tv Cashin In FOX Business June 7, 2015 7:30am-8:01am EDT
7:30 am
ell, somebody has to do the dirty work. >> all right, gang. thank you very much. we hope everybody wins this weekend. that's it for forbes on fox. thank you for watching. keep it right here. b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b business blog continues with erin boling and cashing in. it's freedom of religion religion versus the free market. she claimed that violated her religious beliefs. abercrombie said it violated their policy. should private employers be able to decide who they want to hire? welcome to "cashin' in." welcome, everybody. abercrombie is known for hiring model types, and has hence changed the head scarf. they're caving to police. but shouldn't they be able to choose who they want to hire?
7:31 am
>> absolutely and they should choose what image they project to the public. abercrombie & fitch hires people who are essentially models. if she is going to represent the company and be an image of the company, well, the company gets to decide what you wear. that's how it works. but can i say how hilarious it is that liberals all of the sudden care about, oh religious freedom. but when it comes to business that doesn't want to serve cake or be involved in a gay marriage because of their religious rights or don't want to provide birth control or abortion liberals are silent on the issue. >> so wait. i say they're caving to the pc place. they're caving to the supreme court. the supreme court screw this one up? >> well eric it seems like to me that she should have said as i understand the facts, in her
7:32 am
initial interview, she didn't say anything about the scarf or being a muslim. and she should have disclosed that. it's not up to the employer to decide or to figure out what religious problems you may have as an employee. in other words, if i'm inquiring about your religious peculiarities or whatever they may be i'm invading your privacy about that. i think the factual part caused this problem. >> the supreme court said the the company should not hire based on religious practice or not hire based on religious practice. i need to ask you, what defines a religious practice? >> well, it's a religious belief system. she was wearing the scarf because she was muslim. she's a 17-year-old girl. this idea she knew it. i know the americans with disabilities act says you have to declare what that is. but to wayne's point, what could that have possibly been thinking
7:33 am
she was wearing the head scarf for, beside her set of religious belief. we now have unity, or almost unity on the supreme court. which rarely happens. they're right here. abercrombie & fitch has a right to desire who they want but not a right to discriminate. >> but, just hold on bear with me a second. a lot of people have different feelings or emotions. some would say religious beliefs for, i don't know sports. should they be able to wear a sports team uniform into abercrombie? >> how everyone feels is irrelevant. take it from a business perspective. why would anyone want to hire a full-time employee like this? employers are sitting ducks. abercrombie is a business owner. they have a right to hire anyone for whatever reason they want at any time they want including if they're wearing head scarf. if it's your business you have
7:34 am
a right to discriminate how people talk how people walk. it doesn't matter. >> listen to what you're saying. you have a right to discriminate. >> is it your business? >> i have a long legacy of having a problem with discrimination discrimination. this has gone on for years now. l. >> am i discriminated against because i'm not going to be hired as a rockette? >> imagine if you go audition for a movie and get it and then you say i can't wear the costume because it goes against my religious beliefs. she knew what she was doing. >> a 17-year-old model. this is the argument that this is all a setup? >> of course! >> ignorant. she knew what abercrombie was. they have basically naked people on their billboards. >> i know. so this is a very very important point that jessica just exposed and a lot of people are saying this. this may have been a setup, in fact. why would someone, a devout muslim so devout in the muslim faith, knowing what abercrombie
7:35 am
represents and knowing exactly half their models are shirtless and what they represent, and they sell sex, why would a devout muslim go for the job, other than maybe see if they can catch them saying no and then bring it to the supreme court? >> i don't think so. we're talking about a 17-year-old girl. somebody who grew up in america. she liked abercrombie & fitch. >> she has no right to it. that's the whole point. a job is a trade. as soon as you introduce sports into a job, it's no longer a job. so it's got to work for the employer and the employee. >> all right, let me get wayne in here. you're listening to a lot. jump in. >> let me ask a question because it happens a lot. people wear a cross around the neck. on a chain. or a guy comes in and he's wearing a yamiaca. does that mean all the things are exceptions, and is the
7:36 am
employer have to say, oh no you can't wear a cross around your neck because somebody will see that and make that say that oh you're christian, and i don't believe in your propagating your christianity in a commercial way. this has become silly. you know it's stupid at some point. you have to draw a line and say wait a minute. t and i think jonathan is right to say we can employ whomsoever you want. you can wear whatever you want and we don't care. let me finish. i say if it's against our dress code then you must not do it. that's exactly it. you did build that. thest your business. you're going to feel the consequences. it's your decision to hire whomever for whatever reason. >> quick thought, jess.
7:37 am
>> what about the fact that sense the 9/11 attacks, we've seen a 250% increase in the number of discrimination charges filed by muslim people in this country. and they said they face discrimination. these are serious facts. tease are important issues we talk about in the country. i for one am really glad the supreme court weighed in on this and on behalf of the girl. >> i think this is different. we're talking about people who are models for a company. not people who are working in the factories. >> we're talking about american society. not just models. >> it's not a question of faith. she can't work at the store. they don't want to hire her. >> go get another job. >> all right, guys. this is a heated debate. i'm sure this is going to continue on and we'll touch it again if we have some time.

