>> kingpin -- is supposedly dead. pentagon not confirming, pentagon not confirming the death of al-baghdadi. reports are confirming that the isis leader was hit in an airstrike. meanwhile the fbi is warning isis followers are targeting american soil. with california being singled out as one possible target. here to discuss, gregg jarrett, of fox news. we have jon podhoretz of "the new york post." i like calledcalling him j of pod. judy miller author of the story. fox news contributor. john, j of pod, let me start with you, what do you think of the reports on al-baghdadi not confirmed? telling fox news as recently this morning there is conflicting information out there? >> we should operate on the basis he probably isn't dead. that is the smart thing to do we know over the past decade how many times it has been reported that various terrorist leaders have been killed and they

haven't. it would be a very significant thing if he were because he is clearly a kind of operational genius, this guy. he has taken, he took a completely nascent movement and took it into one that controls vast swaths of territory in the, you know in the levant and mesopotamia. his death would be a significant blow to isis but we don't know. melissa: they have already talked about potential fill-ins if he wasn't there, judy? >> his designated successor the quiet physicist. my sources are saying conflicting evidence, not clear. this guy has had more lives than a cat. beyond that, the report comes from iran radio. that also said he was being treated in a hospital in the occupied golan heights. so i, you know, you have to take these reports with a grain of salt. >> yeah i'm skeptical as well. basically because it is the

source. but does underscore we've taken out a lot of top commanders of isis. now there is a lot more to go but it does point out that our airstrikes are doing some good. they could do a lot more good if we had intel on the ground to target mortar gets. melissa: yeah, es o especially we're talking about the most important person on the other side and we don't know if they are alive or dead. we do need more intel on the ground for sure. president george w. bush mixing it up with the man who followed him in the white house. in off the record meeting with jewish donors president bush reportedly slam slamming president obama's middle east policy as inept and dig organized. it puts u.s. in quote, retreat around the world. we looked into this this is one of those donor meetings supposed to be off the record. no notes allowed. you're not allowed to take anything outside of the room. i've been so one of these and, many of these in different capacities. you are not supposed to walk

out the whole idea they say to you very clearly and can not walk out to say what this person said. >> our job is to find out exactly what that person said and what they're not supposed to be telling us. of course they're going to talk. of course george bush must have known that or even dumber then a lot of people accuse him of being. >> having said that, he is famous for being frank off the record and in private and he has been pretty adamant and pretty serious in the course of the obama presidency about keeping his criticisms very quiet. i mean, not like dick cheney whose criticisms are very public. melissa: right. >> he himself held to this. if he said things off the record, it is interesting what he said. melissa: it is. at the same time, what are you saying? that he is very frustrated with the military policy. he thinks if you're going to talk about degrading and defeating someone you need to go out and quote, kill them. he is frustrated that president obama hasn't done that also

thinks what he is doing with iran is insane. >> made two points. basically said the president is getting snookered by tehran on the deal that nobody really knows the terms of. the second is he is withdrawing from the terrorist threat. he is not going on the attack. melissa: yeah. i think probably the second comment is even more significant because this is somebody who dealt with terror first-hand who dealt with 9/11. who went back out to wage a war against it. now he is watching someone do basically the opposite, would you agree? >> yeah. i think the frustration must be so intense for him because he did stablize iraq, albeit belatedly. but when american forces withdrew in 2011, the murder rate in ramadi was lower than chicago's. melissa: yeah. >> so he stablized the country. to have it all fall apart and see isis now capture territory the size of great britain must be truly horrifying for him. melissa: meanwhile the clinton foundation brushing off major

accounting errors. you know what? they were just honest mistakes. we made mistakes. anybody does it. the foundation is acting ceo writing in a blog post, quote so, yes we made mistakes. as many organizations of our size do. but we are acting quickly to remedy them and have taken steps to assure they don't happen in the future. only because all of these reports came out about their money. this is the first thing you see when something has gone terribly amiss. they're worried about the fact that they lied to the irs. first thing they will do, right, jpod? they will rectify that. >> i have run a non-profit 5013 c. commentary magazine, the level of reporting to the irs to insure your tax exemption is not taken away from you is pretty extreme. you have independent auditors you have forms that are public. you have, you have to detail all sorts of things. and the simple fact of the matter is, this is not regular. this is not usual.

