8:30 am
john brady. >> i'm going with the seahawks. our quarter is coming up. let's look at the team again. t brady. >> i'm going with the seahawks. our quarter is coming up. let's look at the team again. o brady. >> i'm going with the seahawks. our quarter is coming up. let's look at the team again. m brady. >> i'm going with the seahawks. our quarter is coming up. let's look at the team again. forget whether this guy is using deflated balls. this guy has massive ones. i'm neil cavuto. welcome. cuba's president raul castro's message to america pay up. demanding cash for past damages and demanding we close up shop at guantanamo bay and pay up for the cleanup while we are at it, if we want any deal. we have our own messages. what do you make of this? >> i guess we've emboldened the guy, right?
8:31 am
i don't understand this i'm a boxing fan. if i'm watching a fight and a guy sees another guy for nine rounds and the tenth guy the guy winning falls on the campus of course this guy raul thinks he is winning and making demands. i would, too. we turned this upside down. we beat them. why does president obama now back over backwards? i would keep asking for stuff castro. >> i have no idea about that analogy. are we on the ground? who is rocky and who is apollo creed. >> the guy's driving a 50-year-old car and we're on the canvas. >> cuba needs us more than we need them. i don't understand. >> you hear what he is saying. raul is saying you do this, this, this and all the embargoes or no deal what do we say? >> could you imagine ronald reagan being given this ultimatum after he got off the floor dying of laughter, he would say no.
8:32 am
>> one we are going to send them potentially massive amounts of money in the tourist traffic that will be heading south to cuba. i hate this normalized relations with cuba. we actually collect pre-revolution like cuban glasses from the casinos down there. >> who does do you? >> yeah, i do. old newspapers. >> there is something weird about that. >> cuba was cool back in the day. >> there is that. >> ben stein what do you make of what's going on here? it's clear cuba gets money out of this deal. it gets more out of this, at least initially, than we. am i missing something? what do you think? >> first of all, was that a picture of buddy holly raul castro had on his desk? >> it was. >> this is a pay-off to obama's old lefty buddies who always loved castro. the whole thing has no economic significance. it's a way of him saying to his old lefty buddies from long,
8:33 am
long ago, community organized community based see i kept my promise to you. i'm going to be easy on castro. make friends with cuba. count on me. i'm still in there with the brigade. there is no -- the idea cuba is asking us for anything after the way they seized u.s. property, after they tormented the families of people in the united states from cuban heritage, it's almost unbelievable. >> we do know for a fact they rounded up more dissidents in cuba since this verbal agreement on the part of the president and castro. i'm beginning to wonder what we are getting out of it. i will see the economic possibilities there. this could be a boon to american companies that set up shop there. i don't know how quickly, how immediate, but that's about the extent of it what do you say? >> what we are seeing are the dying days of the old regime. >> doesn't look like it's dying.
8:34 am
>> we won't give him. >> what do you mean we won't give him? you don't think we are going to give him money? >> yeah. we won't -- we are not going to get out of guantanamo bay. we are not going to do what he is asking. we have a very good opportunity to say take it or leave it. >> we are. the president made it clear we are going to shut down guantanamo. that is one step away from making condos. >> the prison. we are not leaving the naval base. we have no intention of leaving guantanamo bay. >> we shouldn't give them anything. ben is right on the money. if you listen to certain members of the new york city council or our wonderful mayor bill de blasio and members of congress, there is a whole contingent of lefties that think cuba is good because they provide socialized medicine and a few other perks in exchange of totalitarianism. they want us to appease anything they do. >> you know what i see? it never fails.
