7:00 pm
that the last time we let o'reilly send us an e-mail. have a great weekend, everyone. could you kind of be i'm a little horrible. the loco loco. >> at evening, everyone, i am ashley webster in for lou dobbs. less than 24 hours after congress approved the special elect committee on benghazi, speaker john boehner has named his purchase of them. democrats are still wondering as to whether or not they will participate. speaker boehner nominating a mix of republicans to join trey gowdy and attorneys and prosecutors and oversight committee members that have been emboldened investigation for the past 18 months. and the minority party is sending one representative to
7:01 pm
the panel. they have suggested boycotting the panel altogether. and speaker boehner explained the reasoning to our own reporter earlier today. chief intelligence correspondents catherine herridge has the latest format that shows john boehner and the republicans select committee members meeting for the first time. they bring with them legal military or intelligence experience and speaker boehner explained in the exclusive interview. >> what i try to do is to find people who had worked on this investigation and others who have not. bright, energetic, and people committed to giving to the facts. reporter: martha roby practice law before heading to capitol hill. and they're calling has a harvard law degree. they ran investigations for the
7:02 pm
house intelligence committee. and jim jordan who is on the oversight committee. >> i don't want a slideshow, i want the members of this committee to find the faqs for the families who lost their loved ones and the faqs for the american people. reporter: after the meeting, committee members offered little tour of orders are you the house minority leader faces three choices. boycott the committee or send one to be the democrat's eyes and ears. >> it's pretty clear. they have a focus on the affordable care act and has run its course. and now they have to find something else to talk about. >> two of the victims family don't want a select committee and they also dismissed it as a political trap them and we have been there and done that. why are we doing this again? why are we doing this again? >> there's no word on a
7:03 pm
timetable, recent testimony suggest that mrs. clinton's closest aides are likely to be under the microscope. >> mr. shapiro came there as well. reporter: enters shapiro is part of the want of principle gatekeepers. no consulting group knows more about the been caused the attacks and the scandals impacted. ashley: thank you very much. here to discuss the kangaroo court boycotted by democrats.
7:04 pm
we have fox news contributors and thank you both for being here. i appreciated on this friday night. nancy pelosi was making some pretty interesting events and she says conservatives have run out of ammunition with obamacare. they've been there and done that with benghazi. how much of that resonates with the average person out there? you think that she has a point? >> certainly among the left, yes, they will be with her. about 61% want to know if they really send e-mail that showed the white house was involved in structuring the talking points for television for susan rice's appearance. and i don't think nancy pelosi runs the risk of looking that she doesn't care. but somehow this terror attack on the anniversary of 9/11 in which an ambassador and three
7:05 pm
other americans are killed, somehow it is all idle. but if you ask a democrat what is the narrative and how do you explain us, there are so many gaps in the official position in part because it has changed. so the idea that it's all settled, there's nothing new to learn. that seems a rather risky approach for her at this point. >> i think it's likely they will appoint at least one person to the committee or you lose total control over it. clearly in the set of demands, what difference does it make to nancy pelosi, she said that basically she wanted to be able to control and veto things. now, the republicans are not going to go for that. they're not going to have a committee. but i think avoiding it or boycotting a, she can't afford
7:06 pm
that. >> committed to the bottom of this? >> i hope that we can. i think of the democrats keep stonewalling, it will be hard. administration tries to prevent it, i don't think we will ever get the complete truth. i think that there are several keep that are his. one of them is frankly having to do with where to the concoctions about this video come from. that still seems to be unclear. who came up with the idea that the video was responsible. it was not the cia and certainly not anybody in libya itself. the only thing that i think is striking is that nobody has been apprehended. if there is an active investigation, it's very secretive area and the idea that
7:07 pm
nobody has been captured, i think that that is one of the -- kind of the big issues that keep this thing going. if anyone has been brought to justice, there will be less pressure to get to the bottom of it. but it is a growing fat. ashley: they have been there and done that, and done what? >> exactly. and when a "new york times" reporter and other reporters interview these people, somehow the fbi can even show up for three weeks, what are we talking about here? and i think what we will really shape the message. i won't use the word lie yet.
