2:00 am
you. so clear enough? [laughter] forget about the market. lou dobbs is next. >> at evening, everyone, i am ashley webster in for lou dobbs. president obama dismissing the controversial sale of a sophisticated missile system to iran. and the president went further saying that he was surprised it didn't happen sooner. we will take up the president's dangerous policy failures in the middle east with former u.s. ambassador to saudi arabia robert jordan. in the meantime jeb bush aligning himself with president obama. the potential candidate pushing people to adopt the president's stance on amnesty for illegal immigrants and the confirmation
2:01 am
of lynch were attorney general. we will discuss how about could affect bush's chances for a run in the white house. and a sea of red we will tell you what is behind today's market selloff. we begin with president obama's foreign policy decision or lack thereof. italy's prime minister today at an event where the president said he refused to rule out that all sink sanctions could end immediately in a final nuclear deal. ed henry has our report. >> president obama said he did not want to interfere with john kerry's negotiation, a signal that he is open to letting them get immediate sanctions relieved just days after the supreme leader tran-eight said that was
2:02 am
one of two key conditions to get a final deal by the end of june. >> part of this job is to sometimes find formulas they get to the main concerns while allowing for the other side to make a presentation to their politics that is more acceptable reporter: the president added twice for emphasis that his main concern is making sure that if iran breaks the agreement that sanctions can be snapped back in place. he downplayed concerns that bladder approved and is now showing iran defensive missiles. >> i think we surprised that are held as long. given that they were not prohibited by sanctions from knowing these defensive weapons.
2:03 am
>> that came as speaker john boehner sharpened his attacks on the president for your letting the u.s. take a backseat role to iran against isis on the ground. >> i think the fact that they accepted the offer from the iranians helping to direct the fight, it should be an embarrassment to the country. >> and another key city today isis launched a complex attack on the u.s. consulate, starting with a car bomb and followed by an eight man assault team which killed one person and wounded five others. all u.s. personnel were counted for. >> i think that they remain a dangerous place. >> republicans are also furious that chairman martin dempsey suggested that it did not matter much that isis has advanced on the city of or mahdi. >> it's not symbolic and anyway. >> a frequent critic said that it was stunning and this is the place where in 2006 u.s. forces
2:04 am
battle to take the city back as part of the awakening. >> now this general says that it really doesn't matter. and i wonder what he would say to the families of marines and soldiers and brave americans that were killed and wounded in the battle. >> the president spoke by phone today with the king of saudi arabia about yemen where of course iran rebels have seized power. ashley: also in iraq today government forces say they believe that they have killed the last member of saddam hussein's inner circle who had have been working alongside the islamic state. the former deputy to the iraqi leader known as the king of clubs on the u.s. military most wanted iraqi regime fugitives. joining me now robert jordan thank you for joining us
2:05 am
tonight, ambassador. before we get into the question, let's talk about what is going on. and please pick up the point that john mccain was saying in his criticism of general martin dempsey, saying that yes, we understand that or mahdi is important and we have other things to worry about. would you agree with the joint chiefs of staff? >> i think that we need to be careful to understand exactly what he has said, he said that it is not embolic. by that i think he meant symbolic to the islamic states and also to the efforts to contain them. he certainly would never have suggested that the blood and sacrifice of the soldiers made in fighting for romani wasn't worth it by any means. i worked closely with him when he was a one star general in saudi arabia helping train the saudi national guard, he's a bright guy i have no doubt
2:06 am
about his patriotism or his judgment. i think that he is saying, we have constrained the jets and limitations, we have a very constrained area that we can work in and we have to prioritize. and so the oil refinery would allow the iraqi government to consolidate the oil infrastructure in the and i think that is what he is saying is the most important from a timing standpoint. i didn't take this as denigrating the efforts for its own importance, it's simply a matter of priority and resources. ashley: iraqi prime minister was talking to president obama this week slamming the operations in yemen, saying that it could stoke a water, things like what is going on in yemen into complete chaos anyway. what about the saudi arabian role in yemen and wait until you see that going. we have saudi arabia and
2:07 am
warships as well as iranian warships it seems that the water is getting ready to boil over, so to speak. >> the yemen account was really the saudi arabian account for many years and they went back and worked with the president and eased him out and thought that they had made a new deal with the new president and he turned out not to be an effective leader. i think that the saudi arabians are trying to degrade these militarily and all of us have been surprised at how fast they were able to move in down south and i think that what we are seeing them do is degrade him to the extent that they would then be willing to enter into the negotiations to set up some sort of split government or unity government down the line. the airstrikes have not been particularly effective they have led to a number of civilian casualties and i think that we still have yet to see whether this is going to be an effective military venture or not.
