>> thank you. lou: the call to shared intelligence by european officials, they are carrying out the broadest range of raids against radical islamists in history. what do you make of this? >> we have to enlist our arab friends to stop financing and stop educating children to be terrorists. we have to bring them into this global effort to illuminate radical terrorism. i am convinced that this is about an ideology and it's not about specific individuals. and i have to believe that a muslim family somewhere in the world who is not radicalized is just a scared with sharia law and when they see individuals thrown off a roof or flogged, that they don't see this as normal and i believe that we

need our arab friends to speak against this. lou: at the same time you create a paradox for this president and his administration, which maintains that there is no al qaeda was not on the run that the islamic state itself is not islamic, that won't use the phrase radical islamists when referring to terrorism, that is universally radical islamist terrorism that we are engaged in in the so-called war on terror. how do you get around that? >> welcome i don't think that there's a person in the world today that believes that al qaeda has been decimated. whether that is core al qaeda or others, al qaeda in the arabian peninsula. they are alive and well they thrive they direct they train. what we have seen in france as they have executed and we need to be just as concerned with

execution throughout europe as we are with execution here in the united states. now, we don't have any threats that we are following that are specific, but we see more especially on the internet and social media than i ever have in the 14 years that i've been on the intelligence committee since 2000. it doesn't have to be spectacular like 9/11 to do a tremendous amount of damage not just to individuals but to a fragile global economy. lou: your reaction to leon panetta, mike morell has been leading the agency and both men say that in effect sooner or later al qaeda radical islamist terror, will be attacking this country. are you as fatalistic as they are? >> leon panetta and mike morell call balls and strikes and they definitely have called a strike this time. we have the best intelligence

organization in the world, we have the best enforcement and counterintelligence and we do a tremendous job of surveilling those individuals that we think might carry out this. and so i think that is what leon panetta and mike are expressing. it's things that we don't know and it's events like terrorists takedowns like belgium things that give us new intelligent mode so we can go out and track down whether there is an individual here that we need to be aware of, but here is the key thing, you can't take away the tools and we have to have the access to metadata. we have to have the ability for pfizer warns to be exercised with sufficient court supervision. take them away from us and our intelligence and law enforcement

lou: and nasa scientists whipping back claims that this was the warmest year on record. the climate scientists are now only 38% sure that last year set a key record at all. maybe they are taking votes on this nonsense. there was no mention at all about the astronomical "new york times" article reporting on the allegedly warmest year on record. we will let you know if nasa takes another vote on this and just how much confidence they are placing on their statements.
