7:00 pm
had a lot of fun. it kept us every night at 6:00 p.m. if you can't watch the tv show, catch a later. the markets are a little bit under some pressure with the political events going on. but the the guy who knows what's going on right now is lou dobbs. lou: good evening, everyone. president obama lecturing our allies are making empty threats to some of our adversaries. the president telling israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu immediately return to the november 2012 cease-fire agreement with hamas after a top diplomat john kerry criticized the israeli ground strikes against hamas targets in gaza. president obama yet to condemn the terror campaign raised by hamas on the israeli population.
7:01 pm
and president obama saying to cooperate to risk further isolation. but he failed to lay out any specific tangible repercussions for russia's actions. so we begin tonight in the middle east, president obama dispatching his secretary of state john kerry to cairo, they are to pursue a cease-fire between the israeli defense forces and hamas terrorists in gaza. sunday, one of the bloodiest days of the conflict with more than 100 palestinians and 13 israeli soldiers killed, including two with american citizenship. president obama with the temerity to declare that he is now looking for an immediate cessation of hostility despite the reality and he would like
7:02 pm
prime minister netanyahu to return. >> we have serious concerns about the rising number of palestinian civilian deaths and the loss of israeli lives. it has to be the focus of us in the international community to bring about a cease-fire that can stop the deaths of innocent civilians. >> sarcastically complaining about israel's campaign inside gosar, the secretary did not realize the results.
7:03 pm
lou: complaints that civilian casualties should be directed at hamas and not israel. >> this is the coolest, most grotesque war. so if there are any complaints, and there should be. and i don't think that anyone should get that wrong. lou: and the prime minister widening the operation with what he calls sustained a silence. while predicting the israeli offensive against hamas targets in gaza could last several more
7:04 pm
weeks. we have more with our report. >> the nonstop cycle is repeating itself and the injured were rushed in while the dead are carried out to be buried. the past 36 hours have been especially costly to both israelis and palestinians in the violence only rises. health officials say more than 570 palestinians have been killed and many civilians [inaudible] >> be israeli officials say that they have warned civilians to leave the areas of operation. but those warnings are ignored. the two-week conflict is taxing
7:05 pm
humanitarian groups and the united nations estimates more than 81,000 civilians have fled their homes taking shelter north of gaza. it is becoming more difficult, fights are breaking out here and israel's military continues this vast tunnel and bunker system. the military says they struck 2000 targets across. but so far the operation has failed to silence their rockets. in more than 100 rockets were fired toward israel and israeli forces hamas said it was 10 of its fighters were killed, but still claimed it as a victory, israeli soldiers were also killed as well. >> this is a difficult thing.
7:06 pm
>> israel vows to continue the operation until all of this goals are met and secretary of state john kerry is on his way to help broker some kind of cease-fire to end the violence in the state department announcing that they will give $47 million to help with the humanitarian crisis but more than anything, this area needs a cease-fire. lou: we will have much more and we'll b talking with ralph peters here in the broadcast and a little bit. four days after flight 70 and was shot down and outrage over the handling of the bodies
7:07 pm
pointing fingers at one another. they were some of the most intense witnesses are fighting. >> ukrainian government horses yesterday, just 40 miles from the crash site. some families were sent on the run and the renewed fighting did not prevent the first steps of those killed on malaysian flight 17 for their families. the prime minister reach an agreement to receive the planes black boxes and refrigerated train cars were pulled out from the wreckage. then they will be flown to the netherlands for dna testing.
7:08 pm
the bodies are gone but the scars they left behind in several villages remain. and the image brings a 78-year-old to tears. i have been through the war with the germans and famine, but this is worse. a child was found in his front yard. number 28. filled with pictures of the dead from her front yard, or street and her child's school after the explosion we ran out to see what happened and they were falling everywhere. alone here in sunflower fields and wheatfield marked with a rack or a ribbon. the dutch are calling for a complete forensic investigation of the entire crash site with fighting in the area like we saw today, that is going to be a real challenge.
7:09 pm
lou: we will have more on the situation of ukraine william taylor coming up next. two reports tonight that the obama white house repeatedly ignored warnings on the crisis now unfolding on our southern borders. according to the reporting of "the washington post." saying that those warnings stay back to full years. and texas governor rick perry taking the administration at his word today taking action, sending 1000 national guard troops in to help securing the border.