2:08 am
ashley: what is your thoughts about getting a deal with iran to use the one that is perhaps appropriate, giving too much away and that it will be hard to take it back once it has been put in place? >> and skeptical and concerned it we would easel sanctions immediately. even though there's an ocean of snapping back i don't know what that means because the europeans are at the border salivating at the chance to come in and do business here. they are desperate to come in. i doubt seriously that this coalition would hold together once the sanctions have been lifted we would have to find a way of going back, the security council would likely not have the same kind of unanimity and so i'm very concerned that we don't have an enforceable sanctions deal because of the
2:09 am
difficulty of putting the genie back in the bottle. ashley: ambassador robert jordan, thank you for joining us tonight. we appreciate it. in the meantime, china wrapping up this. disputing the territory in the south china sea. what you are looking at when china became the reclamation project, now nearly 2 miles of runway is more than one third complete. significantly ramping up tensions with vietnam and the philippines, both of which claim. president obama says he had concerns about china using sheer size and muscle to force countries into subordinate positions. but the warnings have apparently not deter them. we're coming right back. coming up next republican presidential hopefuls as the

2:14 am
the entire field of hopefuls descending on the first in the nation's primaries before republican leadership summit. karl cameron is in new hampshire with our report. >> holding the first presidential primary in the nation and the first in the nation's summit is the unofficial kickoff of the campaign. twenty potential candidates taking the podium to speak and it is their first opportunity in a big crowd to distinguish themselves from one another. >> governor chris christie spent the last three days in new hampshire. >> the american people are anxious, they are filled with anxiety and not anger. they are worried about their country and they should be. and the reason for that is feckless leadership by this president. >> though chris christie's bombastic personality has been a liability at times at times he has won it like a badge. >> some say that i'm too straightforward.
2:15 am
i think that we could use a little bit of that in washington dc enact rate kerry is getting something of a reputation for his animated speaking style often putting his whole body into it. he said it's not enough for republicans to complain. >> our leaders are failing the test. the conservative movement must be the agent of reform. >> at a presummit town hall meeting, jeb bush was asked about controversial attorney general nominee loretto -- loretta lynch. >> there should be some deference to the executive whether you agree with that or not. reporter: bush headlined the breakfast today and said that he is the most conservative in the packed i would match my record with anyone is thinking about running and has thought about running in the last 20 years. it's one of result. >> at the summit late this afternoon, he again confronted suspicions. >> a lot of us are not looking
2:16 am
for a republican in name only. >> i don't see any coronation coming my way i have to earn it and no one's going to give it to me. that is more than apparent. reporter: bush proposed an increase in the social security eligibility age bringing him in line with chris christie who spent several days in new hampshire distancing himself from the rest of the pack. ashley: thank you very much, karl cameron. martin o'malley still is not a declared candidate but he keeps taking shots at the front runner knocking hillary clinton's views on same-sex marriage, saying that i'm glad secretary clinton has come around to these issues, i believe that we are best when we lead with our principles and not according to the polls. specifically clinton has
2:17 am
supported gay marriage as a state issue and now she supports a constitutional amendment and she was previously vague about giving illegal immigrants a drivers license and now she is all for it. joining me now is the chairman of the american conservative union matt schlapp and republican strategist mercedes schlapp. thank you for being here tonight. let's pick up on something that jeb bush said. i'm the most conservative guy in the pack. when you look at his stance on immigration and his comments on loretta lynch, he doesn't seem to be a man or candidate that is when to appeal to the far right. let me begin with you on jeb bush. what do you think? >> he came to the presidential nomination where it starts and he just conservatives. he went to the board meeting and he made a very strong pitch for his record.
