we're the world's most productive people and we can claim a government built 237 years ago. have a great evening and a great holiday. ♪ ♪ ♪ ashley: good evening, i am ashley webster in tonight for lou dobbs. it's the busiest travel day of america of the year. mother nature is doing her best to make things difficult. 40 million americans are expected to be traveling at some point today where their thanksgiving dinner destinations and a major winter storm packing the snow and ice and wind already complicating a day that normally sees packed trains in airline terminals. major delays being reported at most of the airports in the northeast corridor. washington dc, philadelphia, new

york, and boston. heavy winds and gusts up to 50 miles per hour, closing delays with the ripple effect of 250 flight cancellations and up to 5000 flights across the nation. it's a mess out there. snow blanketing parts of the midwest, making car travel treacherous. stretching into the upper appellations in western new york, a foot of snow falling down. parts of pennsylvania as well, the potential for more snow in western new york. storm related accidents being blamed for several that comment seven or eight chilly thanksgiving day celebration. rick is in the weather center with a full report. reporter: that is right, this started last thursday, and this is what is left of it moving across the mid-atlantic.

a cool day across the area. the rest of the country is not much warmer. down towards dallas, cold area here for your thanksgiving in tomorrow, most of the precipitation is gone and we just have to get through the next few hours. ashely: the high winds in new york city could have a major impact on the macy's thanksgiving day parade, the big balloons including crowd favorites like snoopy and spiderman and buzz light year. they will not be allowed to fly if winds are higher than 23 miles per hour and gusts that reach 34 miles per hour. traffic on the obamacare website will be slowed by the weather, but the obama administration is warning partners not to encourage a push to health care not to. this for a website fixed still won't be sufficient.