7:10 pm
>> you are either disengage her disingenuous, one of the two, and americans lives are at stake. this is about the security of the country. lou: the vast majority of illegal immigrants into the united states with the help of coyotes and that industry is booming. a new united nations report estimating that human smuggling is raking in some $6.6 billion per year charging each person they smuggled across the border up to $2000 to be guided across the border. we are coming right back. lou: still all talk and no action telling vladimir putin to stop meddling in the ukraine

7:14 pm
>> correcting the comment that i made that i made before about them charging but coyotes, they charge each person up to $2000 per person. president obama today awarding the medal of honor to sergeant ryan pitts. robert propelled grenades and hand grenades were included in what became one of the bloodiest battles in the war of
7:15 pm
afghanistan. nine of his fellow soldiers were killed that day, but sergeant continued to fight despite being wounded so badly that he needed a trinket on his right thigh. however, he downplayed his actions, saying nothing he did goes beyond actions of those who gave their last breath. the security council demanded resolution to the international access of the malaysia airlines plane down in eastern ukraine. joining us tonight, the former u.s. ambassador to the ukraine, william taylor. so how is that being perceived
7:16 pm
based on your experience and how is that being received by the people of ukraine? >> the people are very interested to see justice done. so they want to see people brought to justice. he has brought together this strong president to kia and that was not possible. and he would be very interested and they want to see this resolved. >> many of the united nations speaks and somehow the clock has been rolled back or time has been held still.
7:17 pm
and people will not discuss the fact that that is russian territory. done quietly and yet so publicly. and the threat that continue to be made to presdient vladimir putin, what are the new judgment and the downside and the risks of unforeseen consequences of forcing unforeseen consequences and the wave that this administration is pursuing russian policy. >> it may be the star, the changing point or a game changer that brings the european people into recognizing what you say and that they have invaded a sovereign neighboring country.
7:18 pm
and they continue to hold that and they are going to keep it. that cannot be allowed to ban and the pressure needs to be raised on him and we did put on more sanctions last week and those sanctions have had an effect on the stock market and the ruble and the europeans have now lost nearly 300 of their citizens and they need to step up to the plate and hold sanctions similar to the way that we did. >> it is a strange spectacle to behold. president obama often stems of four cameras and microphones to speak keeps making threats, whether it be bashar al-assad or lattimer pruden and the reality is that we are hearing very little from our european friends
7:19 pm
and they seem to not want to express either their voice, they seem to want to own some ambiguous sideline, as if they were not principal actors on the world stage. that's a very dangerous position and i believe that the french will be pressured now not to sell these helicopter carriers. i believe that they are ready to put on sanctions that will raise the natural gas prices. this tragedy caused by the russians is likely to unite
7:20 pm
7:21 pm
7:24 pm
lou: coming up tonight, a brand-new report highlighting perhaps reason will be clinton may have to forgo a political run. and president obama issuing empty threats to vladimir putin again, dr. keith ablow will join us to talk about the present state of mind. and first, a few comments, if i may, of the well-developed and propensity to threaten our enemies but never quite able to deliver on those threats. here is the president, one in russia, of the consequences. >> if russia continues to violate ukraine's sovereignty he
7:25 pm
and the separatist become more dangerous and are not only rest of the people of ukraine, but a broad international community, then russia will only further isolate itself and will only continue to increase. lou: his warning begs the question does president obama have standing? the credibility to persuade the international community to support his threats against vladimir putin and russia. so far the answer is clearly no. european leaders to this point have not been willing to adopt sanctions or go as far as mr. obama and his national security team would like partly because russia provides about 30% of europe's natural gas. partly because president obama has now extended what little political credibility that he once possessed in europe. and it's no secret to our once
7:26 pm
staunch allies that his red lines are often effectively green lights. president obama is neither well respected more regarded in this way but president putin is both in russia. here at home mr. obama's talent approval averages 42% in the second quarter and on the other hand, more than eight in 10 russians approve of the job the presidentlattimer pruden is doing for them. so unfortunately the presence warnings that this might have been another pointless exercise by a president who ways this is crisis after crisis without results. we are coming right back. fighting intensifies in gaza as israel suffers its worst casualty, including two americans. colonel ralph peters next.
7:27 pm
7:29 pm
7:30 pm
lou: developing news on the widening irs server name targeting scannell, a key official has revealed voter testimony to congress that talks about irs workers connected from lois lerner also had their computers crash and hard drives disappearing, extraordinary coincidences. among those computer crash victims, an irs manager who routinely corresponded with them, a lois lerner subordinate and a cincinnati-based irs agent. some good news, however, in the search for answers, the irs official who spilled the beans also told congress that the irs may not have destroyed the backup recovery takes of the two years of lost e-mails.