melissa: okay. >> clinton foundation from what we can understand spent an extraordinary amount of the money it raises on internal operations rather than grant-giving and servicing people abroad. >> 60%. >> very i say this, i'm not saying this idealogically. this is a very questionable thing that we're learning about the foundation's operations. i say that as a non-profit executive. melissa: 60% of the their money going towards operations whether it is travel paying people inside, not towards what the goal is supposed to be. >> right. category called other, that was apart from programmatic funding for the foundation. >> right. you're supposed to fund -- melissa: a slush fund. >> general rule of thumb you're supposed to spend on a non-profit foundation, 75% of the money that you take in on grants or giving outside of the foundation they're doing 40. >> 40 or less. one year it seems to be 20. >> could be less. >> so this is not, this is a pretty serious infraction if, if

they can not detail the ways in which the internal spending was actually directed to helping people outside. >> you know, news organizations have determined that they weren't reporting any income. we're talking about tens of millions of dollars of foreign donations at all for several years. how do you not do that? melissa: oops. big mistake. everybody does it. s&p hitting new all-time high shortly after today's open but wall street bracing for a gdp number on wednesday that is expected to be downright ugly. estimates for the first quarter looking brutal with some projections coming in at below 1%. a lot. anything over 1% at this point would be a victory. a lot of people very concerned. frugal consumers, declining business investment, plunging manufacturing. jpod this could be a real problem. >> i don't know, it's a problem. we've already seen the hiring is weakening. and, what looked like good job growth seems to be slowing down substantially. and, all this suggests that the

constant refrain that we hear from the white house that it is yet, we're in yet another recovery in the things that really turned around are really not evident from the facts. melissa: one of my favorite stories of the day talking trash obviously and a very important part of all sports especially basketball. dallas mavericks coach rick carlisle learning it is not wise to aim your smack talk at ref. after getting $25,000 fine for bashing officials in the playoffs, carlisle found a new way to censor himself. >> i will -- >> asking me a question about the fish eighting? >> no, no. >> brought something just for that. runs 40 restaurant brands names you know like morton's rainforest cafe, bubba gump and many others. he joins us from the annual gathering of the world's top executives and policymakers at milken institute global conference in beverly hills. we were so glad we were able to steal you away. thanks for joining us. >> great to be here again melissa. a lot going on here this year. melissa: there is a lot of going on. there is a lot of talk and protests about raising minimum wage. i couldn't think of a better way to start with you on that one. how would it mean for your businesses? how would things change practically? >> it depends on what number it is but states have been raising the minimum wage for the last few years. just in california they raised it last year. even a company just my size it increased labor costs by $3 million a year. it happens again this july 1st. but at same time you would be surprised today because over the years we've been doing it,

that there is, people make good hourly wages today. it is not like it used to be. but, what is going to happen is, the consumer will pay for it. every time we have to go into a huge increase -- melissa: let me expand on that point a little bit. you talked about how it will raise costs by $3 million. "forbes" calls you the world's richest restaurant ture. you're worth $2 billion. three million bucks they say you could pay that yourself. how do you respond to that. >> that is just on paper. let's talk about real dollars. that is but just one state. the thing about it is it is increasing. as a matter of fact i have 60000 employees. i had my payroll department run something pour me the other day. we only have a couple of thousands employees that make under $10 an hour. if the country wants to raise it to $10 i have no problem. you start getting up into the $15, $18 an hour, it will really

be expensive for the consumer to eat. melissa: you also make the point it is easy for you with a lot of restaurants. the person it will hurt is a mom-and-pop restaurant. a guy running it him self, has nothing else. that is who gets hurt. do you have any plans to use automation? a lot of chains are relying on tablets and that sort of thing as labor becomes more difficult to depend on when we see the protests? does it impact you in that way? >> i see it happening but, even using technology, we do a little of it in our higher end brands but you're still dealing in a new technology and new generation. you still have some people over 40 years old, 50 years old, 60 years old, don't want to order off of a tablet. do i think it could be whole future, 50 years from now? yes. also everything has got to get better. you still have glitches. are we going to technology stage? absolutely. we run our, we run our business today, you know with numbers right now i can look at any restaurant right now on my