8:35 am
i don't care what your views are of cuba. the appeal of the almighty american dollar. we try to use this to influence the middle east and it hasn't helped. one thing to put a deposit on friendship, but i'll be damned of putting a down payment on someone spitting us in the face. >> we opened the door for cuba to spit in our face even more. leave it alone. >> he's giving us ultimatums. >> leave it alone. you want a normalized relations with cuba? well, if it was the status quo we wouldn't be in this. we opened the door to ridicule and demands. >> what makes you think this is indicting -- i would like to think it's the dying days of the castro regime. let me make my point. price of oil is going down dramatically. venezuela is still basically communist, still run by a dictatorship. what makes you think they are just going to give it all up
8:36 am
immediately when we start helping them out? the chinese haven't done that. >> dying regimes don't give up easily. they complain loudly make demands and beat their chest. this is a poor country. we know it's a poor country. they know it's a poor country. they would like to stay in power. >> how do you know that? >> how do you know? are they going to be any less belligerent than venezuela? >> the issue is who is "they?" i don't think the castros will be in power after a handful of years. >> you are telling me there is a loyal opposition forming that is much more democratic? i don't hear about it that much. >> ben stein, you were saying? >> there is no sign whatsoever
8:37 am
that they are stopping their oppression of dissidents and the ladies in white. their cruelty towards the ladies in white women demanding civil rights for women increased and their brutality increased. >> neither did the east germans or poles or romanians. >> that is such baloney. >> that is a whole different story. >> oh, god. >> the president might say what have we gotten for 60 years of this? we appear to have gotten not much out of it. maybe to your point, cuba has gotten even less out of it. something's got to change and the grudge has got to be put aside what do you say to that? >> i love when a president says if you do something for 50 years and it doesn't work, why do you keep doing it? that's my same response to the war on poverty. i know i'm digressing a little bit. >> the bottom line is we are
8:38 am
winning this thing tremendously. because venezuela is running out of money, because russia is running out of money. we are winning it more rapidly. this is an odd time for us to fold on this issue. it's a curious odd time. >> speaking of italian families, is this like the ornery uncle you have that you hate and you try to be nice and invite him to your house and three weeks later, he doesn't leave and starts making demands on you? >> i do know grudges can last a long time. i think what the president is saying and i'll give him the benefit, what have we gotten from this 50, 60-year-old grudge. >> what do we need? >> it's the right thing to do. >> i understand. i'm not against opening up some relationships to them, but they have to give. they get a lot more out of this than we get. >> when they start demanding money, you draw the line there.
8:39 am
>> way before that. >> adam, when they are demanding all this money you the united states have to do this, this and this, if you were president would you say that's enough? that's going too far? >> take it or leave it. we made you a generous offer. the offer stands. >> what is the offer just that we recognize you? >> yeah. which will bring them a lot of money with normal trades with them. a lot of money. >> your thoughts on that? >> cuban is already an enormous tourist destination. interestingly enough, i read this in the new york times, big huge sex tourist destination. >> okay. dave, what have you got coming up? >> a key u.s. military leader calling out the administration for not calling out islamic terrorists. is being too pc putting our way of life in jeopardy? also apple reaping praise over its record $178 billion bucks in cash.
8:40 am
why are folks at "forbes" calling it rotten news for america? see you at the top of the hour. >> thanks david. up here next, would i ever say no to going to the front of the buffet line? ask yourself this, what do you think illegals are going to say when immigration agents ask them
8:41 am
8:42 am
8:43 am
i'm kelly wright. back to neil cavuto. is the administration making it even easier for illegals to stay here in america? according to a new report,
8:44 am
immigration agents are under orders to ask illegals if they qualify for the president's executive order and if they don't know about it, to let them know about it. ben stein that has disaster written all over it. >> what it has written about it mr. obama believes americans are going to change become a more hispanic country. he is not going to fight it. maybe even wants it. maybe likes it. the whole character of america is going to change. i don't think necessarily for the worse. i just say we in southern california have a great many hispanic immigrants. they are the salt of the earth. they are incredibly hard-working wonderful people. though i these are awfully good people to have working in america. >> is this hurting those who are going through the legal process? >> it's a slap in their face. >> we already rolled out the red
8:45 am
carpet. come on in. >> this is 4 to 5 million deportations. i think it's paying for the other 15 mchlt. >> it shows you how the republican congress were talking about defunding. how do you defund this? this is plain and simple. the president writes the rules on stuff like this. the border agents have to follow it. it just shows how powerful the president is on matters of this nature. >> this should not fall or immigration agents. it's up to immigrants and their attorneys if they qualify for this program. it's like telling me and irs agents telling me to have children because it would be a great tax deduction for me if i had kids. >> you do. >> telling about a loophole if you get in and can't get out kind of thing. there is already a legal process for becoming a citizen and getting into the country.