7:31 pm
and they may one day find her missing e-mails after all. i am sure that her heart tonight is god and by that development. and secretary of state john kerry announcing the united states is providing $47 million to address the humanitarian situation in god's, the secretary of state in cairo is trying to renew these fire efforts between israel and hamas. joining us now is the fox news strategic analyst, colonel ralph peters, it's great to have you here. what do you make of an administration who announces that he wants an immediate cease-fire of the strategic plans in conflict and in combat against a terrorist enemy that has been firing rockets into israel for almost two weeks?
7:32 pm
>> well, conspiracy theory of the days that they have lois lerner's hard drive and they don't want the israelis to get at.. and john kerry is riding to the rescue of hamas again. it's disgraceful. every time israel comes close to really hitting hamas hard, to getting at the core, we rescue hamas and i personally believe that despite the rhetoric that he has to pay, president obama has to say some nice things about israel because we are allies. it's an important part of the democratic base. but i believe that his heart is with hamas and i also believe that john kerry needs to not grandstanding. if israel doesn't go all the way this time, if they don't get into those underground bunkers on tram honkers under hospitals and under schools, if they don't
7:33 pm
root them out, the psychologist begins again and ways that you want to see a real contrast between hamas and israel, israel is losing senior officers and hamas is leadership is in deep air-conditioned bunkers that they know and they are pushing civilians out as human shields because this is hamas' greatest weapon, to get their own people you'd elated and killed so they can tell the world that the israelis are monsters and by the way, they also play on that new politically correct and the allowable old-fashioned annie semitism being anti-israel. lou: thousands of people demonstrating in europe over the weekend. it was utterly non-theater.
7:34 pm
i think one could get physically ill at the very thought that israel's allies instead of standing up and becoming more vocal and more insistent about the support of israel and supporting the strategy of israel and its leadership's decision, it seems to step back and say oh, well, we supported them a week ago and hamas and those that support the other side, i guess, that's the only way to put it, is not directly the destruction of israel themselves with more energy and focus in more notice in world meetings. >> yes. to the french government's credit, the attacks on
7:35 pm
synagogues and stores, it has happened is and they are trying to handle it. but with the holocaust so recent and european history to be in here the venom that europeans have towards israel, i often feel that europeans don't let the holocaust for getting caught. lou: that is harsh. >> i'm sick of attacks on israel. >> i understand that. and i will join you in that. but i also think that we have to be careful not to over generalize particularly about europe, much of it is frustrating and i'm sure they find this this way as well. but when you think about this, these demonstrations were anti-somatic.
7:36 pm
>> okay. now, israel is a rule of our democracy in the middle east where ribbons whites are respected and even the president is not above the law, where education and hard work are valued. and our government is once again betraying israel and john kerry has gone to the middle east to save hamas again. lou: it is always good to have you with us and thank you. >> thank you. lou: drug offenders are now eligible for early release after voting unanimously late last week to reduce those terms. unless our congress moves to stop the commission plan, a judge will now be able to review the case of each prisoner
7:37 pm
seeking early release to determine whether it will jeopardize public safety. on average, sentences for nonviolent drug offenders could be reduced by more than two years. we are coming right back. lou: it turns out that hillary clinton gets poor marks for her time as secretary of state. analyst ed rollins and ron williams are with us here inthar asked r country. thank you for your sacrifice and thank you for your bravery. thank you colonel. thank you daddy. military families are uniquely thankful for many things, the legacy of usaa auto insurance can be one of them. if you're a current or former military member or their family, get an auto insurance quote and see why 92% of our members plan to stay for life.
7:40 pm
lou: we are going to be talking about the politics of all that is happening in the world with ed rollins and juan williams coming up next. but the stocks fell today, the s&p down five and the nasdaq dropping evan and the volume on the big board 2.6 billion shares, energy the best performing sector consumer discretionary is the word. crude oil settling above 100 or
7:41 pm
dollars per barrel, gold rose $5 was about $1350 per ounce. ten-year bonds 2.7%, young brands down after mcdonald's suspended a shanghai-based, a u.s. owned me to fire allegedly sold expired tikhon and beef in china. and be sure to listen to the salem radio network or all of the news. a 12 million-dollar speaking engagement and her book, hillary clinton, in the 16 months since he left the state department. earnings are not the only obstacle for her 2016 plans, 32% of voters say that she did a poor job as secretary of state, that is according to a new political pull. 14% described it as excellent.