7:08 pm
so it certainly raises so many questions. but we have to get to the bottom of what appears to be a cover-up. i don't believe that this administration could have done anything more than it did to really protect the people on the ground once this attack started. if they had only told that to the american people rather than concoct this video and all of the other pieces they have given. >> judy brings up a good point. it only just come clean and say that we did not perceive this. yet there were probably warning signs that we should have heeded. >> i think that is one of the many things that cause them to doubt their credibility on everything. it's like when you're teaching young reporters if they can't spell, you worry about the facts and then they start getting their facts wrong in the way viewers during the story away. so they talk about the video and it turns out not to be true. even the memo, they said that they gave over everything before. and of course that they didn't. so there are all kinds of
7:09 pm
credibility issues which i think is what is fueling this. plus as i said, the fact that no one has been brought to justice and that is a real scandal in and of itself. >> many think it is another attempt to discredit this in 2016 and the midterm election is also coming up later this year. >> the fact of the matter is that there are questions about what he'll renew and when she knew it and when she did know. the fact is that the accountability review board had a little chat with her and never interviewed her under a. so she's going to be judged as to what kind of leader she's going to be.
7:10 pm
>> judy miller, thank you so much for being here. we really appreciate it. see one fact checker is cowling out president obama. the fact that since 2007 they have filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation that would help the middle class, and it just gives you a sense of how close they are to any program. earning the president for pinocchio's in "the washington post." that's the worst that they have passed, 50, not 500. we're coming right back. ashley: islands corrupting in the ukraine. the russian visitor makes his first visit to the crimea.

7:15 pm
welcome and thank you for being with us. as always for joining us, let's begin with vladimir putin and his glorious visit to the crimea, arriving with just roaring overhead to cheering crowds. how provocative as this? >> these world war ii events have been scheduled for some time. it enhances this quite dramatically. his popularity in russia is soaring in the fact of the matter is that worldwide whether putin is certainly one of the most respected leaders in the world and also one of the most feared. he is going to go through a number of these events. the most dramatic will be this anniversary of normandy where he will be on the podium the president obama and all the other world leaders from europe. certainly taking opposition to what he is doing.
7:16 pm
>> he will always put a pole ahead of democracy as the saying goes. he did make some unexpected concessions and he said he was urging the pro-russian militants to postpone this referendum due this coming weekend. and i would suggest that he's starting to be a little bit more concessionary because he's pretty much got what he wants. would you agree? >> yes and no. i think his standing back from the independence referendum this weekend, the leaders told him that given the level of violence we may not be able to turn out what we think we can. and he only wants to do that is a guaranteed outcome and i think that the suspicion of that has provided some caution. supporting the national elections on may 25 is quite a surprise. he is probably covertly part of this and it could be a.org the fact that he's willing to make
7:17 pm
some sort local accommodation. what he actually wants is a new revolutionary government. when there's a new government elected. this is the interim government towards a close relationship with russia with some political of how many for the provinces in the east. that is what this has been all down. >> what goes on in the eastern district of the ukraine, how complicated does it become and at what point do the russian forces maintain if all-out war breaks out? >> first of all, the eastern ukraine is not crimea. there is a minority population in that part of the country, not the majority. secondly, the fact of the matter
7:18 pm
is that he knows who they will fight, but they will not fight. they will continue to use tactics much as we have seen unfold in afghanistan and iraq. that means a protracted war. and believe me, 1980 invasion of afghanistan that left some protracted and this defeat. and i don't believe he truly wants to put those troops there. those troops are there to intimidate if there was total chaos. >> the russian economy pushed more and more constrictor and harsher sanctions were put in place, that would really start
7:19 pm
to bite. it seems like he's pulled back from the edge in that regard. you expect him to be a little bit quieter now and let the process go where will? >> this is about pressure on the government to move away from the europeans. and he definitely won some influence politically inside the ukraine. and i think if he continues his policy that he's doing right now that has him intimidation to it, he is affecting the gas prices and the ukraine economy and he probably will get some of those concessions. >> we will see what twists and turns are down the road. ashley: time for a look at last night's online poll results.