2:18 am
and he has common core and that is his position on immigration. but there were a slew of other issues, he cut taxes every year, very strong second amendment, fighting the teachers union. so it's more complicated than people want to make it but the fact is that he said that he's going to have to make it and he's going to have to earn it, no one is expecting this to be an easy ride. ashley: mercedes scott walker is the man to beat in new hampshire, many gop voters picking him next in line with ted cruz all the way back of 10%. what about him? >> i think that governor scott walker has made an impression on the grassroots on the base in several states in iowa and new hampshire, we are starting to see his numbers grow in south carolina and i do a bad it is
2:19 am
still wide open. we saw marco rubio raise over $1 million a day after he announced that he is trying to make a breakthrough in states like new hampshire and of course we have the jeb bush situation which means will the tea party wrote break apart and go into the water category or why. jeb bush holds into that with the moderate vote. ashley: we saw chris christie in usual chris christie style plain speaking and taking pride in that. can he connect with enough people running for the presidential nominee? >> as likable as his candor is, it seems awfully hard with all of the bad press and scandalous that he has had to suffer through to see how he breakthrough. but he has great political skills, i don't blame him for giving it a shot look at how
2:20 am
many people are running, he might as well give it a shot what could possibly -- he can't lose anything. by the way, he might help us along the way by the fact that he raised these issues. >> that is true, mike huckabee saying tonight come join me in arkansas not to go to the clinton museum but to come see an announcement that i'm going to make. he said that he feels the buzz again. what about mike huckabee? >> governor huckabee is amazing at connecting with the voters, he did that in iowa in 2008 ,-com,-com ma with that being said again we have almost 20 candidates that are thinking about jumping into this race and i think it's going to be difficult for him to breakthrough in other states like this and at the end it's going to be who can raise the money and who can build a really good campaign machine and all these important states. right now you have to give it to jeb bush and probably governor scott walker and senator marco
2:21 am
rubio. ashley: at what point are they are too many candidates fighting over the same things. at some point does it start to hurt the gop? >> no don't worry, the one thing that's going to happen is as the money starts running out in the calendar starts going forward and the primaries get behind, they will win out. and so as a matter of a fact, i think that having this where we have a real discussion with what we think is important, you keep raising questions about whether or or not social citizens or it are theirs whose jeb bush appealed to come in fact is the person who did this nomination has to break out. mike huckabee is going to break out, start to appeal to other types of conservatives the candidate that appeals to social conservatives, as all conservatives, people that were worried about what is happening these, he's going to appeal to all three types and that is the candidate it's going to be the
2:22 am
nominee. ashley: very quickly, probable candidates on the democratic side martin o'malley are to going after hillary for her flip-flop. who do you think could be a real contender to challenge hillary on the democratic side? >> with the liberal base would want would be senator elizabeth warren which we know is not going to run. at least not at this point. but hillary is her own worst enemy, we saw her fumble after day with comments that she's made setting up the stage meeting and she has fundamental problems as a candidate and she wants to be this everyday woman and they want to brand her likeness, but it's all not working and it's not real and i think the american people are going to see through that. that is why i'm so excited about the gop presidential candidates because they are bringing this
2:23 am
and being real and the way that they are connecting to the voters and try to make their case. ashley: we have a long way to go and it's going to be a lot to cover. we will be talking to you many times between now and the election. take you both for being here and be sure to vote in tonight's poll. do you believe that the expanding pool of republican candidates is a good or bad thing for the gop chances of taking back the white house in 2016? i just ask matt that very question. cast your vote at loudobbs.com. and check this out, several friends of hillary clinton have already declined to endorse her presidential candidacy, bill de blasio being one of them. but she just picked up an entire collection of new friends, one that might make this. and then there is the moonlight bunny ranch launching their campaign. highlighting for policy points

and highlighting her work as secretary of state. stating that the girls have great respect for any woman who can take men from powerful cultures and make them then to her world. and there you go. any excuse to run the video and i'm sure that hillary is happy about the endorsement. coming up next, the president's immigration amnesty and the president today had his day in court we will bring you that live. massive tornadoes and baseball sized hail ripping through texas and the midwest plains i have the

2:29 am
november many started questioning the constitutionality of it all. >> the president can't say i've got a great idea. now let's go do it. it's a constitutional process up to congress to pass the laws. >> reporter: texas along with 25 other states almost immediately filed a lawsuit against the feds and won. a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction in february putting the president's plan on hold saying the administration abused power. justice department lawyers argued their case before a select panel of three judges at the fifth circuit court of appeals. fighting to let executive actions proceed while fighting the preliminary injunction. >> in no case have the states been found to have standing because they have no recognizable interest in who is prosecuted under the immigration laws. >> reporter: the d.o.j. says the snag harms the ability to enforce border security and public safety while the lawyer representing the coalition of states named in the suit says
2:30 am
the deal would place a tremendous financial burden on all levels of government. >> the u.s. code triggers benefits based on whether someone has lawful presence. you're eligible for social security and medicare. earned income tax credit unemployment insurance. >> reporter: today two of the more conservative judges on the court express skepticism about the president's plan on overhauling immigration without congressional action but did not indicate when a ruling would be issued. ashley? ashley: casey stegall, thank you very much for that report. texas has been the site of massive tornadoes and baseball-sized hail storms yesterday and today. at least eight full size twisters made landfall with two more in the oklahoma and kansas plains. no deaths or injuries reported as of now with most residents claiming that the hail and rain caused more damage than the twisters themselves. angry looking clouds. visitors of the zoo in

. ashley: airplane wi-fi systems vulnerable to cyberattack. that's according to a new report from government accountability office. that report warning that if a plane's control system uses the same wiring or router as the on board internet it opens the plane up to a cyberattack from a passenger or someone on the ground. hackers could place a virus into the flight controls take control of the navigation system or commandeer the aircraft. joining me to assess the latest cyberthreat john lucich from the network security group. thank you very much for being here, john. this is frightening stuff the report feeds into something i think other people think about.