7:42 pm
joining us now is the "a-team" coming including ed rollins, cohost of the five, juan williams, it is so great having her. so is it over for hillary clinton? sounds like she's being dismissed in some fashion? >> the polls indicate otherwise, i saw one of the latest polls out of iowa, another one from new hampshire, has europe 72 to 12 over her nearest competitor inside the democratic primary. especially republican voters are is just discontented. but will she be the nominee, it looks to be the case. >> turning to the clinton presidency, do the republicans really care? >> i think that she will be a viable candidate.
7:43 pm
and there is a lot of ground that they have to make up and a lot of this is going to depend upon the obama administration and how they finish up. including democrats running in the senate and i think that she may be having viability for years beyond. >> a former gop candidate, governor rick perry standing tall today. calling out the texas national guard and meaning to bring them to bear on the border not
7:44 pm
offering lipservice as the obama administration has done to actually have an impact. what do you think? he did it for the politics of it, the appearance of it. if you're asking me about real impact in stopping illegals from crossing, i don't think it's going to have any impact whatsoever. especially given that at the moment the mexican economy is doing well in ours isn't net migration that is actually down. it's negative. so no, i don't think that's a big deal. but i think that for people who are infuriated by obama in the ration who see him as an active or not fully engaged playing pool in denver and all the rest, here is rick perry taking a strong stand, and it would help him with his ambitions that are very real.
7:45 pm
>> i think governor rick perry is a tremendous candidate who's been a long standing governor and our party and he has great stories i think he's providing leadership where he sees immigration as a big problem in his country is desperately looking for this. and i think we are going to give him a second look this time he's a credible candidate. lou: as we look at what happen, we are not hearing a peep out of the governor jerry brown or anything from grand juror in arizona. so if the national guard being deployed upon that border does have this as a fact, that will put the other three in a very peculiar situation in president obama as well. >> brown is the one democrat among them by what you've got
7:46 pm
martinez and poor. i think the brewer feels that she's been stung before getting active on the immigration front. california, going back to jerry brown. a lot of hispanic voters and there's more than one side to this story. if you're on the republican side, i think that the story is clearly that we want harsher measures taken to protect and secure the border, you can't say that steps have been taken because people just don't buy it and they don't trust obama. and we are talking about tuition for illegal immigrants in the state schools in texas. so apparently he has learned how to play far right politics. >> apparently, as you suggested, he is a compassionate conservative.
7:47 pm
>> a dear friend of mine got reelected based on this. lou: do you think the president should mention hamas as he criticizes israel's military offensive against the target in gaza? lou@loudobbs.com and tweeters bonsai lou dobbs news. and our quotation of the evening so what you do, it speaks so loudly that i cannot hear what you say. coming up next, allies, threats
7:48 pm
7:51 pm
lou: or word of the evening selected in part because it was so appropriate and also to talk with our guest tonight. in psychology terms, it's a psychiatric term, mental activity absorbed by fantasy like any connection to the external world or reality. for example, a president the issues and defects to another leaders. an example in his thinking.
7:52 pm
joining us now to give us a different perspective on one of the psychoanalytic perspective is dr. keith ablow. >> thank you for having me. lou: this president, grave consequences and further isolation if you don't do what you're told. he seems compelled to make these statements even though he must surely understand the two things can happen, one is no effect and second there can be a response that would the unpleasant for the president and much of the world. >> yes, grand statements to vladimir putin saying that there are terrible consequences to come. but if you are not willing to exercise american power and so
7:53 pm
you can't really marshal our resources behind your words. and people see through that, especially people who like him or not and he's a strong fellow and can play this game himself, so he realizes this, that this guy can't really stand behind his words because he doesn't really believe in the american agenda. he's free to do what he wants. >> in foreign policy and an adjunct that is happening at a warfront, citizens of other countries as much as it involves as our inability and unwillingness to secure the border. with mexico. so we are watching a president who has known about this with the latest reports today, this president and his administration knew what was happening with the issuance of the executive order in 2012, which created these

children coming across an then it turns out that we're getting reports from our customs and border patrol agencies that are downplaying the number of family units are not simply a few that are common, these are family units and far more people than we were ever told by this administration. >> if you come to believe that he has a certain amount of contempt for our borders and our national agenda come around, you'd say that these would be leaking around and you can't enforce something and when you think of america as a force largely not to the good in the world.
7:55 pm

>> he only resonates with people that he feels are oppressed. so the weaker party is by definition an oppressed party that is more right than wrong. it happens to be showing their own desire for destiny and this includes everything of where he is for the rest of the world and we thank you for sharing this with us tonight.
