abroad. what we going to do with health care and taxes and regulation? >> people are getting a hint of all of that. stocks have come off of their lows, still a triple digit loss gdp numbers just 2.4% growth in the last three months of 2014 and that is weighing on stocks. the big story is shake shack doubling as they debut less than an hour ago, john wayfield of bermuda, a changing of the guard story with mcdonald's getting all this flak and in comes the new hip cool place. would you by shake shack? >> not here and not because it is not a great company but you are talking 63 stores in five years compared that to mcdonald's's 36,000 stores they have worldwide but the growth story of shake shack is

legitimate. they found a way to hit a niche market. mcdonald's is trying to be all things to all people and lost its identity. shake shack is a well-run company. my problem is valuation. $1.7 billion, $82 million revenue company per year. evaluation is significantly out of line. >> would you buy mcdonald's here? >> i might. 3.8% yield, mcdonald's is a well-run company. the problem with mcdonald's is it has gotten so big, they tried to get into salads. 2.3, some type of chicken wrapped with a cucumber and it was a horrible disaster. i think if they went back to fast-food they would be better off but they are profitable company with a good yield. >> this gets back to the questions i have that i thought were why up castle (las vegas their first store on the west coast and they ran out of inventory. don't know if it was just a

few months, only 2.6%, the editorial board, the economic plan is not working. what is going on 1 quince 6% growth? >> this president's economics is fundamentally a tax and spend economics. we layered american business with red tape, higher taxes and health-care uncertainty and the economy simply can't take off. we got able-bodied people out there who can't find a job. this economy continues to limp along. >> one number that jumped out on this report was consumer spending was okay, it was 4.3% but when you get to where consumer spending by far the biggest spending item was health care. does that mean that people were trying to get to the doctor to get their insurance cover whatever they wanted covered by the end of the year or was it people that had obamacare policies that found out the deductible was so high they had

to write a check? >> it could have been both. you add the deflationary fresher we are getting from abroad, it is not just our economy that is not taking off, the european union is in a mess with greece and portugal and italy and japan limping along as well because they are trying the same failed policies that we try in this country for the last six years. we have 3% growth for years. this is not normal. there is every possibility so we could find ourselves as the next japan if we continue these policies. tom: john, you are off shore. how do you look at the u.s. economy? >> i travel every week to two three cities in the united states even though i spent most of my weak and in bermuda. my golf game won't improve but neither will let u.s. economy. you are right, consumer spending

was much higher because oil prices were down. inventory levels pick up, but you had business spending significantly down and the economic policies of this administration are nonexistent and simply not working. you are seeing some growth in the consumer. a lot of health care, consumer is 70% of the economy. that part is good. tom: amazon is a big winner today after reporting they had a strong holiday sales. you are still with us. would you buy amazon here? >> yes i would. i don't own it but i would buy it. amazon would serve as to me the cloud is the biggest growth engine they have. they have not broken out financials yet but revenue was up 90% year over year. they did announce, a portion of the company, amazon hitting on all cylinders. jeff bezos is a great ceo. >> google is another one that

everyone is talking about. it is also a winner brought in $1 billion a week last quarter says it will keep spending big on futuristic products. what is your future with google? >> the country is better for having google. we have the driverless car, google x prius google x is doing incredible things with renewable energy to all kinds of things most companies can't afford to spend but as far as the underlying fundamentals growth had slowed, this is a profitable company but i see head winds ahead as far as growth and numbers are catching up to this company. tom: apple hitting an all-time record high. now that it is up there what do you do with that one? >> i would take profits in this. apple very interesting paradigm shift when you have bill gates come along, software is the most important part, steve jobs coming along say we can make a lot of money in hardware. you are seeing no innovation.

very fragmented raise and is wide open. tom: to translate what you said he got some those on the phone calls. >> there is little doubt he didn't see the enthusiasm but from his point of view it made sense for him to try this effort rather than wait until six months or so from now so he knows what the answer is, he did the right thing by cutting it off. i don't think there's any damage to him. he looks good. >> what does it mean for jeb bush? >> agree is one obstacle out of the way. i was just out in des moines making my pitch for foreign policy to be returned to the center of the political debate and there wasn't a lot of enthusiasm for mitt romney or jeb bush in that group. they are not big contributors, just ordinary people who vote and organize, that sort of thing. tom: the poll we have is jeb bush is ahead by 2 percentage points over mike huckabee and rand paul. you talk about three characters that don't seem to fit in the same sentence.

