that in the