2:36 am
listen, if i'm on the internet, what's to stop me from connecting to the cockpit and the systems there and taking control. is that a real threat? >> here's what it is. while there's a potential for any computer on the internet to be vulnerable or to be on a network as vulnerable the probability here is very low for a lot of different reasons. the wi-fi unit when the aircraft is most vulnerable below 10,000 feet is off. they turn it off. once they get above 10,000 feet. why is it more vulnerable less altitude. the closer to the ground, the more vulnerable you are going to be. they're going to have time to react. in addition to that inside the cockpit they can manually shut down the wi-fi. if the airplane is acting in an unusual manner it should be part of the protocol to shut the wireless down. and lastly while they have manual override to fly the airplane themselves, they can shut down pieces of equipment they think are malfunctioning or have been hacked if that's a
2:37 am
possibility, and i don't believe that is by shutting down the circuit breakers. i believe this is overhyped. any time there is a potential but the probability here is very, very low that it would ever impact a flight. >> the problem is you get nervous when you say we have a fire wall, the banks have a fire wall and the pentagon they all got hacked. >> they're on the part of the internet that has millions and millions of people across the world. remember, these people are on an airplane if you're a small airplane, have you 50 to 300 people on a dreamliner 787, right? you are limited to only a couple hundred people on the airplane. if you put simple intrusion detection system in there. one of the reasons target said it got hacked is false positives. there is so much traffic. only couple hundred people on the airplane. the false positives are close to nothing it. could automatically set if there is an intrusion, shut the wireless down automatically. ashley: if the bigger threat here, an inside job, someone
2:38 am
that could leave these electronics vulnerable by changing codes. >> absolutely, and i've said that. i believe if somebody got a job inside an avionics company or inside the airlines and was actually able to plant something in a connective equipment that's where the vulnerability is. the way the systems are right now. and, i come from a different perspective. i own a company that does national assessments of, in governments and major corporations and casinos. i'm also a former jet pilot. i didn't fly for the airlines but licensed as a commercial pilot for over 30 years. i have a unique perspective than other security experts. i've done both of these. sit back and enjoy the ride boeing is a great company. ashley: air traffic control they're trying to update the system. if it becomes more connected to the internet. what if someone hacks into air traffic controls and flying planes into each other? >> there is a greater threat than what could happen on an airplane.
2:39 am
those facilities are connected to the internet. ashley: right. >> if they're not watching what they're doing and somebody is coming in i've got to believe the u.s. government is on top of that. we've heard hax, and this and that they are minor, no one has done anything of catastrophic value as a target because of a hack. the cia is doing a great job and technical staff. do we have issues? absolutely. we create the issues by placing our computers on the internet. but that makes us more efficient but also makes us more vulnerable, right? ashley: should they take wi-fi away from people on airplanes as a safety measure? >> no i loved it i flew united, i've flown southwest. it helps me get my job done. the threat is so scomploeshgs remember, they can shut the wireless done and they can manual override it. enjoy the flight. >> i feel better already. thank you so much john lucich for joining us tonight. all right, now the quotation from the evening from our very first president george

volume on the big board picking up to 3.6 billion shares. volatility high. the wilshire 5,000 measuring the day's losses at 300 billion dollars. for the week, the dow, s&p and nasdaq all down about 1%. here with his outlook for the markets and the economy, moody's capital markets chief economist john lonski. why the big sell-off what triggered this? >> market took a one-two punch from china and greece and china, they decided to put restrictions on the use of credit when purchasing shares. that doesn't bode well for their equity market which is probably badly inflating. we have more problems with greece as to whether or not another bailout. ashley: isn't that ho-hum greece has always been a problem. >> kicking the can down the road, i suppose the germans are at wit's end, i can't help but imagine a lot of people in germany are angry about negative interest rates. that's a country that likes to
2:46 am
say. incredible to think that right now, the 10-year german goffed bond yield is less than one-tenth of 1%. ashley: they are paying for everyone else's folly. i want to talk about oil prices coming back. the dollar, strong dollar. what has all this done for corporate earnings. >> rough corporate. corporate earnings are down for a year ago. this is going to hold true for the first three quarters of the this year. overall you will have corporate earnings decline for the s&p 500 2015. the market is going to dismiss this because it's the fault of lower energy prices and the stronger dollar. that being said i can't help but think that with earnings declining, companies are more cautious with high reconnectivity and capital spending. ashley: the economy is hitting a soft patch. the recovery has been slow at