wheel. and this time the hinge of the high wire will not use a balancing poll to help against the wind? wow, nic, joins me now along with john stein from i-drive 360, which operates the orlando eye. nic, you have done sky scrapers in chicago, the grand canyon, why now orlando? >> it really was a voice to it orlando. me my wife, my three kids were up here. as we were driving down i-drive we looked over and saw this massive structure going up. at that point it was about a year ago. i didn't really know what it was. lo and behold within a couple months we got a phone call, hey, nic would you be interested in doing the grand opening for 400-foot tall tallest on east coast of the united states observation wheel, the orlando eye. and at that point i got extremely excited. i eyed or looked at the london eye in the past and thought this would be amazing opportunity to do something very unique. melissa: what kind of challenges does this specifically present?

>> a lot of challenges. it is very unique to me, for many reasons. i'm of course used to walking on a wire. i'm used to walking on wire that is somewhat stable but it doesn't move. well, with this orlando eye, i'm riding up in a capsule just like any other guest. once i get to the top, i will climb out of the capsule and get on rim of capsule other i'm sorry on the rim of the wheel. once i get there it will start turning. i have to keep up with it. what is unique i won't have balancing pole. every event you've seen me performing i had a balancings pole. this is the first time walking without a balancing pole. the structure is in the way. i can't use one. not only that i have to duck structures to make the distance i need to make to break the world record. melissa: john, let me ask you is he brave or crazy? >> he is brave and he is is, we're so delighted to have nik launch not only the orlando eye

my whole life has been about balance and training for that. specifically for this event i'm training for pacing. keeping up to walk at a steady pace, walking without a balancing pole. mental prepare race is key to my success. if i am not mentally prepared, if i talk myself out of it, no way i take that first step. very important i meditate, visualize myself taking that walk weeks in advance, sometimes months in advance so i'm confident to get on the wheel and confident to get out and start walking. melissa: gentlemen, wow. thanks so much for joining us. nik we'll be watching with our fingers crossed to say the least. whoo. from mistaken trash to prized treasures tonight's episode of "strange inheritance" features valuable inheritances nearly tossed in the garbage. in the first episode jamie colby meets a family who nearly threw out a old box of nearly centuries old baseball cards.

you tell them how you're going to make them irrelevant. so that is something special. >> yes. absolutely meanwhile president obama maybe cracking jokes but it is all eyes on the prize for 2015 hopefuls getting for his job. this week sees big shakeup near the top of the republican field. chris what does your power index say about marco rubio? >> it says marco rubio is a new number two. he's risen, he's surpassed scott walker that is a big deal holding steady there. this is not a huge reflection on walker but reflection of marco rubio to the top of the poll to the lead. so does win quinnipiac and surge to the top doing very well up there. that means, now in the republican field, that there is jeb bush and everybody else. and strong message from jeb bush's campaign and jeb bush himself which is have all of the fun you want. up in the polls go to iowa but he's a matching war chest here

to unforeseen and human history and dump it on anybody's head when they get there. >> does that necessarily win the day. marco rubio since he's been surging everybody has been talking him down saying well this is just the bump you get when you cool out but enough polls beyond this is your initial bump and he's taken seriously? >> ted cruz didn't get that kind of bump. certainly, rand paul didn't get that kind of bump with their launches we won't see that as we look ahead to coming days to ben carson and carly. walker and rubio are really shaping up to be the only two who have a chance to block jeb bush in his drive to the nomination. with all of that money all of those resources, the cloak of inevitability is what jeb bush is putting on to be not resisted his message is not that that hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars or billion dollars eventually spent doesn't mean he's going to win the