8:46 am
>> i think you brought up a good example. i completely disagree with you. it would be the right thing to do for the irs to have some system where they pointed out to you, hey, you are entitled to a deduction. you should take it. that's what the law is. >> that's not their job. that it's job of the individuals. >> what is wrong with saying to people, hey, you qualify for something here. >> the irs should be doing our taxes and immigration -- >> i'm not saying that. irs could easily screen and say you missed something that is an opportunity for you. >> we are an overburdened country and overburdened government. there were immigration cases that have just been delayed five years in the courts. >> do you think anyone will give you an honest answer if an agent presents this? >> i know a lot of hispanics. they don't like people getting in here illegally getting ready to take their job. we have a social problem where we have a lot of people, if you write code in this country you can make a lot of money.
8:47 am
but on the low end, wages aren't moving. when you -- >> let me make this point when you start flooding the work force with people willing to work for very cheap -- i'm a southern immigrant. >> you are? >> my grandparents. when people are like that, they will work for less money. >> adam? >> perfectly good point. we also have illegal immigration problem in this country. president bush tried and failed because of congress to solve this problem. president obama tried and failed. now he is taking action on it. the hope is that we are going to help get it solved. >> this is not a solution. >> it is a solution. >> once you make it to a city in this country illegally, you are never going to be kicked out of this country. the only places we turn people away is at the border. now we are not going to turn them away at the border. ben brought up the idea controlling our borders.
8:48 am
do we have a legitimate right to have control how people come into this country and become citizens? p if not? it's a free for all. >> is it a free for all, ben stein? >> it is a free for all. we have a giant pot of money social programs law and order. naturally people from south of the border who live in chaotic and impoverished conditions are going to use every possible means to get here and we are not going to stop them. >> this emboldens them, does it not? >> absolutely. >> we'll take a quick break. up next -- >> these guys just heard about a new plan for hiking taxes offer drivers. it cou the lightest or nothing. the smartest

. well, the more you drive the more you pay. literally. you heard about this? lawmakers in california -- it always is california, right -- they're looking to scrap the gas tax replacing it with a new tax for every mile you drive. charles pane other states already toing around with this, i think oregon, washington state what do you make of it? >> it's another one of these taxes that gets out of control and i think ultimately hurts poor people a lot more than rich people. i mean in new york city the richest people often get driven to work or they live so close to work they can walk there. rural areas people might drive a long kiss ans to get to their job at walmart or somewhere. i think it's backwards. >> it actually hits the levity liberals who are driving electric cars. then you're not paying any money to fix the roads in your state
8:53 am
because you don't pay think gas tax. >> poorer working people -- >> dagen doesn't care about poor people. >> i think the more you drive the more you pay, period. this is the fairest way of dealing with -- >> don't you worry about how they monitor where you're driving? what if you drive out of state? >> there is an app that one of the states was using to monitor it. >> just what we need an app for that. >> big brother government. >> what do you think -- >> following us everywhere. >> they take a photo of your car. >> who are you calling a ding bat? mr. ding bat to you. >> across state lines to pick up your fried green tomatoes. >> they take your photo. >> i think the main problem is the privacy issue. how do we get -- >> huge issue. >> do you know what, government -- we don't want government stepping into our lives any more than it already is. especially here in california. let's keep them out of -- >> you have to register your car
8:54 am
and pay taxes on it every year. all they do is look at your odometer. >> the da -- >> they don't read our owe domters. >> it's hard for you ben in the back seat to take a peak at it. >> adam, what do you make of this? are you okay with this? >> the gas tax was a fair way to pay for the roads but it's not working because we won't raise it. this is a perfectly fair way to approach it going forward. >> so your way, adam we're going to have the gas tax and this? >> but the gas tax is insufficient. it never goes up. so it's sort of like a minor annoyance at this point. >> federal doesn't go up but state gas taxes across the country have gone up. cook county in chicago you're paying a county tax, state sex city tax add that to your cigarette tax.
8:55 am
>> what happens to the 100 million bucks in tolls and state and federal had gas taxes fees transportation taxes, where is that money going. >> you could say we've caused if a on roads and bridges then i'm all for grudge i thinkly so getting more money. >> into a lockbox. >> i want the ding bat wing of the group to make a couple points. number one, i'm with ben on this we're got dingbats but number two isn't it odd that we are they're doing this just as the entire middle class got a big tax can cut. >> dagen what do you make of it real quick. >> sn. >> he's not a ding bat and i love him. >> i'm just a bat. >> all right. my thanks to dagen and charlie, i think. any more trims yet to go on? i'm going to the super bowl. >> excellent. fine. all right. up next tom and russell, they have got nothing on ben, charles and adam. super stocks from our super duper stock quarterbacks.