our hashtag #wakeupamerica helps us to put together this show. last week i received a tweet from a high school student who was upset about me being trashed in a sociology class. he said our hashtag that caught our eye and now in this show. a teacher showing students a video of russell brand bashing cashin' in and capitalism. is this what your kid should be learning? the very, very shocking video is next.

well you think your kids aren't being taught to bash capitalism in school. a teacher in pennsylvania using a video from self proclaimed socialist russell brand bashing free market and cashin' in. we talked about a ceo cutting his workers pay. some thought it was a bad idea, so russell brand attacked us on the internet and a teacher decided it would be a good teaching tool. here's part of what the students saw. >> capitalism is as conned as the political system. >> okay, michelle. thought os thoughts on this guy? >> well it sounds like he's a socialist. that's not bad. it's not like it sounds like he's a pedophile. a socialist means he's into
7:43 am
sharing. >> i don't think this is representative of the minimum wage debate. we're not talking about people flipping burgers. people on the streets upset they're being paid $10 an hour rather than $15 an hour should improve the skill set. >> it's not like we need internalized structure whereby humanity and kindness and love are promoted. just get on with things. >> that went on and on. >> jonathan should schools be using liberals bashing capitalism and fox as teaching tools? >> you want to know why our culture is collapsing? because progressives no wait wait wait regressives like russell brand. he is ignorant. he talks about a system where you do whatever you want you exploit whatever you want. or socialism is into sharing. this is why the culture is clashing. the idea not just here in america but all over the world. >> i get it. he doesn't like me. he doesn't like us.
7:44 am
i understand that. the teacher using a teaching tool in a sociology class. i found it outrageous. a student contacted us because they were ticked off that they were using that as a teaching tool. let's talk about that to kids. man, high school wow. >> yeah i think it was a big mistake. also because russell brand missed the the poin of the conversation. we were talking about income equality he didn't show the other side that was presented on that episode. but as a representative of the liberal ivy tower, i would say he missed the point and they shouldn't be using that in classrooms. >> can you put up a statement. kyle contacted the high school principal. i'm sorry, the principal of the area and here's what his statement in part said. as a district we are quite comfortable with the way that the information was presented, and the resources used. i believe in our teachers using
7:45 am
rigorous and relative content. he's the principal of that high school. the full content of the response can be found on our website. in the meantime michelle the principal is okay with a sociology teacher using russell brand to trash you and i specifically. >> people complain that the school systems in america are bad. maybe it's because we have liberal principals and teachers who think that it's a good idea to show russell brand giving a crazy rant in his basement on youtube. i mean this is ridiculous. this is a man who the uz not understand economic theory. this is a man who hates capitalism but is completely fine making millions because of capitalism. he wants to talk about everyone sharing the wealth. why doesn't he open his home to all the people who need it? he won't because he's a hypocrite. >> af junior in high school also. if he came home and told me this
7:46 am
stuff was being used in school i would go to this school and say shut it down. that's not proper teaching tools. >> well fortunately we have in this country, you know school districts and school districts have school boards. and they're elected. the people on those boards boards are elected. they determine what the curriculum may be and what teachers are teaching. this guy is just an idiot. a total moron. i thought he did a funny imitation of jonathan m other than that -- >> [ laughter ] >> he called me a rat. >> he has no background whatsoever to talk about capitalism. he doesn't know anything. you just dismiss it. >> so jonathan you're right. you're pointing out that he took a personal shot at you which is ridiculous. again, that was part of the class discussion. i mean they literally sent me audio from the the class, and the teacher came out of this video and the students were buying into this russell brand stuff. and that is part of my biggest
7:47 am
problem with it. >> yeah they insulted you, they called me a rat. and as we pointed out the schools are explicitly anti-capitalism. they hate the good for being good. self sacrifice is everything. russell brand says we should be into sharing. that's voluntary. he wants to do it at the point of the gun. he's in favor of wealth redistribution. we all know how that turns out. >> we're going to leave it there. i'm trying to figure out why he's a viable teaching material. especially in a public high school, guys. all you people out there paying the taxes, you're supporting that. coming up planning to behead our men in blue. police stopping a new terror plot just in the nick of time. is this why we should no ord