nomination but prevent you from getting nomination. after you catch the state he'll meet you in big expensive states and burn you down. >> burn you your house down i love that about politics. who says you need bucks to win an election we were just talking about this? well former governor jeb bush telling donors over the weekend you don't need a billion bucks to run a presidential campaign that is in sharp contrast to the 2.5 dollars that hillary campaign said they want to spends. john is back with me also joined by matt welch editor and chief of the magazine this show is called money and this presidential campaign seems to be all about money. let's start with jeb bush double it you don't need a billion dollars that is not a big deal. >> jeb bush is going to need a billion dollars because he's attracting next to zero actual sort of conservative grassroots support. there's been a huge kind of upsurge in enthusiasm among grassroots there's seven years in the republican party. absolutely none of it had been

to restore bush conservativism trying to use money to shock and awe the field to get them out of the way, because he lacks that kind of support from below. >> he's seeing absolutely of what he seems to believe is the truth by virtue of his action. out of fairness both month and president obama spent a billion dollars. everybody spent that last time. >> well, the really -- this entire election is going to be a test case about money and how much money at what point do administering returns of money set in? one of the things that is interesting about jeb bush is that for months, there has been this talk about how much money he was going to raise. i assume that he has not raised the shock and awe money yet he would have announce it had two months ago. if he says -- >> two billion he's going to actually full -- >> more like he'll say i have

$100 million but supposed $1 million march on april 15th not may first. but what we don't know about this money is why it matters early. all you can do with early money is buy -- >> you intimidates your opponent that is what you do with early money. speaking of which clinton team having a little bit or more trouble right now. new york businessman john cooper saying he's -- he's part of known as hill starters elite group for hillary clinton saying he was getting ready to ask for money and he decided not to because he wants more information on those foreign donors, i'm officially on the fence. i was sitting there trying to drafts e-mails. i couldn't do it because he wants more clarity. is this real do you think? >> i think so. not only do we talk about jeb with enthusiasm program. my god imagine hillary clinton right now. nobody running in the democratic side he's tried to wipe everyone

clean. but she doesn't inspire enthusiasm ask for democratic friends in a bar, do you really like hillary clinton? >> haven't talked to that guy lately so i don't -- >> democrats seem to like her a lot a. if you look at these polls like 61%, 62%. 63% supported democrats. i say they like her. that is not the issue here. the issue here is whether democrats particularly big money democrats are starting to get scared that there's more stuff that they don't know about that is going to come out that is going to be damaging later at the point of which could really start having an effect on 2016. >> never too late for -- >> not u right now but down the road if more bad stuff comes out. than the what we're saying? >> yes. a lot of people stretching out their muscles right now thinking about iran that weren't thinking about it a month ago. >> so severe storms hitting many parts of the country norland under a tornado warning.

just look at what happened at high winds in the big easy tossed 11 freight cars. from a bridge over the mississippi river, no injuries thank goodness were reported. tornadoes touching down north central texas, downed trees and other damage spotted. witnesses capturing this dramatic video of funnel clouds thankfully no immediate reports of injuries. it was also baseball sized hail coming down in this area near fort worth quite a park on your car wouldn't it? bruce jenner interview breaking through more than social barriers two hour television event pulling in a record number of viewers. it was huge. plus apple's earnings due up after the close, it is all about that iphone. but there's something else to watch out for at the end of the day it is all about money and apple.

56.1 billion dollars in revenue, that would be a 23% jump melissa if they do hit that. apple looking for a very big quarter there. >> nicole everybody down on the floor of the stocks exchange that she got rid of the blackberry and joined iphone nation after all of this team is that chatter or talking about somebody else? the front? >> chatter is so loud i can't focus. but yeah, i can join with you this is my first year of the iphone i love it so far. stock something is what hadding right here. it is changing other and evident in the stock. stocks up a buck 12 right now. year to year, to date up nearly 20%. up every single year since 2003. with one exception 2008 what is going to happen to the stock after market. jo gave you great details of is likely to be a big mover. trading about 3.8% moved today up or down but over the last four quarters has been a mover up about 4.8%. iphone sales in china second time they're betting but betting, in fact, that it will