exponentially here. the analysts and experts on wall street want to see if it merits this kind of gain we're seeing. it has a relatively small footprint. i know it's basically a roadside burger stand. which is what they call themselves. they have 63 restaurants and plan on opening ten a year. and expect to grow about 450 domestic shake shacks. it has that popularity, particularly here in new york. the question is whether or not they can really continue to expand. and that's what everyone is betting on, tom. they're betting on the growth prospects of this company. we had the ceo, the leaders of the company on earlier today. they talked about that. >> yeah. it's a fascinating story. anthony, i don't know what you think of this -- did the underwriter leave -- obviously left a lot of money on the table. but why it? >> because danny is a brilliant marketer. this is a sexy story. it's okay to leave money on the table in a story like this. you're bringing a lot of

investors and customers. danny is a great merchant. obviously a great product. ridiculously overvalued here. in this case, i would buy the hamburger and not the stock. buy the milkshake and not the stock here. mcdonald's however, is very, very interesting as a contrarian play. about ten years ago they restructured the menu. they're going to restructure the menu again. >> you look at mcdonald's, they're big and giant. so was sears at one time. >> it's different though. we love sugar fat, salt. we don't love tools and clothes -- >> we like hip and cool like starbucks. >> mcdonald's reinvented itself before. it's 3.6 dividend yield. very fat yield. large caption stock. they'll buy back a ton of shares. the story, 19 times forward earning.

>> well, you know, it's really hard to say. you know there's a lot of great work being done on network television. i will say that one of the great advantages that we have is that we have more time. you know, a network television show will often do 22 episodes in a season, and, you know, the first season of "better call saul" is ten episodes. it takes us just as long. it just means we have more time not so much to shoot the show, but to think it through and to work in the writer's room and edit it and do our damnedest to make it the best we think it can possibly be. >> the way you market the show. i was crossing the street across the building this morning. there goes the new york city transit by with a bus board about time to call saul. you have billboards all over the country. the thing about them, it looks like an ad for saul's law firm.

we have shake shack on the rise. mcdonald's getting beat up. what's your take on all this fast food? >> well, at mcdonald's i did not know don thompson, the ceo. but because he came up through operations and because they now had two declining years -- two years of declining sales, i think there's more going on in this change that meets the eye. mcdonald's has been accused of maybe having a bloated menu and sloppy service. an operations ceo wouldn't allow that to happen. they're replacing him with a marketing guy/branding guy. somebody thinks they can advertise their way out of this sales slump. i know it will take more than that. if the menu is bloated they will have to debloat. tom: that makes a lot of sense.

game control board, we need to do things that are played out on the field that no one knows or has any inkling that it can happen before we do. somebody knows if richard sherman's baby is coming before we do. >> that's a good point. johnny. thank you so much. i know you'll enjoy the game. joining us now is jon taffer. a frequent guest on this program. jon, 13 million people they don't stay home. they go to the bars and restaurants for this weekend. is this -- if you own a bar or restaurant, how do you prepare for this? and is this where you can get some new customers that will come back? >> oh, it is. and as you probably know i'm one of the creators of sun bay ticket. another football industry. there's two things. obviously, you're going to fill up. you'll have a lot of people. there's usually a unique factor. bars about an hour and a

half. in the super bowl environment, they'll be there four hours. a 4-hour period of time, you can feed them three or four times not just once. [laughter] the smart operator entrée program. sandwich program. then deserts. then salty baskets. keep the food and beverages coming for that 4-hour time. that's unique. normally you turn the table every 50 minutes to get a revenue stream. you have to milk that one group of guests for four hours. that's a different approach. >> that's a great point. i've always been told that they're in the real estate business. they're renting out space on their floor. but in this case the people are staying for the whole darn day. you have to figure out how to make money out of them. >> if they order a typical order, which would be one hour at a table. they're there four hours. i'm losing 70% of my