as law makes were passing a watereded down version of the patriot act, three were busted at the bottom of the cartoon controversy. immediately hawks claimed it was a mistake to change the surveillance guy. this guy was tied to one of the same islamic center woumpb the boston marathon bombers belonged to and he posted his intentions on facebook. he wasn't the needle in the haystack it's the same. >> we know who the enemy is.
7:52 am
iran saudi arabia state sponsored terrorism. name homeland security department of defense to what it was named before the 1940s. that is the department of war. call it war, not defense. defense is endless. a war is fought and a war is won. and militant islam is the enemy. >> wayne, your thoughts on this? >> well i'm first of all i don't agree with that. but putting that aside, i think it's a good thing that they did. all it changes is it means that the federal government has to go and get a court order before they can attach or get into somebody's private business. then the phone companies will collect that information as opposed to -- wait let me finish. the problem with that is that feds themselves we just had this last week where the entire federal employee group was invaded. the feds themselves can't control it. the irs can't control it. they know that they're out of

line in all of these places. that's why we need the protection of the courts. >> let me get the other two in here. michelle are you on board also? glad that part of the nsa program expired? >> we don't need to strengthen the nsa program but start taking isis seriously. they're not a bunch of amateurs. these people in boston were radicalized by isis. let's stop pretending isis doesn't exist. it doesn't mean they're going for go away. they're not. let's get at the root of the problem. let's go after isis. >> what do you say, jess? >> i agree. this is something 60% of americans support. i think it was smart to water down the act. the provisions that actually found this guy are staying intact grandfathered into the usa freedom act. nothing to worry about. >> it is rare where you get a situation where all five of us agree. >> i agree with jonathan a little about the department of war. disagree a little. >> just like taking off our shoes at the airports has inconvenienced millions of people but done nothing to keep us safe surveillance videos is

hollywood superstar vince vaughn surprising liberals with his gq interview this week. he supported free market smaller government and pointed out the constitution should be the true center of american government. all things we here at cashin have been saying for 2 1/2 years. one idea vranesaughn espoused. allowing college students to carry guns. in liberal land my buddy geraldo took me on. >> when was the last time you heard of a civilian stopping a crime with a gun as opposed to a 40-year-old shot in the face by 6-year-old? >> thousands of times per day. there is a statistic i don't have that right here. >> that's a legend. you're watching too much "true detective". >> so it's facts you want sure happy to provide you with the facts. if you simply read gun expert

john louts's report since 2009 only 8% of mass public shootings have occurred in places where civilians were allowed to defend themselves. fact. here's another one of his facts. since 1993 firearm ownership in america has gone from under 200 million to over 300 million, a 50% increase fact over that same period of time violent crime rates have plummeted. murder down 50%. fact. forcible rape down 36%. fact. finally this one from louts in 2013 over 1 million gun defense uses in america which comes to 2700 times per day americans pull a gun in defense of a bad guy. check out this video one instance of a small store owner protecting her business from a bad guy with a gun. liberals are all wrong on the second amendment. the guns don't kill people. bad people kill people. and the facts prove it out. guns save lives. and that's the most important fact of all.