2:47 am
best. we are hitting a bit of a soft patch does. this make difference to the fed and the rate hike decision? >> i think it does. right now the earliest the fed doesn't initiate a series of rate hikes until september 18th. ashley: not june? >> that's not going to happen forget about it. especially with today's sell-off. we have problems with china we don't fully appreciate. the fed is going to go slowly with rate hikes inflation is well contained. ashley: going up a little bit. >> it's going to go up a little bit but eventually the stronger dollar is going to kick in. i can't help but think that the companies that are too aggressive with price hikes are going to pay a price fairly soon in terms of smaller than expected sales volumes. ashley: what's your outlook for the economy. do you see it picking up, john in the second half? >> slightly. for the year we're looking at real gdp growth about 2.75%. ashley: very slow. >> and another year where we do
2:48 am
not realize 3% real gdp growth. the last time that happened was 2005 ten years ago. when we look forward, long-term growth for the u.s. economy. about 2.25%. in the past say the 25 years ended 2,000, that average growth rate was 3.25%. different world, different economy because of an aging population, in addition the u.s. economy is suffering from intense foreign competition from those emerging market countries. and if china is not doing well they will have more slack and that's going to mean less for u.s. workers. ashley: john lonski we appreciate it with your expertise on the markets today. big sell-off unfortunately. a reminder to listen to lou's financial reports three times a day on the salem radio network. a bad day for investors but a great week for "star wars"

timpf. tamara, what's your take on this? she's issued an apology didn't seem like much of an apology, to be honest with you she blamed it on the stressful situation, perhaps the bigger issue here is her character. >> that made for uncomfortable viewing because she kept delivering insult after insult. it didn't seem like a stressful you know what you say in the moment seems a little bit more constructed. ashley: nasty nasty, very debasing things. >> she didn't even apologize to the woman in the tweet. she doesn't view her as a human being, the woman she was essentially emotionally abusing. it was so personal. ashley: about her teeth, weight, her education level, everything. she covered all of it. >> seven days isn't enough. ashley: that's the next question. one week's suspension without pay. what do you think? is that enough? >> a personality on tv, the whole point is she needs to be
2:57 am
likable. people don't like her. she reminded me of people that were mean to me in high school but nice when the teacher was looking and, she finally got busted, right? she doesn't have a job regardless whether she does or not, technically she has no fans. ashley: the backlash of this, i've dealt with the towing company, they're terrible. kind of misses the point, doesn't it? >> nobody likes an experience with towing company it's inconvenience frustrating, and according to yelp reviews the towing company isn't getting raves. ashley: not that mania do. >> mchenry should not have launched into a personal attack. if you have a problem with the company. take it to management don't attack the clerk personally. ashley: we've got to move on. i love this story, interesting. spike lee is going to make a movie set in chicago called
2:58 am
shiraq, the black on black violence, number of young african-american people killed in a particular neighborhood in chicago and wants to address it in the movie. chicago mayor rahm emanuel is not happy about this, saying can you change the title it's a chamber of commerce nightmare to be called chiraq. what are your thoughts? >> the title makes chicago look bad. the movie is about violence in chicago. it's going to make people think about violence in chicago. what do you want it to be called, right? it's not like visit chicago.com, the movie. it's not going to be a positive title if it's not about a positive situation. so i mean sorry, then don't have the movie but everyone would be mad about that, what is he going to do? i don't know. ashley: tamara, should they change the title? too hard on chicago? >> the thing about titles is they have to engage the
2:59 am
audience. it is an engaging and interesting title. i mean it makes me want to watch it. and the other thing is it's raising awareness about this issue about violence in chicago south side, and having a conversation about it now. which i think is fantastic. >> what do you think? you think spike lee will listen to the mayor and change. he seems he'll do his own thing regardless right? >> that would be bad for his brand about being somebody who doesn't care about those things. >> he's calling it like it is. >> right if they say no, and chicago misses out on the opportunity. you have to hire a lot of people. ashley: that's right. >> and what title, that's what i want to ask him, what title do you want? come on. ashley: we shall see. we're running out of time. ladies, thank you very much tonight, appreciate it. coming up the poll question, time for a look at online poll results. we asked you --
